  • MySQL Database Design with Internationalization

    - by Some name
Hello, I'm going to start work on a medium sized application, and i'm planning it's db design. One thing that I'm not sure about is this. I will have many tables which will need internationalization, such as: "membership_options, gender_options, language_options etc" Each of these tables will share common i18n fields, like: "title, alternative_title, short_description, description" In your opinion which is the best way to do it? Have an i18n table with the same fields for each of the tables that will need them? or do something like: Membership table Gender table ---------------- -------------- id | created_at id | created_at 1 - 22.03.2001 1 - 14.08.2002 2 - 22.03.2001 2 - 14.08.2002 General translation table ------------------------- record_id | table_name | string_name | alternative_title| .... |id_language 1 - membership regular null 1 (english) 1 - membership normale null 2 (italian) 1 - gender man null 1(english) 1 -gender uomo null 2(italian) This would avoid me repeating something like: membership_translation table ----------------------------- membership_id | name | alternative_title | id_lang 1 regular null 1 1 normale null 2 gender_translation table ----------------------------- gender_id | name | alternative_title | id_lang 1 man null 1 1 uomo null 2 and so on, so i would probably reduce the number of db tables, but i'm not sure about performance.I'm not much of a DB designer, so please let me know.

mso-style-unhide:no; mso-tstyle-shading:#F7CBC7; mso-tstyle-shading-themecolor:accent6; mso-tstyle-shading-themetint:63;} It is generally accepted among business communities that technology by itself is not a silver bullet to all problems, but when it is combined with leading practices, strategy, careful planning and execution, it can create a recipe for success. This post attempts to highlight some of the best practices along with dos & don’ts that our practice has accumulated over the years in the identity & access management space in general, and also in the context of R2, in particular. Best Practices The following section illustrates the leading practices in “How” to plan, implement and sustain a successful OIM deployment, based on our collective experience. Planning is critical, but often overlooked A common approach to planning an IAM program that we identify with our clients is the three step process involving a current state assessment, a future state roadmap and an executable strategy to get there. It is extremely beneficial for clients to assess their current IAM state, perform gap analysis, document the recommended controls to address the gaps, align future state roadmap to business initiatives and get buy in from all stakeholders involved to improve the chances of success. When designing an enterprise-wide solution, the scalability of the technology must accommodate the future growth of the enterprise and the projected identity transactions over several years. Aligning the implementation schedule of OIM to related information technology projects increases the chances of success. As a baseline, it is recommended to match hardware specifications to the sizing guide for R2 published by Oracle. Adherence to this will help ensure that the hardware used to support OIM will not become a bottleneck as the adoption of new services increases. If your Organization has numerous connected applications that rely on reconciliation to synchronize the access data into OIM, consider hosting dedicated instances to handle reconciliation. Finally, ensure the use of clustered environment for development and have at least three total environments to help facilitate a controlled migration to production. If your Organization is planning to implement role based access control, we recommend performing a role mining exercise and consolidate your enterprise roles to keep them manageable. In addition, many Organizations have multiple approval flows to control access to critical roles, applications and entitlements. If your Organization falls into this category, we highly recommend that you limit the number of approval workflows to a small set. Most Organizations have operations managed across data centers with backend database synchronization, if your Organization falls into this category, ensure that the overall latency between the datacenters when replicating the databases is less than ten milliseconds to ensure that there are no front office performance impacts. Ingredients for a successful implementation During the development phase of your project, there are a number of guidelines that can be followed to help increase the chances for success. Most implementations cannot be completed without the use of customizations. If your implementation requires this, it’s a good practice to perform code reviews to help ensure quality and reduce code bottlenecks related to performance. We have observed at our clients that the development process works best when team members adhere to coding leading practices. Plan for time to correct coding defects and ensure developers are empowered to report their own bugs for maximum transparency. Many organizations struggle with defining a consistent approach to managing logs. This is particularly important due to the amount of information that can be logged by OIM. We recommend Oracle Diagnostics Logging (ODL) as an alternative to be used for logging. ODL allows log files to be formatted in XML for easy parsing and does not require a server restart when the log levels are changed during troubleshooting. Testing is a vital part of any large project, and an OIM R2 implementation is no exception. We suggest that at least one lower environment should use production-like data and connectors. Configurations should match as