  • forward/strong enum in VS2010

    - by Noah Roberts
At http://blogs.msdn.com/vcblog/archive/2010/04/06/c-0x-core-language-features-in-vc10-the-table.aspx there is a table showing C++0x features that are implemented in 2010 RC. Among them are listed forwarding enums and strongly typed enums but they are listed as "partial". The main text of the article says that this means they are either incomplete or implemented in some non-standard way. So I've got VS2010RC and am playing around with the C++0x features. I can't figure these ones out and can't find any documentation on these two features. Not even the simplest attempts compile. enum class E { test }; int main() {} fails with: 1e:\dev_workspace\experimental\2010_feature_assessment\2010_feature_assessment\main.cpp(518): error C2332: 'enum' : missing tag name 1e:\dev_workspace\experimental\2010_feature_assessment\2010_feature_assessment\main.cpp(518): error C2236: unexpected 'class' 'E'. Did you forget a ';'? 1e:\dev_workspace\experimental\2010_feature_assessment\2010_feature_assessment\main.cpp(518): error C3381: 'E' : assembly access specifiers are only available in code compiled with a /clr option 1e:\dev_workspace\experimental\2010_feature_assessment\2010_feature_assessment\main.cpp(518): error C2143: syntax error : missing ';' before '}' 1e:\dev_workspace\experimental\2010_feature_assessment\2010_feature_assessment\main.cpp(518): error C4430: missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int ========== Build: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ========== int main() { enum E : short; } Fails with: 1e:\dev_workspace\experimental\2010_feature_assessment\2010_feature_assessment\main.cpp(513): warning C4480: nonstandard extension used: specifying underlying type for enum 'main::E' 1e:\dev_workspace\experimental\2010_feature_assessment\2010_feature_assessment\main.cpp(513): error C2059: syntax error : ';' ========== Build: 0 succeeded, 1 failed, 0 up-to-date, 0 skipped ========== So it seems it must be some totally non-standard implementation that has allowed them to justify calling this feature "partially" done. How would I rewrite that code to access the forwarding and strong type feature?

  • Using stdint.h and ANSI printf?

    - by nn
Hi, I'm writing a bignum library, and I want to use efficient data types to represent the digits. Particularly integer for the digit, and long (if strictly double the size of the integer) for intermediate representations when adding and multiplying. I will be using some C99 functionality, but trying to conform to ANSI C. Currently I have the following in my bignum library: #include <stdint.h> #if defined(__LP64__) || defined(__amd64) || defined(__x86_64) || defined(__amd64__) || defined(__amd64__) || defined(_LP64) typedef uint64_t u_w; typedef uint32_t u_hw; #define BIGNUM_DIGITS 2048 #define U_HW_BITS 16 #define U_W_BITS 32 #define U_HW_MAX UINT32_MAX #define U_HW_MIN UINT32_MIN #define U_W_MAX UINT64_MAX #define U_W_MIN UINT64_MIN #else typedef uint32_t u_w; typedef uint16_t u_hw; #define BIGNUM_DIGITS 4096 #define U_HW_BITS 16 #define U_W_BITS 32 #define U_HW_MAX UINT16_MAX #define U_HW_MIN UINT16_MIN #define U_W_MAX UINT32_MAX #define U_W_MIN UINT32_MIN #endif typedef struct bn { int sign; int n_digits; // #digits should exclude carry (digits = limbs) int carry; u_hw tab[BIGNUM_DIGITS]; } bn; As I haven't written a procedure to write the bignum in decimal, I have to analyze the intermediate array and printf the values of each digit. However I don't know which conversion specifier to use with printf. Preferably I would like to write to the terminal the digit encoded in hexadecimal. The underlying issue is, that I want two data types, one that is twice as long as the other, and further use them with printf using standard conversion specifiers. It would be ideal if int is 32bits and long is 64bits but I don't know how to guarantee this using a preprocessor, and when it comes time to use functions such as printf that solely rely on the standard types I no longer know what to use.

