  Possible Duplicate: My server's been hacked EMERGENCY My Linux machine has been hacked lately. There are a few entires in /etc/inittab below the #end of /etc/inittab Something like: #Loading standard ttys 0:2345:once:/usr/sbin/ttyload I also have serveral of the following lines: 2:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty2 3:2345:respawn:/sbin/mingetty tty3 . . . I know that my /usr/sbin/ttyload has been hacked, and I have removed it, but I don't know if I need this is inittab, nor whether I had ttyload before. Is this file common? Should I remove this line?

  Is it possible to provide the following type of fuctionality with informix client tools? As the user types the first two characters of a name, the drop-down list is empty. At the third character, the list fills with just the names beginning with those three characters. At the fourth character, MS-Access completes the first matching name (assuming the combo's AutoExpand is on). Once enough characters are typed to identify the customer, the user tabs to the next field. The time taken to load the combo between keystrokes is minimal. This occurs once only for each entry, unless the user backspaces through the first three characters again. If your list still contains too many records, you can reduce them by another order of magnitude by changing the value of constant conSuburbMin from 3 to 4.

  Hello, and apologies if this is a duplicate - if you could point me in the direction of any existing answers, that would be great. I have a set of date ranges in Excel, each of which has some kind of label. e.g. LabelA 01/01/10 31/01/10 LabelB 01/02/10 28/02/10 LabelC 01/03/10 31/03/10 If I have another date, I would like to look up the label relating to the date range within which this date falls. e.g. For 15/02/10 I would like to return LabelB. I know that the date ranges will not overlap, although there could be a gap between the end date of one, and the start date of the next.

• How do I stop intellij from adding specific jars to the classpath when debugging?

  When I debug an application in intellij, it insists on including all the jars in side my jre/lib folder and sub folders. Unfortunately, one of the libraries I use manually loads each class on the classpath at startup to reduce loading times during operation. As a result, debugging my app immediately results in the process spinning at 100% and then eventually dying. If I take the command line intellij uses and remove the jars in the lib folder from the classpath, the application executes as expected. How do I make intellij not include the jre libs?

  Possible Duplicate: Is there a short cut command in Windows command prompt to get to the current users home directory like there is in Linux? Any short way to cd to the user specific directories in the command prompt. Like for e.g. in linux shell (debian based) we do a cd ~ and it instantly takes to the current logged user's directory /home/<username>. Anything to this effect on windows? ps: currently trying to do this on xp machines. If it differs for other machines, mention that too.

• How do I find the previous/default value of a radio button in JS?

  I'm not sure if this is even possible, but I figured I'd ask before clubbing togehter an ugly solution. What I have is a group of radio buttons and I want to trigger a function if the radio button value is changed. For example say there are three buttons X Y and Z with Y default selected. If a user clicks on an unselected button (i.e. X or Z) then the function gets triggered but if he/she clicks on Y (which is already selected) nothing happens. Naturally the best solution would be to fire the function on an onchange event but IE6 doesn't fire onchange until the focus is no longer on the element which is not satisfactory. So is there a way to know what the previous value of the radio button was or at least what its default value is? I could easily create an array of default values and check against that but I'm trying to reduce the overhead. Please no jQuery suggestions ;)

• Session Timeout and page response time

  Hi, I'm load testing an asp.net app. The load test is simulating 500 user doing searchs on the site and browsing the results. I'm observing that the more I reduce the session timeout limit (in web.config) the better the page response time. For exemple, with a timeout at 10 minutes, I got an average response time of 8.35 seconds. With a timout at 3 minutes, the average response time for the same page is 3,98 seconds. The session in stored "InProc". I supposed the memory used by the "no more used but still actives" sessions may be in cause. But, even if there is more memory used when the timeout is at 10, there is still plenty of memory available (about 2.7Gb). Any ideas?

It accesses SQLite database a lot. ARC option is enabled. I have many questions to ask: In .h files, I am defining IBOutlets like @property(nonatomic, retain) IBOutlet UIButton *bt; Where do i need to do bt=nil? in didReceiveMemoryWarning or viewDidLoad Live Bytes in Instruments tool is 4-5MB. Is it enough or I need to reduce memory usage? If so, how can I do so? Please mention few important points. The ability to bundle a few files together into one, and have it come out smaller than any of them, is something I just accept as a fact, but how does it actually work? I have a limited knowledge of it that includes something to do with replacing all the duplicate entries with pointers, to shrink that way, but beyond that I'm fairly clueless! • Can I use static routing to allow me to use my public IP from my LAN?

  I would like to be able to use the same hostname to connect to my computer from my phone whether I'm at home or away. Currently I have to maintain duplicate entries for remote desktop, for instance. My router doesn't seem to have a NAT loopback option. I have two routers in fact, a cable modem which goes straight to my main router which does wireless. I can add to the static routing tables on each. Can I use this to loopback the public IP or do I need different routers?

• Disabled annotation tools in Skim

  Here's a portion of the toolbar in Skim In the Add Note section, why are the following tools disabled (dimmed)? Add New Highlight (A in the yellow box) Add New Underline (red line under A) Add New Strike Out (A struck out by red line) However, in the Tool Mode section, there is a drop down button (shown as active in the screenshot). To illustrate, I can select and use the Add New Underline tool, as well as the other tools I mentioned above, using the drop down button. But those tools are dimmed out in the Add Note section. Why? I have observed that the drop down button is just a duplicate of the Add Note section. Why not just enable all the buttons in the Add Note section and save the user from making an extra click just to bring down a list of tools? Is this because of some property of the presently open PDF, or what?

