• Unable to update/ install any files [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: “Problem with MergeList” error when trying to do an update Just now I installed ubuntu 12.04 on my Lenovo G570 laptop. First I got an error at the time of installation (don't know about it) and I restarted the system and next time, it went well. So, after installing problems started.. There was a error with "Language recognition" and I tried to fix it but didn't work. E: Encountered a section with no Package: header E: Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/extras.ubuntu.com_ubuntu_dists_precise_main_binary-i386_Packages "Copy & Paste" from terminal is not really working... When I press Ctrl + C; its showing ^C on terminal but its not working.. The most important error: I am unable to see a "chip" icon on the status bar so as to install proprietary drivers for my ATI drivers... The interesting part is, powertop worked will on live cd and it even detected my ATI card. Update When I opened "Software Up to Date", this showed a error: Could not initialize the package information An unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information. • BAM Data Control in multiple ADF Faces Components

  As we know Oracle BAM data control instance sharing is not supported.When two or more ADF Faces components must display the same data, and are bound to the same Oracle BAM data control definition, we have to make sure that we wrap each ADF Faces component in an ADF task flow, and set the Data Control Scope to isolated. This blog will show a small sample to demonstrate this. In this sample we will create a Pie and Bar using same BAM DC, such that both components use same Data control but have isolated scope.This sample can be downloaded  fromSample1.zip Set-up: Create a BAM data control using employees DO (sample) Steps: Right click on View Controller project and select "New->ADF Task Flow" Check "Create Bounded Task Flow" and give some meaningful name (ex:EmpPieTF.xml ) to the TaskFlow(TF) and click on "OK"CreateTF.bmpFrom the "Components Palette", drag and drop "View" into the task flow diagram. Give a meaningful name to the view. Double Click and Click "Ok" for  "Create New JSF Page Fragment" From "Data Controls" drag and drop "Employees->Query"  into this jsff page as "Graph->Pie" (Pie: Sales_Number and Slices: Salesperson) Repeat step 1 through 4 for another Task Flow (ex: EmpBarTF). From "Data Controls" drag and drop "Employees->Query"  into this jsff page as "Graph->Bar" (Bars :Sales_Number and X-axis : Salesperson). Open the Taskflow created in step 2. In the Structure Pane, right click on "Task Flow Definition -EmpPieTF" Click "Insert inside Task Flow Definition - EmpPieTF -> ADF Task Flow -> Data Control Scope". Click "OK"TFDCScope.bmpFor the "Data Control Scope", In the Property Inspector ->General section, change data control scope from Shared to Isolated. Repeat step 8 through 11 for the 2nd Task flow created. Now create a new jspx page example: Main.jspxDrag and drop both the Task flows (ex: "EmpPieTF" and "EmpBarTF") as regions. Surround with panel components as needed.Run the page Main.jspxMainPage.bmpNow when the page runs although both components are created using same Data control the bindings are not shared and each component will have a separate instance of the data control.

• Intermittent silent failures when receiving email

  I’ve had a company host my website and email for the last six months or so and I’m having intermittent and silent failures where emails sent to me are not received. The sender never receives a “delivery notification failure” message. This has happened on multiple domains (@gmail.com, @microsoft.com) I’ve experienced it happening first hand when I sent a mail to myself from another account but I was unable to reproduce the error. It’s very rare (one in every 300 emails or so) The mails are not routed to my junk folder :) Obviously I’m worried about the effect this has on my business – but what can I do? I don’t believe I have enough information to diagnose the problem (neither does my hosting company when I presented them with the same information) – should I switch to another host?

  Hy, I just installed the ubuntu 11.04. After I restarted the PC I got a little notification that some drivers are missing, I click to activate the driver. So after the activation I can't use the unity. When in the preference page I click to the Ati catalyst control center I get the following error: There was a problem initializing Catalyst Control Center Linux edition. It could be caused by the following. No ATI graphics driver is installed, or the ATI driver is not functioning properly. Please install the ATI driver appropriate for you ATI hardware, or configure using aticonfig. My video card is ATI so I don't know what is the problem!?!

