  • btrfs: can i create a btrfs file system with data as jbod and metadata mirrored

    I am trying to build a home server that will be my NAS/Media server as well a the XBMC front end. I am planning on using Ubuntu with btrfs for the NAS part of it. The current setup consists of 1TB hdd for the OS etc and two 2TB hdd's for data. I plan to have the 2TB hdd's used as JBOD btrfs system in which i can add hdd's as needed later, basically growing the filesystem online. They way I had setup the file system for testing was while installing the OS just have one of the HDD's connected and have btrfs on it mounted as /data. Later on add another hdd to this file system. When the second disk was added btrfs made as RAID 0, with metadata being RAID 1. However, this presents a problem: even if one of the disk fails I loose all my data (mostly media). Also most of the time the server will be running without doing any disk access, i.e. the HDD's can be spun down, when a access request comes in this with the current RAID 0 setup both disks will spin up. in case I manage a JBOD only the disk that has the file needs to be spun up. This should hopefully reduce the MTBF for each disk. So, is there a way in which I can have btrfs setup such that metadata is mirrored but data stays in a JBOD formation? Another question I have is this, I understand that a full drive failure in JBOD will lose data on the drive, but having metadeta mirrored across all drives, will this help the filesytem correct errors that migh creep in (ex bit rot?) and is btrfs capable of doing this.

  • Create a special folder within an outlook PST file

    Original question I have two problems caused by missing special folders. I added a second email address for which Outlook created a new PST file with an Inbox to which emails are successfully imported. But there is no Deleted Items folder. If I attempt to delete an unwanted email it is struck out. If move an email to a different PST file it is copied. I created a new PST file using Data File Management. This PST file has no Drafts folder. This is not important but I fail to see why I cannot have Drafts folder if I want. Any suggestions for solving these problems, particularly the first, gratefully received. Update Thanks to Ramhound and Dave Rook for their helpful responses to my original question. I assumed the problem of not have a Drafts folder in an Archive PST file and not having a Deleted Items folder associated with an Inbox were part of the same problem or I would not have mentioned the Drafts folder issue since I have an easy work-around. Perhaps my question should have been: How to I load emails from an IMAP account and be able to delete the spam?

  • jQuery ajax() function is ignoring dataType parameter in Firefox

    I'm trying to use jQuery.ajax() to fetch some html, but Firefox is giving me a "junk after document element" error message. As explained here and here the problem seems to be that Firefox is expecting XML from the server, and when it doesn't parse correctly it throws the error. Here's my ajax code: jQuery.ajax({ url: name, dataType: "html", success: function(result) { console.log(result); }, error: function (jqXHR, textStatus, errorThrown) { console.log(errorThrown); } }); The server returns the html with these response headers: Accept-Ranges bytes Content-Length 2957 Last-Modified Tue, 02 Jul 2013 16:16:59 GMT Note that there's no content-type header. I'm sure that adding one would solve the problem, but that's not an option. The real problem is that Firefox appears to be ignoring the dataType: parameter in the ajax call. I've also tried adding contentType: and accepts: parameters, but it doesn't help. What am I missing here? How do I force Firefox to process the response as plain text?

  • jQuery .Ajax() function selector , store specific data in variable

    I am new to jQuery and I have the following problem. My project has say 2 pages, 1.JSP and 2.html. Now I want to pick selected data from 2.html and use it on 1.JSP. Now this was achieved very easily using .load but I want the data to be present in a JavaScript variable rather than put it on the page (div tags, etc.), so that I can work upon that data (modify or add to database).     Hi, I am getting this error in my terminal when i execute the command above, Deans-MacBook:depot dean$ rake db:create RAILS_ENV='development' (in /Users/dean/src/RailsBook/depot) Couldn't create database for {"username"=>"root", "adapter"=>"mysql", "database"=>"depot_development", "host"=>"localhost", "password"=>nil}, charset: utf8, collation: utf8_unicode_ci (if you set the charset manually, make sure you have a matching collation) In database config file i have the following: development: adapter: mysql database: depot_development username: root password: host: localhost I have the mysql gem installed and now i am unsure on what to do next.     How can I create View on Linked Server db. For Example I have a linked server [0.0.0.0] on [1.1.1.1]. Both db servers are SQL Sserver 2005. I want to create View on [1.1.1.1] using table on linked server. EDIT: On creating using full name, [0.0.0.0].db.dbo.table, I am getting this error. SQL Execution Error. Executed SQL statement: SELECT * FROM 0.0.0.0.db.dbo.table (YOu can see brackets are not there.) Error Source: .Net SqlClient Data Provider Error Message: Incorrect syntax near '0.0'. --- part of IP address. I am just creating this in ManagementStudio, not using it because it is not created yet. I Have changed IP. In image you can see there are not brackets around IP but I given it and on error these brackets are removed. Thanks.

    I am using Symfony PHP Framework to create web application, and using symfony Forms to create the HTML forms. I am trying to load the data in Select element using Ajax, for that i am using jQuery's Ajax functions. It is working fine as it sends and gets the response correctly(status as 200), but not calling the Callback function in some browsers such as IE,Chrome and Safari.It works fine in Firefox and Opera. the Code that is not working, $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: function(jsonData){ alert("ok go"); } }); the alert "OK Go" is not called in Chrome,IE and Safari But $.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'form/ajax', async: true, cache: false, dataType : 'json', data: 'id='+ids, success: alert("ok go"); }); this works, but as per the project i want the JSON data to load in my Select element. is there any thing wrong in the return JSON format or the bug in the jQuery Ajax functions, please help.

