    I have a pdf page displayed with CGContextDrawPDFPage. I want to keep this page shown and have an image slide in from top over this page, just as it can be seen in the iBooks application. It's a book, the sliding image is a bookmark that slides in when you are about to close the book. What is the best way to go about implementing this?

  • Wake up thread blocked on accept() call

    Sockets on Linux question I have a worker thread that is blocked on an accept() call. It simply waits for an incoming network connection, handles it, and then returns to listening for the next connection. When it is time for the program to exit, how do I signal this network worker thread (from the main thread) to return from the accept() call while still being able to gracefully exit its loop and handle it's cleanup code. Some things I tried: 1. pthread_kill to send a signal. Feels kludgy to do this, plus it doesn't reliably allow the thread to do it's shutdown logic. Also makes the program terminate as well. I'd like to avoid signals if at all possible. pthread_cancel. Same as above. It's a harsh kill on the thread. That, and the thread may be doing something else. Closing the listen socket from the main thread in order to make accept() abort. This doesn't reliably work. Some constraints: If the solution involves making the listen socket non-blocking, that is fine. But I don't want to accept a solution that involves the thread waking up via a select call every few seconds to check the exit condition. The thread condition to exit may not be tied to the process exiting.     Contents of check.py: from multiprocessing import Process import time import sys def slp(): time.sleep(30) f=open("yeah.txt","w") f.close() if __name__=="__main__" : x=Process(target=slp) x.start() sys.exit() In windows 7, from cmd, if I call python check.py, it doesn't immediately exit, but instead waits for 30 seconds. And if I kill cmd, the child dies too- no "yeah.txt" is created. How do I make ensure the child continues to run even if parent is killed and also that the parent doesn't wait for child process to end?

  • relaunch app when it ends or when it prints out certain text (stdout)

    I have an app which acts almost like a daemon. Sometimes it quits on error and many times it prints an error msg then ask users to press any key to close. How can i relaunch the app when either case happens? I am more interested in the 2nd case. I can do this in c++, C# or python. The script is an old python that i dont want to change (a newer c# version is in the works but not stable)

  • Custom QAction/QMenu for mouse button detection

    I'm trying to create a popup menu, where I can detect the mouse button that was pressed for a given item. I've created a custom QAction already to build my QMenu, but the triggered signal when the menu item is pressed doesn't provide a QMouseEvent for me to query the button pressed. Also, I'm setting the a status tip for each QAction, which appears in the status bar when I mouse over it, but it stays even after I close the QMenu. Is this normal behavior?

  • I can I separate multiple logical pages in a text file I create in Perl?

    So far, I've been successful with generating output to individual files by opening a file for output as part of outer loop and closing it after all output is written. I had used a counting variable ($x) and appended .txt onto it to create a filename, and had written it to the same directory as my perl script. I want to step the code up a bit, prompt for a file name from the user, open that file once and only once, and write my output one "printed letter" per page. Is this possible in plain text? From what I understand, chr(12) is an ascii line feed character and will get me close to what I want, but is there a better way?     I have a wall application using WebRTC DataChannels. In the code I've managed to work out the connection, but I'm not getting notified when a peer disconnects.     I was wondering if there is an implementation in R where it sorts a permutation of n numbers into the original 1...n sequence and provides the number of reversals needed. Eg an implementation of the "sorting by reversals" or "sorting by translocation" as outlined in this ppt. Specifically, I have a permutation of a sequence of n elements, pi(n), and I want to figure out how close it is to the original sequence. The number of reversals seems a good metric. Thanks!
