  Problem If you run the “Generate database from model” wizard and execute the generated script the destination database could be the wrong one (for instance master of the SQL Server). Solution To use an own mdf attachable user database some connection information must specified during script execution. Execute your script opens the dialog “Connect to Server”. Press “Options” and go to the second tab “Connection Properties”. Select “Browse server” in the “Connect to database” dropdown box: Confirm the information dialog with “Yes”. In the following dialog you could choose your user database. Now the schema is created in the user database.

• Chrome + Touchscreen + Unity (14.04)

  I've got a Dell 14R with touchscreen with Ubuntu 14.04. When I start Google Chrome by clicking the launcher with the TouchPad or with the Super+ combination, touch support in Chrome doesn't work. When I touch some element, it only gets focus, but doesn't activate the element (button, field, etc). And touch gestures don't work. In the other hand, if I start Chrome by touching the launcher button, touch scroll works in Chrome, even flicking to left does back to the previous page, etc. It doesn't makes sense to me, but is always like this, even across reboots. Anyone can confirm this? Any idea on how to fix?

• Wordpress with user login and file manager support

I've been asked by a friend I used to freelance for if there's a solution in Wordpress where users an login, then they can upload their own files in a "my docs" kind of thing. I've never used WP, so before I dig into their info I thought I'd see if anyone here can confirm or maybe point me to a resource.   I'm working on a little Ruby script to move screenshots while renaming them based on a specific convention. I'll be writing tests to confirm the behavior. Ruby has lots of conventions for where to store files (e.g. the "spec" and "features" directories for RSpec and Cucumber, respectively), but I'm not finding best practices for storing files that will be acted upon by the tests. The same goes for a destination for the final copies of the files. So, the question in two parts is: Where should I store files that the test cases will use for a source input. Where should tests that need to write output files send them to.

• Will a rel=canonical link pointing to a 301 redirect pass less pagerank than one without a 301?

  On this official Google page about canonical links it says: Can rel="canonical" be a redirect? Yes, you can specify a URL that redirects as a canonical URL. Google will then process the redirect as usual and try to index it. There is no mention that this might dilute the impact of the canonical link. However, Google has made clear elsewhere that 301 redirects do dilute PageRank - roughly as much as a link dilutes PageRank. Is that relevant here? An email id will be registered and their finger print(unique for everyone) will be stored on our server.Person A and Person B are already registered and have installed the app.A and B deposit some money through our app from their credit card. When a person(Person A) want to send money to other people(person B), person B will ask person A to authorize his/her finger print on person B's mobile.The finger print will be retrieved from our servers and the payment will be made to person B. Person A will open the app (later or at that time) and confirm that yes he/she has authorized his/her finger print for the transaction.If person A has actually done the transaction,no problem.If person A has unknowingly or forcibly and opts that he/she has not authorized his/her finger print,money will be deducted from person B's account. • AGPL License - does it apply in this scenario?

  There is an AGPLv3 based software (Client) that makes web service calls (using SOAP) to another software (Server - commercial, cloud based). There is no common code or any connection whatsoever between these two except for the web service calls being made. My questions - Does the Server need to be AGPL too? I guess not - but would like to confirm. Let us say the end point URL for the Server can be configured on the Client side (by editing an XML file) to connect it to different Servers (again, there is no connection other than the webservice calls being made) does it require any of these Servers being AGPL? Are there any issues in running the Client as a DLL that is loaded by other commercial applications on users' desktops? Does it require these other applications also to be AGPL?

• Is it me, or is it you? Does the sync work?

  I have been on this for several hours now, trying to get a simple second folder to sync with my (paid) account. I cannot tell you how many times I removed all devices, removed stored passwords, killed all processes of u1, logged out and back in online...and still, the tick in the file browser (Synchronize this folder) is loading and loading and loading. Also, I have logged out, rebooted countless times. And this is after me somehow managing to get the u1 preferences to finally "connect" again. I have also checked the status of your services, and none are close to what I am experiencing. And I have checked the suggested related questions above! So please, just confirm whether it is a problem on my side, or a problem on your side.

