  • .NET read binary contents of .lnk file

    I want to read the binary contents of a .lnk file. As long as the target of the shortcut (lnk file) exists this works fine with IO.File.ReadAllBytes(string file). BUT If the target of the shortcut does not exist (believe me I want this) the method only returns zero's. I guess this is because the OS follows the link and if it does not exist it returns zero's Is there some way to bypass the fact that the framework follows the target of the .lnk before displaying the contents of the .lnk file?

What's the ideal way to setup hotkeys and how does one include the Windows key as a modifier? * I'm after a global shortcut. That means I don't have to have the application in focus for it to work.

In this I want a folder for each month like "Jan10", "Feb10"....."Dec10" In each month folder I want to create folder for "Todays date" I have create a shortcut for that 2010 folder with Target as C:\WINDOWS\explorer.exe /n, /e, /select, F:\2010 I want a functionality that will execute when I click the shortcut for f:\2010 icon. Any pointer would be great help.

  • Create Shortcuts for Your Favorite or Most Used Folders in Ubuntu

    Do you have certain folders that you access often each day but are only available through the Places Menu or Nautilus? See how easy it is to create shortcuts for your desktop and taskbar with our quick tutorial. To get started open Nautilus and locate the folders that you want to make new shortcuts for. For our example we chose Ubuntu One. Right click on the chosen folder and select Make Link. Your new shortcut will appear with the text Link to “Folder Name” and an Arrow Shortcut Marker attached. If you are happy with your new shortcut as is, then drag it to your desktop or taskbar as desired. We created the shortcut twice in our example…once for the desktop and once for the taskbar. For our example we decided to customize the taskbar shortcut a bit. To customize your shortcut right click on the shortcut and select Properties. Note: The desktop shortcut is limited on the amount you can customize it (name change and addition of up to four emblems to the folder). From here you can rename the shortcut and change the icon as desired. A quick name change and new icon made a huge improvement in how our taskbar shortcut looked. Note: The link for the icon we used is shown below. A little touch-up to our desktop shortcut and both are looking good.     I have a class that contains a load of properties that contain results of some calculations e.g: public class Results { public double Result1 { get; set; } public double Result2 { get; set; } } In a different class I am doing calculations to populate the above properties, e.g: public class Calc { private Results Calc() { Results res = new Results(); res.Result1 = ... some calculation res.Result2 = ... some other calculation res.Result3 = ... // not yet defined in 'Results' class return res; } } When I am writing the Calc class, 'Result3' will be highlighted in red as it is not yet defined in the 'Results' class. Currently I am using the Resharper ALT-Enter shortcut, selecting "Create Property 'Result3'" which will create the following code int the 'Results' class: public double Result3 { get { throw new NotImplementedException(); } set { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } Which I need to manually change to: public double Result3 { get; set; } Then I use the CTRL-Shift-Backspace shortcut to take me back to the 'Calc' class. How can I easily create automatic properties in the 'Results' class if they are not yet defined directly from the 'Calc' class?

    I know this has been asked in a subtle different way before (Change the folder that Windows Explorer starts at), but I want to open the Windows Explorer on a folder that is on my desktop in Windows XP. What I am doing currently is: %SystemRoot%\explorer.exe /e,/n,Desktop\Folder But it redirects me to "C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Desktop\Folder" as a subfolder of c:\ How it looks in the explorer: Desktop |->My Documents |->My Computer | |->c:\ | |->Documents and Settings | |-><username> | |->Desktop | |->Folder *Shortcut puts me here* |->Recycle Bin |->Folder *I want to be here* Any ideas?

  • Vista: Alt + Shift + P opens Windows Media Player; how to delete this hotkey?

    I just bought a new laptop, and am having to learn Vista. (My desktop has XP.) I was just trying to set some shortcut keys, and wanted to use Alt + Shift + P for Anywho.com, but to my surprise Alt + Shift + P is already taken. It calls Windows Media Player. Now I like WMP and will use it a lot, but I want my Alt + Shift + P for AnyWho.com. BTW I have PC Magazine's Hotkey Detective 2 (http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,5082,00.asp), but it doesn't show that Alt + Shift + P is taken. How to do this?

    Hi, I want to know if there is a short way to do the migrations down equivalent to rake db:migrate (for the migrations up). Instead of doing : rake db:migrate:up VERSION=1, rake db:migrate:up VERSION=2, ... we can do : rake db:migrate! But for : rake db:migrate:down VERSION=10, rake db:migrate:down VERSION=..., rake db:migrate:down VERSION=1, is there a shortcut? Tank you for your help!

    JAVA - NETBEANS This is an IDE question I am always working with collapsed methods, because I want to be able to see my methods all together. This is a little time consuming because I have to use the mouse to scroll up to the declaration of the method and click on the - (minus) icon. And then respectively go to the method I want to work on and click on the + (plus) icon. Is there a way through a keyboard shortcut to do the collapse (and respectively the expand)?

(I'm using RoR 3.0) The routes look like this. resources :countries do resources :regions do resources :wineries end end To access a winery route I want to be able to define a function that removes the need to specify a country and region each time. Like: def winery_path(winery) country_region_winery_path (winery.country, winery.region, winery) end Where should I do this? How can I get that to be available whereever url_for is available?
