• How to change Controllers/Models source directory in CodeIgniter

  I need to load controllers and models from a different folder than the default one. I am using a Linux system. I am building a simple CI application for some people, for use on a shared hosting I own. But I want to give them access only to /views folder and some /config files. And this is why I need to store the controllers and models in a different folder on the same level as /public_html folder or maybe somewhere in the linux system. I consider this would be a better solution than encoding files

• php mysql flex unicode

  I have a problem with saving the £ symbol to a mysql database. I am running a flex front end, with a php + mysql backend When I save a record from flex, the string gets sent to the server as "This amount is £10" php views the string as above, and when it gets saved into the DB, it gets saved as "This amount is £10". My understanding is that this is correct based on MySQL or PHP is appending a  whenever the £ is used I now retrieve the above record, and it gets sent to flex as "This amount is £10". Flex correctly displays this in a textarea as "This amount is £10" I change another field in the same record in flex, and re-save the transaction. The string now gets sent to the server as "This amount is £10" The record is now saved into the DB as "The amount is £10". Each time the record is re-saved, this effect snowballs. Thanks for any advice you can give.

  Hi, I am pretty new to MVC and I am looking for a way to design my models. I have the MVC web site project and another class library that takes care of data access and constructing the business objects. If I have in that assembly a class named Project that is a business object and I need to display all projects in a view ... should I make another model class Project? In this case the classes will be identical. Do I gain something from doing a new model class? I don't like having in views references to objects from another dll ... but i don't like duplicating the code neither. Did you encounter the same problem?

• Coldfusion 9 Inter portlet communication?

  I am having a hard time trying to find documentation at achieving IPC using Coldfusion 9 portlets under JBOSS. Does anyone have any good references I can take a look at? Or maybe some example code that I can go off of? So far I've been successful in getting my portlets working under Liferay (JBOSS), form submission, different views (edit/help) all work fine. Just need to know how to have one portlet on the page talk with another portlet. So far have been unsuccessful :( Anyone?

• Using asp.net mvc model binders generically

  I have a hierarchy of classes that all derive from a base type and the base type also implements an interface. What I'm wanting to do is have one controller to handle the management of the entire hierarchy (as the actions exposed via the controller is identical). That being said, I want to have the views have the type specific fields on it and the model binder to bind against a hidden field value. something like: <input type="text" name="model.DerivedTypeSpecificField" /> <input type="hidden" name="modelType" value="MyDerivedType" /> That being said, the asp.net mvc model binders seem to require the concrete type that they will be creating, because of that reason I would need to create a different controller for every derived type. Has anyone does this before or know how to manipulate the model binder to behave in this way? I could write my own model binder, but I'm not wanting anything past the basic model binding behavior of assign properties and building arrays on the target type. Thanks!

• Export view data programmatically in Access/SQL Server

  We have an Access application front-end connected to a SQL Server 2000 database. We would like to be able to programmatically export the results of some views to whatever format we can (ideally Excel, but CSV / tab delimited is fine). Up until now we've just hit F11, opened up the view, and hit File-Save As, but we're starting to get results with more than 16,000 results, which can't be exported. I'd like some sort of server side stored procedure we can trigger that will do this. I'm aware of the sp_makewebtask procedure that does this, however it requires administrative rights on the server, and for obvious reasons we can't give that to everyone. Any ideas?

• What is faster? Drawing or Compositing?

  I make extensive use of -drawRect: to do some nice animations. A timer tries to fire 30 times per second with -setNeedsDisplay, but it feels like just 20 times. Also I can't use -setNeedsDisplayInRect: because the animation covers the entire thing. Would it help to take some of those drawing operations out of -drawRect: and move them to a subview? -drawRect has to do less then, but instead the OS will have more work with compositing views. Is there a rule of thumb which one is more worse? I remember from an apple text that they claimed Core Animation doesn't redraw during animation. So is that their secret of speed? Using subviews in animations?

I have a controller named "Account" (singular), which should handle various settings for the currently logged in user. class AccountController < ApplicationController def index end def settings end def email_settings end end How would I set-up the routes for this in a proper manner? At the moment I have: match 'account(/:action)', :to => 'account', :as => 'account' This however does not automagically produce methods like account_settings_path but only account_path Is there any better practice of doing this? Remember the Account controller doesn't represent a controller for an ActiveModel. If this is in fact the best practice, how would I generate links in my views for the actions? url_to :controller => :account, :action => :email_settings ? Thanks!

