  • Restart mysql keeping the data

    - by sitonico
Hi all, I'm quite new using mysql, so let me know if I'm missing something. I took some holidays, and when I got back to work and I tried to log in phpmyadmin I got a ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock' (2). I never had this problem, so I was browsing to look for a solution. I tried some things, and I'm afraid I touched too much. I couldn't solve the problem, and the I realized that I had some actualizations to be done, and I thought that they may be helpful for mysql. Then I also realized that when I was doing this actualizations first day, they stopped because I had a lack of space, so I restarted then. Then, when the system was configuring mysql, it didn't advance. I waited for a long time and then I just stopped it and restarted the computer. After it, I just tried to uninstall mysql with sudo apt-get remove mysql-server-5.1, and install it again, but it didn't work. Now I have 2 questions: What do you think it is happening? Should I remove mysql completely? What should I do? I'm afraid of losing my databases, is there anyway to recover the data? Thank you very much in advance. -----------EDIT------- These are the messages: alfonso@alfonso-laptop:/$ tail -F /var/log/syslog | grep Feb 15 15:08:01 alfonso-laptop init: mysql post-start process (15192) terminated with status Feb 15 15:08:01 alfonso-laptop init: mysql main process (15263) terminated with status Feb 15 15:08:01 alfonso-laptop init: mysql main process ended, Feb 15 15:08:31 alfonso-laptop init: mysql post-start process (15264) terminated with status Feb 15 15:08:31 alfonso-laptop init: mysql main process (15358) terminated with status Feb 15 15:08:31 alfonso-laptop init: mysql main process ended, Feb 15 15:09:01 alfonso-laptop init: mysql post-start process (15359) terminated with status Feb 15 15:09:01 alfonso-laptop init: mysql main process (15447) terminated with status Feb 15 15:09:01 alfonso-laptop init: mysql main process ended, Feb 15 15:09:32 alfonso-laptop init: mysql post-start process (15448) terminated with status 1 This is the content of error.log-old 110128 13:17:20 [Note] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Normal shutdown 110128 13:17:20 [Note] Event Scheduler: Purging the queue. 0 events 110128 13:17:20 InnoDB: Starting shutdown... 110128 13:17:22 InnoDB: Shutdown completed; log sequence number 0 590872 110128 13:17:22 [Note] /usr/sbin/mysqld: Shutdown complete 110214 2:08:18 [Note] Plugin 'FEDERATED' is disabled. 110214 2:08:19 InnoDB: Started; log sequence number 0 590872 110214 2:08:19 [Note] Event Scheduler: Loaded 0 events 110214 2:08:19 [Note] /usr/sbin/mysqld: ready for connections. • MySQL Master-Master replication generating thousands of log files

    - by Andrew
Today, I checked the /var/lib/mysql/ directory of a server in a master-master replication setup and noticed there were about 3,600 slave-relay.00xxxx files in there (where "xxxx" is an incrementing integer). They appear to be binary log files and don't take up much space (only about 42K), but are they an indication that something is wrong? They range in date from August until today with about 25 per day. Thanks for any help.

  • Heroku Problem During Database Pull of Rails App: Mysql::Error MySQL server has gone away

