  Hi, Could someone tell me the advantages to using the ConfigurationManager class which load's a config file for manipulation VS an XML file with a class you build to read it yourself? Recently, I built a class which inherits from ConfigurationSection in order to manipulate a custom section within app.config. This was quite a bit of work compared to just opening and reading an XML file. Some people chose the first approach, others chose the second. What's good practice?

• C# What's the difference between Encoding.GetEncoding(1255) and Encoding.GetEncoding(1252)?

  Hi all, I have a C# form based program and have been using System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding(1252) but I've had trouble reading non-English characters, I've discovered System.Text.Encoding.GetEncoding(1255) works however I don't know the implications of changing this so I'm hoping someone can shed some light on the difference and possible implications. • Crystal Report not working on Windows server 2008

  Crystal Report is working fine on local database,but its not working on windows server 2008 when i deployed it on IIS 7. I have run Crystal report run time also.I copied CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.dll, CrystalDecisions.ReportSource.dll and CrystalDecisions.Shared.dll from C:\Program Files (x86)\Business Objects\Common\3.5\managed\dotnet2 into bin folder of my application.Still its not showing anything and not throwing any error also.   Can someone help me on paginating results with sfDoctrinePager? $articlesResults = Doctrine::getTable('Article') ->getTemplate('Doctrine_Template_I18n') ->getPlugin() ->getTable() ->getGenerator('Doctrine_Search') ->search($searchTerm); This is the code I use to get the search results, this works fine, but I'm stuck on paginating them with sfDoctrinePager. • singleton vs factory?

  i've got 3 Log classes that all implements iLog interface: DatabaseLog FileLog ScreenLog there can only be one instance of them. initially i though of using single pattern for each class but then i thought why not use a factory for instantiation instead, cause then i wont have to create single pattern for each one of them and for all future Log classes. and maybe someone would want them as multiple objects in the future. so my questions is: should i use factory or singleton pattern here?

• Float PPM image file format?

  I've found a PPM image with the header starting with PF. The resolution number is stored in floating point (-1.000). No comments are inserted to get how it was produced. From the resolution, each pixel is composed by 12 bytes (4 bytes per component)... I suppose they are float or integer numbers. The problem is that I cannot get a clear image. Someone has already found this kind of images?

• fms port error after installed

  I installed fms 3.5 and actually am running apache for php in 8080 and want to make this fms service in different port and made it as 8083 while installing, After installed when am starting fms using ./fmsmgr server fms start it shows error message and i checked in messages file it gives already that port is used by someone "Mar 26 03:59:51 u15393552 Adaptor[12576]: Failed to initialize listeners for adaptor admin, FMS is already running or other adaptor admin" please find me the solution.

  Apparently .NET 4.0 does not have the PartCreator/ExportFactory for non-SL. Which is something I think I need for this. I was wondering if someone can help me (with an example please) of how to create multiple instances of the EXPORTED type in a DLL. Basically say I have a DLL that contains a type ConsoleLogger and it uses the interface ILogger (which I import/export through MEF)...How would I create an instance of ConsoleLogger whenever I wanted to? • Wildcard subdomains with GoDaddy giving me 404 error

  I have a hosting account with GoDaddy and I enabled wildcard subdomains by adding an A Record pointing to the IP Address. However when I try opening abc.mydomain.com, I get a 404 error. I searched the web and am doubting whether I need a .htaccess file. That file does not exist in my root folder. Can someone please guide me how to configure this and a sample .htaccess file if required. Many Thanks, Arun
