  • Automatically hide toolbar when it is not in use.

    - by Koning WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
I am creating a Cocoa Application for Mac OS 10.6 , and I want to hide the toolbar of an NSWindow automatically when it is not in use for at least 30 seconds. I think this can be done with NSTimers, but I'm not familiar with them and I don't know how I can implement this. Another problem is that both the NSToolbarDelegate and NSWindowDelegate protocols don't have delegate methods like toolbarDidShow: Can anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks. PS. This is not to punish the user, but rather give the user a cleaner window (the window consist of only a toolbar for color and font and a text-view). PPS. Can the hide-toolbar-animation lead into a problem with the cursor while the user is typing?

  • "out of scope" error when iterating an NSMutableArray

    - by wgpubs
Why am I getting an "out of scope" error whenever I try to access the "url" variable in this loop? for(NSString *url in self.winnerImageURLs) { [mediaItemString appendFormat:@"{\"type\":\"image\",\"src\":\"%@\",\"href\":\"%@\"},", url, url]; } The class of very item in the "self.winnerImageURLs" NSMutableArray comes back as NSCFString so I'm not sure what the dealio is here. Any ideas on what I'm doing wrong??? Thanks

  • NSSegmentedControl -selectedSegment always returns 0

    - by SphereCat1
I have an NSSegmentedControl with two segments set to "Select None" mode in Interface Builder. No matter what I try, I can't get -selectedSegment to return anything but 0, even though segment 0 is even disabled by default and can't possibly be selected. Here's the relevant function that gets called when you click any segment on the control: -(IBAction)changeStep:(id)sender { [stepContainer setHidden:TRUE]; [(NSView *)[[wizard stepArray] objectAtIndex:(NSInteger)[wizard step]] removeFromSuperview]; switch ([[navigationButton cell] selectedSegment]) { case 0: [wizard setStep:(NSInteger *)[wizard step]-1]; break; case 1: [wizard setStep:(NSInteger *)[wizard step]+1]; break; default: break; } //[[navigationButton cell] setSelected:FALSE forSegment:[navigationButton selectedSegment]]; if ([wizard step] > 0) { [wizard setStep:0]; [navigationButton setEnabled:FALSE forSegment:0]; } NSLog(@"%d", [wizard step]); [stepContainer addSubview:(NSView *)[[wizard stepArray] objectAtIndex:(NSInteger)[wizard step]]]; [stepContainer setHidden:FALSE withFade:TRUE]; } I've also tried using -isSelectedForSegment, but it has the same result. Any help you can provide would be awesome, I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. Thanks! SphereCat1

  • Disable ARC with Xcode 5

    - by user2187565
First, sorry for my bad english, I'm french and had 15years old but StackOverFlow is for me the best forum for developers. So, in the previous versions of Xcode, we can disable ARC (Automatic Reference Counting) in the project settings when we create the project. Not now with Xcode 5 and ARC to pose me a problem: with an property list file, for the reading step, Xcode send me an error: "implicit conversion of 'int' to 'id' is disallowed with ARC". I had not the problem with the same code with Xcode 4. In my property list file, The keys are numbers and also in my viewController.m . NIKOS M.: No problem, but I don't see how I can add compiler flag with the 5th version of Xcode. The code (with french string...): NSString *error; NSString *rootPath = [NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *plistPath = [rootPath stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"Save.plist"]; NSArray *keys = [NSArray arrayWithObjects:@"valeurCompteur1", @"valeurCompteur2", @"valeurCompteur3", @"valeurCompteur4", @"valeurCompteur5", @"nomCompteur1", @"nomCompteur2", @"nomCompteur3", @"nomCompteur4", @"nomCompteur5", nil]; NSArray *objs = [NSArray arrayWithObjects: compteur1, compteur2, compteur3, compteur4, compteur5, nameC1, nameC2, nameC3, nameC4, nameC5, nil]; REVIEW: When I disallow ARC for the target, an warning persist. How I can resolve that please ? Thank you very much.

  • How to have Xcode find the newest version of a file

    - by Arian
    Currently I have a SQLite database, that is set statically to use database01.sqlite... but what I need is a way to have the file path find the newest version of the database file that exists. For example: If a database file of database04.sqlite is available, it should use that one instead. Below is my current code: NSString *databaseDirectory = [NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) objectAtIndex:0]; NSString *filePath = [databaseDirectory stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"database01.sqlite"];

  • Using NSUserDefaults to load data depending on which table view cell is pressed

    - by Bad_APPZ
I want my app to work just like the 'contacts' app on iOS. When a user selects a certain TableViewCell, i want to load certain data. No Matter which cell is pressed, Either "Joseph, Richard, or Shannon", This view comes up: Both of the views look the exact same, but they just display different information. So i guess my question is: How can I programmatically set a key @"cell1" @"cell2", etc... for each cell using NSUserDefaults? But here is the catch, I dont know how many cells will be added, so i cant hard code this, How can I create a key for each table view cell for how ever many is added? Thanks for the help!

