    Hi all, I'd like to gather certain details of an SSL certificate on a particular web-site. I know this is straightforward using the openssl tool on Linux/MacOSX. However is the same or similar possible in JavaScript? I understand that the browser handles socket connections and that the SSL handshake occurs prior to any party sending data. However in an XMLHTTPRequest, I'd like to know if its possible to get these details as some sort of response code etc?

    All over the Internet, included even here at StackOverlow, people state that a good way to check if a request is AJAX or not is to do the following: strtolower($_SERVER['HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH']) == 'xmlhttprequest' ) However, I don't see $_SERVER['HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH'] in the official PHP documentation And when I try to do the following: echo $_SERVER['HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH']; Nothing is outputted. Am I doing something wrong? Because I'd really like to be able to use $_SERVER['HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH'] if it's available.

    Hi, I've run into a problem on a server running php 5.1.6 - the code i use to detect ajax requests isn't working as the $_SERVER['HTTP_X_REQUESTED_WITH'] variable is missing from the $_SERVER array. The same code works fine on php 5.2 and in firebug i can see the headers include X-Requested-With XMLHttpRequest. Anyone know any more about this issue and how I can get round it? Thanks in advance.

    I have a drop down select box inside a div. When the user clicks on change, a dropdown box appears next to the change/submit button and the user makes a selection which then updates the db and the selection appears instead of the dropdown. All works fine in IE8 and firefox but in IE7 it allows one selection (there are several identical dropdowns) but the second time a selection is made it hangs on please wait.   • Form submits correctly in Chrome/FF, but fails altogether in IE/Safari

    I have a form with a css submit button. When a the submit button is clicked, i call a function that executes: document.forms["request"].onsubmit(); What should happen, then, is that the onsubmit method ought to be triggered. This works properly in Chrome/FF, but for some reason IE/Safari will bypass the onsubmit function and simply add the parameter "address=" onto the url as if it were submitting the form and ignoring the onsubmit function.     Hi, i'm using jQuery for sending ajax requests to the server, but i have some problems with the charset. In the ajax function documentation is written that data is always sent in UTF-8 according to the W3C XMLHTTPRequest standard, so i don't think that jQuery allows you to change the request charset (except if you load a script, but that's not my case). So do you know a way to set the ISO-8859-1 charset for the ajax request in jQuery?

  • Ajax to read updated values from XML

    I am creating file upload progress bar. I have a CGI script which copies the data, and here I increment the progress bar value by ONE after certain iterations. I am storing the incremented value in XML file (I also tried using plain text file). On the other side I have ajax reading incremented value from xml and depending on that it increments the DIV element. However, what happens here is, it seems to me that although the ajax reads all the incremented values but it processes it after the CGI has finished execution. That is progress bar starts execution once the file copying and other stuff in CGI is completed.     I have a function that issues an AJAX call (via jQuery). In the complete section I have a function that says: complete: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus) { if(textStatus == "success") { return(true); } else { return(false); } } However, if I call this like so: if(callajax()) { // Do something } else { // Something else } The first is never called. If I put an alert(textStatus) in the complete function I get true, but not before that function returns undefined.

    jQuery 1.7.2 jQuery Validate 1.1.0 jQuery Form 3.18 Wordpress 3.4.2 I am trying to code a contact/ mail form in above environment/ with above jQuery libs. Now I am having a problem with the jQuery Form JS: I have taken the original code from the developers page for ajaxSubmit and only altered the target option to an ID which exists in my HTML source and replaced $ with jQuery in function showRequest. The problem is, that the function namend after success: does not fire. I tried the same with error: and again nothing fired. It seems that the button regions are disorder. This means, that the buttons also response if I click besides the button.... Please help me. My .html file and .xml file are in the same folder, so I believe I have the correct file pathway. I could just be making a rookie mistake here, but I can't for the life of me figure out why a table listing the c_id and facebook_id values is not being created. I looked around for answers and haven't been able to find any. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

  • Cross site scripting help?

    I have a piece of javascript executing on a jetty server which is sending a XMLHTTPRequest to a scoket on another server(wamp server). The request gets sent to the socket, however the XHR response seems to be getting blocked. My only thoughts on this is it may be an issue with XSS(cross site scripting). Is there a way in which i could enable cross site scripting for this particular request or is there something else i should be doing? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Jetty servlet respons to Ajax always empty

    Hi I try to run a java server on Jetty which should respond to an ajax call. Unfortunately the response seems to be empty when I call it with ajax. When I call http://localhost:8081/?id=something I get an answer. BUT I do not know how to send data reusing the same TCP from browser to server. so there is not the 3 way handshake and only 2 tcp packets. I know it is possible but I do not how to do it : use xmlhttprequest? or script tag ajax ? can you tell me how to do it. thank you very much