• One Week on New Servers and Everything is Great

  It has been a week since we moved our Geekswithblogs.net System to a new set of load balanced servers and everything has been going great.  I am so amazed at the performance of the new hardware.  On average, we only use less than 5% of the CPU at any given moments or the database and web servers.  I have seen a performance boost in page load as well, but I will have to confirm that with the statistics as they roll in.  This is all in preparation for a new community we are launching with some friends that we will be announcing shortly.  We will be launching a nice little contest for our bloggers as well.   I am going to buy Logitech C510 HD webcam and I just checked on other questions here on AskUbuntu that it works out of the box with cheese. Jorge's response also confirm this and I feel confident buying it now. My question is can it be limited in any functionality that I would like to do with it? I would like it to be used with everything - Skype, Gtalk video chat, Facebook, Youtube etc. Also this may sound lame but I need to know whether I could record or do a video call in lesser resolution video (its a 720p one)? • How can I change resolution of "my video" in Skype?

  I have a logitech Quickcam Pro 9000 connected to my ubuntu desktop and it works fine with Skype. However, Skype inputs and sends my video at the native (for the webcam I think) resolution of 1600 x 1200. I can confirm that the camera supports a wide variety of resolutions starting from 160 x 120 upto 1600 x 1200 (including e.g., 320 x 240, 352 x 288) using cheese. I can select these resolutions and see the output is appropriately scaled. Also, I don't see any improvements in smoothness of motion in the captured video so I suspect the original 1600 x 1200 is scaled down in the path somewhere. Is it possible to somehow to enable this scaling capability towards Skype?

• Wireless doesn't connect in Ubuntu 10.04 Lxde

  Problem I have a Dell mini 9, and the wireless has worked without trouble in Ubuntu and Xubuntu versions 8.04 and 10.04. However, after installing lxde, the wireless doesnt connect. Network manager recognizes the local networks, and will say that it is connected, but ifconfig does not confirm the connection or the existance of a wlan0. I have another Ubuntu 10.04 notebook that works fine. My wireless device is Broadcom BCM4312 802.11b/g What I have tried I have tried to remove and install network-mananager and inxi but neither work, and sudo modprobe wl returns WARNING: All config files need .conf: /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist, it will be ignored in a future release.

• Only sdb shows up when installing 12.04 on new Dell inspiron 14z

  I got my brand new Dell Inspiron 14z yesterday, but failed to install Ubuntu. I can boot from a USB stick, and it works well. When trying to install, I confirm that the laptop is connected to the internet etc (as in the 2nd picture in the installation guide: How do I install Ubuntu?). When pressing "Continue" I do not get the question on installation type (alongside/replace/something else). Instead I get a window where I can select partitions: // Picture removed due to low reputation... The problem is that I can only select sdb in the drop drop down box, and I can do do nothing with sdb (like adding partitions etc). The main disk (sda) is partitioned using Gparted the following way: // Picture removed due to low reputation As far as I understand from other threads on askubuntu, this should work... What can I do to install Ubuntu alongside with Windows 7?

• Wordpress Multisite Network installation and dev questions

  Please go easy on me. I'm a clutzy dinosaur. I currently have a large, unwieldy website hand-coded in html/css with php includes. It currently has a single WP installation in a subdirectory. The plan is to reorganize, and I want to use WP as the CMS and incorporate 3 WP blogs for 3 subdomains. Ideally, would like to create a WP multisite network to allow for further expansion and to save admin trouble. I just want to confirm that if I install WP in the root directory and create 3 blogs (in subdomains), does this mean my website's home page is the mother blog's index.php? Essentially, I will have created 4 blogs - mother at root and 3 children in subdomains? How to set this up on my Mac (OSX 10.5.8) running MAMP for development? And then how to migrate to server without breaking?

