• How do I set up gaeunit 2.0a with my Django app?

  I am trying to set up Google App Engine unit testing for my web application. I downloaded the file from here. I followed the instructions in the readmen by copying the directory gaeunit into the directory with the rest of my apps and registering 'gaeunit' in settings.py. This didn't seem sufficient to actually get things going. I also stuck url('^test(.*)', include('gaeunit.urls')) into my urls.py file. When I go to the url http://localhost:8000/test, I get the following error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '../../gaeunit/test' Any suggestions? I'm not sure what I've done wrong. Thanks!

• Django date filter: how come the format used is different from the one in datetime library?

  For formatting a date using date filter you must use the following format : {{ my_date|date:"Y-m-d" }} If you use strftime from the standard datetime, you have to use the following : my_date.strftime("%Y-%m-%d") So my question is ... isn't it ugly (I guess it is because of the % that is used also for tags, and therefore is escaped or something) ? But that's not the main question ... I would like to use the same DATE_FORMAT parametrized in settings.py all over the project, but it therefore seems that I cannot ! Is there a work around (for example a filter that removes the % after the date has been formatted like {{ my_date|date|dream_filter }}, because if I just use DATE_FORMAT = "%Y-%m-%d" I got something like %2001-%6-%12)?

  Im using Windows Server 2008, IIS7, .NET 4 and when I use the FileUpload control to save a file to a directory I get : Access to the path 'C:\xxx\Websites\CMS\Admin\test' is denied. I have given the test folder full control permissions for NETWORK SERVICE but it makes no difference. I have given full control to the Everyone user but makes no difference. It might have something to do with the fact that up in the CMS folder there is a MVC web application and in the CMS\Admin folder there is a web forms web application. It is the web forms web application that is trying to upload the file and getting the permissions error. Can anyone offer a suggestion.

Is there a clean way to instrospect an object so that I can get a dict of fields and properties. class MyModel(Model) url = models.TextField() def _get_location(self): return "%s/jobs/%d"%(url, self.id) location = property(_get_location) What I want is something that returns a dict that looks like this: { 'id' : 1, 'url':'http://foo', 'location' : 'http://foo/jobs/1' } I can use model._meta.fields to get the model fields, but this doesn't give me things that are properties but not real DB fields.

• How to view / enumerate / obtain a list of all effective rights / permissions on an Active Directory object?

  I am new to Server Fault and was hoping to find an answer to a question that I have been struggling with for the past week or so. I have been recently asked by my management to furnish a list of all the effective rights / permissions delegated on the Active Directory object for our Domain Admins group. I initially figured I'd use the Effective Permissions Tab in Active Directory Users and Computers but had two problems with it. The first was that it doesn't seem very accurate and the second was that it requires me to enter the name of a specific user, and it only shows me what it figures are effective permissions for that user. Now, we have more than a 1000 users in our environment so there's no way I can possibly enter 1000 user names one by one. Plus, there is no way to export that information either. I also looked at dsacls from MS but it doesn't do effective permissions. Someone pointed me to a tool called ADUCAdmin but that seems to falsely claim to do effective permissions. Could someone kindly help me find a way to obtain this listing? Basically, I need to generate a list of all the modify effective permissions granted on the Domain Admins group object along with the list of all the admins to which these permissions are granted. In case it helps, I don't need a fancy listing - simple text / CSV output would be enough I would be grateful for any assistance since this is time and security sensitive for us.

  SHGetKnownFolderPath() and its cohorts accept one of the constants defined here (http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd378457%28v=VS.85%29.aspx ), returning the path to a directory. I'm looking for one of these folders which is reliably writable by all users (including LocalSystem) on XP, Vista, and Windows 7... but I think I'm striking out. It appears that, in fact, there is no single location on the hard drive anymore where you can put a file and be assured that all users can write to it on all these OS versions, without fiddling the permissions first. Is this true?