  • Returning an array of culture formatted dates C# MVC3

    - by user1875797
    I'm new to programming and trying to do an exercise that formats a date to the Thai culture in a variety of formats this is what I have for my code so far: public String[] FormatAsSpecified(DateTime theDate, String theCulture, String[] formats) { String[] dateResults = new String[formats.Length]; CultureInfo culture = CultureInfo.GetCultureInfo(theCulture); for (int i = 0; i < formats.Length; i++) { String culture_formatted_date = theDate.ToString(formats[i], culture); dateResults[i] = culture_formatted_date; } return dateResults; } This is the test method that goes with it: [TestMethod] public void FormatAsSpecifiedReturnsDateLiteralsInSpecifiedFormatForAllStandardFormatStrings() { //Arrange var controller = new DateController(); var theDate = new DateTime(2014, 2, 14, 9, 15, 32, 376); String theCulture = "th-TH"; // Array of all supported standard date and time format specifiers. String[] formats = { "d", "D", "f", "F", "g", "G", "m", "o", "r", "s", "t", "T", "u", "U", "Y" }; //Corresponding date literals for the standard Thai regional settings String[] expectedResults = {"14/2/2557" , "14 ?????????? 2557" , "14 ?????????? 2557 9:15" , "14 ?????????? 2557 9:15:32" , "14/2/2557 9:15" , "14/2/2557 9:15:32" , "14 ??????????" , "2014-02-14T09:15:32.3760000" , "Fri, 14 Feb 2014 09:15:32 GMT" , "2014-02-14T09:15:32" , "9:15" , "9:15:32" , "2014-02-14 09:15:32Z" , "??????????? 14 ?????????? 2014 9:15:32" , "?????????? 2557"}; //Act String[] actualResults = new String[15]; for (int i = 0; i < formats.Length; i++) { actualResults[i] = controller.FormatAsSpecified(theDate, theCulture, formats[i]); } //Assert CollectionAssert.AreEqual(expectedResults, actualResults); } I get an error in the test method at 'controller.FormatAsSpecified(theDate, theCulture, formats[i]);' that says "Argument 3, cannot convert from 'string' to 'string[]'" What am I doing wrong?

  • object / class methods serialized as well?

    - by Mat90
I know that data members are saved to disk but I was wondering whether object's/class' methods are saved in binary format as well? Because I found some contradictionary info, for example: Ivor Horton: "Class objects contain function members as well as data members, and all the members, both data and functions, have access specifiers; therefore, to record objects in an external file, the information written to the file must contain complete specifications of all the class structures involved." and: Are methods also serialized along with the data members in .NET? Thus: are method's assembly instructions (opcodes and operands) stored to disk as well? Just like a precompiled LIB or DLL? During the DOS ages I used assembly so now and then. As far as I remember from Delphi and the following site (answer by dan04): Are methods also serialized along with the data members in .NET? sizeof(<OBJECT or CLASS>) will give the size of all data members together (no methods/procedures). Also a nice C example is given there with data and members declared in one class/struct but at runtime these methods are separate procedures acting on a struct of data. However, I think that later class/object implementations like Pascal's VMT may be different in memory.

  • VB.NET class inherits a base class and implements an interface issue (works in C#)

