    Hi all, I have one question about EF. If I understand correctly EF does not support Contains. I try to achieve this: I have column(nvarchar) with this: for ex.row1. 1;3;4;5,row2. 3;4;6 row3. 7;8;16 etc. I have list(of string) with 1,6. My goal is to get row1 and row2 in result set. I try with linq to entity and with linq to sql but i can't get this right. I stuck with this and any help would be appreciated... Tnx

  • Generic SQL builder .NET

    I'm looking for a way to write an SQL statement in C# targeting different providers. A typical example of SQL statements differentiating is the LIMIT in PostgreSQL vs. TOP in MSSQL. Is the only way to solve SQL-syntax like the two above to write if-statements depending on which provider the user selects or using try catch statements as flow control (LIMIT didn't work, I'll try TOP instead)? I've seen the LINQ Take method, but I'm wondering if one can do this without LINQ? In other words, does C# have some generic SQL Provider class that I have failed to find that can be used?

Try specifying the type arguments explicitly.     So, I've been trying to rename some movie files using regular expressions, but so far I have been only marginally successful. The goal is to parse files like this: 2001.A.Space.Odyssey.1968.720p.BluRay.DD5.1.x264-LiNG.mkv And rename them Like this: 2001 A Space Odyssey (1968).mkv I created the pattern: ^(.+).(\d{4}).+.(mp4|avi|mkv)$ With the output: \1 (\2).\3 Now, this works perfectly fine when I have movies with one-word titles, but when there is more than one word separated by a period, the regex fails to grab anything. What am I doing wrong here?

    So, Notepad++ got updated to v6.0. One of their new features is PCRE (Perl Compatible Regular Expressions). I tried to use this new feature to find and replace things in a file. I tried the regular expression: {\$([a-zA-Z_]*)} and it yelled at me, saying "Invalid regular expression". I tested this regex in other programs (like my main IDE, Geany), and it worked fine. Why does this not work in Notepad++ 6.0?

    i know how to set variables and use subroutines with the nginx builtin perl module INSIDE a "server" directive but, what i need to do is to set/rewrite the current domain before ... let's say, we have a domain like admin.foobar.website.com i want that a request to foobar.othersite.com points to the first address ( obviously website.com and othersite.com are hosted on the same webserver running nginx :) ). For reasons i can't explain here, i can not use multiple server_name directive expressions, i have to do this before the server {} block, with perl or anyway possible. Thanks

I'm kind of new to linux, but I'm guessing that you could pass the output of a program to a particular script and have it display it in various colours, based on some regular expressions (constructed from some kind of config file perhaps).     I am currently using IIS 6 SMTP to send out some of our mail and I unfortunately amn't finding the logging performed by it to be verbose enough - nor am I able to customise it to the level I would find verbose enough. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a piece of third-party SMTP software which would allow for customisability of the logging down to the point where I can inject in my own columns or perform regular expressions on the outgoing message data or headers.

I would like to setup some regular expressions or simply text strings and be notified (by sound or some tooltip) when this content appears in stdout. If not specific in putty, how can I get it done? There used to be a similar feature in older version of KDE's konsole terminal, but even now I can't see it.

    Which platform as the edge today in 2012 with the rise of cloud computing, mobile development and the revolution of HTML5/Javascript between J2EE, .Net framework and IOS Objective-C ??? I want to start learning 1 language between Java, C# and Objective-C and get back into programming after 14 years and I don't know which to choose I need expert advices... I already know a little C++ and I remember my concepts in example pointers arithmetic, class etc so I tend to prefer learning C# and Objective-C but I've been told by some experienced programmers that Windows 8 could flop and .Net could be going away slowly since C++ and Html5/Javascript could be king in mobile is that true ? and that C# is more advanced compared to Java with Linq/Lambda... but not truly as portable if we consider android, etc but Java as a lot going for him too Scala, Clojure, Groovy, JRuby, JPython etc etc so I am lost Please help me, and don't close this right away I really need help and expert advices thanks you very much ANSWER : ElYusubov : thanks for everything please continue with the answers/explanations I just did some native C++ in dos mode in 1998 before Cli and .Net I don't know the STL,Templates, Win32 or COM but I remember a little the concept of memory management and oop etc I already played around a little with C# 1.0 in 2002 but things changed a lot with linq and lambda... I am here because I talked with some experienced programmers and authors of some the best selling programming books like apress wrox and deitel and they told me a few things are likely to happen like .Net could be on his way out because of Html5/Javascript combo could kill xaml and C++ native apps on mobile dev will outperform them by a lot... Secondly ios and android are getting so popular that mobile dev is the future so Objective-C is very hard to ignore so why get tied down in Windows long term (.Net) compared to Java (android)... but again android is very fragmented, they also said Windows 8 RT will give you access to only a small part of the .Net framework... so that's what they think so I don't know which direction to choose I wanted to learn C# & .Net but what if it die off or Windows 8 flop Windows Phone marketshare really can't compare to ios... so I'll be stuck that's why I worry is Java safer long term or more versatile if you want 'cause of the support for android ??

NHibernate allows you to force loading additional references (many to one, one to one) or collections (one to many, many to many) in a query. You must know, however, that this is incompatible with paging. It’s easy to see why.   • Generate Strongly Typed Observable Events for the Reactive Extensions for .NET (Rx)

    I must have tried reading through the various explanations and introductions to the new Reactive Extensions for .NET before the concepts finally started sinking in.  The article that gave me the ah-ha moment was over on SilverlightShow.net and titled Using Reactive Extensions in Silverlight.  The author did a good job comparing the "normal" way of handling events vs. the new "reactive" methods. Admittedly, I still have more to learn about the Rx Framework, but I wanted to put together a sample project so I could start playing with the new Observable and IObservable<T> constructs.  I decided to throw together a whiteboard application in Silverlight based on the Drawing with Rx example on the aforementioned article.  At the very least, I figured I would learn a thing or two about a new technology, but my real goal is to create a fun application that I can share with the kids since they love drawing and coloring so much!               // additional members omitted...         }     } The source code contains a static Events class with prefedined members for various categories (Key, Mouse, etc.).  There is also an Events.tt template that you can customize to generate additional event categories for any .NET type.  All you should have to do is add the name of your class to the types collection near the top of the template:     types = new Dictionary<String, Type>()     {         //{ "Microsoft.Maps.MapControl.Map, Microsoft.Maps.MapControl", null }         { "System.Windows.FrameworkElement, System.Windows", null },         { "Whiteboard.MainPage, Whiteboard", null }     }; The template is also a bit rough at this point, but at least it generates code that *should* compile.  Please let me know if you run into any issues with it.  Some people have reported errors when trying to use T4 templates within a Silverlight project, but I was able to get it to work with a little black magic...  You can download the source code for this project or play around with the live demo.  Just be warned that it is at a very early stage so don't expect to find much today.  I plan on adding alot more options like pen colors and sizes, saving, printing, etc. as time permits.  HINT: hold down the ESC key to erase!
