• Is there a service for monitoring secured WCF endpoints in the same way that HTTP monitoring service

  Hi all, A service I have in WCF occasionally goes down due a problem with a COM component. While I am troubleshooting I would like to setup another host to make regular calls to this service to monitor availability. It is slightly more complicated that a simple HTTP call though as the service is secured by SSL and WCF authentication (username / password). I'd also like to be able to parse successful calls to see if they return warning / fail states from my code. Would you recommend any monitoring providers for this or is it beyond the simple monitoring they normally provide? Regards Ryan

• java serialization and final fields

  I have an class defining an immutable value type that I now need to serialize. The immutability comes from the final fields which are set in the constructor. I've tried serializing, and it works (surprisingly?) - but I've no idea how. Here's an example of the class public class MyValueType implements Serializable { private final int value; private transient int derivedValue; public MyValueType(int value) { this.value = value; this.derivedValue = derivedValue(value); } // getters etc... } Given that the class doesn't have a no arg constructor, how can it be instantiated and the final field set? (An aside - I noticed this class particularly because IDEA wasn't generating a "no serialVersionUID" inspection warning for this class, yet successfully generated warnings for other classes that I've just made serializable.)

• How to use sans-serif family, arial font in matplotlib, in ubuntu 12.04 lts?

  I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS and the Scipy stack. I tried to set in matplotlibrc to use sans-serif family, arial font as default. While this has been working on my Windows computer, it reported the following warning: UserWarning: findfont: Font family ['sans-serif'] not found. Falling back to Bitstream Vera Sans (prop.get_family(), self.defaultFamily[fontext])) And it seems that the font is either not installed, or in a wrong name. I think I have installed the TrueType font (by googling), but I'd really appreciate it if anyone could help me to set the font family in the system with the name 'sans-serif' and find the relevant font files that belongs to this folder. How can I change the length of this primary key to 30 WITHOUT delete previosly all the 30 relationship. 2,A similar question. I need add a compose primary key to my PK "local_number". I need Add a "Date" as composed PK. Then access just allow this if I first delete all relationships. How can Avoid this warning and change my PK ignoring this message.

• How to generate a compiler error based on an attribute being missing in C#?

  I create a number of add-ins for the Revit Structure API. Each tool has to habe a class which implements the interface IExternalCommand. In the latest version of Revit, for your tool to work you need to have two attributes on the class that implements that interface: [Regeneration(RegenerationOption.Manual)] [Transaction(TransactionMode.Automatic)] The values in brackets can change, but there must be something there. Often I am finding myself forgetting to put the attributes on, then when it comes to runtime it crashes. Is there any way in Visual Studio 2010 to add a compiler warning or error saying that if your class implements that interface it must have those 2 attributes? I have resharper if that helps. Can anyone point me into the right direction?

• PDF Disable Anti-alias on Lines

  I'm creating a dynamically generated PDF using FPDF. My PDF requires many exactly horizontal/vertical lines in a grid and when rendered they are anti-aliased and look very fuzzy and unacceptable to the client. I need to remove the anti-aliasing for these(or all) lines in the doc. I know this is possible because it's shown correctly in the adobe pdf specs itself http://www.adobe.com/devnet/acrobat/pdfs/PDF32000_2008.pdf (warning: big file) see the box in page 2 for how this should look. How would I duplicate the box shown on this page?

  I have an app with three tabs that switch views instantaneously when the user taps them. The first view is a table view selecting which 'location type' to filter by, to only show those pins (add those annotations) to the second view, a MapView. When a table cell is clicked, it switches instantaneously to the mapview, using this code: self.tabBarController.selectedIndex=1; However, I would like to do this with a slide-in-from-right animation, like the one you get when drilling down a hierarchy of table views. I tried this: [self.navigationController pushViewController:[self.tabBarController.viewControllers objectAtIndex:1] animated:YES]; which compiles without error or warning, but does not switch views. How do I 'apply' a navigation controller 'onto' a tab bar controller? Or is there some way to select another viewcontroller and specify an animation?

