• GXT - link two components height

  Hi! I want to have a panel, with two columns. The first column will contain a list of beans, and the right one a form panel for editing those beans. What I want to do, is that list height is the same as height of the form panel on the right. My list of beans will be larger and larger over time, so it's height will probably exceed form height. When that happens, there should be a scrollbar showed for the list. I also don't want to set explicit size for list and my form panel (it should be flexible because some time I will add or remove some form fields). I'm basically new to GXT. • Help translating Reflector deconstruction into compilable code

  So I am Reflector-ing some framework 2.0 code and end up with the following deconstruction fixed (void* voidRef3 = ((void*) &_someMember)) { ... } This won't compile due to 'The right hand side of a fixed statement assignment may not be a cast expression' I understand that Reflector can only approximate and generally I can see a clear path but this is a bit outside my experience. Question: what is Reflector trying to describe to me? Update: Am also seeing the following fixed (IntPtr* ptrRef3 = ((IntPtr*) &this._someMember)) Update: So, as Mitch says, it is not a bitwise operator, but an addressOf operator. Question is now: fixed (IntPtr* ptrRef3 = &_someMember) fails with an 'Cannot implicitly convert type 'xxx*' to 'System.IntPtr*'. An explicit conversion exists (are you missing a cast?)' compilation error. So I seemed to be damned if I do and damned if I dont. Any ideas?

• Rails: Converting from MySQL to PostGres breaks Geokit Distance Calculations???

  I recently switched my database from MySQL to PostGres. I also use GeoKit. When I started my app up with the new database already seeded, I get the following error: PGError: ERROR: function radians(character varying) does not exist LINE 1: ...COS(0.661045389762993)*COS(-2.12957994527573)*COS(RADIANS(ti... ^ HINT: No function matches the given name and argument types. You might need to add explicit type casts. Anyone know why this is breaking now? I know GeoKit still works because it's still performing the geocoding in the model per ticket when the database is seeded, it just won't do the distance calculations correctly.

  When a SQL batch returns more than one message from e.g. print statements, then I can only retrieve the first one using the ADO connection's Errors collection. How do I get the rest of the messages? • After MS Access Conversion 97 --> 2002 I get 'Enter Parameter Value' when exitting a form.

  Hi, So when I exit a form from my newly converted .mdb it asks to Enter Parameter Value. It goes through (ie if i enter a value, it asks for another) the values required for a query that is run on a List Box on the page. The query has not been changed during the conversion. The values it is getting for the query are from text boxes on the same form. There are a few Requeries in the form (run from VB) so I imagine that it is rerunning again on Exit (although this isnt explicit in the form properties). I'm not quite sure how to go about solving this. Your help would be great. Thanks

If the call to 'json.loads' is omitted then this issue is not observed. A gc.collect after this function execution does releases the memory. Looks like the memory is not held in any caches or python's internal memory allocator as explicit call to gc.collect is releasing memory. Is this happening because the threshold for garbage collection (700, 10, 10) was never reached ? I did put some code after jsontest to simulate threshold. But it didn't help.

• Code optimization - Unused methods

  How can I tell if a method will never be used ? I know that for dll files and libraries you can't really know if someone else (another project) will ever use the code. In general I assume that anything public might be used somewhere else. But what about private methods ? Is it safe to assume that if I don't see an explicit call to that method, it won't be used ? I assume that for private methods it's easier to decide. But is it safe to decide it ONLY for private methods ?

  Take the following class: class mytype { double num; public: mytype(int a) { num = sqrt(a); } void print() { cout << num; } } Say there is a method which takes a mytype: void foo(mytype a) { a.print(); } Is it legal c++ (or is there a way to implement this) to call foo(4), which would (in theory) output 2? From what I can glean you can overload type casts from a user defined class, but not to. Can constructor do this in a standards-compliant manner (assuming, of course, the constructor is not explicit). Hopefully there is a way to in the end have this legal: int a; cin >> a; foo(a); Note: this is quite obviously not the actual issue, but just an example for posting purposes. I can't just overload the function because of inheritance and other program-specific issues.

