• Best choice for 3D Physics Engine for C#/XNA

  Since 2007 I've been working on the development of an open-source game engine, and have been using JigLibX for 3D Physics. However, the developers on the project have stopped contributing to it for over 2 years now, and it's lacking features I need, or have major bugs in certain features. What are some good choices for 3D physics engines that are written purely in C#? Are there any that are more complete than JigLibX? EDIT: I just stumbled upon an engine called BEPUphysics. It was supported up until May 2012, which is fairly recent. I may check it out, any information that you guys could give on how complete the engine is would be great.

• Is C++11 Uniform Initialization a replacement for the old style syntax?

  I understand that C++11's uniform initialization solves some syntactical ambiguity in the language, but in a lot of Bjarne Stroustrup's presentations (particularly those during the GoingNative 2012 talks), his examples primarily use this syntax now whenever he is constructing objects. Is it recommended now to use uniform initialization in all cases? What should the general approach be for this new feature as far as coding style goes and general usage? What are some reasons to not use it? Note that in my mind I'm thinking primarily of object construction as my use case, but if there are other scenarios to consider please let me know.

• Is adding in the header the license type enough to say: "my code is licensed"?

  I read on various sites about licenses. I did just put the license type in the header file (in my case a javascript file, open-source): /* * "codeName" "version" * http://officialsite.com/ * * Copyright 2012 "codeName" * Released under the "LICENSE NAME" license * http://officialsite.com/LICENSE NAME */ javascript code ... In the same folder I leave a copy of the license. The listing of the folder looks like this: * codeName.js * LICENSE In the file LICENSE is the full text of the license my code uses. What I cannot find anywhere that says is this is enough to say my code is licensed (the case of open-source). Is something more required?

• Final steps in installing Matlab2012 on Ubuntu 12.04

  I have a problem with the MATLAB 2012 installation. After having installed it using alt+f2 and having used gksudo nautilus I have installed MATLAB in the correct folder which is: /usr/local/MATLAB/R2012a Then I inserted the license and the window told "activation complete" or something like that. This made me happy, but only for a while because as soon as I try to search for Matlab within the applications I cannot find it and neither if I try to run matlab into terminal it says: command not found Can someone help me!?   This being my first time going to TechEd and I want to make sure that I get the most out of it.  The first goal is to make sure that I get to the sessions that cover as many topics as possible.  This is important for me as a Solution Architect consultant specializing in Microsoft technologies.  To this end I have spent some time going through the sessions on the myTechEd site. The other reason for the trip is to connect with the Microsoft development community.  This includes both members of my local Midwest community and the global communities that I have only had online connections with.  Sharing the experience and getting a chance to exchange ideas with new and old friends is a great part of any convention.   Firefox aurait perdu 9 millions de téléchargements à cause de l'absence du Ballot Screen dans Windows 7 le navigateur baisse tandis qu'IE progresse NetApplications, le cabinet d'analyse du Web vient de publier son traditionnel classement mensuel des parts de marché des navigateurs. Le premier constat est que Firefox enregistre une légère baisse entre octobre et septembre de 0,09 point avec une part de 19,99%, qui lui permet de garder sa deuxième place. Le navigateur qui avait enregistré sur plusieurs mois des pertes semble se stabiliser. En effet, entre février 2011 et juillet 2012, Firefox a perdu plus de 3,7% de part de marché, passant de 23,72 % à moins de 20%.

• Wordpress does not create directories?

  First I will just tell you how my wordpress hierarchy looks like: /var/www has all of the wordpress files, which is different from how it is normally set up as /var/www/wordpress (symlinked to /usr/share/wordpress). So var/www contains all of the files that /usr/share/wordpress would have, and /usr/share/wordpress is symlinked to /var/www, with an extra /var/www/wordpress symlinked to /var/www to prevent possible compatibility issues. When uploading a file like a favicon or a .zip-ped theme, everything works fine, and when checking if the theme/favicon is uploaded, wordpress shows that it is, and points to a directory that it thinks that it had created, like http:/localhost/wp-content/uploads/2012/..., which it had not, because the uploads folder is empty! And so there is a broken link on the internet and the theme is displayed but it has just plain text (because it had reverted to a plain theme I think) Please help! I am sorry for such a long post but this is really quite a troublesome problem. I have chowned /var/www and /usr/share/wordpress to www-data.
