  • Using Windows XP Mode Virtual Machine on a Domain

    I've followed the instructions and installed and configured the Windows Virtual PC XP Mode. I've added it as a machine on the network and can log into it and use network resources. In the process I removed the saved credentials, which are just a default local login to the VM. I need to know how to set this so that the VM auto logs in with the domain account credentials used to log into the physical computer. Google hasn't helped me find the answer.

  • Tons Of rpc.idmapd errors in syslog

    I am growing weary of some error messages in my syslog - its showing: Jul 3 15:16:38 web rpc.idmapd[14535]: nss_getpwnam: name 'nobody' does not map into domain 'mydomain.com' I have check, my hostname is correct as mydomain.com and I even added a valid entry in /etc/hostname . I have edited my /etc/idmapd.conf to reflect this domain name, this error message log every 10minutes and its becoming frustrating, I do not know why or whats causing it, the nfs server is working ok, with correct entries and now message in the log. I am using centos6 -- Ofcoure, i have substituted mydomain.com with my real domain

    I'm not able to run a PHP enabled web site under Apache on Windows XP if the path to DOCUMENT_ROOT contains accented letters. I'm not referring to the script file names themselves but to any folder in the path components.   • Server 2012, ADFS 2.1, and Office 365

    Has anyone gotten ADFS 2.1 on Server 2012 working with o365 SSO? I have it working up to a point, I tweaked the registry to allow the powershell commands to run, user accounts syncs fine. Even the remote connectivity analyzer shows no errors. But SSO itself does not seem to be passing the credentials correctly. Microsoft claims that ADFS 2.1 is not supported to work with o365, but I'm just being stubborn and not giving up that easy.

  • iCloud stuff stops working while connected to OpenVPN [closed]

    I have a fairly simple OpenVPN setup on an OpenVZ VPS with Ubuntu 11.10. Client is the Viscosity client on Mac OS X 10.8.2, and after some testing, we can rule out the client as being part of the problem. Everything has been working fine except for Apple's iCloud stuff. Web surfing, email, FTP, NNTP, and Skype are all working as expected. It's ONLY the iCloud services that cease to function. If I connect to the VPN, iCloud stuff stops working. I no longer get anything in Messages, Calendar items don't get updated, and Notifications stop working. If I disconnect, the iCloud stuff all starts working. Connect again, iCloud stops working. I have Googled extensively for this, and can find nothing that is related. Help me get iCloud stuff working again!

  • Logging in as the same user multiple times in Remote Desktop Windows Server 2008

    Quick question: I have a situation where I need to let multiple people on different PCs log into one server 2008 machine as administrator simultaneously over remote desktop. I have the CALs for it, it's just not set up correctly. When one user tries to log in, it boots the other out. What I need is to present to them a different session, just each as logged in as admin.     I'm trying to capture all of the traffic to and from an Apache2 web server for troubleshooting purposes, so I did the following to try to set mod_dumpio up properly: Used a2enmod to enable mod_dumpio Changed LogLevel to "debug" in apache2.config Added "DumpIOInput On", "DumpIOOutput On" and "DumpIOLogLevel debug" to apache2.config Issued "/etc/init.d/apache2 restart" to restart Apache Issued "apache2ctl -t -D DUMP_MODULES" to make sure mod_dumpio was loaded I'm watching /var/log/apache2/error.log, but not seeing much there, and certainly not a dump of all input and output. Can anyone help?

    I have a Canon PIXMA MX700 connected by ethernet. When I first bought it I was using OS X 10.4, and scanner-initiated scanning worked fine. After upgrading to 10.6, neither scanner-initiated or scanning from MP Navigator EX works with the firewall enabled. The firewall lists exceptions for three applications: Canon IJ Network Scan Utility.app Canon IJ Network Scanner Selector.app MP Navigator EX 1.0.app I get no further blocked warnings, and /var/log/appfirewall.log lists nothing for today (my latest attempt to use it).

    If a Red Hat or other Linux host has a conflict with an IP address, is there a way to have it display a warning message on the console or in a log, like Windows and MacOS do? i.e. my computer has an IP address configured (or received from a DHCP server) but finds another device on the network using the assigned address. Will it log the conflict?

  • I disconnected my cellphone while transferring files to its Mini SD card. Now the files aren't there

    I use Ubuntu 9.10, and the MiniSD card shows as having the space used as if there were files. Baobab (the disk usage analyzer) shows that the card only has 118 MB used (of the 401 Ubuntu claims there are). Of course, I already tried the obvious (rebooting the phone, adding and removing files, etc.), but I don't want to format my card, because I still have some files on it, the transfer to my computer is slow, and because I use an old wire it fails often.

I've noticed my server (lamp set up) being slow at times, but by the time I log in as root and run a PS command, everything may have returned to normal.   • Best way to handle PHP sessions across Apache vhost wildcard domains

    I'm currently running a site that allows users to use custom domains (i.e. so instead of mysite.com/myaccount, they could have myaccount.com). They just change the A record of their domain and we then use a wildcard vhost on Apache to catch the requests from the custom domains. The setup is basically as seen below. The first vhost catches the mysite.com/myaccount requests and the second would be used for myaccount.com. As you can see, they have the exact same path and php cookie_domain. I've noticed some weird behavior surrounding the line below "#The line below me". When active, the custom domains get a new session_id every page load (that isn't the same as the non-custom domain session). However, when I comment that line out, the user keeps the same session_id on each page load, but that session_id is not the same as the one they'd see on a non-custom domain site either despite being completely on the same server. There is a sort of "hack" workaround involving redirecting the user to mysite.com/myaccount, getting the session ID, redirecting back to myaccount.com, and then using that ID on the myaccount.com. But that can get kind of messy (i.e. if the user logs out of mysite.com/myaccount, how does myaccount.com know?). For what it's worth, I'm using a database to manage the sessions (i.e. so there's no issues with being on different servers, etc, but that's irrelevant since we only use one server to handle all requests currently anyways). I'm fairly certain it is related to some sort of CSRF browser protection thing, but shouldn't it be smart enough to know it's on the same server?   • Unable to mount device on Linux (XFS)

    I am unable to mount a device on my server due to error when mounting, the device is type XFS. The mount command returns message: "mount: structure needs cleaning" I've tried using xfs_check and it just returns a message saying that there are entries in the log that need relaying and that you need to run xfs_repair -L where "-L" option deletes the log file but might/will result in data loss/corruption. Does anyone know if you can access/mount the drive without repairing, or anyway to minimise data loss?