    - by Rich Apodaca
    Attempting to pull my database from Heroku gives an error partway through the process (below). Using: Snow Leopard; heroku-1.8.2; taps-0.2.26; rails-2.3.5; mysql-5.1.42. Database is smallish, as you can see from the error message. Heroku tech support says it's a problem on my system, but offers nothing in the way of how to solve it. I've seen the issue reported before - for example here. How can I get around this problem? The error: $ heroku db:pull Auto-detected local database: mysql://[...]@localhost/[...]?encoding=utf8 Receiving schema Receiving data 17 tables, 9,609 records [...] /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:166:in `query': Mysql::Error MySQL server has gone away (Sequel::DatabaseError) from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:166:in `_execute' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:125:in `execute' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/connection_pool.rb:101:in `hold' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/database.rb:461:in `synchronize' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:125:in `execute' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/database.rb:296:in `execute_dui' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset.rb:276:in `execute_dui' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:365:in `execute_dui' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset/convenience.rb:126:in `import' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset/convenience.rb:126:in `each' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset/convenience.rb:126:in `import' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:144:in `transaction' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/connection_pool.rb:108:in `hold' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/database.rb:461:in `synchronize' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/adapters/mysql.rb:138:in `transaction' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/sequel-3.0.0/lib/sequel/dataset/convenience.rb:126:in `import' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:211:in `cmd_receive_data' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:203:in `loop' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:203:in `cmd_receive_data' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:196:in `each' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:196:in `cmd_receive_data' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:175:in `cmd_receive' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/commands/db.rb:17:in `pull' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/commands/db.rb:119:in `taps_client' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/taps-0.2.26/lib/taps/client_session.rb:21:in `start' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/commands/db.rb:115:in `taps_client' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/commands/db.rb:16:in `pull' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/command.rb:45:in `send' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/command.rb:45:in `run_internal' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/../lib/heroku/command.rb:17:in `run' from /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/heroku-1.8.2/bin/heroku:14 from /usr/bin/heroku:19:in `load' from /usr/bin/heroku:19

  • Output problem in mysql query in MFC program

    - by D.Gaughan
Im currently working on a small MFC program that outputs data from a mysql database. I can get output when im using an sql statement that does not contain any variable eg. select album from Artists; but when i try to use a variable the program compiles but i get no output eg. mysql_perform_query(conn,select album from Artists where artists = '"+m_search_edit"'") Here is the function for mysql_perform_query: MYSQL_RES* mysql_perform_query(MYSQL *conn, const char* query) { // send the query to the database if (mysql_query(conn, query)) { // printf("MySQL query error : %s\n", mysql_error(conn)); // exit(1); } return mysql_use_result(conn); } And here is the code block for outputting the data: struct connection_details mysqlD; mysqlD.server = "www.freesqldatabase.com"; // where the mysql database is mysqlD.user = "**********"; // the root user of mysql mysqlD.password = "***********"; // the password of the root user in mysql mysqlD.database = "***************"; // the databse to pick // connect to the mysql database conn = mysql_connection_setup(mysqlD); CStringA query; query.Format("select album from Artists where artist = '%s'", CT2CA(m_search_edit)); res = mysql_perform_query(conn, query); //res = mysql_perform_query (conn, "select distinct artist from Artists"); while((row = mysql_fetch_row(res)) != NULL){ CString str; UpdateData(); str = ("%s\n", row[0]); UpdateData(FALSE); m_list_control.AddString(str); } The m_search_edit variable is the variable for an edit box. I am using Visual Studio 2008 with one copy of this program unicode and one nonunicode, I also have a version built with VC++ 6. Any tips on how I can get output from the databse using the m_search_edit variable??

  • Yum installing wrong MySQL version on CentOS 5 (Amazon)

    - by Marius Stuparu
I'm having trouble with a CentOS server running on AWS. This is CentOS 5.6 i386 from RightImage, but the problem was the same on all RightScale AMIs. When issuing the following command: yum install mysql mysql-server mysql-devel the only packages proposed by yum are MySQL-devel-community and MySQL-server-community. Which would't be a problem, except this package is old/incomplete, because it does not create a "mysqld" service, only a /etc/init.d/mysql (notice the missing d). That would't be a problem, I can start the service by doing ./etc/init.d/mysql start, and it starts OK, but there is no "mysql" (or other mysql*) command available. If I try to force a different version (yum install mysql50-server...) I get this yum error: mysql-5.0.77-4.el5_6.6.i386 from updates has depsolving problems --> mysql conflicts with MySQL-server-community (even when I don't have MySQL-server-community installed). I have tried this before and after yum update, in a fresh image. How can I install a working version of MySQL? I'm stuck on CentOS 5 because I want to install Kloxo (which does not yet support CentOS 6). I'm not interested in Webmin, and I can't afford cPanel. Thanks!