    - by 300 baud
I am trying to create a class in VB.NET which inherits a base abstract class and also implements an interface. The interface declares a string property called Description. The base class contains a string property called Description. The main class inherits the base class and implements the interface. The existence of the Description property in the base class fulfills the interface requirements. This works fine in C# but causes issues in VB.NET. First, here is an example of the C# code which works: public interface IFoo { string Description { get; set; } } public abstract class FooBase { public string Description { get; set; } } public class MyFoo : FooBase, IFoo { } Now here is the VB.NET version which gives a compiler error: Public Interface IFoo Property Description() As String End Interface Public MustInherit Class FooBase Private _Description As String Public Property Description() As String Get Return _Description End Get Set(ByVal value As String) _Description = value End Set End Property End Class Public Class MyFoo Inherits FooBase Implements IFoo End Class If I make the base class (FooBase) implement the interface and add the Implements IFoo.Description to the property all is good, but I do not want the base class to implement the interface. The compiler error is: Class 'MyFoo' must implement 'Property Description() As String' for interface 'IFoo'. Implementing property must have matching 'ReadOnly' or 'WriteOnly' specifiers. Can VB.NET not handle this, or do I need to change my syntax somewhere to get this to work?

  • What are the linkage of the following functions?

    - by Derui Si
When I was reading the c++ 03 standard (7.1.1 Storage class specifiers [dcl.stc]), there are some examples as below, I'm not able to tell how the linkage of each successive declarations is determined? Could anyone help here? Thanks in advance! static char* f(); // f() has internal linkage char* f() { /* ... */ } // f() still has internal linkage char* g(); // g() has external linkage static char* g() { /* ... */ } // error: inconsistent linkage void h(); inline void h(); // external linkage inline void l(); void l(); // external linkage inline void m(); extern void m(); // external linkage static void n(); inline void n(); // internal linkage static int a; // a has internal linkage int a; // error: two definitions static int b; // b has internal linkage extern int b; // b still has internal linkage int c; // c has external linkage static int c; // error: inconsistent linkage extern int d; // d has external linkage static int d; // error: inconsistent linkage UPD: Additionally, how can I understand the statement in the standard, " The linkages implied by successive declarations for a given entity shall agree. That is, within a given scope, each declaration declaring the same object name or the same overloading of a function name shall imply the same linkage. Each function in a given set of overloaded functions can have a different linkage, however."

  • LiteSpeed enable Access-Control-Allow-Origin (no response header on CORS request)

    - by Joe Coder Guy
Seriously, I can't find a single page discussing this for litespeed. Using this format in the htaccess "Header set Access-Control-Allow-Origin http://aSite.com" (and https) sends the setting in the http response header, but I still get the "XMLHttpRequest cannot load https://aSite.com/aFile.php. Origin aSite.com is not allowed by Access-Control-Allow-Origin" error when trying to access https from http origin. Also, I receive no response header for https, only that message shows up in Chrome. Is the server still blocking it even though I've sent the proper headers? I read elsewhere that it helps to add these terms Access-Control-Allow-Headers X-Requested-With Access-Control-Allow-Methods OPTIONS, GET, POST Access-Control-Allow-Headers Content-Type, Depth, User-Agent, X-File-Size, X-Requested-With, If-Modified-Since, X-File-Name, Cache-Control but I don't see these in my headers. Using these, my PHP files aren't even reached (because they register no errors or anything), so it looks like it comes from the server only, but what do I know. Thanks in advance! Update Since no response header, Prashant seems to suggest it's a server issue in his error since it worked on another server. http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11953132/no-response-obtained-while-implementing-cors Anyone know how to flip this switch? Headers work now Bad litespeed format. Should look like this. Still being denied though. Header set Access-Control-Allow-Headers X-Requested-With Header set Access-Control-Allow-Methods OPTIONS Header set Access-Control-Allow-Methods GET Header set Access-Control-Allow-Methods POST Header set Access-Control-Allow-Headers Content-Type Header set Access-Control-Allow-Headers Depth Header set Access-Control-Allow-Headers User-Agent Header set Access-Control-Allow-Headers X-File-Size Header set Access-Control-Allow-Headers X-Requested-With Header set Access-Control-Allow-Headers If-Modified-Since Header set Access-Control-Allow-Headers X-File-Name Header set Access-Control-Allow-Headers Cache-Control