  Hi, I entered some products data into a table using a migration. I need to expire the page and fragment cache when I update, add, delete products from this table. When I reload my app in the browser it still gives me a cache hit. Cached fragment hit: views/listed_products (0.2ms) Can someone tell me how to expire this cache. Broadly, I can divide the tasks in following two categories: 1) Views from the website For this part, I just use the SQL query and execute it in my facebook App. 2) Create Cotent Initially, I tried this by taking the values in a form and then inserting those values into the drupal database myself.   I'm trying to figure out how I can call a function from another one of my classes. I'm using a RootViewController to setup one of my views as lets say AnotherViewController So in my AnotherViewController im going to add in on the .h file @class RootViewController And in the .m file im going to import the View #import "RootViewController.h" I have a function called: -(void)toggleView { //do something } And then in my AnotherViewController I have a button assigned out as: -(void)buttonAction { //} In the buttonAction I would like to be able to call the function toggleView in my RootViewController. Can someone clarify on how I do this. I've tried adding this is my buttonAction: RootViewController * returnRootObject = [[RootViewController alloc] init]; [returnRootObject toggleView]; But I dont think that's right. • Updating Label on previously loaded view?

  I am working on a simple app tab-bar based application that has two views. The first is the main application and the second is a simple instruction screen. What I am trying to do is create a update a label on that second screen as things change in the main app. Because the second screen is only simple with one label and some text I am not unloading it once its loaded. After the first viewDidLoad I can update the label just fine, but after that is there a way to catch successive view switches from the tab-bar menu so I can update the label? many thanks gary

  Hi, Which data structure can perform insertion, deletion and searching operation in O(1) time in the worst case. We may assume the set of elements are integers drawn from a finite set 1,2,...,n, and initialization can take O(n) time. I can only think of implementing a hash table. Implementing it with Trees will not give O(1) time complexity for any of the operation. Or is it possible?? Kindly share your views on this, or any other data structure apart from these.. Thanks..

• Problems crossing the boundary between protected greasemonkey execution space and the unsafeWindow l

  Hi guys. Here is my problem: I've registered some callbacks into a Yahoo event driven webpage (betfair.com market views) and am trapping the betsPlaced events with a handler. So far so simple. Next stage is to get the event back into greasemonkey land, and while I know that from greasemoney space you can call unsafeWindow.stuff, there is no reverse operation (by design). So if I want to send the contents of the event over, say, a cometd queue, my carefully set up jquery, greasemonkey, YUI2, betfair environment fails by telling me that unsafeWindow processes cant call GM_ajax stuff. This is obviously safe and sane, but it basically stops me doing what I want to do. Has anyone tried doing this (ignore the cometd stuff, just general ajax calls) and succeeded? I've had a look at pages like this: http://wiki.greasespot.net/0.7.20080121.0%2B_compatibility but it doesnt appear to work for all the calls.

  I am generating data validation javascript in an Asp.Net MVC 3 application with the following code [DisplayName("Latitude Degrees")] [Range(0, 90, ErrorMessage = "Latitude degrees must be between {1} and {2}")] public Int32? LatitudeDegrees { get; set; } on a view model. When it was MVC2 this worked just fine, if I entered a value outside of 0-90 in the textbox I got the validation warnings. Since I moved the application to MVC 3, whenever I put any value into the texbox, legal or illegal I get the validation error appear next to it. I have EnableClientValidation set to true and UseUnobtrusiveJavascript is off (nothing in web.config or the views to turn it on).

  I want track which articles a user read on a website. Then with that data, be able to know: 1) - top N articles read in the last hour/day/week/month 2) - show recommendations ("users who read this, also read that") 3) - same as (1), but for a specific section on the site Since the site has high traffic ( 1M views/day) i can't use a RDBMS for this. I started to look at NoSQL (cassandra specifically) and since it's all new to me i'm not sure it's what i need or not. I'm possitive i'm not the first one who needs something like this but couldn't find links/articles giving me pointers on how to do something like this. Is NoSQL the best aproach? The error occurred while evaluating nil.url_for) on line #5 of app/views/sitemap/_sitemap.builder: I assume this means that ActionController::UrlWriter is not included in the right place, but I really don't know
