In my application i write the code like this

Hi there,
I'm creating a set of input fields and using javascript's .style.backgroundColor = "red" to change the colour of any invalid fields.
In Chrome, there is no problem. However, in Firefox, as soon as I touch the backgroundColor (even if I set it to white) then I get these strange shadow effects.
Does anyone know what's going on?

For example I have long list of buttons: <input type=button name=clickbutton onclick='dosomething(this)'>
But instead of putting call to the same funcion in every button it would be more rational to add a single listening event that would wait for click of that button with this name. But again, there are maany this buttons so I need pass clicked object to a function. For example this function must update a textarea field that is adjacent (nextSibling) to this button.
I am writing a GAE application and I would like to have an input box with google auto-suggest. Specifically, when a user types "Shawshank" I would like to see google's suggestions in my drop down.
Can someone tell me what are the different ways of doing this? I understand I may have to use some javascript libraries so any code samples etc will help immensely. (Pure javascript/jquery kinda solutions will be more preferable)
how do I make a boolean statement to only allow text? I have this code for only allowing the user to input numbers but ca'nt figure out how to do text.
bool Dest = double.TryParse(this.xTripDestinationTextBox.Text, out Miles);
bool MilesGal = double.TryParse(this.xTripMpgTextBox.Text, out Mpg);
bool PriceGal = double.TryParse(this.xTripPricepgTextBox.Text, out Price);
I have an input stream from a binary file. I want to create a bitset for the first 5 bits of the stream. Here is the code I have so far:
ifstream is;
is.open ("bin_file.out", ios::binary );
bitset<5> first_five_bits;
is >> first_five_bits; // always is set to default 00000
I'd like to have an input box that automatically adds a visible percent sign to the user when entering numbers (not just recognizes it as a percent when submitting). Thus, a user hits "2" and sees "2%"
I'm assuming one could use Jquery to do this fairly easily, but I have no idea how! Any ideas?
Thanks everyone.
I need to get all input elements within a div and then attach event handlers, so that whenever values change it updates a hidden field. Children elements within the div might already contain event handlers, if so the attach should chain it.
Any help is much appreciated.
There are many solutions suggested on Stack Overflow but i did not find it one that satisfy my requirements.
I was using Jquery Numeric plugin but i found that is not working (does not allow pasting) on FireFox 3.6 on Osx.
I'm searching a Jquery plugin or Javascript snippet that allow just Numeric Text on a Input Text field.
I have these requirements:
Should allow just numeric text
Should NOT allow punctuation (.,)
Should NOT allow dashed text (-)
Should allow pasting just for numeric text
Multibrowser
Multiplatform
How could can I get the caret position from within an input field.
I have seen a few bits and pieces on google but nothing bullet proof.
Basically something like a Jquery plugin would be ideal so I could simply do
$("#myinput").caretPosition()
I realise there may by other non-jQuery solutions and these would also be brilliant if anyone has any??
I have been trying to change the cursor style to look like a pointer rather than an I beam thing, but it looks like FF does not respect the cursor spec in an inputfile field. For example, I have made this small fiddle: http://jsfiddle.net/jDZtn/4/ where Id like the cursor to look like a pointer rather than an Ibeam when the user hovers over it. My end plan is to introduce opacity==0 and use a clickable button over it.
I am not sure if this behaviour is a bug or not.
Im trying to combine the name field, and msg field, and input all values into #msg, but cant quite get it to work
$('#DocumentCommentsForm_21').bind('submit', function(){
var name = "##" + $('#navn').val() + "##";
var msg = $('#msg').val();
$('#msg').val(name+' '+msg);
});
alert($('#msg').val(name+' '+msg));
Each input field in the CKEditor dialogs are renamed with a unique number, but the number changes depending on what options are visible.
I need to reference 'txtUrl' which has an id something like #35_textInput.
So far I have discovered that something like this should work:
alert(CKEDITOR.instances.myElement.document.$.body.getId('txtUrl'));
But it doesn't. Please help.

Hi there, I'm having trouble working this out. Basically my program has a standard input, I want to modify this so if the user enters a space it automatically replaces it with a / whilst they're typing. I have no idea how i'd even go about doing this or if it is even possible so I am grateful for any help either way.
