• ASP.net error message when using REST starter kit

  Hi all, I've written some code using the REST starter kit and it works fine on my development machine. However, when I upload it to our server the page gives me the following error message... CS1684: Warning as Error: Reference to type 'System.Runtime.Serialization.Json.DataContractJsonSerializer' claims it is defined in 'c:\WINNT\assembly\GAC_MSIL\System.ServiceModel.Web\3.5.0.0__31bf3856ad364e35\System.ServiceModel.Web.dll', but it could not be found I've removed code line by line and it appears that the following line of code is triggering the error... HttpContent newOrganizationContent = HttpContentExtensions.CreateXmlSerializable(newOrganizationXml); Really haven't got a clue how to fix it. I assumed it might be because it needs a newer version of the framework to run, but looking in IIS it says it's running version 2.0.50727 which I think is the lates version because it says that even when we're using framework 3.5 Very confused, any ideas? • Good memory profiling, leak and error detection for Windows

  I'm currently looking for a good memory / leak detection tool for Windows. A few years ago, I used Numega's Boundschecker, which was VERY good. Right now it seems to have been sold to Compuware, which apparently sold it again to some other company. Trying to evaluate a demo of the current version has been so far very frustrating, in the best "enterprisy" tradition: (a) no advertised prices on their website (Great Red Flashing Lights of Warning); (b) contact form asked for number of employeers and other private information; (c) no response to my emails asking for a evaluation and price. I had to conclude that BoundsChecker is now one of "those" products. Y'know, the type where you innocently call and tomorrow 3 men in black suits turn up at your building wanting to talk to you about "partnerships" and not-so-secretly gauge the size of your company and therefore how much they can get away with charging you. SO, rant aside, can anyone recommend an excellent memory checking/leak detection tool, how much it costs, and suggestions for where to buy?

• How to retrieve email from GMail account using PHP?

  Hi, I'm trying to automatically retrieve some email from my GMail account for further parsing, but I can't get my head around on how to do that. I've searched the internets and it suggested that I use PHP's imap functions, like this: $server = '{imap.gmail.com:993/ssl}'; $connection = imap_open($server, '[email protected]', 'password'); But using that code, I get: Warning: imap_open() [function.imap-open]: Couldn't open stream {imap.gmail.com:993/ssl} Any idea what I am doing wrong? Any server setting that might be preventing me from making a connection to GMail (I'm using a shared service)? Is the address even right? Has anyone ever managed to do something like this? I've found tons of examples on how to send email via GMail, but very little of retrieving. Any help is much appreciated.

• Solr dataimport skips entities in my data-config.xml

  My data-config.xml defines 3 different entities under the document tag (lets call them foo, bar and baz). When I issue a basic full import localhost:8983/solr/dataimport?command=full-import, only 2 of the 3 entities get indexed (foo and bar are in my index but baz never makes it). However, if I then issue a command to just import baz via localhost:8983/solr/dataimport?command=full-import&entity=baz&clean=false it adds baz documents just fine and the index then has all 3 types. Does anyone have any thoughts on why one entity gets skipped in the general data import but then still works okay if I specifically call it out? Is there an error/warning log I can check? Nothing bad shows up in /solr/logs/ but those just appear to be request logs.

  I usually define my string variables in vb.net as Dim f_sName as string=String.Empty f_sName = "foo" Given the immutable nature of strings in .net, is there a better way to initialize strings and deal with the "Variable 'f_sName ' is used before it has been assigned a value. A null reference exception could result at runtime." warning? Also for classes that do not have constructors which accept no arguments such as System.Net.Sockets.NetworkStream, what is the best way to define and initialize a variable of that type? • What's an easy way to set up object communication in Obj-C?

  I am trying to send a slider value from a controller object to a method of a model object. The later is implemented in the separate file and I have appropriate headers. I think the problem is that I am not sure how to instantiate the receiver in order to produce a working method for the controller. Here is the controller's method. -(IBAction)setValue:(id)slider {[Model setValue:[slider floatValue]];} @implementation Model -(void)setValue:(float)n{ printf("%f",n); } @end What I get is 'Model' may not respond to '+setValue' warning and no output in my console. • What is a read only collection in C#?