  • cannot log into mysql locally

    - by Lostsoul
When I try to log into mysql locally using the command: mysql -u root -p I get this error: ERROR 2002 (HY000): Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2) I can access the server remotely(not as root) and my web pages are using the mysql fine, but locally I cannot log on(which I need because I need to create some users). Only change I made was to attach another drive to the server and move the sql data there. Here's my.cnf [mysqld] datadir=/media/ephemeral0/data/mysql socket=/media/ephemeral0/data/mysql/mysql.sock user=mysql # Disabling symbolic-links is recommended to prevent assorted security risks symbolic-links=0 # adding more config skip-external-locking long_query_time=1 slow_query_log slow_query_log_file=/var/log/log-slow-queries.log log-bin=mysql-bin server-id= 1 [mysqld_safe] log-error=/var/log/mysqld.log pid-file=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid myisam_recover_options I read I need to edit the socket info in my.cnf to make sure it points to the right socket file..I double checked and the file exists(although it starts with an S when I do ls -l "srwxrwxrwx 1 mysql mysql 0 Jun 21 03:43 mysql.sock"). I'm not really sure how to resolve this. I have tried to reboot and ran yum update to make sure I was running the latest packages. Please help!

  • MySQL Query Cache

    - by BRADINO
According to MySQL.com the query cache stores the text of a SELECT statement together with the corresponding result that was sent to the client. If an identical statement is received later, the server retrieves the results from the query cache rather than parsing and executing the statement again. The query cache is shared among sessions, so a result set generated by one client can be sent in response to the same query issued by another client. Purely hypothetical example: SELECT `name` FROM `beers` WHERE `favorite` = true To force the database NOT to give you a cached result simply add SQL_NO_CACHE to the query: SELECT SQL_NO_CACHE `name` FROM `beers` WHERE `favorite` = true mysql query cache sql no cache mysql nocache

  • SQL – Quick Start with Explorer Sections of NuoDB – Query NuoDB Database

    - by Pinal Dave
This is the third post in the series of the blog posts I am writing about NuoDB. NuoDB is very innovative and easy-to-use product. I can clearly see how one can scale-out NuoDB with so much ease and confidence. In my very first blog post we discussed how we can install NuoDB (link), and in my second post I discussed how we can manage the NuoDB database transaction engines and storage managers with a few clicks (link). Note: You can Download NuoDB from here. In this post, we will learn how we can use the Explorer feature of NuoDB to do various SQL operations. NuoDB has a browser-based Explorer, which is very powerful and has many of the features any IDE would normally have. Let us see how it works in the following step-by-step tutorial. Let us go to the NuoDBNuoDB Console by typing the following URL in your browser: http://localhost:8080/ It will bring you to the QuickStart screen. Make sure that you have created the sample database. If you have not created sample database, click on Create Database and create it successfully. Now go to the NuoDB Explorer by clicking on the main tab, and it will ask you for your domain username and password. Enter the username as a domain and password as a bird. Alternatively you can also enter username as a quickstart and password as a quickstart. Once you enter the password you will be able to see the databases. In our example we have installed the Sample Database hence you will see the Test database in our Database Hierarchy screen. When you click on database it will ask for the database login. Note that Database Login is different from Domain login and you will have to enter your database login over here. In our case the database username is dba and password is goalie. Once you enter a valid username and password it will display your database. Further expand your database and you will notice various objects in your database. Once you explore various objects, select any database and click on Open. When you click on execute, it will display the SQL script to select the data from the table. The autogenerated script displays entire result set from the database. The NuoDB Explorer is very powerful and makes the life of developers very easy. If you click on List SQL Statements it will list all the available SQL statements right away in Query Editor. You can see the popup window in following image. Here is the cool thing for geeks. You can even click on Query Plan and it will display the text based query plan as well. In case of a SELECT, the query plan will be much simpler, however, when we write complex queries it will be very interesting. We can use the query plan tab for performance tuning of the database. Here is another feature, when we click on List Tables in NuoDB Explorer.  It lists all the available tables in the query editor. This is very helpful when we are writing a long complex query. Here is a relatively complex example I have built using Inner Join syntax. Right below I have displayed the Query Plan. The query plan displays all the little details related to the query. Well, we just wrote multi-table query and executed it against the NuoDB database. You can use the NuoDB Admin section and do various analyses of the query and its performance. NuoDB is a distributed database built on a patented emergent architecture with full support for SQL and ACID guarantees.  It allows you to add Transaction Engine processes to a running system to improve the performance of your system.  You can also add a second Storage Engine to your running system for redundancy purposes.  Conversely, you can shut down processes when you don’t need the extra database resources. NuoDB also provides developers and administrators with a single intuitive interface for centrally monitoring deployments. If you have read my blog posts and have not tried out NuoDB, I strongly suggest that you download it today and catch up with the learnings with me. Trust me though the product is very powerful, it is extremely easy to learn and use. • MySQL Workbench ubuntu 12.04 [closed]