  I'm developing web site on self made MVC engine. I have actionController that handles operations like register, login, post submit and etc. actionController receives operation name and parameters. Of course it mast handle errors such user with same nick already exists or password is to short about which action handler have to notify user. The question is which is the best way to organize errors, such that View could easily get localized user notification message. I see two ways First one: define error constants like ERR_NICK_BUSY = '1' ERR_NICK_INVALID = '2' ... and localization map local[ERR_NICK_BUSY] = 'User with the same nick already registered' local[ERR_NICK_INVALID ] = 'Nick, you entered is invalid' ... And second one: define abstract constants like ERR_FIELD_BUSY = '1' ERR_FIELD_INVALID = '2' ... and pass them with field name. In this case localization looks like local['nick_'+ERR_FIELD_BUSY] = 'User with the same nick already registered' ... I don't like both this methods. Can you advise something else?

  I'd like to remove a keyboard icon, so replacing "[###] USA" as keyboard layout indicator to just "En", an English or American flag, or "USA" at least. How can I achieve this? UPDATE: When I've clicked to remove e-mail icon from the bar, keyboard language indication has disappeared also, and now I only see that useless keyboard icon, and don't see what language is selected now :-( I use Ubuntu 10.10.

  One of Ops Center's most useful features is its asset monitoring capability. When you discover an asset - an operating system, say, or a server - a default monitoring policy is applied to it, based on the asset type. This policy contains rules that specify what properties are monitored and what thresholds are considered significant. Ops Center will send a notification if a monitored asset passes one of the specified thresholds. But sometimes you want different assets to be monitored in different ways. For example, you might have a group of mission-critical systems, for which you want to be notified immediately if their file system usage rises above a specific threshold. You can do so by creating a new monitoring policy and applying it to the group. You can also apply monitoring policies to individual assets, and edit them to meet the requirements of your environment.   Getting and Setting the URL, and different parts of the URL are a basic part of Application Design. For Page Navigation Deep Linking Providing a link to the user Querying Data Passing information to other pages Both angularjs and javascript provide ways to get/set the URL and parts of the URL. I'm looking for the following information: Situation: Show a simple URL in the browser address bar to the user Provide a more detailed URL with string parameters to the page that the user will not see. In other words, two different URLs will be used, one simple one that the user sees in the browser, a more detailed one available to the page on load. Get URL info with PHP when then page intially loads, both don't reload the PHP page when the user needs more detailed info that is already loaded but not displayed yet. Set the URL with a more detailed URL for deep linking as the user drills down to more specific information. Get URL info in a controller or JavaSript when angularjs detects a change in the URL with routing. Hash or Query String or Both? Should I use a hash # in the URL, a string ?= or both? Here is what I currently know and what I want: A Query String HTTP:\\www.name.com?mykey=itemID will prevent angularjs from reloading the page. So, I can change the URL by adding/changing the string at the end, thereby providing new info to the page, and keep the page from reloading. I can change the URL and force a page reload with: window.location.href = "#Store/" + argUserPubId + "?itemID=home"; If home is the itemID string, I want code to simply load the page, and not display more detailed information. If there is a real itemID in the URL query string, I want the code to display the more detailed information. Code from angularjs will run either from the controller specified in the routing, or a controller specified in the HTML, or both. The angularjs code specified in the routing seems to run first, before the code specified in the HTML. A different URL for the page can be used in angularjs templateURL: than the URL that was sent to the browser address bar. when('/Store/:StoreId', { templateUrl: function(params){return 'Client_Pages/Stores.php?storeID=' + params.StoreId;}, controller: 'storeParseData' }). The above code detects http:\\www.name.com\Store\StoreID in the browser, but SENDS http:\\www.name.com\Client_Pages/Stores.php?storeID=StoreID to the page. In the above code, a function is used for the angularjs routing templateURL: to dynamically set the templateURL. So, when the user clicks something to see details of an item, how should I configure the URL? Should I use angularjs $location or window.location.href ? Should I use a longer URL with more parameters, a hash bang, or a query string? Should I use: http:\\www.name.com\Store\StoreID\ItemID or http:\\www.name.com\Store\StoreID#ItemID or http:\\www.name.com\Store\StoreID?ItemID or http:\\www.name.com\Store#StoreID?ItemID or Something else?

