  • avoiding console window display when scheduled task runs batch file

    - by cherouvim
I have a small batch file which xcopies some files from one folder to another which I've scheduled (via windows scheduled tasks) to run every 1 hour: @echo off xcopy c:\foo c:\bar /E /C /F /Y Since this is my workstation, I'm most probably doing work when the task executes, and then the black dos console window is displayed (lasts 2-3 seconds) and steals window focus. I don't wish to see the files copied and of course the batch file does not ask for any user input. Is there a way to avoid displaying the console completely?

  • Nginx - basic http authentication on PHP-script

    - by half_bit
    I added a PHP-Script that serves as "cgi-bin", Configuration: location ~^/cgi-bin/.*\.(cgi|pl|py|rb) { gzip off; fastcgi_pass 127.0.0.1:9000; fastcgi_index cgi-bin.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_FILENAME /etc/nginx/cgi-bin.php; fastcgi_param SCRIPT_NAME /cgi-bin/cgi-bin.php; fastcgi_param X_SCRIPT_FILENAME /usr/lib/$fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_param X_SCRIPT_NAME $fastcgi_script_name; fastcgi_param QUERY_STRING $query_string; fastcgi_param REQUEST_METHOD $request_method; fastcgi_param CONTENT_TYPE $content_type; fastcgi_param CONTENT_LENGTH $content_length; fastcgi_param GATEWAY_INTERFACE CGI/1.1; fastcgi_param SERVER_SOFTWARE nginx; fastcgi_param REQUEST_URI $request_uri; fastcgi_param DOCUMENT_URI $document_uri; fastcgi_param DOCUMENT_ROOT $document_root; fastcgi_param SERVER_PROTOCOL $server_protocol; fastcgi_param REMOTE_ADDR $remote_addr; fastcgi_param REMOTE_PORT $remote_port; fastcgi_param SERVER_ADDR $server_addr; fastcgi_param SERVER_PORT $server_port; fastcgi_param SERVER_NAME $server_name; fastcgi_param REMOTE_USER $remote_user; } PHP-Script: <?php $descriptorspec = array( 0 => array("pipe", "r"), // stdin is a pipe that the child will read from 1 => array("pipe", "w"), // stdout is a pipe that the child will write to 2 => array("pipe", "w") // stderr is a file to write to ); $newenv = $_SERVER; $newenv["SCRIPT_FILENAME"] = $_SERVER["X_SCRIPT_FILENAME"]; $newenv["SCRIPT_NAME"] = $_SERVER["X_SCRIPT_NAME"]; if (is_executable($_SERVER["X_SCRIPT_FILENAME"])) { $process = proc_open($_SERVER["X_SCRIPT_FILENAME"], $descriptorspec, $pipes, NULL, $newenv); if (is_resource($process)) { fclose($pipes[0]); $head = fgets($pipes[1]); while (strcmp($head, "\n")) { header($head); $head = fgets($pipes[1]); } fpassthru($pipes[1]); fclose($pipes[1]); fclose($pipes[2]); $return_value = proc_close($process); } else { header("Status: 500 Internal Server Error"); echo("Internal Server Error"); } } else { header("Status: 404 Page Not Found"); echo("Page Not Found"); } ?> The problem with it thought is that I cannot add basic authentication. As soon as I enable it for location ~/cgi-bin it gives me a 404 error when I try to look it up. How can I solve this? I thought about restricting access to only my second server where I then add basic authentication over a proxy, but there must be a simpler solution. Sorry for the bad title, I couldn't think of a better one.

  • Find if IP Address is in use

    - by WedTM
I'm trying to find if an IP address is in use. I don't want to rely on ping, as most of our hosts have ICMP echo and reply turned off. I'm looking for something that mimics window's "IP Address Conflict" detection. (How does this mechanism do it?)

  • Use /etc/aliases to send to a mailing-list using sendmail

    - by Pixoo
I'm trying to configure my Debian (6.0) server to forward emails sent to root to a mailing-list. I set the ML address in /etc/aliases this way: root: [email protected] I then called newaliases. It doesn't work but when I call mail from the command line it works :/ echo "test" | mail -s"test message" [email protected] If I set my own email address in /etc/aliases it's working too. Any idea where it could come from ? Thanks

  • Windows 7 batch files: How to write string to text file without carriage return AND trailing space?

    - by oscilatingcretin
I am trying to have my batch file write a string of text to a text file. At first, the command I was using was writing an extra carriage return to the end of the string, but I found this command that prevented that: echo|set /p=hello>hello.txt However, now it's putting a trailing space at the end. I need only the string I specify to be written without any extra characters. Is this possible?