    - by fernando garcía
Possible Duplicate: There's an issue with an Alpha/Beta Release of Ubuntu, what should I do? Do you know when Mysql workbench would be available in ubuntu repositories. Is there any other way to install MySQL Workbench on ubuntu 12.04 than http://setupguides.blogspot.com.es/2012/04/install-mysql-workbench-on-ubuntu-1204.html or http://helms-deep.cable.nu/~rwh/blog/?p=229? I mean, I would like a pre-compiled package which could me (automatically) upgraded and/or purged when the stable release comes to the standard repos, or maybe, the (deprecated) mysql-admin and mysql-query-browser packages. Thanks.

  • Error 1130 connecting to MySQL on Ubuntu Server 12.04

    - by maGz
I hope this is the right place for this...I currently am running Ubuntu Server 12.04 through VirtualBox on a Windows 7 host. I am trying to connect to the VM's MySQL engine using MyDB Studio for MySQL, and when I enter my MySQL login credentials, it gives me the following error back: Error 1130: Host '192.168.56.1' is not allowed to connect to this MySQL server I am running the VM with Adapter 1 enabled for NAT, and Adapter 2 enabled for Host-only Adapter. eth0 10.0.2.15 and eth1 192.168.56.21. I can connect to Apache at 192.168.56.21, and through PhpMyAdmin, everything works as it should. I did edit the /etc/mysql/my.cnf file and commented out the line bind-address = 127.0.0.1 by adding a # in front of it - I thought that this should have allowed remote connections. Any ideas on how I can solve this? What could be wrong? EDIT: I am trying to connect as 'root'. EDIT: SOLVED!!