• Windows 8: Multiple monitors with varying DPI? [closed]

  Possible Duplicate: Dual monitors on Windows - How do I set a different DPI or text size on each monitor? I'm running Windows 8 on my Macbook Pro Retina (220dpi) which has an external 24" monitor (~96 dpi). In Mac OS 10.8.2, the display settings seem ok and I can actually use both displays without usability issues. I don't know what scaling settings etc it uses but it looks fine. On Windows 8, however when I boost the DPI settings to take advantage of the retina display, it blows up the display on the external monitor - text is giant sized. How can I tell Windows 8 to use the real DPI settings of each monitor? NOTE: I'm not asking for Windows 7.

• Javascript large number array compression

  Hi All, I've got a javascript application that sends a large amount of numerical data down the wire. This data is then stored in a database. I am having size issues (too much bandwidth, database getting too big). I am now ready to sacrifice some performance for compression. I was thinking of implementing a base 62 number.toString(62) and parseInt(compressed, 62). This would certainly reduce the size of the data but before I go ahead and do this I thought I would put it to the folks here as I know there must be some outside the box solution I have not considered. The basic specs are: - Compress large number arrays into strings for JSONP transfer (So I think UTF is out) - Be relatively fast, look I'm not expecting same performance as I have now but I also don't want gzip compression either.   The language shortcut public string Code { get; set; } saves a bit of typing when defining trivial properties in C#. However, I find myself writing highly repetitive, not-quite-as-trivial property code that still follows a clear pattern e.g. public string Code { get { return code; } set { if (code != value) { code = value; NotifyPropertyChanged("Code"); } } } I can certainly define a Visual Studio snippet to reduce typing. However, if I need to add something to my pattern, I have to go back and change quite a bit of existing code. Is there a more elegant approach? Is a snippet the best way to go?

For example, the first 4 rows would look like: Average Difference # + Movements # -Movements 1 2 2 1 0 3 4 (2+5+5)/3 2 1 Blanks represent N/A values due to insufficient information, and differences are calculated successively i.e. col2-col1, col3-col2, col4-col3 If I just take the differences and make a duplicate table with the formula =C2-B2 copied across issues arise whenever there is a blank space between two values or at the beginning of the row. Is there an easy way to fix this or another way to do this that I might be missing?

• Visual C++ 9 Linker file size limitation.

  It appears that the visual C++ 9 linker has a file allocation algorithm that doubles the size of the file every allocation, so you get 512mb, 1024mb, 2048mb, 4096mb. The problem is that it is using a library that cannot handle files larger 2048MB, and as such crashes with an error such as "cannot read file at is the disk full or write protected". Is there a way to bypass this limitation or otherwise replace the linker with something else that works? A bit of background, I have a code generator that generates a large number of files, ~15k cpp files, I've managed to reduce the number of files to something about 6k to get something that at least completes the linking process, I would like to be able to include all 15k without having to create multiple libs.

What tools then exist to make the recovery of data from said drives difficult to the extent that selling them could be justified? Another way of saying this would be: what tools/method exist for making the attempts at recovery of any data previously stored on a certain drive impractical? I assume that it is always possible to recover data from a drive that is in working order. I assume also there are some methods for preventing recovery of data due a program called dban, and one particular feature in macOSX that deals with permanently deleting data from a disk.

  I want to change how my UI elements display, so I am overriding onDraw. The following code allows me to change a View to be drawn using PorterDuff.Mode.DARKEN. Unfortunately, this method involves creating a bitmap the size of the entire screen, then drawing to it then drawing this large bitmap the main screen again, for each UI element. This isn't at all efficient. • Update 2 table values in one query in LINQ

  Hello, I have 2 tables Table1 with columns [BId,Name,Amount] Table2 with columns [CId,BId, ExpenseType,Expense]. BId Is the foreign key in Table2. The Amount field in Table1 is always higher than Expense in Table2. I need to update the values of Amount (increase or decrease) based on value of Expense and I want to do it in single query in LINQ. Eg If the Expense has to be updated with 200, I would decrease(negate) Amount value with 200. If Expense is reduce to 100 then the Amount is increased by a value of 100. • Can an ESX server under heavy load cause cpu spikes on guest VM's?

  So we have a number of vm's running on an ESX 4.1 server for product testing. The ESX Server is at times under heavy load. We've been experiencing high CPU levels during some use cases, but we can't always duplicate this. If the ESX server as a whole is under heavy load could this cause guest machines to show high CPU usage? To ask it a different way, if the guest machines require more cpu resources than the server has, how does this affect CPU usage as indicated by the OS and process?

And some Programs I'm always opening on the second screen (which windows does automatically). But now the problem: When the screens aren't connected (when I'm at home), some programs still open on the second screen (which does not exist anymore) and it's just not possible to move them to the main (only!) screen!   I want to ?reduce? the CPU usage/ROM usage/RAM usage - generally?, all system resources that my app uses - who doesn't? :) For this reason I want to split the preferences window from the rest of the application, and let the preferences window to run as ?independent? program. The preferences program ?should? write to a Property file(not a problem at all) and to send a "update signal" to the main program - which means it should call the update method (that i wrote) that found in the Main class. How can I call the update method in the Main program from the preferences program? To put it another way, is a way to build preferences window that take system resources just when the window appears? Is this approach - of separating programs and let them talk to each other (somehow) - the right approach for speeding up my programs?

I am using visual studio 2005. the solution contains lots of projects, 34 projects in all, and the start up projects depends on others. then in linking part, it'll wait a long time before the real linking starts. The latest php version is indeed installed in /usr/local/bin The problem is that my $PATH variable is the following (doing an echo $PATH reveals it) : /usr/local/mysql/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/opt/X11/bin ...so the old version of php (that comes with mountain lion) always run first Any ideas on how to solve this?
