I am looking for a good ldap library on Django, that would allow me to manage my ldap server : adding, modifying, deleting entries for groups, users, and all kind of objects The library django-ldapdb looked promising, it offers a Model base class that can be used to declare ldap objects in a Django fashion (which is what we ideally want), however we've had some bugs with it, and furthermore it seems like it is not maintained any more. Does somebody know a good library that could do the trick ? Otherwise I guess I'll just try to improve and debug django-ldapdb ... Thanks !

  I was able to extract href value of anchors in an html string. Now, what I want to achieve is extract the href value and replace this value with a new GUID. I need to return both the replaced html string and list of extracted href value and it's corresponding GUID. Thanks in advance. • Struts. Go back to same page after an action

  Hi there, my situation is the following: I have a project with JSP, Struts and a lot of actions. Lets say that I have these 3 main groups {contacts.do, calendar.do and notes.do} with lot of actions in each of them. I have an action unrelated to all of them but since I didn't know where to put it I just chose contacts. My aim is after the action, to go back to the page I was but since the action is place in contacts it returns to the default action of contacts. Is there anything I could do for this purpose? Thank you.

• Could/Should I use static classes in asp.net/c# for shared data?

  Here's the situation I have: I'm building an online system to be used by school groups. Only one school can log into the system at any one time, and from that school you'll get about 13 users. They then proceed into a educational application in which they have to co-operate to complete tasks, and from a code point of view, sharing variables all over the place. I was thinking, if I set up a static class with static properties that hold the variables that are required to be shared, this could save me having to store/access the variables in/from a database, as long as the static variables are all properly initialized when the application starts and cleaned up at the end. Of course I would also have to put locks on the get and set methods to make the variables thread safe. Something in the back of my mind is telling me this might be a terrible way of going about things, but I'm not sure exactly why, so if people could give me their thoughts for or against using a static class in this situation, I would be quite appreciative.

  First off, please bear with me if I don't state the SQL question correctly. I have a table that has multiple columns of data. The selection criteria for my table groups based on column 1(order #). There could be multiple items on each order, but the item #'s are not grouped together. Example: Order Customer Order Date Order Time Item Quantity 123456 45 01/02/2010 08:00 140 4 123456 45 01/02/2010 08:30 270 29 123456 45 03/03/2010 09:00 140 6 123456 45 04/02/2010 09:30 140 10 123456 45 04/02/2010 10:00 270 35 What I need is a result like: Order Customer Order Date Order Time Item Quantity 123456 45 04/02/2010 09:30 140 10 123456 45 04/02/2010 10:00 270 35 This result shows that after all the changes the final order includes 10 of Item 140 and 35 of Item 270. • Setting nagios location in map

  I have Nagios installed and I'm working on getting the network map correct. The problem I have is that "Nagios" appears to be in the "internet" when it should be located on the MechNAS server. What I want is Nagios Process to show up inside the local network. So it should show up at the same layer as MechNAS and development. Where exactly is that configured? I didnt see any place to set that up and it looks now like it's out there on it's own. Documentation and Googling didnt seem to turn up anything either.

  I wanted to translate strings groupbytext, show in groups in the column menu of a grid panel. In ext-lang-pt.js the string are not included. wheres as in other languages thse string are included. These strings are in cluded in ext-lang-pt_PT.js. what is the difference between ext-lang-pt.js and ext-lang-pt_PT.js. Do I have to include the file ext-lang-pt_PT.js in order to translate the strings in portugese? Please let me know

• .NET Framework - When to Upgrade?

  I’m faced with a challenge of leading two (currently) separate .NET development groups with different development strategies. One group is developing on the .NET Framework 2.0 (with maybe a few applications on 3.5). The other group immediately adopts any new framework that comes out, and begins coding any new applications with it (they are running 2.0-4.0 applications). For this last group, applications written in an earlier version than the latest framework do not get upgraded. What is the current school of thought when it comes to a company developing web applications on when to adopt a new framework, and whether to migrate applications built on previous versions to the latest framework or not? Years ago the thought was to wait until the technology became mainstream - but that doesn't seem to apply much now with .NET.

