  • Android - Start service on boot

    - by Gady
From everything I've seen on Stack Exchange and elsewhere, I have everything set up correctly to start an IntentService when Android OS boots. Unfortunately it is not starting on boot, and I'm not getting any errors. Maybe the experts can help... Manifest: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.phx.batterylogger" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0" android:installLocation="internalOnly"> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="8" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BATTERY_STATS" /> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> <service android:name=".BatteryLogger"/> <receiver android:name=".StartupIntentReceiver"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED" /> </intent-filter> </receiver> </application> </manifest> BroadcastReceiver for Startup: package com.phx.batterylogger; import android.content.BroadcastReceiver; import android.content.Context; import android.content.Intent; public class StartupIntentReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver { @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { Intent serviceIntent = new Intent(context, BatteryLogger.class); context.startService(serviceIntent); } } UPDATE: I tried just about all of the suggestions below, and I added logging such as Log.v("BatteryLogger", "Got to onReceive, about to start service"); to the onReceive handler of the StartupIntentReceiver, and nothing is ever logged. So it isn't even making it to the BroadcastReceiver. I think I'm deploying the APK and testing correctly, just running Debug in Eclipse and the console says it successfully installs it to my Xoom tablet at \BatteryLogger\bin\BatteryLogger.apk. Then to test, I reboot the tablet and then look at the logs in DDMS and check the Running Services in the OS settings. Does this all sound correct, or am I missing something? Again, any help is much appreciated.

  • SSIS pckage run from file system

    - by Pramodtech
Initially I deployed packages on SQL server but since my machine is not having SSIS installed I faced issue of version while executing the packages. Then I deployed packages to file system on server which has SQL server enterprise edition with SSIS installed on it. I access the folder on server where I have deployed packages from my system and execute the package but I get error saying "cannot run on this edition of integration services, need higher version." Do I need to rmote login (RDP) to execute package?

  • Use Java Annotation not to run a method

    - by Michael Mao
Hi all: I've got a method in my class only for testing purpose : private void printOut(String msg, Object value) { System.out.println(msg + value); } It is a wrapper method for System.out.println(); So I hope, with the use of Annotation, I can choose not to run this method during productive environment while still keep those diagnostic output ready if I am to switch back to debugging environment. Which Annotation shall I put on top of the method name?

  • compiling a program to run in DOS mode

    - by dygi
I write a simple program, to run in DOS mode. Everything works under emulated console in Win XP / Vista / Seven, but not in DOS. The error says: this program caonnot be run in DOS mode. I wonder is that a problem with compiler flags or something bigger. For programming i use Code::Blocks v 8.02 with such settings for compilation: -Wall -W -pedantic -pedantic-errors in Project \ Build options \ Compiler settings I've tried a clean DOS mode, booting from cd, and also setting up DOS in Virtual Machine. The same error appears. Should i turn on some more compiler flags ? Some specific 386 / 486 optimizations ? UPDATE Ok, i've downloaded, installed and configured DJGPP. Even resolved some problems with libs and includes. Still have two questions. 1) i can't compile a code, which calls _strdate and _strtime, i've double checked the includes, as MSDN says it needs time.h, but still error says: _strdate was not declared in this scope, i even tried to add std::_strdate, but then i have 4, not 2 errors sazing the same 2) the 2nd code is about gotoxy, it looks like that: #include <windows.h> void gotoxy(int x, int y) { COORD position; position.X = x; position.Y = y; SetConsoleCursorPosition(GetStdHandle(STD_OUTPUT_HANDLE), position); } error says there is no windows.h, so i've put it in place, but then there are many more errors saying some is missing from windows.h, I SUPPOSE it won't work because this functions is strictly for windows right ? is there any way to write similar gotoxy for DOS ? UPDATE2 1) solved using time(); instead of _strdate(); and _strtime(); here's the code time_t rawtime; struct tm * timeinfo; char buffer [20]; time ( &rawtime ); timeinfo = localtime ( &rawtime ); strftime (buffer,80,"%Y.%m.%d %H:%M:%S\0",timeinfo); string myTime(buffer); It now compiles under DJGPP. UPDATE3 Still need to solve a code using gotoxy - replaced it with some other code that compiles (under DJGPP). Thank You all for help. Just learnt some new things about compiling (flags, old IDE's like DJGPP, OpenWatcom) and refreshed memories setting DOS to work :--)

  • Shell - Run additional command on failure

    - by Shawn
I have this script that I am currently running that works great for all instances but one: #!/bin/sh pdfopt test.pdf test.opt.pdf &>/dev/null pdf2swf test.opt.pdf test.swf [ "$?" -ne 0 ] && exit 2 More lines to execute follow the above code ... How would I go about changing this script to run "pdf2swf test.pdf test.swf" if "pdf2swf test.opt.pdf test.swf" fails? If the second attempt fails, then I would "exit 2". Thanks

  • Where to start learning open-gl es

    - by Captain Kidd
Hi everybody, I decide to learn OPEN-GL ES for IPHONE development, but I know nothing about graphics programing. So I've some questions. 1 I know OPEN-GL ES is a series of open standard API. IPHONE still use these standard API or apple define it's own API for OPENGL ES? 2 Before I start to learn OPEN-GL ES, I think I should be familiar with OPEN-GL. Am I right?

  • How to run unit tests in STAThread mode?

    - by Peter
I would like to test an app that uses the Clipboard (WindowsForms) and I need the Clipboard in my Unittests also. In order to use it, it should run in STA mode, but since the NUnit Testfixture does not have a main method, I don't know where/how to annotate it... Thanks!