  • dismissViewControllerAnimated completion block presenter view and modal view flow

    - by Patricia LaRue
I did find an answer to this title and I did do a little research but I'm still not getting the flow. Here is what I want to happen: 1) click a button on the presenter view to open a modal view. 2) retrieve some value and click a button to close the modal view....sending the value to the presentor view and execute a method. I get that this works like a callback but I still can't figure out where to put the callback stuff. So, how exactly do I do this? A) In the presentViewController completion block, should I include the presenter view method to execute when modal view is completed? Or: B) In the modal view's dismissViewControllerAnimated completion block, should I include the presenter view method to execute when modal view is completed? Can somebody help me with some sample code? Or at least help me get the flow of which block to put the code in? Thank you, P

  • self.window.rootViewController vs window addSubview

    - by Gazzer
I've noticed a lot of examples for iPhone apps in the Application Delegate - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application have [window addSubview: someController.view]; (1) as opposed to self.window.rootViewController = self.someController; (2) Is there any practical reason to use one over the other? Is one technically correct? Do controller's have the an equivalent command to number (2) like self.someController.rootController = self.someOtherController; // pseudocode

  • How to access files in interior of an iPhone App?

    - by mxg
Hi everyone! I need in a iPhone app to access files that the app is build with(.plist etc). There's an hardcoded way to do this: NSString *appDir = [[[NSSearchPathForDirectoriesInDomains(NSDocumentDirectory, NSUserDomainMask, YES) objectAtIndex:0] stringByDeletingLastPathComponent] stringByAppendingPathComponent:appFolder]; where appFolder is the name of folder app, like "test.app". After the appDir is known, to access files is simple. Is there any other, not-hardcoded way to have access to files form the app? Thanks in Advance!

Here is what I have [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%8@: %.6f",e,v] where e is an NSString from somewhere else, and v is a float. What I want is output something like this: Grapes: 20.3 Pomegranates: 2.5 Oranges: 15.1 What I get is Grapes:20.3 Pomegranates:2.5 Oranges:15.1 How can I fix my format to do something like this?

  • Modify audio pitch of recorded clip (m4v)

    - by devcube
I'm writing an app in which I'm trying to change the pitch of the audio when I'm recording a movie (.m4v). Or by modifying the audio pitch of the movie afterwards. I want the end result to be a movie (.m4v) that has the original length (i.e. same visual as original) but with modified sound pitch, e.g. a "chipmunk voice". A realtime conversion is to prefer if possible. I've read alot about changing audio pitch in iOS but most examples focus on playback, i.e. playing the sound with a different pitch. In my app I'm recording a movie (.m4v / AVFileTypeQuickTimeMovie) and saving it using standard AVAssetWriter. When saving the movie I have access to the following elements where I've tried to manipulate the audio (e.g. modify the pitch): audio buffer (CMSampleBufferRef) audio input writer (AVAssetWriterAudioInput) audio input writer options (e.g. AVNumberOfChannelsKey, AVSampleRateKey, AVChannelLayoutKey) asset writer (AVAssetWriter) I've tried to hook into the above objects to modify the audio pitch, but without success. I've also tried with Dirac as described here: Real Time Pitch Change In iPhone Using Dirac And OpenAL with AL_PITCH as described here: Piping output from OpenAL into a buffer And the "BASS" library from un4seen: Change Pitch/Tempo In Realtime I haven't found success with any of the above libs, most likely because I don't really know how to use them, and where to hook them into the audio saving code. There seems to be alot of librarys that have similar effects but focuses on playback or custom recording code. I want to manipulate the audio stream I've already got (AVAssetWriterAudioInput) or modify the saved movie clip (.m4v). I want the video to be unmodifed visually, i.e. played at the same speed. But I want the audio to go faster (like a chipmunk) or slower (like a ... monster? :)). Do you have any suggestions how I can modify the pitch in either real time (when recording the movie) or afterwards by converting the entire movie (.m4v file)? Should I look further into Dirac, OpenAL, SoundTouch, BASS or some other library? I want to be able to share the movie to others with modified audio, that's the reason I can't rely on modifying the pitch for playback only. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

  • how to set a tableview delegate

    - by dubbeat
Hi, I'm trying to use a tableview without using a nib and without using a UITableViewController. I have added a UITableView instance to a UIViewController Like So mytable = [[UITableView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(22, 207, 270, 233)]; [mytable setDelegate:self]; [self.view mytable]; Also I have added the following table view methods to my UIViewController (cut for brevities sake) - (UITableViewCell *)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView cellForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath - (CGFloat)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView heightForRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath - (NSInteger)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView numberOfRowsInSection:(NSInteger)section { - (void)tableView:(UITableView *)tableView didSelectRowAtIndexPath:(NSIndexPath *)indexPath { I am getting a warning saying that my UIViewController does not implement UITableView delegate protocol. Whats the correct way to tell the table view where its delegate methods are? (This is my first attempt at trying to use a UITableView without selecting the UITableTableview controller from the new file options)

  • Renderbuffer Width (Open GL ES)