• Thunderbird opens twice always

  I have Thunderbird on Ubuntu 12.04 and every time I open it, it loads twice. Two windows are opened. To be clear, if I have Thunderbird closed (not minimized) and click on Mail, in the tray bar, it opens 2 main windows. I have had installed several add-ons, including FireTray and "Minimize to Tray Revived", but now I have removed all of them. Actually I can disable all the add-ons and it still happening. Any ideas?

How can i run stackbuilder ? edit:I install this from postgres-8.4.run package.It uses a GUI interface.After installing postgres it should run stackbuilder but it not run stackbuilder GUI. • How can I fix crashing Flash on Chromium?

  If I try to watch any flash video, I get a notification bubble telling me that the Shockwave Flash plugin has crashed. When run from the terminal, I get this error whenever flash crashes: [xxxx:xxxx:xxxxxxxxxx:FATAL:base/process_util_linux.cc(594)] Out of memory. where the 'x's are seemingly random numbers. Chromium reports its version as 9.0.597.94 (73967). I have tested in other browsers (Midori, Firefox) and flash works properly there. This is a new problem, that I assume was caused by an upgrade. How can I fix this?

• Custom session: Window does not capture full screen area by default. 12.04

  I am trying to create a custom session by creating a custom.desktop file in /usr/share/xesessions folder. Remember this is not a gnome or some other session. I have created my own application for this session, which are simple. Case 1 Chrome Browser Contents of custom.desktop file [Desktop Entry] Name=Internet Kiosk Comment=This is an internet kiosk Exec=google-chrome --kiosk TryExec= Icon= Type=Application Issue Chrome browser starts in kiosk mode but does not capture complete screen area. Some area is left at the bottom and right side of the screen. Case 2 Custom pyGTK app (Quickly) Contents of custom.desktop file [Desktop Entry] Name=Custom Kiosk Comment=This is a custom kiosk Exec=~/MyCustomPyGTKApp TryExec= Icon= Type=Application Issue My custom pyGTK app has window.fullScreen() in the code. That means it should open in full screen without the window chrome (and it does under the normal session). But that too, leaves lots of space around it. Need Help Can anyone tell me whats going on here. I think its some issue with borders as pointed out at http://www.instructables.com/id/Setting-Up-Ubuntu-as-a-Kiosk-Web-Appliance/?ALLSTEPS in Step 8 If by chance, Google Chromium is not stretched to the edges with the --kiosk switch enabled there is a simple fix. To stretch Chromium simply log in as your regular user and edit chromeKiosk.sh to not have the --kiosk switch. Then log in as the restricted user, click the wrench and choose options. Then on the Personal Stuff tab select Hide system title bar and use compact borders. Close the options screen and stretch Chromium to fit the monitor. Then go back into the options window and set it to Use system title bar and borders. After this is done, log out of your restricted user (might need to just reboot) and log into your regular user. Edit chromeKiosk.sh back to include the --kiosk switch again and Chromium should be full screen next time you log into the restricted user. If I were to use a custom pyGTK or a gtkmm app, how should I get around this issue. window.fullScreen() should occupy the complete screen area. This has to be done programmatically or in some other way that can scale. I have to deploy this on large number of machines located at different geographical areas. Doing it manually on every machine is not possible.

  When I start Xchat, I note the issue: As you can see, the bottom edge of the window is covered by some other thing (in this case, it's firefox status bar, but if I have no other window opened, I see my desktop background in that position), so I reduce it with the maximize button on top left: Finally I maximize it again and obtain the wanted behaviour: Is this a bug or can I adjust it in any way?