  • Boost::Spirit::Qi autorules -- avoiding repeated copying of AST data structures

    - by phooji
I've been using Qi and Karma to do some processing on several small languages. Most of the grammars are pretty small (20-40 rules). I've been able to use autorules almost exclusively, so my parse trees consist entirely of variants, structs, and std::vectors. This setup works great for the common case: 1) parse something (Qi), 2) make minor manipulations to the parse tree (visitor), and 3) output something (Karma). However, I'm concerned about what will happen if I want to make complex structural changes to a syntax tree, like moving big subtrees around. Consider the following toy example: A grammar for s-expr-style logical expressions that uses autorules... // Inside grammar class; rule names match struct names... pexpr %= pand | por | var | bconst; pand %= lit("(and ") >> (pexpr % lit(" ")) >> ")"; por %= lit("(or ") >> (pexpr % lit(" ")) >> ")"; pnot %= lit("(not ") >> pexpr >> ")"; ... which leads to parse tree representation that looks like this... struct var { std::string name; }; struct bconst { bool val; }; struct pand; struct por; struct pnot; typedef boost::variant<bconst, var, boost::recursive_wrapper<pand>, boost::recursive_wrapper<por>, boost::recursive_wrapper<pnot> > pexpr; struct pand { std::vector<pexpr> operands; }; struct por { std::vector<pexpr> operands; }; struct pnot { pexpr victim; }; // Many Fusion Macros here Suppose I have a parse tree that looks something like this: pand / ... \ por por / \ / \ var var var var (The ellipsis means 'many more children of similar shape for pand.') Now, suppose that I want negate each of the por nodes, so that the end result is: pand / ... \ pnot pnot | | por por / \ / \ var var var var The direct approach would be, for each por subtree: - create pnot node (copies por in construction); - re-assign the appropriate vector slot in the pand node (copies pnot node and its por subtree). Alternatively, I could construct a separate vector, and then replace (swap) the pand vector wholesale, eliminating a second round of copying. All of this seems cumbersome compared to a pointer-based tree representation, which would allow for the pnot nodes to be inserted without any copying of existing nodes. My question: Is there a way to avoid copy-heavy tree manipulations with autorule-compliant data structures? Should I bite the bullet and just use non-autorules to build a pointer-based AST (e.g., http://boost-spirit.com/home/2010/03/11/s-expressions-and-variants/)?

  • How long will an ASP.NET MVC application run

    - by Christoph
I wonder how long will an ASP.NET (MVC) application run, when no new requests come in? Lets say I'm using an IOC Container ans have a Singleton Object serving to the clients. As far as I know it will serve different page requests. But how long will it live when no new request come in? Is there any timeout (maybe configured through IIS) that says when my app will shut down?

  • Why won't this Jquery run on IE?

    Hello All, I have this Jquery code (function($){ $.expr[':'].linkingToImage = function(elem, index, match){ // This will return true if the specified attribute contains a valid link to an image: return !! ($(elem).attr(match[3]) && $(elem).attr(match[3]).match(/\.(gif|jpe?g|png|bmp)$/i)); }; $.fn.imgPreview = function(userDefinedSettings){ var s = $.extend({ /* DEFAULTS */ // CSS to be applied to image: imgCSS: {}, // Distance between cursor and preview: distanceFromCursor: {top:2, left:2}, // Boolean, whether or not to preload images: preloadImages: true, // Callback: run when link is hovered: container is shown: onShow: function(){}, // Callback: container is hidden: onHide: function(){}, // Callback: Run when image within container has loaded: onLoad: function(){}, // ID to give to container (for CSS styling): containerID: 'imgPreviewContainer', // Class to be given to container while image is loading: containerLoadingClass: 'loading', // Prefix (if using thumbnails), e.g. 'thumb_' thumbPrefix: '', // Where to retrieve the image from: srcAttr: 'rel' }, userDefinedSettings), $container = $('<div/>').attr('id', s.containerID) .append('<img/>').hide() .css('position','absolute') .appendTo('body'), $img = $('img', $container).css(s.imgCSS), // Get all valid elements (linking to images / ATTR with image link): $collection = this.filter(':linkingToImage(' + s.srcAttr + ')'); // Re-usable means to add prefix (from setting): function addPrefix(src) { return src.replace(/(\/?)([^\/]+)$/,'$1' + s.thumbPrefix + '$2'); } if (s.preloadImages) { (function(i){ var tempIMG = new Image(), callee = arguments.callee; tempIMG.src = addPrefix($($collection[i]).attr(s.srcAttr)); tempIMG.onload = function(){ $collection[i + 1] && callee(i + 1); }; })(0); } $collection .mousemove(function(e){ $container.css({ top: e.pageY + s.distanceFromCursor.top + 'px', left: e.pageX + s.distanceFromCursor.left + 'px' }); }) .hover(function(){ var link = this; $container .addClass(s.containerLoadingClass) .show(); $img .load(function(){ $container.removeClass(s.containerLoadingClass); $img.show(); s.onLoad.call($img[0], link); }) .attr( 'src' , addPrefix($(link).attr(s.srcAttr)) ); s.onShow.call($container[0], link); }, function(){ $container.hide(); $img.unbind('load').attr('src','').hide(); s.onHide.call($container[0], this); }); // Return full selection, not $collection! return this; }; })(jQuery); It works perfectly in all browsers apart from IE, which it does nothing, no errors, no clues? I have a funny feeling IE doesn't support attr? Can anyone offer any advice?

  • Jruby rspec to be run parallely

    - by Priyank
Hi. Is there something like Spork for Jruby too? We want to parallelize our specs to run faster and pre-load the classes while running the rake task; however we have not been able to do so. Since our project is considerable in size, specs take about 15 minutes to complete and this poses a serious challenge to quick turnaround. Any ideas are more than welcome. Cheers