  • zfs setup question

    - by Staale
Currently I have a linux storage box and server with 4x750gb harddrives in raid-5 with ext3. I have ordered 3x1.5tb disks to upgrade this. Here is my planned upgrade: Backup: Format the 1.5 tb disks Copy all data from the raid-5 disks to the 1.5tb disks Destroy the raid-5 array. New setup: Create a VirtualBox system and install Nexenta (OpenSolaris + ubuntu) on it. Create a zfs pool with zraid1 with the 4 750gb disks. Copy from 1.5tb disks to the virtualbox zfs pool Format the 1.5tb disks. Replace 3 off the 750gb disks with 1.5tb disks. Reuse the 750gb disks elsewhere. The reason I wish to use one 750gb disk is since I can't grow the disk count in a raidz array, and this gives me the option off replacing that disk later for an extra 750gb storage. Would the ZFS performance be good running through virtualbox? Or will the performance overhead be too large? Will I get 1.5tb+1.5tb+750gb storage on the zraid? Or just 750gbx3 until all disks are 1.5tb?

  • Why do (Russian) characters in some received emails change when reading in David InfoCenter?

    - by waszkiewicz
I'm using David InfoCenter as email Software, and I have troubles with some of my emails in Russian. It's only a few letters, in some emails (sent from different people), like for example the "R" ("P" in russian) will be shown as a "T". In other emails in Russian, the problem doesn't appear. Isn't it strange? Does anyone had the same problem already and found where it came from? When I transmit that email to an external mailbox (internet email account), it's even worse, and gives me symbols instead of all Russian letters... The default encoding was "Russian (ISO)", I changed it to "Russian (Windows)", but same problem. Another weird reaction is when I write an intern email and name it TEST in Russian (????), with ???? in the text window, it changes the title to "Oano"? But the content stays in Russian... With Mailinator I got the following, for message and subject "????": Subject: ???? • What's up with stat on MacOSX/Darwin? Or filesystems without names...

    - by Charles Stewart
In response to a question I asked on SO, Give the mount point of a path, one respondant suggested using stat to get the device name associated with the volume of a given path. This works nicely on Linux, but gives crazy results on MacOSX 10.4. For my system, df and mount give: cas cas$ df Filesystem 512-blocks Used Avail Capacity Mounted on /dev/disk0s3 58342896 49924456 7906440 86% / devfs 194 194 0 100% /dev fdesc 2 2 0 100% /dev <volfs> 1024 1024 0 100% /.vol automount -nsl [166] 0 0 0 100% /Network automount -fstab [170] 0 0 0 100% /automount/Servers automount -static [170] 0 0 0 100% /automount/static /dev/disk2s1 163577856 23225520 140352336 14% /Volumes/Snapshot /dev/disk2s2 409404102 5745938 383187960 1% /Volumes/Sparse cas cas$ mount /dev/disk0s3 on / (local, journaled) devfs on /dev (local) fdesc on /dev (union) <volfs> on /.vol automount -nsl [166] on /Network (automounted) automount -fstab [170] on /automount/Servers (automounted) automount -static [170] on /automount/static (automounted) /dev/disk2s1 on /Volumes/Snapshot (local, nodev, nosuid, journaled) /dev/disk2s2 on /Volumes/Sparse (asynchronous, local, nodev, nosuid) Trying to get the devices from the mount points, though: cas cas$ df | grep -e/ | awk '{print $NF}' | while read line; do echo $line $(stat -f"%Sdr" $line); done / disk0s3r /dev ???r /dev ???r /.vol ???r /Network ???r /automount/Servers ???r /automount/static ???r /Volumes/Snapshot disk2s1r /Volumes/Sparse disk2s2r Here, I'm feeding each of the mount points scraped from df to stat, outputting the results of the "%Sdr" format string, which is supposed to be the device name: Cf. stat(1) man page: The special output specifier S may be used to indicate that the output, if applicable, should be in string format. Postscript Per Andrew McGregor, try passing "%Sd" to stat for more weirdness. It lists some apparently arbitrary subset of files from CWD...