• Redmine connecting to SVN through SSL

  I am having trouble connecting Redmine to a locally hosted subversion repository using SSL. I suspect it's the self-signed certificate that usually triggers a warning in the SVN client and browser. When I try to connect to the local repo through SSL in Redmine, I get a red "Revision not available" error. When I try connecting through svn://, the connection times out, and I have to restart the web server. Connecting without SSL works without problems. It would be nice to run subversion on SSL to make it safely accessible from the outside as well. I could run the repository through plain HTTP but would like SSL for outside communication. As far as I understand, subversion can't be run both ways at the same time. Does anybody know what to do in such a situation? Is there a configuration setting to ignore invalid certificates somewhere?

When I add jConfirm after "return" it works...for a second. it pops the warning and then the page refreshes and the dialog box goes away. Does anyone know how to fix this?

• Client/JS Framework for "Unsaved Data" Protection?

  Hey all- we have a typical web application that is essentially a data entry application with lots of screens some of which have some degree of complexity. We need to provide that standard capability on making sure if the user forgets to click the "Save" button before navigating away or closing their browser they get a warning and can cancel (but only when there is unsaved or dirty data). I know the basics of what I've got to do-- in fact I'm sure I've done it all before over the years (tie in to onbeforeunload, track the "dirty" state of the page, etc...) but before I embark on coding this YET AGAIN, does anyone have some suggestions for libraries already out there (free or otherwise) that will help out? • What CPAN module can summarize error logs?

  I'm maintaining some website code that will soon dump all its errors and warnings into a log file. In order to make this a bit more pro-active i plan to parse this log file daily, summarize the warnings and errors (i.e. count the occurrence of each specific one and group by either warning/error) and then email this to the devs on the project. This would likely admittedly be rather trivial with a hash and some further fiddling, I wondered if there is a suitable module on CPAN that i could use to do this task. It would either be one that summarizes specifically perl error/warnings logs or one that summarizes arbitrary text files. Any suggestions?

  Hi, our webapp collects huge amount of data about user actions, network business, database load, etc etc etc All data is stored in warehouses and we have quite a lot of interesting views on this data. if something odd happens chances are, it shows up somewhere in the data. However, to manually detect if something out of the ordinary is going on, one has to continually look through this data, and look for oddities. My question: what is the best way to detect changes in dynamic data which can be seen as 'out of the ordinary'. Are bayesan filters (I've seen these mentioned when reading about spam detection) the way to go? Any pointers would be great! EDIT: To clarify the data for example shows a daily curve of database load. This curve typically looks similar to the curve from yesterday In time this curve might change slowly. It would be nice that if the curve from day to day changes say within some perimeters, a warning could go off. R

  In my VB.net apps i make use of Linq2SQL and Reportviewer with RDLC reports. With Visual Studio 2010 they upgraded this reportviewer component so you can use the newer RDL specification from 2008. Now I've a problem to show related objects. For example assume you provide an order to the datasource of the report and then you can show something like Fields!Customer.Value.Name where Customer is a related entity. • Custom certificate as proof of transaction

  I'm developing a site where a user conducts a given transaction and once completed, the user is issued with a 'secure certificate'. The certificate serves as proof of the transaction and the user is able to upload the certificate at a later stage, to view the details of the transaction. At the moment I'm using a custom XML document with encrypted fields. It works perfect, but I would like a standardized approach, such as an X.509 certificate. I'm no encryption expert, but from what I gather, X.509 is more geared towards SSL issued by a CA. Is it possible to create your own valid valid CRT file? As a test, I created a CRT file with the example provided on WikiPedia. However, when I open the file in Windows I get this warning: Invalid Public Key Security Object File - This file is invalid as the following: Security Certificate. Not having much luck here, so time to ask the experts. What direction should I be heading in? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

However when i run my code i get the following exception: StrongTypingException The value for column 'CANTITATE' in table 'XLSFacturi' is DBNull. How am I supposed to resolve this ?
