  • Vim: yank and replace -- the same yanked input -- multiple times, and two other questions

    Now that I am using vim for everything I type, rather then just for configuring servers, I wan't to sort out the following trivialities. I tried to formulate Google search queries but the results didn't address my questions :D. Question one: How do I yank and replace multiple times ? Once I have something in the yank history (if that is what its called) and then highlight and use the 'p' char in command mode the replaced text is put at the front of the yank history; therefore subsequent replace operations do not use the the text I intended. I imagine this to be a usefull feature under certain circumstances but I do not have a need for it in my workflow. Question two: How do I type text without causing the line to ripple forward ? I use hard-tab stops to allign my code in a certain way -- e.g., FunctionNameX ( lala * land ); FunctionNameProto ( ); When I figure out what needs to go into the second function, how do I insert it without move the text up ? Question three Is there a way of having a uniform yank history across gvim instances on the same machine ? I have 1 monitors. Just wondering, atm I am using highlight + mouse middle click.

  • Manipulating a NSTextField via AppleScript

    A little side project I'm working on is a digital life assistant, much like project JARVIS. What I'm trying to do is speak to my mac, have my words translated to text and then have the text interpreted by my program. Currently, my app is very simple, consisting of a single window containing a single wrapped NSTextView. Using MacSpeech Dictate, When I say the custom command "Jeeves", MacSpeech ensures that my app is frontmost, highlights any text in the TextField and clears it, then presses the Return key to trigger the textDidEndEditing method of NSTextField. This is done via Applescript. MacSpeech then switches to dictation mode and the next sentence I say will appear in the NSTextField. What I can't figure out is how to signify that I have finished saying a command to my program. I could simply say another keyword like "execute" or something similar that would send an AppleScript return keystroke to my app (thereby triggering the textDidEndEditing event) but this is cumbersome. Is there a notification that happens when text is pasted into a NSTextField? Would a timer work that would fire after maybe three seconds once my program becomes frontmost (three seconds should be sufficient for me to say a command)? Thanks,

  • Setting a DataGrid background color based on the previous row

    I'm trying to setup a grid where I do column sorting, but I wanted to do zebra striping, only rather than every other row or every x rows, I want it to be based on the value of cells. i.e. All cells that contain 0 have a blue background, the next value would have a white background, the next value would be blue, etc.... The problem I have is that I can't seem to find where to actually do the setting of the background colors. I'm using a custom sorter and I tried setting it in there after I re-order the list and set the data source, but it appears that when the data source is set, that the rows don't exist yet. I tried using the DataContextChanged, but that event doesn't seem to be firing.   • iPhone UITextField - Change placeholder text color

    I'd like to change the color of the placeholder text I set in my UITextField controls, to make it black. I'd prefer to do this without using normal text as the placeholder and having to override all the methods to imitate the behaviour of a placeholder. I believe if I override this method.. - (void)drawPlaceholderInRect:(CGRect)rect ..then I should be able to do this. But I'm unsure how to access the actual placeholder object from within this method.

    I have some HTML and I need to extract the actual written text from the page. So far I have tried using a web browser and rendering the page, then going to the document property and grabbing the text. This works, but only where the browser is supported (IE com object). The problem is I want this to be able to run under wine also, so I need a solution that doesn't use IE COM. There must be a programatic way to do this that is reasonable.

    I am filling Uitextfield with Uibutton click event.(e.g. clicking on BUTTONA will add 'a' to textfield.). my problem is that when inserted text reaches the end of textfield, further characters inserted into textfield via UIbutton are not visible.instead ... is seen . how to let text inside Uitextfield scroll to left when width of UItextfield is reached(just like when we enter characters in UItextfield via keyboard) ? Why does the test case with columns declared in the facelet page works correctly (ie the data model is correctly updated by JSF) where the same does not happen when the columns are created at runtime using the encodeBegin() method? Is there any method I need to invoke or interface I need to extend in order to ensure the data model is correctly updated? I am using this test case to address the issue that is appearing in a much more complex component, therefore I can't achieve the same functionality using a facelet composite component. Please note that this has been done using NetBeans 6.8, JRE 1.6.0u18, GlassFish 3.0. Thanks for your help.

    I need a text field very similar in behavior to Gxt's NumberField. Unfortunately I am not using Gxt in my application and GWT 2.0 does not have a Numeric text field implementation as yet. So that currently leaves me with an option to simulate a NumberField by filtering out non-numeric keystrokes using a keyboardHandler. Is this the the best way to approach the problem? Does anyone here have a better solution/approach in mind? Thanks in advance :)

    I'm checking if it would be possible to implement a GUI using HTML through PyQT and WebKit. One of the problem is that using the mouse you can select the text making up the interface. Can this behaviour be disabled? Also, the mouse pointer changes to an insertion caret while over the selectable text. I would like to disable this, without disabling the hand mouse pointer which appears when over a clickable link.

    I've created a ComboBox skin by extending mx.skins.ProgrammaticSkin. It's working fine, except I can't figure out how to limit the width of the text. Is there a way to control this within the skin? See the attached image for an example of the text going too far. I would like it to stop before the separator line to the left of the down arrow.