  I have some hosting on a Linux server and I have a few folders that I don't ever want to delete. There are sub folders within these that I do want to delete. How do I set the CHMOD permissions on the folders I don't want to delete? Of course, when I say "I don't ever want to delete" - what I mean is that the end customer shouldn't delete them by accident, via FTP or in a PHP script etc. As an example of directory structure...   Hello all, I am having problems with the PHP function unlink. I keep getting this error: Warning: unlink(C:\wamp\www\webs\db\db_1276259188.mdb) [function.unlink]: Permission denied in C:\wamp\www\webs\pure-php-export.php on line 242 I am on a windows machine where Apache runs as the user SYSTEM. I have set the permissions of the db folder as "Full Control" for Apache's user. I thought my script might still be holding on to that file (its an uploaded file that gets used via PDO). try{ $dbh = new PDO("odbc:Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb, *.accdb)};Dbq=$mdbFilename", $username, $password); }catch(PDOException $e){ echo $e->getMessage(); } So before I attempt to delete the file I unset the above and try to delete like so: $dbh = null; unset($dbh); if(is_file($mdbFilename)){ unlink($mdbFilename); } I really appreciate any help on this as it has been driving me mental for the past two hours! • Why can't WordPress create directories when uploading themes?

  I can't workout how to solve this problem so wordpress would let me upload themes. I have a fresh copy of Fedora 17 installed on my dev machine. I then installed mysql using: yum install mysql mysql-server. Next I installed WordPress which also installs apache and php: yum install wordpress I can go to http://localhost/wordpress and see WordPress working. But when I try tried to install my theme it asked for ftp credentials. I then updated the wp-config.php file and set the FS_METHOD constant to direct. Now it doesn't ask for ftp credentials but it gives me this error: Could not create directory. /usr/share/wordpress/wp-content/themes/my-theme-name/ httpd service is running under 'apache' user and 'apache' group. The /usr/share/wordpress/ directory is recursively own by 'apache' user and 'apache' group too. I've even set the permissions to 777 (also recursively) and even then I keep getting the same error as above. How can I solve this problem?

What I would like to accomplish is to be able to check permissions vis a vis the current IPrincipal's authorizations rather than its roles. Generally, authorizations are read/add-delete/update/none for a given type. So I would like to write something like this: [CustomPermission(SecurityAction.Demand, Type = typeof(Foo), MinimumAuthorization = AuthorizationFlags.Read)] public void SomeMethod(){} Is this possible? I've looked over the code at http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/system.security.ipermission.aspx. This shows how to implement the interface, but I don't understand how the above pseudo-code would be able to check against the IPrincipal's authorizations for the type.   I have a webserver with multiple domain and user accounts setup. Recently I renamed one of the domain names and changed it's username correspondingly. However, this new user cannot access the data from the domain because it does not have the required permissions. How can I solve this problem? I've tried chown and I still cannot get access to the files. I know that I could use umask 006 at the head off my various scripts, but I don't like that approach as many users write their own scripts and may forget to set the umask themselves. I really just want the filesystem to set newly created files and directories with a certain permission if it is in a certain folder. Is this at all possible? Update: I think it can be done with POSIX ACLs, using the Default ACL functionality, but it's all a bit over my head at the moment. If anybody can explain how to use Default ACLs it would probably answer this question nicely.

• Cant access log files in production.

  I was trying to run my application and check for some output on the production.log. However Rails throws this error. Apache log Rails Error: Unable to access log file. Please ensure that /var/www/somefolder/someapp/log/production.log exists and is chmod 0666. The log level has been raised to WARN and the output directed to STDERR until the problem is fixed. I have performed the necessary chmod 666 production.log to make it work but I realized that the file is under root access. So my file permissions are -rw-rw-rw- 1 root root 20845 2010-03-18 01:18 production.log Im not sure how to allow Rails to access this file. Im fairly new to managing linux production env so I request you to excuse my ignorance.