  Just trying to figure out the best way to design my table for the following scenario: I have several areas in my system (documents, projects, groups and clients) and each of these can have comments logged against them. My question is should I have one table like this: CommentID DocumentID ProjectID GroupID ClientID etc Where only one of the ids will have data and the rest will be NULL or should I have a seperate CommentType table and have my comments table like this: CommentID CommentTypeID ResourceID (this being the id of the project/doc/client) etc My thoughts are that option 2 would be more efficient from an indexing point of view?

  I am searching one student from each class from one group. There are different class groups and every group has different classes and every class has multiple students. See below: Group1 --> Class1, Class2 etc Class1 --> GreenStudent1, GreenStudent2 etc Class2 --> RedStudent1, RedStudent2 etc ------------------------------------------------------ SELECT table1.id, table1.myname, table1.marks table2.studentid, table2.studentname FROM table1 INNER JOIN table3 ON table1.oldid = table3.id INNER JOIN table2 ON table2.studentid = table3.newid WHERE table1.classgroup = 'SCI79' GROUP BY table1.oldid ORDER BY table1.marks DESC There are different joins applied in the query. Above mentioned query giving me correct results but I need little modification in it. Current query returning me one student from each class. What I need? I need one student from each class but only that student who has MAXIMUM table1.marks So I should have one student from each class who has maximum number in their relevant classes. Can anyone suggest some solution or rewrite this query? Thanks :)

  for a project i'm making, i'm using Objectify and Google AppEngine I'm quoting and old message from Google Groups, but the problem i have is the same: Here's the problem I'm trying to solve: I'd like to persist instances of several subclasses of one superclass to the datastore, and then retrieve them by querying for that superclass. (For example, a query for Game would return instances of Chess and Backgammon). Is there any way to accomplish this using Objectify? Because the thing i want is the same, but the topic does not provides yet an answer (it's 3 years old), I moved here with the same question. From 2010 to now, this question has been solved?   I'm writing a report generator that will present data each being generated from 4 parameters. Time interval Group Measurement value(one of several to choose from) Device All these are orthogonal giving me a 4-D dataset to present. There are some simplifications where one parameter is the same for all and other parameters are merged. Still it appears as there are situations where all values are wanted on the report. In short the report should both be simple to overview and contain details. There will also be an interface where the user setup the range and granularity for each parameter. The most naive solution would be to have a 2D table where each cell contain another table with values of the remaining two dimensions. This is technically feasible but I'm worried that it would become hard to overview. Another approach is to present first two dimensions in a 2D table and the remaining parameters in groups Are there any good method to address this kind of issue?

• Problem with Xcode and iPhone preference files

  Hi, I created four language files for my app: two for the preferences and two for the strings. I added them into Xcode and it works great on the phone but the string files are shown as "Localizable.strings (de)" and "Localizable.strings (en)", while I have two files called "Root.plist" under the "Settings.bundle" in the groups "de.lproj" and "en.lproj" (see screenshot).When I don't add the two "Root.plist" files instead of "Settings.bundle", I get what I want ("Root.plist (de)" and "Root.plist (en)") but I have no "Settings.bundle" in Xcode. Is somebody out there who can help me to a get what I want?

• Which OS should I boot into for virtualization?

  This might be a silly question. I use windows 7 99% of the time. I run linux 10% of the time and XP 5% of the time. I am thinking about getting a Intel® Core™ i7-2600 Processor which has hardware support for virtualization. I dont think i want more than one partition. May have a swap partition. Which OS should I make my primary (and only) partition? I suspect windows7 if i am always using it as going through a linux layer would slow it down. Does it matter much which OS i use if i have hardware support for virtualization? At the moment I am using VMWare player. I suspect software doesnt effect performance?

