• Problem with loading webpage in firefox

  I'm using ubuntu 12.04 and I always keep my pc up to date. For last 4 or 5 weeks, I noticed in firefox, the page displays enough data but spinner in the tab doesn't stop. Not only that, Some page load very quickly and wheel still speaning. Some are very very slow and wheel is as always speaning. Some websites (ex. google analytics) takes more than 5 minutes to load. Some websites load but slider doesnt load and wheel is speaning (ex. blenderdesh.com) I'm facing lot of problems for this. Please help me.....

• Showing Live Wallpaper in a 1.6 target app by detecting if it's a 2.1 device?

  We're building an Android app with target SDK 1.6, so it will run on 1.6 devices and higher. We'd like to support Live Wallpapers, which we know is 2.1+ only. Is there a way to build one app with 1.6 SDK as the target, but detect if the device it's running on is 2.1, and only in that scenario call the live wallpaper API. We're trying to avoid having to build a separate 1.6 and 2.1 versions, and would like to be able to support Live Wallpapers for only 2.1 devices. So to be clear- 1 app, that can support 1.6 and higher, and support live wallpapers for 2.1 devices. Any way of doing this?

• Why does Firefox + My code Destroys FireFox refresh

  I am soo angry right now. I lost hours and i dont know why this happens. Its a semi rant but i'll try to keep it short My code would not work, even after refreshing it was broken I fixed my code or so i thought because it stops working without me changing anything (you would think i am imagining this...) I somehow decide to make a new window or tab i run my code and verifies it works. I write more code and see everything is broken again I write test in a new window and see my code does work I see my code doesnt work and firebug DOES NOT HELP I notice when i create a new tab everything works I realize refreshing does not work and i MUST make a new tab for my code to work. Then i knew instantly what the problem was. I modify a display:none textbox but i set the values incorrectly. I cant see it because it is hidden. Now some of you might say its my fault because when doing a refresh all of the data may be cache. But here is the kicker. I was using POST data. I posted in between of the refresh each and everytime. Whats the point of using POST when the same data is cached and use anyways? If theres no chance for a search engine to follow a block user get link then why should i bother making anything post when security or repeat actions are not an issue? POST didnt seem to do anything.

• Which Firefox add-on is responsible for a rendering bug?

  I've found a page that isn't rendered correctly by Firefox with my usual profile. It is rendered correctly with a blank profile. I have quite a few add-ons. One of them is surely the culprit. How can I find out which? Userscripts often affect the rendering. But I turned off Greasemonkey, and it didn't help. So it's something else, presumably an extension (what else could it be? I have no chrome/userChrome.css.). I'm looking for an easy way to find out which one, easier than disabling a bunch of extensions and restarting umpteen times. Related: Create a tool to help users identify a problematic add-on by bisecting the list of installed add-ons — a similar problem which would admit a similar solution. I want to automate this as much as possible; something like git bisect, that doesn't require me to change my actual profile, would be ideal. A Linux-specific solution is fine with me.

• Fix Firefox Not Scrolling with Up/Down Arrow Keys or Home/End Keys

  If you’ve encountered a problem where your Firefox installation no longer scrolls when you use the up or down arrow keys, and even the Home or End keys don’t work anymore, there’s an easy fix. When this problem happens, you’ll notice that moving the arrow keys around just moves the cursor around the page. Annoying! The problem is because you tripped the Caret Browsing feature at some point, and accidentally hit Yes. To fix this, you can just hit the F7 key again. Or, if you want to do it the about:config way, filter by accessibility.browsewithcaret and make sure it’s set to false. Remember, you can double-click on any boolean value to toggle between true and false. • iPhone SDK UIScrollView doesn't get touch events after moving it

  Hi! I'm subclassing UIScrollView and on the start I fill this ShowsScrollView with some items. After filling it, I setup frame and contentSize to this ShowsScrollView. Everything works fine for now, i get touches events, scrolling is working.. But after rotation to landscape, I change x and y coordinates of ShowsScrollView frame, to move it from bottom to top right corner. Then I resize it (change width and height of ShowsScrollView frame) and reorder items in this scroll. At the end I setup new contentSize. Now i get touches event only on first 1/4 of scrollview, scrolling also work only on 1/4 of scrollview, but scroll all items in scrollview. After all actions I write a log: NSLog(@"ViewController: setLandscape finished: size: %f, %f content: %f,%f",scrollView.frame.size.width,scrollView.frame.size.height, scrollView.contentSize.width, scrollView.contentSize.height ); Values are correct: ViewController: setLandscape finished: size: 390.000000, 723.000000 content: 390.000000,950.000000 On rotating back to portrait, I move and resize all thing back and everything works fine.. Please help!

