  • Boot error aftter clean Ubuntu 13.04 install: [Reboot and select proper boot device]

    I am having the same problem as this guy where a fresh Ubuntu install completes beautifully but will not boot. I get the ASUS (?) "Reboot and select proper boot device" error, first with Xubuntu 13.10 and after finally giving up there, and Xubuntu 13.4, I am back to regular Ubuntu 13.4. ASUS motherboard Z77, Intel chipset. Standard internal SATA 500GB HD. 64-bit. All-new hardware less than 3 months old. It was running Ubuntu 12.04LTC great until I tried this upgrade. I have re-installed from scratch every which way: with LVM, without LVM; with the default partitions, with my own partitions. With ext3 or ext4. Alongside; replace; upgrade. No difference. On the last two tries, I have booted afterward from the same USB stick, downloaded and run boot-repair, and now I guess I am off to the boot-repair support email with my URLs from that. It did all kinds of cool stuff but ultimately made no difference. I never got anything like this with Ubuntu 12.04. I've now probably re-installed Ubuntu 13.04 ten times slightly different ways. I finally found how to skip the language packs, so at least that sped things up! :) This starts from the ubuntu-13.04-desktop-amd64.iso and UNetbootin as suggested on the official instructions for USB thumb drive creation from OSX. That part all works fine (booting the USB on the PC and trying Ubuntu and/or installing from there on the PC HD.) I have no CD drive on this PC, but I suppose I could get one. I would rather find some Linux install that works from USB like I've always done. After running boot-repair twice, in the ASUS BIOS I now see three different UEFI boot options in the priority list, and they are all labeled exactly the same: ubuntu (P6: WDC WD5000AAKX-00U6AA0) Then there's a non-UEFI option: P6: WDC WD5000AAKX-00U6AA0 (476940MB) And a fifth option appeared after the first boot-repair: Windows Boot Manager (P6: WDC WD5000AAKX-00U6AA0) I have tried all 5 of these, and I get exactly the same error. I have never had Windows installed on this HD. ASUS is calling it Windows Boot Manaer but I presume that's a mistaken label for whatever boot-repair did. I can boot on USB and run GParted and it looks great. The partitions all look normal. I found another case of this online with no solution posted. I can't find much about it online. Needs a Master Boot Record wipe/redo?? I'm not sure how.

    I am trying to run parser from here, but it gives this error: This program requires jinja2 version 2.7 or later I have already installed the jinja2 package by running sudo apt-get install python-jinja2. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong (with a little guide to run the tool as well)? The m5out folder is here, with the stats for a ARM core simulation, so you don't have to install gem5 to get those two files required by the script.

    i have hp laptop i had installed windows 8 which i upgraded to 8.1 i wanted to dual boot ubuntu 14.04 with windows 8.1 i diasbled secure boot and fast startup then used a liveusb to boot then an error msg pops up saying "the selected bootable device failed" my system boot order is : os boot manager usb hdd internal hdd so my question is that y this msg(selected boot device failed) is popping up and should i try to keep usb hdd on the top of my sysytem boot order in order to get it working??? pls reply soon

  • Could not log-in properly but shows no error in joomla

    I added some fields in the user registration in joomla including the image field which is blob type, all data is saving properly and i could also display the image but I could not log-in properly using the account with an uploaded image in the database and shows no error. And when I log-in as administrator in the backend, i saw this account as logged in. Any idea if what causes this problem? please help? Thank you.

  • No screens found error with glasen/intel-driver

    A lot of people seem to have had success in getting hardware acceleration for intel 82852/855GM chipsets with the ppa:glasen/intel-driver. I've tried it on my Motion Computing M1400 but get a "no screens found" error. I've found one person out there with a similar problem who seemed to fix it, but his solution is in German and seems to involve recompiling the kernel (it's at the bottom of the comments). Anyone able to see how to fix this without such drastic measures?

    On Windows Server 2008 R2, when I run the following command I am getting the 1920. I've tried pretty much everything I am aware of and I can't figure out what causes the error.     Hi, I'm getting what appears now to be a security error in my WCF Service. Originally my error was about a falted state(removed using around client proxy to clear this error), but have found more information through enabling trace. I have been unable to get my solution running after encountering this error, and even my backup copy now gets the same error. I'm not sure what has caused this to happen, I undone the changes I made (nothing relating to WCF) and still get the same error. The error from trace is - System.ServiceModel.Security.MessageSecurityException: Security processor was unable to find a security header in the message. This might be because the message is an unsecured fault or because there is a binding mismatch between the communicating parties. This can occur if the service is configured for security and the client is not using security. I'm not really sure what I need to do to fix this, any help would be usefull. The application was previously working.

    When I try to start Outlook 2007, my system freezes, and Outlook says it is "synchonizing folders". I don't use exchange, and haven't seen any answers online. I've tried turning off the exchange integration (right clicking my folders) Since doing the latter, there is no longer an icon in the system tray when this is frozen (there was before) UPDATE: It seems my anti-virus program (comodo) was what was actually locking during Outlook file synch. I disabled that, and things seemed to settle down.

RVM is working fine, but I have a special need to install a gem to the system Ruby and I can't because of this problem. Does anyone know why? It seems to be some kind of link problem to Ruby, but I'm don't know how to solve this. I ran which ruby and it's at this point located in "/usr/local/bin/ruby". I checked the Ruby in "/usr/lib/" and it's pointing to my system Ruby: "../../System/Library/Frameworks/Ruby.framework/Versions/Current/usr/lib/ruby" Any help would be appreciated.

    Late last week I upgraded CC.NET locally and on the build server. The top of my ascx file looks like this: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.Collections.IEnumerable<string>>" %> There is nothing else on this page, currently. When I execute the app and load the page that renders this control, I get the following error: Could not load type 'System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.Collections.IEnumerable<string>>'. So, then I simplified it: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<String>" %> And then, just in case it needed to be fully qualified: <%@ Control Language="C#" Inherits="System.Web.Mvc.ViewUserControl<System.String>" %> Everytime I get the same error (substituting type). what am I doing wrong here? I'm on .NET 3.5 with ASP.NET MVC 1.0 RTM.

    I'm using the Chart Controls for Mircosoft .NET Framerwork. Most of the time they work perfectly. However, if I leave a page for longer than 20-30 mins and then try to refresh the page, I get an error saying: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd. Exception Details: System.Web.HttpException: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd. If I update the page using an AJAX update panel I get the following error: Sys.WebForms.PageRequestManagerServerErrorException: Error executing child request for ChartImg.axd It seems that the chart handler stops after a period of inactivity. Most of the webpages I've looked at for this error are for situations when this error is displayed all the time. In my case it is only displayed after a period of inactivity. Can someone provide a better explanation of what is happening and suggest a solution?