  I recently was trying to add errors.add_to_base code in the middle of some model logic and was wondering why it wasn't showing up in my view that was iterating over all errors. I then ran across this e-mail which explains why: http://groups.google.com/group/rubyonrails-talk/browse_thread/thread/e045ec1dead1ff06?pli=1 The question is then, how does one add errors with add_to_base if it doesn't make sense to put them into a validate method? I have some complex logic. The model needs to talk to a has_many relationship which has its own relationships that go through a myriad of conditionals to figure out if a request makes sense. It's nothing that can be tied to a validate method easily. How does one add errors then accordingly?

• What things can I teach a group of children about programming in one day?

  I'm running a day for 30 kids aged 11-18 about computer game programming. They have all opted to do it, but they have no experience at all of programming. My main aim is for them to learn a few things: programming is hard/challenging programming is something they can learn to do being a computer games programmer != playing games all day a little more insight into how games actually work I'd thought of splitting them into two groups, of younger/less experience and older/more experience, then doing slightly different things. I'd considered showing them Scratch, Game Maker, before showing them the basics of Python and getting them to write a simple text based game (perhaps something like, computer picks a random number, you have to guess it in as few guesses as possible, computer says higher/lower for each guess). Does anyone have any ideas of things to do/show them/ways to teach them?

  Hi all, i am wondering how can i select specific number of child objects instead of taking them all with include? lets say i have object 'Group' and i need to select last ten students that joined the group. When i use '.Include("Students"), EF includes all students. I was trying to use Take(10), but i am pretty new to EF and programming as well, so i couldn't figure it out. Any suggestions? UPDATED: ok, i have Group object already retrieved from db like this: Group group = db.Groups.FirstOrDefault(x=>x.GroupId == id) I know that i can add Include("Students") statement, but that would bring ALL students, and their number could be quite big whether i need only freshest 10 students. Can i do something like this: var groupWithStudents = group.Students.OrderByDescending(//...).Take(10);? The problem with this is that Take< no longer appears in intellisense. Is this clear enough?   I'm new to Python (like Zygote new), and it's just to supplement another program but what I need is I have a text file that's a group of items for a game and it is formatted so: [1] Name=Blah Faction=Blahdiddly Cost=1000 [2] Name=Meh Faction=MehMeh Cost=2000 [3] Name=Lollypop Faction=Blahdiddly Cost=100 And I need to be able to find out what groups (the numbers in brackets) have matching values. So if I search Faction=Blahdiddly Group 1 & 3 will come up. I unfortunately have NO idea how to do this. Can anyone help?

I would be able to define these groups: supplier (my company) subcontractors customer Then, I would be able to define three type of permissions for issues: Issue that can be viewed only by supplier Issue that can be viewed only by supplier and subcontractors Issue that can be viewed by all (supplier, subcontractors, customer) I tried redmine but I didn't find a way of hide some issues, they are always visible. There is an open issue and a patch for that but I not sure if it suit well for my situation. With this patch you need always to remember to make it private and there is only a level of permission: private or not. I need something more flexible. EDIT: I need a software that works on Fedora Linux.

• R scatterplot overplotting color

  So far I have this: qplot(df[[1]], as.numeric(rownames(df)), group=df[[2]], color=df[[2]], ylab="") I want to use different colors for the points in the 2 groups - perhaps a lighter shade for the what's in black now and a darker - say, red for what's in blue. Also, I want to use hexbin kind of thing for group=0 but not for group=1. I'm not able to get the syntax to get this working. In the current plot 0 is in black and 1 is in blue. Added: I worked on it some more, and by using factor and scale_colour_manual, I got the grey color for 0 and red for 1: > palette1 [1] "grey" "red" "blue" "violet" "black" fy=factor(y, labels=c('grey', 'red')) qplot(x, seq(1:length(x)),col=fy, ylab="") + geom_point() + scale_colour_manual(values=palette1) Pending questions are: How to first plot all the grey and then red on top (some of the red is now hidden because the grey is plotted over). How to apply the hexbin logic for group0 i.e. the grey points only and not for the red.
