  • What is "Either the application has not called WSAStartup, or WSAStartup failed"

    - by Am1rr3zA
    I develop a program which connect to a web-server through network every thing works fine until I try to use some dongle to protect my software. the dongle has network feature too and it's API work under network infrastructure. when I added the Dongle checking code to my program I got this error: "Either the application has not called WSAStartup, or WSAStartup failed" I don't have any idea what is going on? I put the block of code which encounter exception here. the scenario I got the exception is I log in to the program (everything works fine) the plug out the dongle then the program stop and ask for dongle and I plug in the dongle again and try to log in bu I got exception on line response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); DongleService unikey = new DongleService(); checkDongle = unikey.isConnectedNow(); if (checkDongle) { isPass = true; this.username = txtbxUser.Text; this.pass = txtbxPass.Text; this.IP = combobxServer.Text; string uri = @"https://" + combobxServer.Text + ":5002num_events=1"; request = (HttpWebRequest)WebRequest.Create(uri); request.Proxy = null; request.Credentials = new NetworkCredential(this.username, this.pass); ServicePointManager.ServerCertificateValidationCallback = ((sender, certificate, chain, sslPolicyErrors) => true); response = (HttpWebResponse)request.GetResponse(); Properties.Settings.Default.User = txtbxUser.Text; int index = _servers.FindIndex(p => p == combobxServer.Text); if (index == -1) { _servers.Add(combobxServer.Text); Config_Save.SaveServers(_servers); _servers = Config_Save.LoadServers(); } Properties.Settings.Default.Server = combobxServer.Text; // also save the password if (checkBox1.CheckState.ToString() == "Checked") Properties.Settings.Default.Pass = txtbxPass.Text; Properties.Settings.Default.settingLoginUsername = this.username; Properties.Settings.Default.settingLoginPassword = this.pass; Properties.Settings.Default.settingLoginPort = "5002"; Properties.Settings.Default.settingLoginIP = this.IP; Properties.Settings.Default.isLogin = "guest"; Properties.Settings.Default.Save(); response.Close(); request.Abort(); this.isPass = true; this.Close(); } else { MessageBox.Show("Please Insert Correct Dongle!", "Dongle Error", MessageBoxButtons.OK, MessageBoxIcon.Stop); }

  • cpio VS tar and cp

    - by Tim
    I just learned that cpio has three modes: copy-out, copy-in and pass-through. I was wondering what are the advantages and disadvantages of cpio under copy-out and copy-in modes over tar. When is it better to use cpio and when to use tar? Similar question for cpio under pass-through mode versus cp. Thanks and regards!

  • Log files for group policy application deployment

    - by Cyril
    I'm looking into using group policy to deploy a couple of applications. I want to have the log of each installation written to a shared folder on a file server for tracking purposes. I can create the log if I pass the appropriate parameters. For example: msiexec /i Package.msi /l*vx c:\Package.log However using group policy for the deployment, you can't pass any parameters to the installation file. Is there anyway to specify the log file location in the process of creating the msi package?

  • "ResolveAssemblyReference" task fails and System.BadImageFormatException, but assembly isn't used an

    - by bdwakefield
    I am getting an error about the assembly "C:\Ora10g\bin\Zip.exe". The trouble is this solution does NOT use anything in Oracle at all. I could not find a single reference to 10g anywhere in the project. I inherited this from another person who left our group. He never had this issue. Another member of my team said he got this before but reinstalling the client portion of 10g fixed it. No such luck there. I even tried using WinGrep to search the entire solution folder for "Ora10g" but it wasn't there. Any ideas? I can't build this solution until I can figure out how to get rid of this false reference to Oracle. VS 2005 solution. Contains a couple WinForm apps, a couple class libraries, and a web service. The error occurs in the main class library project. Here is the error message: Error 1 The "ResolveAssemblyReference" task failed unexpectedly. - by norbertB
    I'm working an project (pure hobby, "Sharping my skills") which has one unified back-end and multiple front-ends (ASP.NET MVC 1.0/JQuery and Silverlight 2). When I try to add reference to my business layer assembly in the Silverlight 2 project (VS2008); It gets rejected, because it's not a Silverlight assembly. Is their a way to include and reference a non-Silverlight assembly in a Silverlight app?

  • Compile Error: Ticks must be between DateTime.MinValue.Ticks and DateTime.MaxValue.Ticks. Parameter

    - by mickyjtwin
    I have a Visual Studio 2008 solution that when I build, returns the following error: Ticks must be between DateTime.MinValue.Ticks and DateTime.MaxValue.Ticks. Parameter name: ticks There is no reference file/line/column in the error. Becoming quite frustrating as the solution builds in the end, however I cannot debug. In the solution, there is no reference/using to DateTime.MinValue.Ticks at all...

  • Dots and spaces in variable names from external sources are converted to underscores

    - by Brandon
    Trying a bit of AJAX, and I find that much of my data is littered with underscores! Documentation confirms that this is working as intended. Any way to pass my form information to PHP intact? I'm using CodeIgniter, so my pass looks like /controller/function/variable, receiving controller: controller{ function($v=0){#what once was hello world is now hello_world...} } I can't very well do an undo, data might contain an underscore. Thanks, Brandon

  • Weak References and Disposable objects.

    - by Steve Sheldon
    In C# it is possible to create weak references to objects as described here: WeakReference Class In .net some classes also implement the IDisposable interface. Calling the Dispose method of this interface is performed to manually dispose of any managed or unmanaged resources currently being held onto. An example might be a Bitmap object or class. If I assign an object that implements IDisposable to a weak reference, will Dispose be called if the weak reference collects the object?

  • WCF : FaultContract(typeof(ExceptionDetail)) issue

    I have put the attribute [FaultContract(typeof(ExceptionDetail))] for my operation contract. But when I comment out the FaultContract Attribute, I am able to add the wcf service reference th' my client app. Would appreciate if somebody can help me solve this mystery. Thanks

  • realloc(): invalid next size

    - by Kewley
    I'm having a problem with the realloc function. I'm using C only (so no vector) with LibCurl. The problem I'm having is that I'm getting the following error (realloc(): invalid next size) on the 12th iteration of the write_data function (the function I pass to Curl as a callback, it is called each time libcurl has some data to pass back (data is passed in chunks) ). Trace: Source: http://pastebin.com/WBWhV5fr Thanks in advance,

  • Piping a bash variable into awk and storing the output

    - by Andrew Smith
    Hello, To illustrate my problem, TEST="Hi my name is John" OUTP=`echo $TEST | awk '{print $3}'` echo $OUTP What I would expect this to do is pass the $TEST variable into awk and store the 3rd word into $OUTP. Instead I get "Hi: not found", as if it is expecting the input to be a file. If I pass just a string instead of a variable, however, there is no problem. What would be the best way to approach this? Thanks all!

  • spymemcached - is it possible to disable the logging system?

    - by Kico Lobo
    Hi, we are using the spymemcached memcached client but we didn't discovered how we could disable the logging system. How could we at runtime change the current logging system to something like log4j or sl4j? Notice: We could pass some VM arguments, but the problem is: we can't change our server configuration. Is it possible to pass these VM arguments at runtime? If possible, how could we do that?

  • Creating a bitmask parameter for a function or method

    - by synic
    I noticed a lot of Android functions have a parameter that you can pass in that's a bitmask, for different options, like on PendingIntent, you can pass in things like you can call getActivity() with PendingIntent.FLAG_CANCEL_CURRENT|PendingIntent.FLAG_NO_CREATE. I'm wondering how I can create a function that has a parameter like this?