  Could someone please explain the difference in how the 2 snippets of code are handled below? They definitely compile to different assembly code, but I'm trying to understand how the code might act differently.   I have a class Bar: class Bar { public: Bar(void); ~Bar(void); }; And a class Foo that gets a reference to Bar object as a constructor parameter and needs to save it in a private member bar_ : class Foo { private: Bar& bar_; public: Foo(Bar& bar) : bar_(bar) {} ~Foo(void) {} }; This doesn't compile : overloaded member function not found in 'Parser' missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int Now i suspect couple of things that i need to assure, the second error is for Bar& bar_; declaration in Foo. Do i need to use an explicit constructor when declaring bar_ ? I am interested in learning how the compiler works regarding this matter, so a detailed explanation would be highly appreciated. • NTLM Authentication fails ONLY with IE against 2k8 App server behind 2k8 IIS7 Reverse Proxy

  I'm developing an ASP.NET application for an intranet site that is using Windows/NTLM/WIA/whatever authentication. The application is hosted on a Windows 2k8 server but is accessed through a Reverse Proxy using IIs7 on another 2k8 machine. Authentication works fine in FireFox, Chrome and Safari but fails in IE8. If I circumvent the Proxy and access the application server directly then it works fine so it has something to do with proxy. There's nothing in the Event Viewer on any of the 3 machines to indicate what might be happening. If you connect using IE8 it prompts for your credentials instead of automatically passing them, yes I've setup an explicit trust over an above the domain trust, but it still errors out with a 401 error returned from the proxy. Any ideas where to start troubleshooting this?

  You all know how annoying is this: I do have a log system and the correct error is well explicit there, but I want to give a better message to the user. • Does a rollback still occur if I use begin...rescue and an error occurs?

  I've got some strange errors happening in my rails app and I'm trying to log better errors instead of the whole stack of passenger stuff that I don't care about. I thought I would do this with a Rescue clause and explicit error handling, like logging the params hash. But I'm concerned if this would interrupt any rollback that is happening. For that matter, I'm assuming rollbacks automatically occur when an error occurs as part of the normal rails error handling, but I haven't been able to find that documented anywhere. I'm using Dreamhost with MySQL, so I thought transactions and rollbacks were happening there.

• Pure virtual destructor in interface

  Hello all. Here is my problem. I'm making C++ dll, which extensively relies on instance object exports. So i return my actual instances as a pointers to interface through some exported factory method. Interfaces i use are purely virtual, to avoid linking problame. So i need a pure virtual destructor too, and i implemented one (with empty body, as i googled it). All compiles perfectly well, except... I can't see, if the actual destructors are called or not - because when i added some std::cout << "hello destructor"; i never get to see it. I have some explicit "delete obj", that's not the problem. Am i missing something? Is there another way to delete my object through interface?

  I'm starting to delve into using Spring DM and OSGi services in an RCP application. I've created a service which is used by another bundle in the RCP application. It does a lookup of the service via calls to getBundleContext().getServiceReference() using the explicit bundle names and service class names. I'm not using DI anywhere yet. The issue I'm running into is that the service that is returned in the requesting bundle is a singleton. At times I notice a threading issue since it is a "stateful" service. How do I configure the application to get back a new service instance with each call? • How prevent anyone from stealing my shared_ptr?

  So, I use boost::shared_ptr for all the various reference-counting benefits it provides -- reference counting for starters, obviously, but also the ability to copy, assign, and therefore store in STL Containers. The problem is, if I pass it to just one "malicious" function or object, the object can save the ptr and then I'll never be able to de-allocate it without the foreign function or object nicely relinquishing its ownership. Ultimately, I try to keep object ownership explicit. I accomplish this by having the owner keep the only shared_ptr to the object, and "guest" objects only store weak_ptrs to the object. I really don't want the "shared" part of shared_ptr, but I'm required to use shared_ptr in order to make weak_ptrs. I want to use scoped_ptr, but it's extremely limited since you can't copy it. You can't store it in a container, you can't lend out weak_ptrs from it, and you can't transfer ownership to a new manager. What's the solution?

  What is the difference between IEditableObject and IRevertibleChangeTracking (both from the System.ComponentModel namespace)? It looks as if the first supports explicit transaction whilst the second is more implicit - but the net result is the same. How should I go about implementing this in code? At the moment I do nothing in BeginEdit and call RejectChanges and AcceptChanges in EndEdit and CancelEdit respectively. My problem is that this will also accept the changes made prior to the BeginEdit. Is that really what MS wanted or am I trying to implement two mutually exclusive interfaces?

  I have a column in my DB that is set with Identity(1,1) and I can't get hibernate annotations to work for it. I get errors when I try to create a new record. In my entity I have the following. @GeneratedValue(strategy=GenerationType.IDENTITY, generator="native") @Column(name="SeqNo", unique=true, nullable=false) BigDecimal seqNo; But when I try to add a new record I get the following error. Cannot insert explicit value for identity column in table 'MemberSelectedOptions' when IDENTITY_INSERT is set to OFF. I don't want to set IDENTIY_INSERT to ON because I want the identity column in the db to manage the values. The SQL that is run is the following; where you can clearly see the insert. insert into dbo.MemberSelectedOptions (OptionStatusCd, EffectiveDate, TermDate, SelectionStatusDate, SysLstUpdtUserId, SysLstTrxDtm, SourceApplication, GroupId, MemberId, OptionId, SeqNo) values (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?)
