  If I look at the Freebase page for the band '311', I see Chad Sexton listed. http://www.freebase.com/view/en/311 I am trying to query for the members of a band : { "name" : "311", "/music/artist/album" : [{"name":null, "id":null, "optional": true}], "type|=" : ["/music/artist","/music/musical_group"], "/award/award_winner/awards_won" : ["award":null, "optional" => true], "/award/award_nominated_work/award_nominations" : ["award":null, "optional" => true], "/music/artist/supporting_artists":[{}] } I thought supporting_artists would return the band member names, but the array is always empty. But if I query for all properties related to Chad Sexton, I don't see 311 mentioned. But he is listed as member on the Freebase web info page (which is correct). { "*": null, "name": "Chad Sexton", "type": "/music/artist" } How can I grab the band member names along with the band info?

• ComboBox wpf not item not being selected

  I am trying to bind a combo box to a list of objects, and it works great, besides the selected value, am I missing somethign? <ComboBox ItemsSource="{Binding OrderInfoVm.AllCountries}" SelectedValuePath="country_code" DisplayMemberPath="country_name" SelectedValue="{Binding OrderInfoVm.BillingCountry}" /> Basically I want to bind value to country codes and set the selected value to the country code bound to OrderInfoVm.BillingCountry (which implements INotifyPropertyChanged) Initially when the control loads selected value is empty, but on click BillingCountry is populated. Selected value does not seem to change. How can I remedy that?

  Working with Unity, I thought it would be a good idea to create some LiveTemplates to help out with creating configuration entries. For example, I want to create some typeAlias elements in a file called "unity.config": <typeAlias alias="QueryService" type="type,QueryAssembly"/> So, I created a live template: Shortcut: typeAlias Available "in all files" <typeAlias alias="$ALIAS$" type="$TYPE$,$ASSEMBLY$"/> the unity.config file is an XML file. I put the cursor in an empty spot and type "typeAlias" and then the tab key. Nothing happens. Any ideas?

• Facebook friends.getLists failing

  Hi all, I'm trying a simple request on Facebook to return all my friend lists. I'm trying this in Facebook's test console, as well as through an iPhone app i'm working on. friends.getLists (also alternatively through FQL) SELECT flid, name FROM friendlist WHERE owner=4810796 I am currently logged in, so using that number should be valid. Both are returning an empty list (not erroring out), but I am certain that I have a few friend lists set up. I've also tried using this with a test account I set up, but got the same results. I could have sworn this command was working earlier. Can anyone please either verify or reject that this is happening for them? Thanks.

• Finding all the shortest paths between two nodes in unweighted directed graphs using BFS algorithm

I have used BFS algorithm to do the job, but unfortunately I can only print one shortest path not all of them, for example if they are 4 paths having lenght 3, my algorithm only prints the first one but I would like it to print all the four shortest paths.   I am trying to start working with excel documents through the OpenXML SDK Spreadsheet API. But I havent found any good guides or even examples on how to create a xlsx file from scratch. Only how to open an existing document and modify it. I have been thinking on having a empty template document and make a copy of it an then begin my proccessing on it. But it doesent feel right. It might be easier but I not comfortable using a technique I dont feel that I understand "pretty" good atleast. So my question is: Anyone has any god tips on articles or books or any other type of resource that explains the API. Thanks in advance. /johan

If i set that to true, than the system considers the blank input as valid so i get a null Double class. If i set it to false then the system chokes on the blank input string with: org.springframework.beans.TypeMismatchException: Failed to convert value of type 'java.lang.String' to required type 'double'; nested exception is java.lang.NumberFormatException: empty String Does anyone know how to get the defaultValue to work for Doubles? • Interface Builder: Resize View From NIB

  I have a custom UIViewController and a corresponding view in a nib file. The view is added to the UIWindow directly. [window addSubview:customViewController.view]; Sizes of the window and the view are default (480x320 and 460x320 correspondingly). When I create CustomViewController inside the nib file and check "Resize View From NIB" in IB Attributes tab everything works just fine. But when I create CustomViewController programmmatically with initWithNibName message the view is not positioned on the window correctly. There is an empty stripe at the bottom. Its height is 20px. I see it's because of status bar offset. IB handles that with "Resize View From NIB". How to emulate that programmatically? It seems that IB uses some custom subclass of UIViewController. So the question: how is "Resize View From NIB" implemented there?

