    Is there a way to tell how to get a file size that is uploaded to database? SELECT [ID] ,[File] FROM [dbo].[Reports] I would like to be able to tell user the size of File which is VarBinary(max) field in MS SQL 2005/2008. How to do that? Maybe the only way to do is to create another column and when inserting file i should also insert it's size in additional column?

  • What's the smallest DirectX installer I can distribute in my Software?

    My application uses DirectX 9.0c. There are many installers for the end-user run-times, ranging from 400Kb to 100Mb+ and obviously I don't want to bloat my installer file. However, I believe there are potentially legal restrictions which mean I can't just distribute whichever MS installers I might choose. This is the one I'd ideally like to include, is it the best /correct one?

    Hi, I recently contacted a web host regarding support for external database access to a Microsoft SQL Database included in a package they offer. They replied saying that it is only possible with an SSH-tunnel. Is it possible to connect to a MS SQL database in Visual Studio using an SSH-tunnel? It is important for me to be able to access the database from my local machine (for debugging, generating LINQ classes, editing tables, etc). Or, how should I go about working with their database?

    I am looking to create shortcut handler for MS Office. I am creating an addin with VS2010 for Office 2010. The handler needs to listen to all keyboard events when Word/PowerPoint is active. Although there is a lot of material for creating application level shortcut handlers, I couldn't find one that was specific to Office.     How can I view the change history of an individual file, complete with what has changed ? I have got as far as : git log -- filename which shows me the commit history of the file, but how do I get at the content of each of the changes ? Thanks - I'm trying to make the transition from MS SourceSafe and that used to be a simple right click / show history.

    Hi i am working on some high resolution display features in which have to draw the vertical line , i am using Moveto() and lineTO() , but it is much time taking... can anyone suggest me , what we can use instead of it ...to optimize the performance... see the scene is , in order to draw 100 Vertical lines it is taking 84ms time, we need to reduce it to 5 ms something.. please refer me any alternate fot that.   • How does Dropbox use Python on Windows and OS X?

    In Windows the Dropbox client uses python25.dll and the MS C runtime libraries (msvcp71.dll, etc). On OS X the Python code is compiled bytecode (pyc). My guess is they are using a common library they have written then just have to use different hooks for the different platforms. What method of development is this? It clearly isn't IronPython or PyObjC. This paradigm is so appealing to me, but my CS foo and Google foo are failing me.

Once Normal View is selected all works fine. Is there any way to force Word to open with Normal View instead of Web View?

    Here are the GDI functions Chord() provided by MFC: BOOL Chord( int x1, int y1, int x2, int y2, int x3, int y3, int x4, int y4 ); BOOL Chord( LPCRECT lpRect, POINT ptStart, POINT ptEnd ); It seems to me that no such method is privided by GDI+ (the Graphics class), so how do I implement my own Chord function (with the exact same prototype) ?
