  • Creating java executable using JNI ?

    I am trying to create executable under windows platform for Java program using JNI ,C/C++ and invocation API, I have already created jar file for my program which includes all dependencies. I want to embed it in exe file, I was successful in running simple main class(present in file system) using JNI invocation API, I am planning to add jar file as resource in C/C++ program. But I don't know how do I run that jar file , One option is create temporary jar file on file system and run it using java, But I do not want to expose my jar file to everyone for security reasons, How can I run serialized jar file on the fly using JNI ?

  • Adobe Flex + Air or Java + JavaFX 2.0?

    Hey guys! I'm looking into a cloud-computing related career. I've recently graduated from school and have been meaning to study a new programming language. From what I understand, I need to get into RIA development for this. Flex and Java have certainly caught my attention, but I am torn as to whether focus on Flex then continue with Air, or study Java first and see how JavaFX 2.0 pans out, and then continue with Flex thereafter. I've no previous experience with either, and I'm sort of giving myself something like two years or so to learn. What do guys think? Thanks for the feedback! :)

    Is it possible to add a folder which contains java source code as a classpath element. I have tried a few things and it seems that the classloadr is not picking up java soruce files? One of my attempts is shown below.... So I need from a scripting engine: Maximum Java interoperability (i.e. Spring framework) Script reloading and recompiling Easy DB access from scripting language Clear and simple syntax (some DSL capabilities would be nice to have), easy learning curve for non-hardcore developers Performance and stability I had some experience in the similar project with Rhino and it was pretty good. But I want to see if there is something better. Currently I'm looking into Groovy. JRuby and Jython are a bit more complex than I need for this task. Any other suggestion? What to take into consideration?

  • Direct comparator in Java out of the box

    I have a method which needs a Comparator for one of its parameters. I would like to pass a Comparator which does a normal comparison and a reverse comparator which does in reverse. java.util.Collections provides a reverseOrder() this is good for the reverse comparison, but I could not find any normal Comparator. The only solution what came into my mind is Collections.reverseOrder(Collections.reverseOrder()). but I don't like it because the double method calling inside. Of course I could write a NormalComparator like this: public class NormalComparator<T extends Comparable> implements Comparator<T> { public int compare(T o1, T o2) { return o1.compareTo(o2); } } But I'm really surprised that Java doesn't have a solution for this out of the box.

  • suggestions for someone studying for java certification

    I have been working with java (J2EE) for about 4 years. I have been putting off the certification for a while now. I bought the exam last year and still have not taken the exam. it expires in june so I am going to give it a shot. I know certifications don't get jobs but interviews but where I work...certification will put a 'stamp' on my resume and I think it'll popout in the eyes of the management. Anyways, I am going for JAVA 6. Can someone suggest some good mock exams that are kind of new and relevant. I came across this link but most of these exams are fairly old. I am using kathy Sierra's book for studying. Any other resources/pointers?

Registry.set("key", new AnotherObject()); // rewrite old object I tried this code to register bean at runtime: applicationContext.getBeanFactory().registerSingleton("key", object); but it does not allow to rewrite existing object (result code for checking and deleting existing bean is too complicated)... PS I am Java newbie, so mb I am doing it wrong and I should not use IoC at all... any help is appreciated...

I made one page for user authentication and using .net wcf service to authenticate user. i am able to send data on .net service by HttpGet method but not able to get response back on java page. I have tested it on fiddler with this url its working fine and returning response code 200, but not getting response code by java code. Following code i am using.     Hi everyone , I'm racking my brain in order to solve a knotty problem (at least for me) While playing an audio file (using java) I want the signal amplitude to be displayed against time. I mean I'd like to implement a small panel showing a sort of oscilloscope .(SPECTRUM ANALYZER) The audio signal should be viewed in the time domain (vertical axis is amplitude and the horizontal axis is time) Does anyone know how to do it? Is there a good tutorial I can rely on? Since I know vwry little about java , I wish someone could help me . Thanks in advance.

    In my opinion WWW will sooner or later come to full-blown AJAX web-sites, so that we wouldn't have page reloads every time you click somewhere. Now I want you to ask this. What tools and frameworks can one use to make a Java Web-application running on Tomcat have AJAX functionality like "in-place, with no page reloading" table sorting by clicking on its column header, multi-tabs that enable opening at once the new screen to the user without reloading a page, saving data in the database without reloading a page, and other similar things that we do not usually see on web pages. That's all should probably be based on AJAX. But how to integrate this AJAX functionality with existing java web-frameworks, let's say Spring MVC? Or maybe there are other frameworks that better suit such needs but that can be integrated with core Spring?

  • Java Swing app hangs when run in normal mode but runs fine in debug mode

    I am writing a basic Java application with a Swing front-end. Basically it loads some data from a Derby database via Apache Cayenne and then displays it in a JTable. I'm doing my development in Eclipse and I don't think it's important but I'm using Maven for dependencies. Now this works fine when I run using Debug but it seems to hang the display thread when I use the Run button. I've done a thread dump and I'm not 100% certain but everything looks good. I used Java VisualVM and the threads look fine there as well. Strangely it seems to work intermittently. It's pretty consistent though and easy to reproduce. If anyone has any ideas, I'm all out of them.

Is that simple or complex? Does it come with lots of features (fancy character and paragraph styles with online spell checking for several languages in the same document) or just the basics (bold, italics, no underline)? List important dependencies (does it run on bare Java with Swing? SWT? MacOS?) Your personal opinion This list should help developers determine which editor to choose. I'm not looking for "the best" but more "what's there".

    Hi, I've been recently trying to connect to a hosted MySQL using Java but can't get it to work. I can connect to a local MySQL with localhost using: connect = DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:mysql://localhost/lego?" + "user=******&password=*******"); (Replacing the astrisks withmy username and password) I can connect to the hosted MySQL database fine with PHP using: mysql_connect('mysql.hosts.co.uk','******','**********'); mysql_select_db('test'); My problem is, I cannot connect via Java. I have an Exception which is caught if the connection doesn't work and this is always printed out. Any ideas why it isn't working? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks for your time, InfinitiFizz

    I have a Java application that runs on Mac and Windows, directly off a CD/DVD with no installation. Now, I need to store a file containing per-user data (think favourites etc.) somewhere on the local file system, so that it can be written to. So, where do you think is a good location for this file? I am thinking something like: <USER_DOCUMENTS_AND_SETTINGS>/application data/myapp/favourites.db for windows <USER_HOME_DIR>/.myapp/favourites.db for mac/nix Thoughts? And does anyone know the best way to determine these paths within Java?