• How to quickly determine whether a file is an image file using iPhone/iPad SDK

  If I have a (potentially largish) file on disk, and I want to determine quickly whether UIImage will be able to load it. I don't necessarily trust the file extension to be reliable; I need to look at the actual data. I can (of course) load it into a UIImage, but that's relatively slow and rather memory intensive. I'd rather just peek at the first chunk of the file and make a decision. What's the fastest, most efficient way to go about this that is still fairly reliable? (Ideally, it'd be an Apple-provided API, but I didn't turn one up in my searches.) A 99.9% solution is good enough; I'm willing to have false positives in rare cases, such as when an image file has been truncated.

• How can I install a specific older version of Firefox and keep it from automatically updating?

  I wrote a bash script to configure a suite of tools for continuous integration on top of Ubuntu 10.04.2. The script recently stopped working and I tracked the problem down to the newer version of Firefox that was just released. The image of Ubuntu that I'm starting with already has Firefox installed, but I need a version in between what it comes with and the latest. Here's the code I was using: sudo add-apt-repository ppa:mozillateam/firefox-stable sudo apt-get update echo "y" | sudo apt-get install firefox How can I instead install Firefox 7.0.1 and keep it from automatically upgrading to the latest version? If I can, I'd like to avoid installing Firefox manually, so I can more easily use apt-get later, once the issue I'm running into gets resolved.

• Access Offline or Overloaded Webpages in Firefox

  What do you do when you really want to access a webpage only to find that it is either offline or overloaded from too much traffic? You can get access to the most recent cached version using the Resurrect Pages extension for Firefox. The Problem If you have ever encountered a website that has become overloaded and unavailable due to sudden popularity (i.e. Slashdot, Digg, etc.) then this is the result. No satisfaction to be had here… Resurrect Pages in Action Once you have installed the extension you can add the Toolbar Button if desired…it will give you the easiest access to Resurrect Pages. Or you can wait for a problem to occur when trying to access a particular website and have it appear as shown here. As you can see there is a very nice selection of cache services to choose from, therefore increasing your odds of accessing a copy of that webpage. If you would prefer to have the access attempt open in a new tab or window then you should definitely use the Toolbar Button. Clicking on the Toolbar Button will give you access to the popup window shown here…otherwise the access attempt will happen in the current tab. Here is the result for the website that we wanted to view using the Google Listing. Followed by the Google (text only) Listing. The results with the different services will depend on how recently the webpage was published/set up. View Older Versions of Currently Accessible Websites Just for fun we decided to try the extension out on the How-To Geek website to view an older version of the homepage. Using the Toolbar Button and clicking on The Internet Archive brought up the following page…we decided to try the Nov. 28, 2006 listing. As you can see things have really changed between 2006 and now…Resurrect Pages can be very useful for anyone who is interested in how websites across the web have grown and changed over the years. Conclusion If you encounter a webpage that is offline or overloaded by sudden popularity then the Resurrect Pages extension can help you get access to the information that you need using a cached version.   14.04 / Firefox 29.0 I've been using Bleachbit to clear usage/file history, and for the most part it works great. However, it doesn't seem to clear the website hostnames out of the URL, at all. These addresses are not bookmarked. Also, the total URL isn't preserved, just the hostname. Visit site http://www.bluesnews.com/some_random_URL_string Exit Firefox Run Bleachbit, with ALL Firefox options selected Restart Firefox Check history: completely empty, other than bookmarked sites. www.bluesnews is NOT bookmarked Type "blue" which is Firefox automatically completes as "http://www.bluesnews.com/" Alternate Step #3: Use Firefox's built-in "Clear History" and select ALL entries with a time frame of "Everything". Same result as above. My inquiry in BB forums hasn't been responded to. I found Dan's proposed solution, however changing autocomplete in about:config only turns off the function, it doesn't actually stop storing URLs.   NetBeans 7.1.1 now integrates Java ME SDK 3.0.5, so you do not have to download them separately. Java ME SDK was packaged in NetBeans Mobility Pack, a mobile application development toolkit for NetBeans. Therefore, Java ME SDK is no longer a separate menu on NetBeans. For those who have not downloaded Java ME SDK yet, please simply visit NetBeans website and download the latest version. For those who already have Java ME SDK integrated with NetBeans 7.1 or earlier, and want to update NetBeans IDE to 7.1.1, don't worry. They can co-exist. To use NetBeans plug-ins such as Device Selector, profiler, and Internationalization Resource Manager, you have to install "Java ME SDK Tools" from NetBeans. Here is how. 1.  Go to "Tools - Plug-ins" from NetBeans menu. You can find all the plug-ins you can install into NetBeans. Locate "Java ME SDK Tools" from the list. 2.   Hi there, I know it's possible to open links in an html page (let's say, if you're using Firefox) with TextMate if the link has this format: <a href="txmt://open?url=file:///home/.../index.html.haml">View</a> But is it possible to do a similar thing with VIM? • Copying Firefox profile