  • ssh, "Last Login", `last` and OS X

    - by allentown
I have hit the googles as much as I can on this, being specific to OS X, I am not finding an answer. Nothing is wrong, but curiosity levels are high. $ssh [email protected] Password: Last login: Wed Apr 7 21:28:03 2010 from my-laptop.local ^lonely tylenol^ Line 1 is my command line 2 is the shell asking for the password line 3 is where my question comes from line 4 comes out of /etc/motd I can find nothing in ~/ of an of the .bash* files that contains the string "Last Login", and would like to alter it. It performs some type of hostname lookup, which I can not determine. If I ssh to another host: $ssh [email protected] Last login: Wed Apr 7 21:14:51 2010 from 123-234-321-123-some.cal.isp.net.example hi there, you are on box 456 line 1 is my command line 2 is again, where my question comes from line 3 is from /etc/motd *The dash'd IP address is not reversed On this remote host, I have ~/.ssh and it's corresponding keys set up, so there was no password request Where is the "Last Login:" coming from, where does the date stamp come from, and most importantly, where does the hostname come from? While on [email protected] (box 456) $echo hostname remote.location.example456.com Or with dig, to make sure I have rDNS/PTR set up, for which I am not authoritative, but my ISP has correctly set... $dig -x 123.234.321.123 PTR remote.location.example456.com or $dig PTR 123.321.234.123.in-addr.arpa. +short remote.location.example456.com. my previous hostname used to be 123-234-321-123-some.cal.isp.net.example, which I set with hostname -s remote.location.example456.com, because it was obnoxious to see such a long name. That solves the value of $echo hostname which now returns remote.location.example456.com. Mac OS X, 10.6 is this case, does seem to honor: touch ~/.hushlogin If leave that file empty, I get nothing on the shell when I login. I want to know what controls the host resolution of the IP, and how it is all working. For example, running last reports a huge list of my logins, which have obtusely long hostnames, when they would be preferable to just be remote.location.example456.com. More confusing to me, reading the man page for wtmp and lastlog, it looks like lastlog is not used on OS X, /var/log/lastlog does not exist. Actually, none of these exist on 10.5 or 10.6: /var/run/utmp The utmp file. /var/log/wtmp The wtmp file. /var/log/lastlog The lastlog file. If I am to assume that the system is doing some kind of reverse lookup, I certainly do not know what it is, as it is not an accurate one.

  • Delete set of files using find command

    - by Dave Jarvis
Background Delete a set of files, scattered across different directories. Problem The following code does not work (the unescaped | causes issues); for %i in (dir /s/b | find "lock") do echo del %i Question Without writing a batch file, how would you delete all files named "lock" (i.e., found using the find command) within the current directory and all subdirectories (including hidden directories)? Thank you!

  • How to match against multiple value possiblities in Excel

    - by Henno
I have list of person names in column A. I want to display "1" in column B for names which end with either "e" or "i" or "n". If there would be only one match to test against, I would write something like: =IF( MID(A1,FIND(" ",B1)-1,1) = "e", "1", "0") In PHP I would solve that like this: echo in_array( $names[$row_number], array('e', 'i', 'n') ) ? '1' : '0'; What formula should I use in column B in Excel?

  • About memory cache of Linux

    - by cheneydeng
I'm running a python script to do some statistics and the actually memory which used is low, about 10%.And no other process cost more memory. However, when i use free -m and it shows that almost 95% memory has been used. The point is that my script should do a lot of read from files,so i wonder if there's any mechanism of Linux memory cache that caused the problem?echo 1 >> /proc/sys/vm/drop_caches works, but it seems manually. How can i reduce the memory cost and doesn't make a bad effect on reading files?

I have a text file with a list of server names (servers.txt) that looks something like this: server1 server2 server3 I have a feeling this can be done with the FOR command as I use that to perform an action on each name in the file, but I'm not quite sure how to use the delimiters to accomplish this. for /F "tokens=*" %%G in (servers.txt) do ( SET machinenum = <magic here> ECHO %machinenum% ) expected output 01 02 03

  • Help turning off TLS in Qmail

    - by user22492
How do you turn off STARTTLS in Qmail (running on RH)? I initially installed the forcetls patch, but have since needed to use fixcrio which doesn't work with TLS (plus I don't need TLS for my setup anyway). I've tried a few different things, such as: echo 0 /var/qmail/control/smtpforcetls & adding DENY_TLS=1; export DENY_TLS to my /var/qmail/supervise/qmail-smtpd/run file and none of them have worked. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Client unable to reach Internet through OpenVPN

    - by Carroarmato0
The clients can all connect through OpenVPN. OpenVPN serves the following pool: server 10.8.0.0 255.255.255.0 I've configured the server's iptable with the following rule: iptables -t nat -A POSTROUTING -s 10.8.0.0/24 -o eth0 -j MASQUERADE and echo 1 /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward This used to work back on the old vps I used. Now I've migrated to a vps which has ipv6 connectivity. Is it possible that Ipv6 has something to do with the fact that the clients can't reach the internet?

I added this in .bash_profile echo 'ALERT - Root Shell Access on:' `date` `who` | mail -s "Alert: Root Access from `who | awk '{print $6}'`" [email protected]