  • Solaris: detect hotswap SATA disk insert

    - by growse
What's the method used on Solaris to get the system to rescan for new disks that have been hot-plugged on a SATA controller? I've got an HP X1600 NAS which had 9 drives configred in a ZFS pool. I've added 3 disks, but the format command still only shows the original 9. When I plugged them in, I saw this: cpqary3: [ID 823470 kern.notice] NOTICE: Smart Array P212 Controller cpqary3: [ID 823470 kern.notice] Hot-plug drive inserted, Port=1I Box=1 Bay=12 cpqary3: [ID 479030 kern.notice] Configured Drive ? ....... NO cpqary3: [ID 100000 kern.notice] cpqary3: [ID 823470 kern.notice] NOTICE: Smart Array P212 Controller cpqary3: [ID 823470 kern.notice] Hot-plug drive inserted, Port=1I Box=1 Bay=11 cpqary3: [ID 479030 kern.notice] Configured Drive ? ....... NO But can't figure out how to get the format command to see them so I know they've been detected by the system.

  • ghettoVCB issue

    - by romgo75
I have setup a ghettoVCB script in order to backup three VM. I put it in a crontab but I have an issue. In my backup folder I have 3 different folders, one for each VM. In each folder I have the following files: -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1263 Mar 17 01:51 vm1-2010-03-16--2.gz -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1263 Mar 17 00:41 vm1-2010-03-16--3.gz -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1261 Mar 18 01:22 vm1-2010-03-17--1.gz drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 980 Mar 19 23:39 vm1-2010-03-19 The problem is the last folder. It seems that a backup didn't finish the process. • Convert DVD Movie to MPEG and view on PS3 via Windows Media Server 12

    - by Vidar
I think Apollo spacecraft missions to the moon were easier than this! I have tried dozens of DVD ripping software and media servers and have had limited success in trying to convert all my DVDs into file format so they can be viewed on PS3. I have also been on dozens of forums and it's all getting a bit confusing, some advice is out of date, some software is no longer updated - updates have been applied to PS3 operating system and windows and so on and so on. There has to be a way to get all this knowledge and information in one place that's up to date so people can do the same thing as me. Can anyone give me some definitive software and/or advice to do the following: I have over 200 DVDs - I want to convert these to VOB files (rename to MPEG so WMS can stream them). Store on hard disk and view via Windows Media Server 12 (Windows 7). I will then be able to view these via my PS3 in my lounge and never have to get out another DVD case again. I don't want to encode to any other format like MP4 with H.264 because I will lose some of the original quality. So MPEG-2 is fine for me. Note: I have been using DVD Shrink but it gives odd results sometimes. The main problem being that once the DVD has been ripped - WMS shows the wrong playing length of the film, however if I use VLC Media Player it will play through the whole film OK. This is obviously no good when it comes to streaming on the PS3.

  • Emails from web site sometimes blank or gibberish

    - by John Gardeniers
Our company has one web site with an online store based on osCommerce. The system sends emails for various reasons, such as password changes, order confirmations, etc., using PHP's mail() function. We occasionally have customers report that the email they received is either blank (email is plain text format) or gibberish (email is in HTML format). In the latter case it's really just HTML that's being displayed as raw text but of course the customers can't read it. In this case the first opening tag's <, and sometimes a few more characters, has gone missing. In an attempt to determine whether this was happening only for certain customers or email systems I configured the web site to send a CC of each message to a service account at my end. Those CC'd messages always arrive intact and display correctly in Outlook. For what it's worth, it seems to happen a little more frequently to Hotmail users but is certainly not limited to them. As the web site is on a shared (Debian) host there's precious little I can do about debugging things from that end, although if I made the right request I feel the hosting company staff would help me, even though they have limited resources to spend on such matters. Any suggestions on what else I might do to try and determine just why those emails are not being received correctly by some customers, yet a CC copy arrives just fine?
