  • How to disable the link MissingFile on Shotwell

    I have some personal photos which are encrypted by CryptKeeper. I doesn't like to disclose them to anyone. Whenever i lke to view them, I mount them using CryptKeeper. I need to include these photos in Shotwell photo manager at the time of mounting. So, I mounted them using CryptKeeper. Then I imported them to Shotwell. I made a new event and etc to organize and view those photos. After that I unmounted them using CryptKeeper because someone may see it. Now I don't want any single trail on Shotwell beacuse of the same problem. But there is a new button 'MissingFiles' appeared and when i clicked on it, all the photo thumbnail which i unmounted showed there. I dont't want right'click on them and select 'remove from library'; beacuse when i want to view them next time on Shotwell, I need to import, organize, etc at that time. So, the only option here is to disable the unavailability of that MisssingFiles button.

  • Rails: radio button selection for nested forms objects

    I have the following form for photo_album which uses the nested forms feature of the Rails in saving the photos while updating the photo_album. And having trouble with the selection of radio button value. I want only one of the photos be able to select as the album cover, but due to the way rails produces form element ids and names, I am able to select all of the photos as album covers.   • Grouping php array items based on user and created time

    This is an array of objects showing a user uploading photos: Array ( [12] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:36:41 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photo] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4181 ) ) [44] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:37:15 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photo] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4180 ) ) ) However instead of showing: mr smith uploaded one photo mr smith uploaded one photo I'd like to display: mr smith uploaded two photos by grouping similar items, grouping by user ID and them having added them within, let's say 15 minutes of each other. So I'd like to get the array in this sort of shape: Array ( [12] => stdClass Object ( [type] => photo [created] => 2010-05-14 23:36:41 [user] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 760 [username] => mrsmith ) [photos] => Array ( [0] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4181 ) [1] => stdClass Object ( [id] => 4180 ) ) ) ) preserving the first item of the group and it's created time, and supplementing it with any other groupable photos and then unsetting any items that were grouped (so the final array doesn't have key 44 anymore as it was grouped in with 12). The array contains other actions than just photos, hence the original keys of 12 and 44. I just can't figure out a way to do this efficiently. I used to use MySQL and PHP to do this but am trying to just use pure PHP for caching reasons. Can anyone shed any insights? I thought about going through each item and seeing if I can group it with the previous one in the array but the previous one might not necessarily be relevant or even a photo. I've got total brain freeze :(

    Hallo rails version 2.3.5 I'm learning rails and I run into a problem. I'm doing some nesting forms from the railscasts tutorials. I changed the text area into a data field to upload photos and everything is working. Now i have to display the uploaded pictures and i simply can't do it. I Tried everything I could find on the net but nothing worked.   • Pinterest and the Rising Power of Imagery

    If images keep you glued to a screen, you’re hardly alone. Countless social users are letting their eyes do the walking, waiting for that special photo to grab their attention. And perhaps more than any other social network, Pinterest has been giving those eyes plenty of room to walk. Pinterest came along in 2010. Its play was that users could simply create topic boards and pin pictures to the appropriate boards for sharing. Yes there are some words, captions mostly, but not many. The speed of its growth raised eyebrows. Traffic quadrupled in the last quarter of 2011, with 7.51 million unique visitors in December alone. It now gets 1.9 billion monthly page views. And it was sticky. In the US, the average time a user spends strolling through boards and photos on Pinterest is 15 minutes, 50 seconds. Proving the concept of browsing a catalogue is not dead, it became a top 5 referrer for several apparel retailers like Land’s End, Nordstrom, and Bergdorfs. Now a survey of online shoppers by BizRate Insights says that Pinterest is responsible for more purchases online than Facebook. Over 70% of its users are going there specifically to keep up with trends and get shopping ideas. And when they buy, the average order value is $179. Pinterest is also scoring better in terms of user engagement. 66% of pinners regularly follow and repin retailers, whereas 17% of Facebook fans turn to that platform for purchase ideas. (Facebook still wins when it comes to reach and driving traffic to 3rd-party sites by the way). Social posting best practices have consistently shown that posts with photos are rewarded with higher engagement levels. You may be downright Shakespearean in your writing, but what makes images in the digital world so much more powerful than prose? 1. They transcend language barriers. 2. They’re fun and addictive to look at. 3. They can be consumed in fractions of a second, important considering how fast users move through their social content (admit it, you do too). 4. They’re efficient gateways. A good picture might get them to the headline. A good headline might then get them to the written content. 5. The audience for them surpasses demographic limitations. 6. They can effectively communicate and trigger an emotion. 7. With mobile use soaring, photos are created on those devices and easily consumed and shared on them. Pinterest’s iPad app hit #1 in the Apple store in 1 day. Even as far back as 2009, over 2.5 billion devices with cameras were on the streets generating in just 1 year, 10% of the number of photos taken…ever. But let’s say you’re not a retailer. What if you’re a B2B whose products or services aren’t visual? Should you worry about your presence on Pinterest? As with all things, you need a keen awareness of who your audience is, where they reside online, and what they want to do there. If it doesn’t make sense to put a tent stake in Pinterest, fine. But ignore the power of pictures at your own peril. If not visually, how are you going to attention-grab social users scrolling down their News Feeds at top speed? You’re competing with every other cool image out there from countless content sources. Bore us and we’ll fly right past you.