  • Configuring MySQL Cluster Data Nodes

In this post, I’ll share best practices on the configuration of data nodes to achieve optimum performance on the latest generations of multi-core, multi-thread CPU designs. Configuring the Data Nodes The configuration of data node threads can be managed in two ways via the config.ini file: - Simply set MaxNoOfExecutionThreads to the appropriate number of threads to be run in the data node, based on the number of threads presented by the processors used in the host or VM. - Use the new ThreadConfig variable that enables users to configure both the number of each thread type to use and also which CPUs to bind them too. The flexible configuration afforded by the multi-threaded data node enhancements means that it is possible to optimise data nodes to use anything from a single CPU/thread up to a 48 CPU/thread server. Co-locating the MySQL Server with a single data node can fully utilize servers with 64 – 80 CPU/threads. It is also possible to co-locate multiple data nodes per server, but this is now only required for very large servers with 4+ CPU sockets dense multi-core processors. 24 Threads and Beyond! An example of how to make best use of a 24 CPU/thread server box is to configure the following: - 8 ldm threads - 4 tc threads - 3 recv threads - 3 send threads - 1 rep thread for asynchronous replication. Each of those threads should be bound to a CPU. It is possible to bind the main thread (schema management domain) and the IO threads to the same CPU in most installations. In the configuration above, we have bound threads to 20 different CPUs. We should also protect these 20 CPUs from interrupts by using the IRQBALANCE_BANNED_CPUS configuration variable in /etc/sysconfig/irqbalance and setting it to 0x0FFFFF. The reason for doing this is that MySQL Cluster generates a lot of interrupt and OS kernel processing, and so it is recommended to separate activity across CPUs to ensure conflicts with the MySQL Cluster threads are eliminated. When booting a Linux kernel it is also possible to provide an option isolcpus=0-19 in grub.conf. The result is that the Linux scheduler won't use these CPUs for any task. Only by using CPU affinity syscalls can a process be made to run on those CPUs. By using this approach, together with binding MySQL Cluster threads to specific CPUs and banning CPUs IRQ processing on these tasks, a very stable performance environment is created for a MySQL Cluster data node. On a 32 CPU/Thread server: - Increase the number of ldm threads to 12 - Increase tc threads to 6 - Provide 2 more CPUs for the OS and interrupts. - The number of send and receive threads should, in most cases, still be sufficient. On a 40 CPU/Thread server, increase ldm threads to 16, tc threads to 8 and increment send and receive threads to 4. On a 48 CPU/Thread server it is possible to optimize further by using: - 12 tc threads - 2 more CPUs for the OS and interrupts - Avoid using IO threads and main thread on same CPU - Add 1 more receive thread. Summary As both this and the previous post seek to demonstrate, the multi-threaded data node extensions not only serve to increase performance of MySQL Cluster, they also enable users to achieve significantly improved levels of utilization from current and future generations of massively multi-core, multi-thread processor designs. A big thanks to Mikael Ronstrom, Senior MySQL Architect at Oracle, for his work in developing these enhancements and best practices. I can’t start MySQL on Ubuntu 12.04 after restored backup from innobackupex. Before I tried to restore the db from backup I moved the datadir and got the same problem. With help from google I fixed the problem and got MySQL started. Ready to set up my new slave, I restored the backup via innobackupex –-copy-path /db/mysql, and now I can’t start MySQL. I am sure of the following: In my.cnf the datadir = /db/mysql The new datadir is chown mysql:mysql. The /etc/apparmor.d/usr.sbin.mysqld contains: #/var/lib/mysql/ r, #/var/lib/mysql/** rwk, /db/mysql r, /db/mysql** rwk, AND /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.pid w, /var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock w, /run/mysqld/mysqld.pid w, /run/mysqld/mysqld.sock w, /var/log/syslog gives me the following info: http://pastebin.com/1TQGsaBH What am I missing? Thanks.

  • Installing MySQL without root access

    - by vinay
I am trying to install MySQL without root permissions. I ran through the following steps: Download MySQL Community Server 5.5.8 Linux - Generic Compressed TAR Archive Unpack it, for example to: /home/martin/mysql Create a my.cnf file in your home directory. The file contents should be: [server] user=martin basedir=/home/martin/mysql datadir=/home/martin/sql_data socket=/home/martin/socket port=3666 Go to the /home/martin/mysql directory and execute: ./scripts/mysql_install_db --defaults-file=~/my.cnf --user=martin --basedir=/home/martin/mysql --datadir=/home/martin/sql_data --socket=/home/martin/socket Your MySQL server is ready. Start it with this command: ./bin/mysqld_safe --defaults-file=~/my.cnf & When I try to change the password of MySQL it gives the error: Cannot connect to mysql server through socket '/tmp/mysql.sock' How can I change this path and see whether the mysql.sock is created or not?

  • re-enabling a table for mysql replication

    - by jessieE
We were able to setup mysql master-slave replication with the following version on both master/slave: mysqld Ver 5.5.28-29.1-log for Linux on x86_64 (Percona Server (GPL), Release 29.1) One day, we noticed that replication has stopped, we tried skipping over the entries that caused the replication errors. The errors persisted so we decided to skip replication for the 4 problematic tables. The slave has now caught up with the master except for the 4 tables. What is the best way to enable replication again for the 4 tables? This is what I have in mind but I don't know if it will work: 1) Modify slave config to enable replication again for the 4 tables 2) stop slave replication 3) for each of the 4 tables, use pt-table-sync --execute --verbose --print --sync-to-master h=localhost,D=mydb,t=mytable 4) restart slave database to reload replication configuration 5) start slave replication

