  • Is the location of SSH keys on Windows fixed?

    I read an article: Determine whether you've already generated SSH keys which says that ssh in Windows, keys are in C:\Documents and Settings\userName\Application Data\SSH\UserKeys\ but I have found the keys to be in C:\Documents and Settings\userName\Application Data.SSH . Is there a setting to determine where to put these keys or am I reading the wrong documentation or what?

    When explicitly specifying identity file to ssh: ssh -i ./id_rsa ... I have these lines in ssh debug trace: debug1: Offering public key: ./id_rsa debug3: send_pubkey_test debug2: we sent a publickey packet, wait for reply Does it mean ssh-generated id_rsa contains public RSA exponent as well, or ssh is sending out my private key? (which, of course, does not make sense). id_rsa format seems to be rather explicit that it contains private key with its "BEGIN PRIVATE KEY" block.

  • LXC container can only access host via bridge

    I have an LXC container with i686 Ubuntu 12.04 running on a x86_64 Ubuntu 12.04 host. I've set up a bridge using instructions here. However the ping from the container only goes through to the host and not to other machines on the local network. Similarly only the host and not the other machines see the container OS. The host's /etc/network/interfaces file looks as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loopback iface eth0 inet manual auto br0 iface br0 inet dhcp bridge_ports eth0 bridge_fd 0 bridge_maxwait 0 The container's /etc/network/interfaces file looks as follows: auto lo iface lo inet loopback auto eth0 iface eth0 inet dhcp And here's the relevant part of the container's config: lxc.network.type=veth lxc.network.link=br0 lxc.network.flags=up Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?     Can you see what I'm doing wrong? On Ubuntu Server 9.1, I'm attempting to allow traffic on port 1143 for a non-privileged IMAP host. Connection is refused when testing with telnet example.com 1143 but connection is allowed testing with telnet example.com 80 from my pc to remote internet hosted server. Both rules appear identical and are located near each other with no rules rejecting connections intervening in the rules file.   • How can make rsync use sudo

    I use rsync to mirror a number of folders on our failover server. However, some of our files, such as thumbnails or full-text indexes, are generated by our applications under the web user (named 'nobody'), and default to restrictive permissions. Also, I'm doing this over ssh, where root access is disabled, and I'd like to keep it that way, if possible. Is there any reasonable way I can tell rsync to run as sudo? Or should I look into changing the file permissions? Thanks

    Very slow processing using Windows Server2008 R2 Standard with Service Pack One. Situation: Read a text file using the text data to populate a series of MS Sql tables. The converted data is used to generate monthly PDF invoice files; the PDF files are saved directly to the hard drive. The application is multi-threading with one thread used for the text conversion and three threads for PDF invoice generation. The text conversion is occurring concurrently with the invoice generation. Application Software: C# using Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate. Crystal Report Writer 2011 with runtime 13_0_3 64 bit version. Targeted platform is x64; also tested as x86, and Any CPU with similar results. Microsoft .NET Framework 4.0. Microsoft Sql 2008 Issue: The software is running very slowly. The conversion of the text file is approximately six hundred fifty records per second and generation of the PDF files is approximately twelve invoices per minute. The text file to be converted is six hundred Meg with seven thousand invoices to be generated. The software was installed on three different machines from the same distribution files. The same text file was converted on each machine. The user executing the application was an administrator on each machine. The only variances were the machine and operating system. For all production servers, the public-private key pair has been generated for the same user and then exported to the backup server for allowing ssh authentication without human intervention.     I'm interested in installing a custom driver / device that will open a socket (or listen) and stream audio via TCP/IP in both Windows and Linux. I would like to be able to specify this device as my "Output" for specific applications so that I can route my audio through a completely unique machine (for example, in complex Synergy setups where my headphones might be connected to one machine, but audio is being generated by another.) In Linux, I expect this to be very easy, but I anticipate having to install a custom driver in Windows.

    I'm using a startup script to deploy Microsoft Office 2007 Standard. It's not working quite right and I'm trying to find logging information for it. Unfortunately, no log is being generated by setup. I've tried configuring the log at %temp%\, C:\, %systemroot%\temp and leaving it at defaults, all to no avail. Nothing is showing up in the event logs, either. Is there anywhere else I can go to look for information on what's going on with the installer?

    I often come into the following situation: Get an email with attachment in MS Outlook Open that attachment in MS Word Starting to edit the document in MS Word Start replying to the email in MS Outlook Getting the edited document into my reply I have to save that file to disk and then drag it as attachment. I would think of a short way to get that document as attachement in the newly generated email. Is there a way to implement a save location as clipboard or just a copy to clipboard (the document, not the content)?

    I have a 6in4 ipv6 connection from a linux box to a broker. I use gogoc to establish the connection to the broker, and radvd to advertise the route to clients on the network. All this appears to work, the problem is that I have a Windows 7 machine on the same network, and it is advertising itself as a ipv6 router. Which it is not. Update: The IP Helper service (Provides tunnel connectivity using IPv6 transition technologies (6to4, ISATAP, Port Proxy, and Teredo), and IP-HTTPS. If this service is stopped, the computer will not have the enhanced connectivity benefits that these technologies offer.) seems to be the culprit, as if it is stopped, I don't get the routes advertised. So my question is now more specifically "why is IP Helper announcing routes?".

  • .bat script doesn't work by using window scheduler

    i created a .bat script to perform daily folder compression. it is working fine when i double click the .bat file. However, it doesnt work when i include it in window scheduler.
