  • How do I use jQueryUI's ui-states with JSF2's h:messages?

    It seems like it should be very simple to specify that the h:messages generated by JSF should be styled using jQueryUI's nice ui-states. But sadly I can't make it fit. It seems that the jQueryUI states require several elements (div,div,p,span) in order to make it work.   • python: simple example for a python egg with a one-file source file?

    I'm not quite sure how to build a really simple one-file source module. Is there a sample module out there one the web somewhere which can be built as a python .egg? From the setuptools page it looks pretty simple, you just have your setup.py file and then at least one other .py file somewhere, and I can build an .egg file OK, and even install it using easy_install, but I can't seem to import the file from within python. (note: using 2.6.4)

  • Image coding library

    Is there any good library for lossless image encoding/decoding that has compression rate more or less similar to PNG but decoding to raw RGB bitmap data would be much faster than PNG? Also alpha transparency is needed, but not essential because, alpha channel could be taken from separate image. Original problem lies in slowness of reading and decoding PNG files on iPhone using standard libraries. Obvious and the simples solution would have been storing raw RGB bitmap data, but then size of unpacked ipa is too large - 4 times larger than PNG files. So, I am trying to find some compromise solution.

  • Ooutsourcing design/programming (taxes!)

    Hello, I have a full time job, but I also have some ideas in mind -- and I want to outsource some code development and design to Russia. I have friends there who help me to do that -- they'll do the development, provide me invoice (which is just description of our terms, because we decided on flat rate monthly fee), and I need to wire them money. So, I do not have business entity. If I'll pay them, am I am required to pay taxes? Or do I deduct my business expenses (say $30K/year) from my earnings (say $50K/year), and pay taxes only on what's left ($20K to be precise)? Any rules on that? Am I limited with something here?     I've got some text which needs converting to use HTML entities, but it also contains tags. Here's a sample: <p>Ofcom issued the warning to Global-owned GWR in Bristol – which is required to operate as a "contemporary and chart music and information station" – for operating outside the music </p> The (" and -) need to be converted but the paragraph tags must remain HTML. Using something like htmlentities converts everything, how can I convert everything but the tags?

  • iPhone: CPU power to do DSP/Fourier transform/frequency domain?

    I want to analyze MIC audio on an ongoing basis (not just a snipper or prerecorded sample), and display frequency graph and filter out certain aspects of the audio. Is the iPhone powerful enough for that? I suspect the answer is a yes, given the Google and iPhone voice recognition, Shazaam and other music recognition apps, and guitar tuner apps out there. However, I don't know what limitations I'll have to deal with. Anyone play around with this area?

  • Android: dynamically setting links to text in strings.xml

    I'm trying to make an app with localisation built in, but I want a way that I can create a web link within the text, the URL being defined elsewhere (for ease of maintenance). So, I have my links in res/values/strings.xml: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <resources> ... <string name="link1">http://some.link.com</string> <string name="link2">http://some.link2.com</string> </resources> and my localised text in res/values-en-rGB/strings.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <resources> ... <string name="sampleText">Sample text\nMore text and link1\nMore text and link2.</string> </resources> I've not tested this bit, but from the localization section of developer.android.com it says that this approach to reducing content duplication should work, although I'm not sure what folder I should put Italian, for example. Would it be in 'res/values-it-rIT/strings.xml'? Lets assume that I have various other languages too. I'm looking for a way of taking the base localised 'sampleText' and inserting my html links in, and getting them to work when clicked on. I've tried two approaches so far: 1, Putting some formatting in the 'sampleText' (%s): <string name="sampleText">Sample text\nMore text and <a href="%s">link1</a>\nMore text and <a href="%s">link2</a>.</string> and then processing the text like this: TextView tv = (TextView) findViewById(R.id.textHolder); tv.setText(getResources().getString(R.string.sampleText, getResources().getString(R.string.link1), getResources().getString(R.string.link2))); But this didn't work when I click on the link, even though the link text is being put in to the correct places. 2, I tried to use Linkify but the regular expression route may be difficult as I'm looking at supporting non-Latin based languages. I tried to put a custom xml tag around the link text and then do something like this: Pattern wordMatcher = Pattern.compile("<span1>.*</span1>"); String viewURL = "content://" + getResources().getString(R.string.someLink); Linkify.addLinks(tv, wordMatcher , viewURL ); But this didn't work either. So, I'd like to know if there's a way of dynamically adding multiple URLs to different sections of the same text which will link to web content? Thank you, Martyn

    This is less a question and more a record of what I've found around the AVCam sample code provided by Apple for iOS4 and 5 camera manipulation. The symptoms of the problem for me were that my app would crash on launching the AVCamViewController after taking around 5-10 photos. I ran the app through the memory leak profiler and there were no apparent leaks but on inspection with the Activity Monitor I discovered that something called mediaserverd was increasing by 17Mb every time the camera was launched and when it reached ~100Mb the app crashed with multiple low memory warnings.