  I ran a security code analyst i found myself having a CA2105 warning. I looked at the grade tampering example. I didnt realize you can assign int[] to a readonly int. I thought readonly was like the C++ const and makes it illegal. The How to Fix Violations suggest i clone the object (which i dont want to do) or 'Replace the array with a strongly typed collection that cannot be changed'. I clicked the link and see 'ArrayList' and adding each element one by one and it doesnt look like you can prevent something adding more. • What CPAN module can summarize Perl error logs?

  I'm maintaining some website code that will soon dump all its errors and warnings into a log file. In order to make this a bit more pro-active I plan to parse this log file daily, summarize the warnings and errors (i.e. count the occurrence of each specific one and group by either warning/error) and then email this to the devs on the project. This would likely admittedly be rather trivial with a hash and some further fiddling, I wondered if there is a suitable module on CPAN that I could use to do this task. It would either be one that summarizes specifically Perl error/warnings logs or one that summarizes arbitrary text files. Any suggestions?

  While creating JavaScript with ASP.NET MVC I noticed several scope warnings and realized that I am missing something with understanding the variable scope inside the switch / case statement. Warning: 'i' is already defined referring to case b and case c My code looks similar to this: switch(element) { case 'a': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; case 'b': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; case 'c': for(var i=0; i < count; i++){ do something } break; } I thought scope ended with each break statement but it seems that scope does not end until the end of the switch/case. Also, I noticed one other thing. When I access localhost locally then I am asked to enter user/pass, but if I access remotely the I get the following warning: Under Construction The site you were trying to reach does not currently have a default page.   I am trying to pull dynamics from a load that I run using bash. I have gotten to a point where I get the string I want, now from this I want to pull certain information that can vary. The string that gets returned is as follows: Records: 2910 Deleted: 0 Skipped: 0 Warnings: 0 Each of the number can and will vary in length, but the overall structure will remain the same. What I want to do is be able to get these numbers and load them into some bash variables ie: RECORDS=?? DELETED=?? SKIPPED=?? WARNING=?? In regex I would do it like this: Records: (\d*?) Deleted: (\d*?) Skipped (\d*?) Warnings (\d*?) and use the 4 groups in my variables.

• Trouble using SFML with GCC and OS X

  I've been trying to get SFML working for a while now and I've been trying to get it working using GCC. I'm on OS X by the way. I followed the standard Linux instructions and using the Linux 64-bit download however when it comes to compiling... g++ -o testing main.cpp -lsfml-system This happens: main.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: main.cpp:7: error: ‘class sf::Clock’ has no member named ‘GetElapsedTime’ main.cpp:9: error: ‘class sf::Clock’ has no member named ‘GetElapsedTime’ main.cpp:10: error: ‘Sleep’ is not a member of ‘sf’ So I thought it could be due to not using includes, so I changed my gcc compile command to: g++ -o testing main.cpp -I ~/SFML-1.6/include/ -lsfml-system and now I'm getting this error: ld: warning: ignoring file /usr/local/lib/libsfml-system.so, file was built for unsupported file format which is not the architecture being linked (x86_64) Undefined symbols for architecture x86_64: "sf::Clock::Clock()", referenced from: _main in ccZEiB7b.o "sf::Clock::GetElapsedTime() const", referenced from: _main in ccZEiB7b.o "sf::Sleep(float)", referenced from: _main in ccZEiB7b.o ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture x86_64 collect2: ld returned 1 exit status** And I have no idea what to do to fix it.

• PHP Extension using libtidy compiles, but does not load

  I wrote an extension in C++ that uses libtidy, and it runs perfectly under PHP when I compile PHP --with-tidy. However, it would be nice to have the extension run on a vanilla PHP. When I try to use the extension, I get something like: PHP Warning: PHP Startup: Unable to load dynamic library 'extension.so': undefined symbol: tidyCleanAndRepair in Unknown on line 0 and the extension is not loaded. Obviously, the official tidy extension works fine. I have the relevant libtidy development packages installed on the system, and it compiles+links without a problem. I have tried to look through the code for the tidy extension, but it is a huge mass of macros - copying pieces at random felt like cargo code. Besides linking to the library with PHP_ADD_LIBRARY_WITH_PATH(tidy, $TIDY_LIBDIR, TIDY_SHARED_LIBADD), Is there a PHP extension or C statement that fixes this error? Thanks in advance!!