• Need to run `nvidia-xconfig` before booting

  I formatted my whole hard drive, and installed Elementary OS (Ubuntu 10.10) on it in an attempt to get rid of all the problems. It failed. Every since I installed the nvidia-current drivers I first need to boot into recovery mode, and run sudo nvidia-xconfig before booting the system in the normal way. If I don't do this, it will just stop at a black screen after the boot screen, responding to nothing but CTRL+ALT+DELETE and the power button. When I boot the system after running the nvidia-xconfig command I can just start working as usual. Update I suspect it's got something to do with Plymouth. I shall have to try it again before I can confirm it, but removing the quiet and splash parameters from the kernel line in /boot/grub/grub.cfg seems to help. But still, I like my Plymouth screen. A black screen with text rolling over it (or without the text) doesn't attract me much.

• phishing attack. Where do I start the cleanup?

I've got a domain and a site... and no clue about the web (I'm OK with files and programs... ) I got a message from google that my site is a possible phishing site, with a link the the suspect page: http://www.mydomain.com/~phishers/Paypal/us/Confirm.php needless to say, I didn't put that up. Can someone point me to a good tutorial on what to do now? I'd like to figure out what happened so I can defend against it the next time around. How do I identify what kind of attach this is? Also, what is the tilde doing in the URL path? I couldn't find any path like this on my hosting account, so I'm not entirely sure how to delete it.

• Wifi worked after reinstalling the driver, but why did it stopped working in the first place?

  I was having an issue with connecting to my wifi router since yesterday; could see the router in the wireless networks available but the router was not authenticating my password. I tried unblocking the hardware switches though non was blocked. Finally on discussing with the ISP i gave a re-installation of the wireless driver a try; and to my surprise that worked.(I was assuming faulty wifi router). So as per the subject of the question; I am very curious to know what actually happened that prevented me to connect to my wifi. Any logs that I could see to confirm the cause of this suspicious activity.

• "Adding Printer" dialog asks for root password?

  I try to setup my printer under Ubuntu. So far it worked that i succeed to install the drivers. But Ubuntu says: No driver available for this model. This is the problem that Ubuntu doesn't recognize the right model, so i have to add and the choose the right driver manually. No problem i thought. But when i try to add a printer, i'm prompted to provide a root password althought i didn't setup one? So i'mnot able to confirm the dialog and add my printer, what's the reason?

• Should I use a workflow engine?

  I need to add some new features to a PHP application. It is to follow the steps of a order. A process create some orders, the order goes to confirmation, then if approved is sent to a provider, later the provider confirm that can deliver the order, a request is made to the provider and so on... I need to register when every step is made and send notifications. Also, some steps have a estimate time, and if that time is elapsed I need to send notifications so everybody know about the delay. When a process starts, it have a predefined set of steps, but in a middle the user should be able to create new sub-steps, and delete or skip future steps.. Should I use a workflow engine? Which one do you suggests (free-opensource only)?

• How to add SMS text messaging functionality to my website?

  I want to add the ability to send reminders to people via email and SMS for specific events that they have signed up for on a web application that I am building. The email part is not difficult, but I am wondering where to find a good solution for sending SMS messages. It would also be a plus if this solution allowed two-way SMS communication with my web application so that people would be able to reply with a CONFIRM or CANCEL type of a message. Has anyone implemented something like this? Does anyone know of good tools out there? • Apache FilesMatch regexp: Can it match by the cache buster 10 digit (rails generated) following the filename?

  According to the apache FilesMatch docs: The FilesMatch directive provides for access control by filename Basically, I only want to set an expires header for resources that have a 10 digit "cache buster" id appended to the name. So, here is my attempt at such a thing in my httpd.conf <FilesMatch "(jpg|jpeg|png|gif|js|css)\?\d{10}$"> ExpiresActive On ExpiresDefault "now plus 5 minutes" </FilesMatch> And here is an example of a resource I want to match: http://localhost:3000/images/of/elvis/eating-a-bacon-sandwich.png?1306277384 Now obviously my FilesMatch regexp is not matching so I am guessing 1 of 2 things is happening. Either my regexp is wonky or the '?1231231231' cache busting part of the file is not part of what apache considers part of the filename. Can anybody confirm and/or give me a way to cache only those resources that will not persist beyond the next deploy?