  • Query Months help

    - by StealthRT
Hey all i am in need of some helpful tips/advice on how to go about my problem. I have a database that houses a "signup" table. The date for this table is formated as such: 2010-04-03 00:00:00 Now suppose i have 10 records in this database: 2010-04-03 00:00:00 2010-01-01 00:00:00 2010-06-22 00:00:00 2010-02-08 00:00:00 2010-02-05 00:00:00 2010-03-08 00:00:00 2010-09-29 00:00:00 2010-11-16 00:00:00 2010-04-09 00:00:00 2010-05-21 00:00:00 And i wanted to get each months total registers... so following the example above: Jan = 1 Feb = 2 Mar = 1 Apr = 2 May = 1 Jun = 1 Jul = 0 Aug = 0 Sep = 1 Oct = 0 Nov = 1 Dec = 0 Now how can i use a query to do that but not have to use a query like: WHERE left(date, 7) = '2010-01' and keep doing that 12 times? I would like it to be a single query call and just have it place the months visits into a array like so: do until EOF theMonthArray[0] = "total for jan" theMonthArray[1] = "total for feb" theMonthArray[2] = "total for mar" theMonthArray[3] = "total for apr" ...etc loop I just can not think of a way to do that other than the example i posted with the 12 query called-one for each month. This is my query as of right now. Again, this only populates for one month where i am trying to populate all 12 months all at once. SELECT count(idNumber) as numVisits, theAccount, signUpDate, theActive from userinfo WHERE theActive = 'YES' AND idNumber = '0203' AND theAccount = 'SUB' AND left(signUpDate, 7) = '2010-04' GROUP BY idNumber ORDER BY numVisits; The example query above outputs this: numVisits | theAccount | signUpDate | theActive 2 SUB 2010-04-16 00:00:00 YES Which is correct because i have 2 records within the month of April. But again, i am trying to do all 12 months at one time (in a single query) so i do not tax the database server as much when compared to doing 12 different query's... UPDATE I'm looking to do something like along these lines: if NOT rst.EOF if left(rst("signUpDate"), 7) = "2010-01" then theMonthArray[0] = rst("numVisits") end if if left(rst("signUpDate"), 7) = "2010-02" then theMonthArray[1] = rst("numVisits") end if etc etc.... end if Any help would be great! :) David

  • Connecting to external MySQL DB from a web server not running MySQL

    - by jrb04c
While I've been working with MySQL for years, this is the first time I've run across this very newbie-esq issue. Due to a client demand, I must host their website files (PHP) on a IIS server that is not running MySQL (instead, they are running MSSQL). However, I have developed the site using a MySQL database which is located on an external host (Rackspace Cloud). Obviously, my mysql_connect function is now bombing because MySQL is not running on localhost. Question: Is it even possible to hit an external MySQL database if localhost is not running MySQL? Apologies for the rookie question, and many thanks in advance.

  • MySQL replication ignore data changes but not table structure changes

    - by Ed Manet
Is there a way to setup MySQL replication so that CREATE TABLE and ALTER TABLE statements get replicated but INSERT, DELETE and UPDATE statements do not? I've got replication working fine and have several tables that are ignored as per the requirements. But we have a requirement that the slaves have an empty copy of the ignored table. We create those empty copies before we start replicating. Since the table is ignored, table structure changes don't get passed down from the master to the slave's empty copy. I know it's a strange requirement.

  • Make page to tell browser not to cache/preserve input values

    - by queen3
Most browser cache form input values. So when user refreshes page, the inputs have same values. Here's my problem. When user clicks Save, server validates POSTed data (e.g. checked products), and if not valid, sends it back to browser. However, as stated above, even if server clears selection for some values, they may still be selected because of browser cache! My data has invisible (until parent item selected) checkboxes, so user may be even not aware that some previous value is still selected, until clicks Save again and gets error message - even though user thinks it's not. Which is irritating. This can be resolved by doing Ctrl-F5, but it's not even a solution. Is there automatic/programmatic way to tell browser not to cache form input data on some form/page?
