• Eclipse on windows doesnt start

  I usually do all my java development on linux, using fedora package manager setting up a development environment is easy and fast. Now I have to start using windows but I never used it for java development and im having a few difficulties having it setup. So I downloaded and installed thye java 6 JDK (just the standard edition, not the EE) and installed it. Next I downloaded eclipse classic package, which doesnt have an installer, you just unzip it and run it. I had to add the java bin directory to the PATH variable, which I did. But when I start eclipse.exe I get this: http://img02.imagefra.me/img/img02/1/12/12/f_12c33ivd2m_c79c09f.jpg I already made a new environment variable called CLASSPATH and add the d:/java sdk/lib directory to it, but it the same thing. Am I missing something? Thanks. UPDATE: so i wrote the path to the java.exe on the eclipse.ini file (linking to jvm.dll didnt work) and now it just opens a console window for a few seconds and then closes (doesnt output anything). also launching it like: java -jar plugins/org.eclipse.equinox.launcher_1.0.0.v20070208a.jar make the vm work for about 1-2 seconds and then it returns, with no outputs. UPDATE2: i didnt know it was writting a log file, found it and read it and it said i was using GWT x32 libraries on a x64 VM, so i just downloaded an eclipse x64 version and it worked. i still had to use the .ini trick to say where the JVM is installed. thanks a lot for the help.

• How to run R through PHP with exec?

  I am going to ask something, that I know that it has been asked already some times. But since, all of the past posts are quite old and none of them answer my problem..I try again. I am completely new in R language and relative new in php. What I want to do is to use the exec() function from php in order to execute a R script. Most of the people here will start talking about rapache, rserve and I don't know what else..but since I am not familiar with all these technologies, I prefer just using exec. The code I will show here is working just fine when I run it with Rscript from the terminal. # R script png("temp.png") plot(5,5) dev.off() But when I try to run it either with Rscript or with R CMD BATCH from PHP, like this: echo exec("Rscript my_rscript.R"); //OR //echo exec("R CMD BATCH my_rscript.R"); I get nothing back. I have checked if exec() function is available and if it works. Everything is ok with this. I read also, that I might have to change the permissions of the webserver...but I don't know how to do this in mamp. I hope I am clear with my problem and someone can help. Thanks Dimitris

  Hi guys, I want to implement a media recommendation engine. I saw a similar posts on this, but I think my requirements are bit different from those, so posting here. Here is the deal. I want to implement a recommendation engine for media players like VLC, which would be an engine that has to care for only single user. Like, it would be embedded in a media player on a PC which is typically used by single user. And it will start learning the likes and dislikes of the user and gradually learns what a user likes. Here it will not be able to find similar users for using their data for recommendation as its a single user system. So how to go about this? Or you can consider it as a recommendation engine that has to be put in say iPods, which has to learn about a single user and recommend music/Movies from the collections it has. I thought of start collecting the genre of music/movies (maybe even artist name) that user watches and recommend movies from the most watched Genre, but it look very crude, isn't it? So is there any algorithms I can use or any resources I can refer up to? Regards, MicroKernel :)

  I am sorry I have already asked this question on "Superuser", but nobody answers there, so I deleted it from "Superuser" and decided to post it here. Hope it's not a big crime, especially given the fact that I was firstly advised to use twill here on "StackOverflow" (not on "SuperUser") How do I start using twill? I have just downloaded it, unpacked it and clicked on the setup .py file in the folder. The black window (terminal) appeared for a moment and vanished. (I do have Python 2.5 installed on my computer - along with SDK from Google App Engine) In the twill documentation section it says: Downloading twill The latest release of twill is twill 0.9, released Thursday, December 27th, 2007; it is available for download at http://darcs.idyll.org/~t/projects/twill-0.9.tar.gz. • How to determine which source files are required for an Eclipse run configuration

