  • What's the smallest DirectX installer I can distribute in my Software?

    My application uses DirectX 9.0c. There are many installers for the end-user run-times, ranging from 400Kb to 100Mb+ and obviously I don't want to bloat my installer file. However, I believe there are potentially legal restrictions which mean I can't just distribute whichever MS installers I might choose. This is the one I'd ideally like to include, is it the best /correct one?

  • Git - how do I view the change history of a file

    How can I view the change history of an individual file, complete with what has changed ? I have got as far as : git log -- filename which shows me the commit history of the file, but how do I get at the content of each of the changes ? Thanks - I'm trying to make the transition from MS SourceSafe and that used to be a simple right click / show history.

  • Alternate for MoveTo and LineTo in win32, MFC

    Hi i am working on some high resolution display features in which have to draw the vertical line , i am using Moveto() and lineTO() , but it is much time taking... can anyone suggest me , what we can use instead of it ...to optimize the performance... see the scene is , in order to draw 100 Vertical lines it is taking 84ms time, we need to reduce it to 5 ms something.. please refer me any alternate fot that.     I am creating an HTML document which we are then pushing out to MS Word using a "application/msword" content type. This works so far except that the files open in Word with Web View. Once Normal View is selected all works fine. Is there any way to force Word to open with Normal View instead of Web View?

  • How does Dropbox use Python on Windows and OS X?

    In Windows the Dropbox client uses python25.dll and the MS C runtime libraries (msvcp71.dll, etc). On OS X the Python code is compiled bytecode (pyc). My guess is they are using a common library they have written then just have to use different hooks for the different platforms. What method of development is this? It clearly isn't IronPython or PyObjC. This paradigm is so appealing to me, but my CS foo and Google foo are failing me.

    I have a Windows app called via Shell from MS Word that reads and writes to Sqlite. I'm porting it to Mac. On windows I have a batch file: SQLite3.exe pathtodb\databasename <sqlitecommands.txt This batch calls the Sqlite command line program, attachs the database, and reads the command from sqlitecommands.txt. The sqlitecommands is dynamically modified(by Word VBA) to read (Select) Write (Update) to/from the database. What is the format of an applescript to do the same thing in Mac OSX?

    Here are the GDI functions Chord() provided by MFC: BOOL Chord( int x1, int y1, int x2, int y2, int x3, int y3, int x4, int y4 ); BOOL Chord( LPCRECT lpRect, POINT ptStart, POINT ptEnd ); It seems to me that no such method is privided by GDI+ (the Graphics class), so how do I implement my own Chord function (with the exact same prototype) ? By the way, I just don't understand why does MS just don't provide them. Thanks.

    This may be a silly question but I was under the impression that it was possible to use IronRuby and MS Visual Studio 2010 together to sort of build interfaces\edit XAML in one window and code ruby in the other? Is this only possible to do with C#, Basic and C++ ? I've browsed SO and seen some IronRuby snippets like this one: button1.click do |sender, args| MessageBox.show("Hello World!") end So it stands to reason you can create GUIs somehow, but is the visual gui creator not available for ironruby?