    Hi.I am making an app that it takes photos from web site for some Username and shows it on UITable with username then when clicking user name it shows photos for this user and then clicking to name of photo it shows full screen photo. My question is I am using NSData to get photos from internet.Am I have to save also those data to CoreDAta? I am using like when pressing name of user it again creates NSData and downloads photos from internet and shows them on UTable. And it takes time. What is good approach? and How can save this images to CoreDAta?   • Text over floated images

    I need to put some text over a series of images in a gallery. I found many tutorials about the text part however the images need to be floated. Whenever I add float:left though the trick no longer works.   • JQuery - Fade in new Background Image?

    Hi, I think I may be trying something that isn't possible. I was recently tasked to create a html version of the flash site. On the flash site when you click on the body the image changes. I have done this with JQuery. Its brilliant! However.. it isn't "flash" enough. The powers that be want a fade effect between images. This is where I have come completely undone. This is how my script works at the moment. Images are stored in a div called photos. This is hidden. <div id="photos"> <img src="image.jpg" alt="Some caption" style="#page-bg-color" /> </div> When the page is loaded jquery checks to see if the first image is loaded. If it isn't then a loading symbol spins. When the image is loaded, it becomes the body background. $("body").css('background', 'url(' + photos[currentImage]["url"] + ') no-repeat 50% 50% fixed ' + photos[currentImage]["background"]); I have tried the following. I have tried animate. However, this doesn't work. I have tried this plugin: http://plugins.jquery.com/project/bgImageTransition This doesn't work either. It appears to clone the tag and do something. I assume it isn't working because you cannot clone the body tag. That or it is really old and is no longer compatible with the current version of JQuery. I fear that I have coded my way down a dead end. Does anybody know how I could make this work?

  • Namespaced controller redirect urls

    Hello, i have probably a simple question. I have created a namespace panel with categories controller. After creating or editing a category, rails redirects me to website.com/categories/:id instead of website.com/panel/categories/:id. I've noticed that in the _form view, the @panel_categories argument of form_for() function points to /categories nor /panel/categories and that's causing this behaviour. Offcourse i can add a :url => '/panel/categories' param but i feel that it's not the best solution... Can you provide me any better solution?   • I’m screwing up this LEFT JOIN

    I'm doing a left join on several tables. What I want to happen is that it list all the businesses. Then, it looks through the photos, videos, specials and categories. IF there are photos, then the tables shows yes, if there are videos, it shows yes in the table. It does all that without any problems. Except for one thing. For every photo, it shows the business that many times. For example, if there are 5 photos in the DB for a business, it shows the business five times. Obviously, this is not what I want to happen.   • How to scale out image hosting/serving?

    I asked this question on stackoverflow and it was suggested that I try it here: I'm building a website where users can upload photos and I'd also convert uploaded photos into thumbnails. Planning ahead, if the website gets popular, how do I scale it out so that the images (both original and thumbnails) will be stored in and served from multiple servers? Maybe a cluster? Is there any open source software that would help me in this? Thanks.

    I manage the website for my daughter's U-10 soccer team. I'd like to set up a place where team members can both view and upload pictures. It needs to be secure, so that only authorized/registered members can view and upload pics. I've looked into Picasa and Flickr, and while both are good for sharing photos, only one registered user can upload. Are there any good sites that allow multiple people to upload photos?

  • Re. copying movie from USB card reader back to my camera

I originally copied a short movie from my camera onto the computer via a USB card reader and then copied it back onto the camera via the same USB card reader along with some photos. The photos have copied back fine but the movie, although it's showing to have copied, can't be seen. Any reason for this? Thanks

The first file lists all of the photos, about 600 images, but they have zero bytes. The other 2 files are fine. I can't recover the compact flash card because I have used it too many times since then. Is there any way to recover the images on my drive?

  • How can I make photo CDs from iPhoto

    I have a new Macbook, don't know the OS, but just got it--it's the cheaper model. I saved a lot of photos on iPhoto and can't figure out how to burn a CD. Tried the "share" function and when I choose a location to save the photos and hit burn, get an error message that says can't create in that location. Needs to be run on a pc or photo processing place.

  • What's the easiest way to get an iPhone 3GS movie into iMovie?

    It seems like the steps right now are: Shoot movie sync iPhone with Mac via iTunes Open iPhoto Import photos from iPhone into iPhoto Open iMovie (or retart if it was already running) On startup, iMovie detects videos in iPhoto and imports them. Yikes. Is there an easier way? It's a bit odd that the videos are handled as photos, in the first place. And no, I'm not jailbreaking my iPhone simply to save me a few of these steps.