  When writing code in an Eclipse project, I'm usually quite messy and undisciplined in how I create and organize my classes, at least in the early hacky and experimental stages. In particular, I create more than one class with a main method for testing different ideas that share most of the same classes. If I come up with something like a useful app, I can export it to a runnable jar so I can share it with friends. But this simply packs up the whole project, which can become several megabytes big if I'm relying on large library such as httpclient. Also, if I decide to refactor my lump of code into several projects once I work out what works, and I can't remember which source files are used in a particular run configuration, all I can do it copy the main class to a new project and then keep copying missing types till the new project compiles. Is there a way in Eclipse to determine which classes are actually used in a particular run configuration? EDIT: Here's an example. Say I'm experimenting with web scraping, and so far I've tried to scrape the search-result pages of both youtube.com and wrzuta.pl. I have a bunch of classes that implement scraping in general, a few that are specific to each of youtube and wrzuta. On top of this I have a basic gui common to both scrapers, but a few wrzuta- and youtube-specific buttons and options. The WrzutaGuiMain and YoutubeGuiMain classes each contain a main method to configure and show the gui for each respective website. Can Eclipse look at each of these to determine which types are referenced?

• Run a PHP script every second using CLI

  Hello, I have a dedicated server running Cent OS with a Parallel PLESK panel. I need to run a php script every second, that updates my database. These is no alternative way timewise, i have checked every method, it needs to be updated every second. I can find my script using the url: http://www.mysite.com/phpfile.php?key=123, and this has to be executed every second. Does anyone have any knowledge at all on doing this, i can not seem to find the answer. I heard about doing it with CLI and putty, but i have no knowledge of this at all. Or can this be done using the PLESK Panel? And can the file be executed locally every second. Like \phpfile.php If someone helps me on answering these question i would really appreciate it. Regards EDIT It has been a few months since i added this question. My cronjob is set to every minute. I have been running this for some time now in a test environment, and this works out great. It works really supperfast, and i see no increase in CPU nor Memory usage.

Is there anyway we can specify in the configuration file so that it will create at run time the log file inside of the folder somename_2010-04-09-23-03 folder..? • Error setting env thru subprocess.call to run a python script on a remote linux machine

  I am running a python script on a windows machine to invoke another python script on a remote linux machine. I am using subprocess.call with ssh to do this, like below: subprocess.call('ssh -i <identify file> username@hostname python <script_on_linux_machine>') and this works fine. However, if I want to set some environment variables, like below: subprocess.call('ssh -i <identify file> username@hostname python <script_on_linux_machine>', env={key1:value1}) it fails. I get the following error: ssh_connect: getnameinfo failed ssh: connect to host <hostname> port 22: Operation not permitted 255 I've tried splitting the ssh commands into list and passing. Didn't help. I've tried to run other 'local'(windows) commands thru subprocess.call() and tried setting the env. It works fine. I've tried to run other commands(such as ls) on the remote linux machine. Again, subprocess.call() works fine, as long as I don't try to set the environment. What am I doing wrong? Would I be able to set the environment for a python script on a remote machine? Any help will be appreciated.

I have a static method that pulls data from a resource and creates some runtime objects based on the data. static class Worker{ public static MyObject DoWork(string filename){ MyObject mo = new MyObject(); // ... does some work return mo; } } The method takes awhile (in this case it is reading 5-10mb files) and returns an object. I want to take this method and use it in a multiple thread situation so I can read multiple files at once. Design issues / guidelines aside, how would multiple threads access this code? Let's say I have something like this... class ThreadedWorker { public void Run() { Thread t = new Thread(OnRun); t.Start(); } void OnRun() { MyObject mo = Worker.DoWork("somefilename"); mo.WriteToConsole(); } } Does the static method run for each thread, allowing for parallel execution?

Using the example I am planning on storing the forms in a session namespace.   When running a bash script on ubuntu 9.10, I get different behavior from bash echo's "-e" option depending on whether or not I'm running as root. Consider this script: $ cat echo-test if [ "`whoami`" = "root" ]; then echo "Running as root" fi echo Testing /bin/echo -e /bin/echo -e "foo\nbar" echo Testing bash echo -e echo -e "foo\nbar" When run as non-root user, I see this output: $ ./echo-test Testing /bin/echo -e foo bar Testing bash echo -e foo bar When run as root, I see this output: $ sudo ./echo-test Running as root Testing /bin/echo -e foo bar Testing bash echo -e -e foo bar Notice the "-e" being echoed in the last case ("-e foo" instead of "foo" on the second-to-last line). When running a script as root, the echo command runs as if "-e" was given and, if -e is given, the option itself is echoed. I can understand some subtle differences in behavior between /bin/echo and bash echo, but I would expect bash echo to behave the same no matter which user invokes it. Anyone know why this is the case? Is this a bug in bash echo? FYI -- I'm running GNU bash, version 4.0.33(1)-release (x86_64-pc-linux-gnu)

