  I've added my gmail account to Mail.app It worked find in previous days, and downloaded thousands of previous mails. But now, it can't connect to gmail server for days. What's the matter here? Here is my config in account setting: Account Type: Gmail IMAP Email Address: [email protected] Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com User Name: [email protected] Password: xxxxxx And also, is there any means that I can view the transaction log of Mail.app? Maybe there I can find more information.

• Set up ad hoc wireless connection between Windows Vista and Mac OS X

  I have the following problem - Windows Vista does not connect to adhoc wireless network created on my Macbook. I have tried to create secured (with 40 bit key) and unsecured network but Windows Vista still has problems to connect. Windows VISTA informs me -- after 5 minutes of attempts - that setting up the connection -- with my adhoc network -- took too much time. My question: do I need to configure some settings on Vista to connect it to my Macbook? Maybe it is a problem with DHCP?   I'm working in Eclipse one night, (also using Android's DDMS from the commandline). The next morning, I open the lid... attempt to run Eclipse and get an error. me$ sudo /Applications/eclipse/eclipse JavaVM: requested Java version ((null)) not available. Using Java at "" instead. • Excel 2011 for Mac VLOOKUP Date Issue

  I'm fairly proficient in using vlookups, but I'm having an issue vlooking up dates between two different spreadsheets. =VLOOKUP(B6,'[example.xlsx]Sheet1'!$B$1:$AA$260, 19, FALSE) My formula is retrieving a date fine, but the date is different when the cell is formatted for a date. Yet, when I change the formatting on each spreadsheet to display the date as a number, the number is the same (40115). The dates are displaying differently in each spreadsheet and I can't figure out why, they differ by about 3 years and 1 day (10/30/13 vs. 10/29/09). One was previously .xls, but I saved both a .xlsx. Thanks.

• Alternative to Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection for Mac?

  When working from Windows, I prefer to use RoyalTS instead of the default Microsoft RDP client, because it allows me to save multiple connections, the credentials of the connection, etc; as well has having more than 1 connection open at a time. Is there a similar (or any) alternative to the Microsoft RDP client for connecting from OSX to Windows? Aside from VNC, that is; at this point I'm hoping to continue using the RDP protocol.

I've discovered this is due to the Finder trying to render an icon preview of every music file and PDF it encounters. Over the network, this can take a long time. I know I can turn off icon previews on a per-folder basis using the "View Options" dialog. Is it possible to change these settings globally?

• Web page change monitoring for Mac OS X

• Unset the system immutable bit in Mac OS X

  In theory I believe you can unlock and remove the system immutable bit with: chflags noschg /Path/To/File But how can you do this when you've set the bit as root? I have a file that is locked, and even running this command as root will not work as the operation is not permitted. I tried logging in as Single-User mode to no avail. I seem to remember that even though you are in as root you are in at level '1'. And to be able to remove the system-immutable flag you need to be logged in at level '0'. Does this have something to do with this issue?

The problem is that I can only access to localhost:57173, when I tried accessing http://project.play:9999, Chrome returns "Oops! Google Chrome could not find project.play:9999".   Is there anyway to have emails automatically placed into folders where the original email resides? Situation: I sort my emails into various folders based on clients. However, when a new email comes in that was a reply to a previous it goes to my inbox versus going into the client folder. I know the typical answer is "just create a rule for that client". The problem with that is my clients change often, and creating a new rule that often is infeasible. I was hoping there might be some way to have a "follow source email" option. That way, when I move email A into folder X, all subsequent replies to email A will automatically be placed in folder X. Any ideas?

  I want to set up an Astaro (Sophos) UTM in a Virtual Machine. The Setup should be at the end the following: Cable Modem (one IP adress) | [Ethernet] Sophos UTM (running as VM [VMWare Fusion 5] on the MacMini) | [WIFI] Airport Express v2 (for sharing Local Network to wireless and wired clients) 1)| [WIFI] 2)| [Ethernet over Thunderbolt Ethernet Adapter]* Clients MacMini (Local File Server) *To have the Mini also protected behind the UTM So the setup process for the UTM works fine, but then the problems start: I just have one external IP (from my cable modem provider)== So if I put the VM in briged mode my Internet connection drops, because the MacMini also has its IP adress. If I put the VM to NAT mode the Mini itself is not protected by the UTM So: is there a way to hide the en0 interface(Ethernet) and the en1 interface (Wifi) from the MacMini, so that they not even appear in System Preferences Network section but are available to the VM? That way the Mini must connect to the en2 interface (Thunderbolt adapter) to make any Internet/LAN connection and I just use the given single IP from the Cable Modem. Thaks for any suggestions... • Mac OS X Snow Leopard hangs after login

  After restoring from backup following filesystem corruption my user account hangs after login (After entering my password the login window disappears and all I get is the background and a mouse pointer, no spinning wheel of death etc ..) I can login as a different user and then logout and login as my main account (sometimes!) but this is not consistant. I can login with safemode ok and have tried deleting /System/Caches, ~/Library/Caches and removing all my ~/Library/Preferences which worked once but not again. Does anyone have an any idea which logs I can look in, if any, to see whats happening after login or any other tips? I'm using 10.6.2. Cheers.

• Port Redirection on Mac OS X Lion

  I have tried to solve this issue using pf but with no luck. Basically, I am trying to redirect incoming port 443 traffic to port 22. I have tried to set up a rule in a file and load it in pf but I get syntax error. Can anyone with more experience with pf provide some insight? Here's what I've attempted: pass in on en1 proto tcp from any to any port 443 rdr-to 127.0.0.1 port 22 and pass in quick proto tcp to port 443 rdr-to 127.0.0.1 port 22 I've been able to do this in MacOSX Snow Leopard with ipfw: sudo ipfw add 1443 forward 127.0.0.1,22 ip from any to any 443 in but it doesn't work in Lion (it gives me an Invalid Argument error).