• Asp.Net MVC does automatic model validation for DateTime but no others

  I'm using MVC 2 with some Models from a LinqToSql project that I built. I see that when I post back to a Controller Action after editing a form that has a DateTime field from the Model, the MVC Html.ValidationMessageFor() helper will nicely display an error beside the Date text box. This seems to happen automatically when the you test ModelState.IsValid() in the Controller Action, as if the MVC model binding automatically knows that the DateTime field cannot be empty. My question is... I have some other string fields in these LinqToSql generated classes that are Not-Nullable (marked as Not Nullable in Sql Server which passes thourgh to the LinqToSql generated classes), so why doesn't Mr. MVC pick up on those as well and display a "Required" message in the ValidationMessageFor() placeholders I have added for those fields? Sure, I have successfully added the MetadataType(typeof) buddy classes to cover these Non-nullable string fields, but it sure does seem redundant to add all this metadata in buddy classes when the LinqToSql generated classes already contain enough info that MVC could sniff out. It MVC validation works with DateTime automatically, why not these Not-nullable fields too?

  Consider the following method signature: public static bool TryGetPolls(out List<Poll> polls, out string errorMessage) This method performs the following: accesses the database to generate a list of Poll objects. returns true if it was success and errorMessage will be an empty string returns false if it was not successful and errorMessage will contain an exception message. Is this good style? Update: Lets say i do use the following method signature: public static List<Poll> GetPolls() and in that method, it doesn't catch any exceptions (so i depend the caller to catch exceptions). How do i dispose and close all the objects that is in the scope of that method? As soon as an exception is thrown, the code that closes and disposes objects in the method is no longer reachable.

  In a winforms application, I'm using a RichTextBox and I'm trying to reduce the output from a '\t' to 4 spaces from whatever the default is. I have this in the form's OnLoad _richTextBox.Text = "1\t2\t3\t4\t5"; _richTextBox.SelectAll(); _richTextBox.SelectionTabs = new int[] {100,200,300,400 }; I have a breakpoint before and after this snippet. The SelectionTabs is set to {int[0]} (empty int array) before and after the assignment. Can anyone tell me why my assignment is not going through?

• Accessing Content from MDF after attached to SQL

  Hello, I am using WSS 3.0 and trying to restore a mdf. I attached the database in SQL Management Studio, created a new web application, and associated the database to it. When I go into Central Administration- Application Management - Content Databases I see the WSS_Content and it says Sites: 2. One of the sites looks more similar to the other. I was able to log into the Sharepoint web app that has the db attached to it, and while it gives me the basic structure of the backed up site, the content of lists is blank, that was the data I was really after (Announcements, tasks, etc exist as lists but are empty). How do I get access to this?

• ASP.NET MVC 2 RC2 Model Binding with NVARCHAR NOT NULL column

  I have a database column defined as NVARCHAR(1000) NOT NULL DEFAULT(N'') - in other words, a non-nullable text column with a default value of blank. I have a model class generated by the Linq-to-SQL Classes designer, which correctly identifies the property as not nullable. I have a TextAreaFor in my view for that property. I'm using UpdateModel in my controller to fetch the value from the form and populate the model object. If I view the web page and leave the text area blank, UpdateModel insists on setting the property to NULL instead of empty string. (Even if I set the value to blank in code prior to calling UpdateModel, it still overwrites that with NULL). Which, of course, causes the subsequent database update to fail. I could check all such properties for NULL after calling UpdateModel, but that seems ridiculous - surely there must be a better way? Please don't tell me I need a custom model binder for such a simple scenario...!

• What is the fastest way to create a checksum for large files in C#

  Hi, I have to sync large files across some machines. The files can be up to 6GB in size. The sync will be done manually every few weeks. I cant take the filename into consideration because they can change anytime. My plan is to create checksums on the destination PC and on the source PC and than copy all files with a checksum, which are not already in the destination, to the destination.   I've got some dynamically-generated boolean logic expressions, like: (A or B) and (C or D) A or (A and B) A empty - evaluates to True The placeholders get replaced with booleans. Should I, Convert this information to a Python expression like True or (True or False) and eval it? Create a binary tree where a node is either a bool or Conjunction/Disjunction object and recursively evaluate it? Convert it into nested S-expressions and use a Lisp parser? Something else? Suggestions welcome.

  Hi! I am using an XMLHttpRequest to POST a JSON string to PHP. The JSON object is created in JavaScript and using the JSON2.js from json.org to create an JSON string representing the object. JSON.stringify(object); Whenever the object contains a string which has a special character in it, e.g. é, JavaScript does not give any error but PHP receives an empty array [] Is there a JavaScript function which produces the exact same resutls as the PHP function htmlentities() The data is send via POST, so the following functions escape() encodeURI() encodeURIComponent() are a bit overkill.
