• No sound into headphones

  I will make it quick : I have no sound in my headphones when they are plugged in on my Asus F200CA running Ubuntu 14.04, but : I have sound in the laptop speakers when the headphones are plugged out. If I boot up my laptop on a Live USB running Ubuntu 14.04, I have sound in the speakers and in the headphones. If I open pavucontrol, I can "see" sound, but I can't hear it. I already did some of the actions listed here. I'm running Ubuntu 14.04, with Unity, and this bug appeared about a week ago.

Keys Concerns Of Smartphones In The Enterprise These are the factors that you need to be aware of and address in order to build successful enterprise smartphone applications.  Most of them have nothing to do with the application itself as you will see here. Managing Devices Managing devices is a factor that is going to effect how much your company will have to spend outside of developing the applications.  How will you track the devices within the corporation?  How often will you have to replace phones and as a consequence have to upgrade your applications to support new phones?  The devices can represent a significant investment of capital.  If these questions are not addressed you will find a number of hidden costs throughout the life of your solution. Purchase or BYOD We have seen the trend of Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) lately within the enterprise.  How many meetings have you been in where someone is on their personal iPad, iPhone, Android phone or Windows Phone?  The issue is if you can afford to support everyone's choice in device? That is a lot to take on even if you only support the current release of each platform. Do you go with the most popular device or do you pick a platform that best matches your current ecosystem and distribute company owned devices?  There is no easy answer here, but you should be able give some dollar value to both hardware and development costs related to platform coverage. Asset Tracking/Insurance Smartphones are devices that are easier to lose or have stolen than laptops and desktops. Not only do you have your normal asset management concerns but also assignment of financial responsibility. You also will need to insure them against damage and theft and add legal documents that spell out the responsibilities of the employees that use these devices. Personal vs. Corporate Data What happens when you terminate an employee?  How do you recover the device?  What happens when they have put personal data on the device?  These are all situation that can cause possible loss of corporate intellectual property or legal repercussions of reclaiming a device with personal data on it.  Policies need to be put in place that protect the company from being exposed to type of loss.  This can mean significant legal and procedural cost that you need to consider. • First set up of a server need some help

  i want to start a file share server. i need help on how to get it started and running. i plan on using thing a lot and also maybe run a small web page from the server. plz help me figure out what i should install for packages. also the file share i would like to have a account login and stuff. also im running a 12.04 ubuntu server. it has a 1.4 gb of ram, with a 80gb harddrive (for now), and running a Pentium 4 possessor with like 1.2GHz not sure exactly but know it small.

• Ubuntu slows down even after cpu-intensive process is ended

  After a Skype video call, or the use of virtualbox, Ubuntu slows down to a crawl, even after the process is ended. Running htop reveals that processes that used little CPU before are now all using about 30% cpu (namely Compiz, Firefox, Python, and Skype, but I'm sure there are others), to the point where all my cores are at 99%. All I can do from here is restart. Any idea why this is happpening? I'm running Ubuntu 12.04 64-bit on 3.7 GiB of memory, Intel® Core™ i3 CPU M 330 @ 2.13GHz × 4, VESA: M92 graphics driver. Not sure why I'm running VESA, I installed fglrx, but I suppose that's a different question. Thanks in advance!

• How to update the USB Ubuntu (ISO) with new software

  I have Peppermint (based on Ubuntu) running of USB. Its bascially an ISO image that loads using Grub4Dos. Problem is that I each time I load Ubuntu - and want to use i.e. teamviewer or Firefox...I have to install it on the running live system. Since its running from a ISO image...a reboot means the software is gone. I can edit/open the ISO image using WinImage (on XP) - would you know how I can add extra software into this ISO image so next time Ubuntu loads...the new software is on there? Is there some special repositary director where I should copy the software files into and recreate the ISO image? The directory structure of this iso image is along the lines of: .disk [BOOT] Casper dists install isolinux pool preseed Appreciate your help with this. The software I am really interested in installing is the plugin for LogMeIn (for which I may need Firefox...thus I need Firefox installation) and Teamviewer. Thanks Nakata