  • Create Hidden Partition on USB

    I need to split an USB flash disk into two USB drives, each one with its own drive letter, but one of these has to be hidden. In the non-hidden partition I want to place my software, and in the hidden partition I need to place some files that are required by the software in order to work. Moreover, only the software may read, write, delete or execute the files in this partition. I thought to use a little partition viewed as a CD-ROM drive, as they do in many flash drives, but this solution does not allow to write other data in a second moment, and it's visible to the user that can read the file. Obviously the software must be able to access to partition and read, write, delete or execute the content. Is there a solution to do so, possibly that work also on Linux?

I rebooted the laptop but nothing has changed.

    While I don't really miss the annoyances that go with working on Windows, one thing I do wish I had in Gnome is the ability to hold the right-mouse button down on a file and drag it to get the context menu asking if I want to move or copy the file. I realise the default tries to be sensible (like in Windows - defaults to move if on the same volume, or copy if on different) and that it can be overridden with <ctrl> or <shift> - but i'm still used to the right-mouse drag option and keep getting frustrated when it doesn't work...

I've been using Rachota TimeTracker which allows me to create reports (in html format) http://rachota.sourceforge.net/en/demo.html I've just started using mylyn (our company uses Embarcadero JBuilder which is is based on Eclipse), but I don't see anywhere in the Eclipse or Embarcadero docs about reporting capabilities. Is it possible? Is it possible to query activities worked on a prior week and report statistics out of it (management like reports, you know;) I'm sure it is, but I haven't been able to google it out. Thanks.

  • HTML is not being interpreted after JQuery's .ajax function

    Hello there... Once I have retrived an HTML string with the $.ajax function I put it into a div... the HTML is a simple message with a <b> tag, but it's not being interpreted by the browser, I mean, the <b> is not making the text bold. Here is what I do: $.ajax({ url: 'index.php?ajax=ejecutar_configuracion&id_gadget=cubrimientos', cache: false, success: function(html){ // html = '<b>hello</b> newton' $('#config_reporte').html(html).dialog({ height: 300, width: 500, modal: true }); } }); As you can see, I'm writing the content of the HTML result into a modal dialog window.     I'd like to be able to base playlists in iTunes on a folder on my hard drive. For example, say I have this directory structure: C:\MP3s\Doctor Who Music C:\MP3s\Star Wars Music Importing all those MP3s into iTunes is really simple - at the bare bones version you can just drag the MP3 folder into the iTunes window and it does the rest. But, having done that, what I'd like to be able to do is point iTunes at each of those directories and have it turn them into their own playlists, so I end up with a Doctor Who Music and a Star Wars Music playlist based on the MP3s locations on the hard drive. Does iTunes have a way to do this, or is there a way to trick it into this with some other program? (I'm on Windows, but I'm sure Mac users would also appreciate answers to this as well.)

  • Create a polynomial object from a number using change-class

    I have written a polynomial class along the lines described in SICP 2.5.3 (except using defclass). I would like to be able to seamlessly add and multiply polynomials and regular numbers but I can't make change-class accept a number. I tried to simplify the problem by changing class from an integer to a float: (change-class 4 'float) but that gave me the error: There is no applicable method for the generic function #<STANDARD-GENERIC-FUNCTION CHANGE-CLASS (7)> when called with arguments (4 #<BUILT-IN-CLASS FLOAT>). [Condition of type SIMPLE-ERROR] I get an error of the same form from (fyi): (change-class 4 'polynomial) I'm going to go ahead and implement a manual conversion but I would prefer to use the built-in clos facilities.

  • Java Timers - Messing up function called?

    So I have a TimerTask task calling a function onTimerComplete() in its run() onTimerComplete() looks something like this: private void onTimerComplete(){ myFunc1(); myFunc2(); } I make a Timer t and I schedule the TimerTask with t.schedule(task, 2000); The problem is, when the timer is up and the task runs my onTimerComplete() but that function does not finish. It runs myFunc1() but never finishes it nor does it ever call myFunc2() However, if I call onTimerComplete() directly, everything works. What's the deal here?

(Exception from HRESULT: 0x80020005 (DISP_E_TYPEMISMATCH)) Actually this is the first time I am using Excel function .. so I am unable to proceed further.     Hello, I need to install a program for my studies and, this program, need java to run. When I try to perform the installation say that cannot find the JDK; since the JDK is already installed by default in mac, the problem is export the java home. I´ve try a lot and I cant do it! I know that I have to add a line in a .bashrc file (or .profile, or .bash_profile) I´ve created all those files, at different times but nothing... I´m a new mac user, but I use Linux too and I dont know what happened, I just need to export java home to perform my work... and is really necessary for me to add environment variables too.     I am having trouble in creating named pipe in Android and the example below illustrates my dilemma: res = mkfifo("/sdcard/fifo9000", S_IRWXO); if (res != 0) { LOG("Error while creating a pipe (return:%d, errno:%d)", res, errno); } The code always prints: Error while creating a pipe (return:-1, errno:1) I can't figure out exactly why this fails. The application has android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE permissions. I can create normal files with exactly the same name in the same location, but pipe creation fails. The pipe in question should be accessible from multiple applications. I suspect that noone can create pipes in /sdcard. Where would it be the best location to do so? What mode mast should I set (2nd parameter)? Does application need any extra permissions?

    Hi, I have a function that accepts a variable number of parameters: foo (Class... types); In which I get a certain number of class types. Next, I want to have a function bar( ?? ) That will accepts a variable number of parameters as well, and be able to verify that the variables are the same number (that's easy) and of the same types (the hard part) as was specified in foo. How can I do that? Edit: to clarify, a call could be: foo (String.class, Int.class); bar ("aaa", 32); // OK! bar (3); // ERROR! bar ("aa" , "bb"); //ERROR! Also, foo and bar are methods of the same class.