  My computer (well, Windows XP) failed. I got everything off the HD, including my Firefox profile, which I especially wanted because I had lots of open unsaved tabs in my current session (yes, I know that's bad practice!), but also to rescue bookmarks etc. I've now got Windows 7, and reinstalled Firefox. I've read the instructions on the Firefox website about creating new profiles, and I'm not sure they're very intuitive. It says that you can copy all the contents from an old profile into a new 'default' one, which I have done (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/back-and-restore-information-Firefox-profiles). However, when I open Firefox, the data from this profile isn't being used and Firefox doesn't seem to recognise the data that's there. What am I doing wrong?!

• Importing Delicious export into Firefox 3

  The HTML export file from Delicious creates an HTML file that, while importable into Firefox, loses all of the tags, which pretty much misses the point of delicious. Every link I've found to do the import doesn't work: The online converter Delicious-to-Firefox 3 keeps throwing a server error; the "better" version is down I tried using the trick of syncing Delicious bookmarks to Flock and then restoring that file to my Firefox browser. Although the bookmarks are in Firefox, they don't show up anywhere. I know they're in Firefox because when I create a backup file, they're in the JSON file but they refuse to show in the browser anywhere (clicking on any tag shows an empty list) Basically, I'm looking for someone who has successfully imported their delicious bookmarks, with tags, into Firefox 3.6.13 (Mac).

• Bookmarks toolbar in Firefox 29?

  I love to have my favorite bookmarks (bookmarklets, and so on) on my firefox toolbar, but, surprise, in firefox 29 the toolbar is empty. I tried to use classic look restorer toolbar, but still the bookmarks toolbar is empty. When I add a new bookmark, I select "bookmark toolbar", but still is not shown on the toolbar. Should I wipe my firefox profile and try again (ugh, no, please), or it's because the firefox ui team decided that nobody likes toolbar? EDIT: I have the same problem at work, but here I don't have the permissions to uninstall and reinstall!! What can I do??? I can't just wipe my profile, because I must set up Firefox Sync in the classic way, that means I have to set up in Firefox<28 and then upgrade. When I drag bookmarks to the bookmarks tab, I get the forbidden icon (I took a photo because with a screenshot it doesn't show it)

• Corona SDK: Animation takes a long time to play after "prepare" step

  First off, I'm using the current publicly available build, version 2011.704 I'm building a platformer, and have a character that runs along and jumps when the screen is tapped. While jumping, the animation code has him assume a svelte jumping pose, and upon the detection of a collision with the ground, he returns to running. All of this happens. The problem is that there is this strange gap of time, about 1/2 a second by the feel of it, where my character sits on the first frame of the run animation after landing, before it actually starts playing. This leads me to believe that the problem is somewhere between the "prepare" step of loading up a sprite set's animation sequence and the "play" step. Thanks in advance for any help :). My code for when my character lands is as follows: local function collisionHandler ( event ) if (event.object1.myName == "character") and (event.object2.type == "terrain") then inAir = false characterInstance:prepare( "run" ) -- TODO: time between prepare and play is curiously long... characterInstance:play() end end

• Is it costly to leave the Console and Script features enabled in Firebug?

  For some time now, I've run Firebug constantly enabled to do quick DOM inspections, leaving the Console and Script panels disabled. I'm just starting to use these two features so I don't have to keep using alerts for testing and debugging. I enable them while I use them and turn them back off when I'm done. I'd like to know if these particular features can slow things down such that they shouldn't be left on round-the-clock. Like do they slow down page loads, use inordinate chunks of memory or something? I don't see anything about it in the Firebug wiki.

• How can I use SVN to manage my Firefox Extension project?

  I'm using SVN to manage my Firefox extension project, and this project contains an XPCOM component. Firefox is loading directly from my working directory by placing a text file with the working directory's path in the ./extensions directory of my user profile. When Firefox starts, my extension fails to load & overlay; examining the Error Console, I see that the error states that ".svn cannot be loaded as a component" - a reference to the .svn directory inside my "components" directory of the plug-in structure. Is there any way to get Firefox to ignore this directory, or get SVN to generate a working copy without the .svn directories in it?
