    I want to reinstall Ubuntu keeping my data intact. I have 160 GB hardrive (sata or pata I don't know but it's slim and made in China) with a 40 GB ext3 partition, a 4GB swap memory and 3 other partition with a FAT32 file system. I have around 4GB space on my drive where Linux is installed. I'd like to keep the data intact, especially the Downloads folder, desktop, and /var/www; And I no longer have access to any other machines or external storage devices.

    I am trying to install ubuntu for the first time. (long time windows user, first time linux!) Version = 11.04 Hardware = Acer Travelmate 4050 I can boot from USB or CD and it loads fine I have installed and reinstalled several times from both USB and CD and it completes correctly However, when I boot from the HDD I get the above error I don't see any errors like "kernel panic" mentioned elsewhere It happens whether I boot with AC adapter in or out and also with adapter in but battery out Not sure how to get further info to help with diagnosis Suggestions?

    2 weeks ago, google cant access my website anymore, in webmaster tools i cant fetch any page, i always get error 403, and the website has been completly disapperard form the google search results. I cant figure how suddendly it cant see it anymore, i've checked .htaccess and there nothing that blocks google crawlers, and robots.txt is fine to. Anyway the site is accesibly normaly for users. Anyone had this problems? please help!

    I'm on Win 8.1, then I download ubuntu-12.04.4-desktop-amd64.iso I mount the iso and copy wubi.exe to the same folder with above iso I run wubi.exe and install to another partition Everything works fine, then I make a backup with Acronis True Image 2013 Today, I use Acronis to restore that backup, after that I boot into Ubuntu and see this error http://i291.photobucket.com/albums/ll293/sniper_awm/2014-05-31_161817_zpsfe7a21c8.png And can see the folder structure of Wubi partition from Win 8.1, I copied root.disk to another place How can I fix this?   • Installer script removed a buch of 64-bit files and replaced them with 32-bit ones, how do I get them back?

    I ran this installer script to get some drivers for my printer, however I noticed that it started removing some of my programs, as well as 64-bit system files, and started replacing them with 32-bit ones! Luckily, I managed to cancel the operation before it did any serious damage. I also noticed that offical PPA's for 32-bit files were added. Should I remove them? So how do I get these files back?
