  • Import files directly to SVN repo without checking out first

    Hi, I am using SVN and have a repository on a remote machine. Sometimes, when working on my local machine I realize that I need to add some new files to the repo. The usual procedure I know would then be: 1- at the current folder on my local machine checkout the whole SVN repo 2- enter there 3- copy the interesting file here 4- commit But this can be a bit tedious. I wonder if somehow, I can omit steps 1 to 3 and import the "interesting" file to SVN directly without necessity of checking out the repo first. Thanks

    I am running several sites in several different languages off of single instance of magneto. There are two main styles Site 1 Site 2 Each site has some cusomtimizations based on language So each shop view has an some templates defined Site 2 - DE Site 2 - UK Now the problem is that when I apply a product level design, it forget's about the language level definition and skips back to the main definition. I want it to work like this Site 2 Site 2 DE Product Style But Instead it seems to work like this Site 2 Site 2 DE Product Style Where Site 2 DE is not ignored because a custom product style has been defined. How can I get the first hierarchy to work? So that my product styles do not override the language styles completely.

  • What is the "right" way to make a modular ASP.NET page?

    Hi, I'm writing an internal program using ASP.NET (Visual Studio 2008). The basic premise is that folks will connect to the page through their web browser, put in some data (which will be validated and sanitized of course), click "submit" and then a query will be run on a database. I told you that story so I can tell you this story - I want to make my program modular for the likelihood that this program will be updated later on, and probably extended. My initial thought is to compile the database handler as a dll and then use its functionality on my page (see my little diagram). But I can't figure out how to hook the dll into my page - My Google-fu has failed which leads me to my questions: 1) Is creating a dll the "right" solution? If so, continue to question 2, if not, what should I be doing? Any resources/tutorial links would be appreciated. 2) How do I attach a dll? Visual Studio tells me I can't Imports from an .aspx page, and I've tried <%@ Import namespace="MyDllName" % and a few other variations, none of which worked. Thanks!

    This question is, as indicated, for those who use Emacs. When you do, do you rebind the caps-lock key to CTRL, or do you use the "normal" ctrl key? I've recently learned some Emacs commands and was using the Visual Studio 2008 emacs commands for a while, and of course I used a caps-rebind tool, but I'm curious how many other people do. On a side note, the emacs bindings for VS are severely incomplete :(

    Hi, in a C++ program some string reads info from file, and in some part contains a "\r" character. I need to remove it, afte the read, in order to avoid problems. I thought about comparing strings character to character, I thought that "\r" would take two chars, but not, it is just one. how would i use a conditional ? if char[4]==`\r' ??? Thanks P.D.     Hi, I am using GDB to understand a C++ program. I put a break in the middle of the running which turns to be something like: break main.cpp:500 and I would like to see which functions have been called before. I tried "backtrace" but it shows only info about main, as previous calls to previous functions have already finished. My question is how can I get (with GDB or another method) the info about which functions have been called before this point, even if the call has been returned. Thanks

    Hi, in C++, using printf I want to print a sequence of number, so I get, from a "for" loop; 1 2 ... 9 10 11 and I create files from those numbers. But when I list them using "ls" I get 10 11 1 2 .. so instead of trying to solve the problem using bash, I wonder how could I print; 0001 0002 ... 0009 0010 0011 and so on Thanks

    Hi, I am writing a C++ number crunching application, where the bottleneck is a function that has to calculate for double: template<class T> inline T sqr(const T& x){return x*x;} and another one that calculates Base dist2(const Point& p) const { return sqr(x-p.x) + sqr(y-p.y) + sqr(z-p.z); } These operations take 80% of the computation time. I wonder if you can suggest approaches to make it faster, even if there is some sort of accuracy loss Thanks

    Hi, I am interested in getting the profiling of some number crunching program. I compiled it with -g and -pg options and linked it and got it gmon.out. After reading the info (plain text) it looks a bit ugly. I wonder if there are some open source tools for getting a graphical representation of the 10 functions where the program spends the most of the time as well as a flux diagram. Thanks

I would like to extract for a specific TAG, (i.e. TAG54) its individual "substructure", which would be SET TAG54 ... ... SET Each substructure, for a given TAG_i contains always: first line:SET second line:TAG_i (in this case TAG54) an arbitrary number of lines last line:SET I wonder what would be the best way to do this, whether in bash or python, so for a given TAG, one can "extract" this substructure.     Hi, I have around 20000 files coming from the output of some program, and their names follow the format: data1.txt data2.txt ... data99.txt data100.txt ... data999.txt data1000.txt ... data20000.txt I would like to write a script that gets as input argument the number N. Then it makes blocks of N concatenated files, so if N=5, it would make the following new files: data_new_1.txt: it would contain (concatenated) data1.txt to data5.txt (like cat data1.txt data2.txt ... data_new_1.txt ) data_new_2.txt: it would contain (concatenated) data6.txt to data10.txt ..... I wonder what do you think would be the best approach to do this, whether bash, python or another one like awk, perl, etc. The best approach I mean in terms of simplest code. Thanks

    Hi, in a C++ program, there is a point when it reads a string like: "NONAME_1_1\r" the \r is causing me trouble. I guess it prints or adds something like "^M". Is it right? Anyway it casues me problem, and I want to get rid of it. I can not modify the input. I wonder how could I at this point, using C++, and in the easiest way, to remove \r for this string. I know how to do it on bash but no clue on C++. Thanks.