• event listener says NetStream.Play.Start but I see no video

  I'm trying to test out the Adobe Media Server, and I'm following some tutorials in order to stream a video. I have a NetConnection which successfully connects to the application on the server, then I have the code below. It looks like it's supposed to play a video, but it doesn't. It creates the video object as a black square in the top left corner, and the event.info.code says NetStream.Play.Start, but I don't see the video playing. case "NetConnection.Connect.Success": var v:Video = new Video(); v.width=200; v.height=200; v.x=0; v.y=0; v.visible=true; v.opaqueBackground=false; stage.addChild(v); var ns:NetStream = new NetStream(nc); ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS,netStatusHandler); v.attachNetStream(ns); ns.play("mp4:polymorphics.f4v"); I can also try ns.play("rtmp://localhost/vod/mp4:tests/polymorphics.f4v"); but that gives me a Stream Not Found error The lines that begin with "ns" means that they're generated by my NetStream listener, as opposed to my NetConnection listener. Basically, I want to be able to assign a linq query to a gridview, and on the OnDataBound(e) event in my new extended gridview have it retrieve the count, using the IQueryable. • Visual Studio 2012 won't start

I've tried to repair, uninstall and install again and nothing. I tried to restore to a previous restore system point but nothing. The extensions I installed I can remember: VS10x Code Map VSCommands Visual SVN Nuget manager (all the above my colleagues have it too and it works fine for them) and: Web Essentials Visual Studio Color Theme Editor SlowCheetah Mobile Ready HTML5 Questions are: Anyone else has had this problem? Is there a way I can uninstall extensions from a command line or software? (I removed the extensions folder but that doesn't do anything) Can I repair the "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll"? Is it really a problem with this dll? I haven't been able to find any similar issue in other versions and because VS2012 is new doesn't seem to be much information either.

But perl script didn't work. When I run shell script by myself in my server, all four scripts in shell worked perfectly. However, when I run shell script from php, only perl script doesn't work.   I need to run code in a class declaration before its instanciation. This would be especially useful to automatically register classes in a factory. The Foo class being generated, I can't (and don't want to) register the classes in Main: I'd like to register all the exported classes in a specific package (or library). Ideally, this would be done through package introspection, which doesn't exist in ActionScript 3. Do you know any fix (or other solution) to my design issue?

  I'm trying to use Entity Framework for the first time on one of my projects. I'm using the code first workflow to automatically create my database. Intitaly setting up the database worked fine. Now I'm trying to migrate changes in my classes into the database. The tutorial I'm reading says I need to run "Enable-Migrations" in the package manager console. Yet when I do this I get the following error PM> Enable-Migrations System.Reflection.ReflectionTypeLoadException: Unable to load one or more of the requested types.   This is very frustrating, first lines of programming Powerpoint VBA after a long while .... Please help this is killing me Writing a small sub connecting to an action using name test Sub test() MSGBOX "this is a test " end sub I placed this in a module I just created and it works I copy the same test in named as a module and it does not work any more .... I'm trying to make PPT connect to events to do things on a per slide basis ..... using google.... this worked a few times ... but now nothing works any more. The simple test above fails since I renamed the module. As I further change the second routine to test1() ipv test None of the macros can be executed any more (module1 NOT CHNANGED) Module NAME..... contains the same code, except test1() ipv test. ... now all macro processing stops the color of text changes (as is clicked on it) but nothing gets obviously executed. Are things that unstable recenty in VBA for powerpoint 2010 how did I run: connect to empty slide using 3 lines test 1 test 2 test 3 on each of the lines I defined an action for each in different modules run: Go into slide show and on the first slide just click.... color changes but nothing happens any more Saved all closed restarted .... simply refuses except on first created pptm

  I'm working on an AngularJS web app with Twitter Bootstrap. The templates run twice. I don't know why they do this. • Java - A better to run code for a period of time

  I need to run some code for a predefined length of time, when the time is up it needs to stop. Currently I am using a TimerTask to allow the code to execute for a set amount of time but this is causing endless threads to be created by the code and is just simply not efficient. Is there a better alternative?