    - by Josh Elsasser
    I'm currently experiencing an issue with an Open GL ES renderbuffer where the backing and width are are both set to 15. Is there any way to set them to the width of 320 and 480? My project is built up on Apple's EAGLView class and ES1Renderer, but I've moved it from the app delegate to a controller. I also moved the CADisplayLink outside of it (I update my game logic with the timestamp from this) Any help would be greatly appreciated. I add the glview to the window as follows: CGRect applicationFrame = [[UIScreen mainScreen] applicationFrame]; [window addSubview:gameController.glview]; [window makeKeyAndVisible]; I synthesize the controller and the glview within it. The EAGLView and Renderer are otherwise unmodified. Renderer Initialization: // Get the layer CAEAGLLayer *eaglLayer = (CAEAGLLayer *)self.layer; eaglLayer.opaque = TRUE; eaglLayer.drawableProperties = [NSDictionary dictionaryWithObjectsAndKeys: [NSNumber numberWithBool:FALSE], kEAGLDrawablePropertyRetainedBacking, kEAGLColorFormatRGBA8, kEAGLDrawablePropertyColorFormat, nil]; renderer = [[ES1Renderer alloc] init]; Render "resize from layer" Method - (BOOL)resizeFromLayer:(CAEAGLLayer *)layer { // Allocate color buffer backing based on the current layer size glBindRenderbufferOES(GL_RENDERBUFFER_OES, colorRenderbuffer); [context renderbufferStorage:GL_RENDERBUFFER_OES fromDrawable:layer]; glGetRenderbufferParameterivOES(GL_RENDERBUFFER_OES, GL_RENDERBUFFER_WIDTH_OES, &backingWidth); glGetRenderbufferParameterivOES(GL_RENDERBUFFER_OES, GL_RENDERBUFFER_HEIGHT_OES, &backingHeight); NSLog(@"Backing Width:%i and Height: %i", backingWidth, backingHeight); if (glCheckFramebufferStatusOES(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_OES) != GL_FRAMEBUFFER_COMPLETE_OES) { NSLog(@"Failed to make complete framebuffer object %x", glCheckFramebufferStatusOES(GL_FRAMEBUFFER_OES)); return NO; } return YES; }

  • OO model for nsxmlparser when delegate is not self

    - by richard
Hi, I am struggling with the correct design for the delegates of nsxmlparser. In order to build my table of Foos, I need to make two types of webservice calls; one for the whole table and one for each row. It's essentially a master-query then detail-query, except the master-query-result-xml doesn't return enough information so i then need to query the detail for each row. I'm not dealing with enormous amounts of data. Anyway - previously I've just used NSXMLParser *parser = [[NSXMLParser alloc]init]; [parser setDelegate:self]; [parser parse]; and implemented all the appropriate delegate methods in whatever class i'm in. In attempt at cleanliness, I've now created two separate delegate classes and done something like: NSXMLParser *xp = [[NSXMLParser alloc]init]; MyMasterXMLParserDelegate *masterParserDelegate = [[MyMasterXMLParser]alloc]init]; [xp setDelegate:masterParserDelegate]; [xp parse]; In addition to being cleaner (in my opinion, at least), it also means each of the -parser:didStartElement implementations don't spend most of the time trying to figure out which xml they're parsing. So now the real crux of the problem. Before i split out the delegates, i had in the main class that was also implementing the delegate methods, a class-level NSMutableArray that I would just put my objects-created-from-xml in when -parser:didEndElement found the 'end' of each record. Now the delegates are in separate classes, I can't figure out how to have the -parser:didEndElement in the 'detail' delegate class "return" the created object to the calling class. At least, not in a clean OO way. I'm sure i could do it with all sorts of nasty class methods. Does the question make sense? Thanks.

  • Recursively listing, and storing, directory contents

    - by enchilada
I know how to recursively list directory contents. I will be using Snow Leopard's enumeratorAtURL:includingPropertiesForKeys:options:errorHandler: method to do this. However I want to store my findings into a object hierarchy (of, say, objects of a custom FileOrDirectory class that has isLeaf, children, and count attributes). I need to pre-load the directory and file structure into such a object hierarchy, in order to do whatever I want with NSTreeController and whatnot. I guess the trickiest thing here is to get the children attribute correct in the object hierarchy. Any ideas?

  • Reusing a NSString variable - does it cause a memory leak?

    - by Chris S
Coming from a .NET background I'm use to reusing string variables for storage, so is the code below likely to cause a memory leak? The code is targeting OS X on the iphone/itouch so no automatic GC. -(NSString*) stringExample { NSString *result = @"example"; result = [result stringByAppendingString:@" test"]; // where does "example" go? return result; } What confuses me is an NSStrings are immutable, but you can reuse an 'immutable' variable with no problem.

  • UIView remove itself from UIScrollView

    - by alex25
Hi! Following Scenario: I have a = UIViewController A that contains a UIScrollView I have a second UIViewController "B" (amongst other things it contains a button) and add it to the ScrollView of A myView *mView = [[myView alloc] init]; [myScrollView addSubview:mView.view]; Is there a way that once the button is pressed that it(view) removes itself from the scrollview? I thought in the direction of setting the delegate of mView to "A" ?! But not sure how that should work in detail.... Any suggestions? Thanks!