closely as possible. For example, use secure channels between OIM and target platforms in pre-production environments to test the configurations, the migration processes of certificates, and the additional overhead that encryption could impose. Finally, we ask our clients to perform database backups regularly and before any major change event, such as a patch or migration between environments. In the lowest environments, we recommend to have at least a weekly backup in order to prevent significant loss of time and effort. Similarly, if your organization is using virtual machines for one or more of the environments, it is recommended to take frequent snapshots so that rollbacks can occur in the event of improper configuration. Operate & sustain the solution to derive maximum benefits When migrating OIM R2 to production, it is important to perform certain activities that will help achieve a smoother transition. At our clients, we have seen that splitting the OIM tables into their own tablespaces by categories (physical tables, indexes, etc.) can help manage database growth effectively. If we notice that a client hasn’t enabled the Oracle-recommended indexing in the applicable database, we strongly suggest doing so to improve performance. Additionally, we work with our clients to make sure that the audit level is set to fit the organization’s auditing needs and sometimes even allocate UPA tables and indexes into their own table-space for better maintenance. Finally, many of our clients have set up schedules for reconciliation tables to be archived at regular intervals in order to keep the size of the database(s) reasonable and result in optimal database performance. For our clients that anticipate availability issues with target applications, we strongly encourage the use of the offline provisioning capabilities of OIM R2. This reduces the provisioning process for a given target application dependency on target availability and help avoid broken workflows. To account for this and other abnormalities, we also advocate that OIM’s monitoring controls be configured to alert administrators on any abnormal situations. Within OIM R2, we have begun advising our clients to utilize the ‘profile’ feature to encapsulate multiple commonly requested accounts, roles, and/or entitlements into a single item. By setting up a number of profiles that can be searched for and used, users will spend less time performing the same exact steps for common tasks. We advise our clients to follow the Oracle recommended guides for database and application server tuning which provides a good baseline configuration. It offers guidance on database connection pools, connection timeouts, user interface threads and proper handling of adapters/plug-ins. All of these can be important configurations that will allow faster provisioning and web page response times. Many of our clients have begun to recognize the value of data mining and a remediation process during the initial phases of an implementation (to help ensure high quality data gets loaded) and beyond (to support ongoing maintenance and business-as-usual processes). A successful program always begins with identifying the data elements and assigning a classification level based on criticality, risk, and availability. It should finish by following through with a remediation process. Dos & Don’ts Here are the most common dos and don'ts that we socialize with our clients, derived from our experience implementing the solution. Dos Don’ts Scope the project into phases with realistic goals. Look for quick wins to show success and value to the stake holders. Avoid “boiling the ocean” and trying to integrate all enterprise applications in the first phase. Establish an enterprise ID (universal unique ID across the enterprise) earlier in the program. Avoid major UI customizations that require code changes. Have a plan in place to patch during the project, which helps alleviate any major issues or roadblocks (product and database). Avoid publishing all the target entitlements if you don't anticipate their usage during access request. Assess your current state and prepare a roadmap to address your operations, tactical and strategic goals, align it with your business priorities. Avoid integrating non-production environments with your production target systems. Defer complex integrations to the later phases and take advantage of lessons learned from previous phases Avoid creating multiple accounts for the same user on the same system, if there is an opportunity to do so. Have an identity and access data quality initiative built into your plan to identify and remediate data related issues early on. Avoid creating complex approval workflows that would negative impact productivity and SLAs. Identify the owner of the identity systems with fair IdM knowledge and empower them with authority to make product related decisions. This will help ensure overcome any design hurdles. Avoid creating complex designs that are not sustainable long term and would need major overhaul during upgrades. Shadow your internal or external consulting resources during the implementation to build the necessary product skills needed to operate and sustain the solution. Avoid treating IAM as a point solution and have appropriate level of communication and training plan for the IT and business users alike. Conclusion In our experience, Identity programs will struggle with scope, proper resourcing, and more. We suggest that companies consider the suggestions discussed in this post and leverage them to help enable their identity and access program. • JBoss 7.1.1 + Spring 3.1 + JPA 2 (Hibernate 3.6.8) > Cannot parse beans.xml

    - by Mashrur
    Trying to deploy a JSF 2 app with Spring 3.1 + JPA 2 (Hibernte 3.6.8) into JBoss 7.1.1 AS. The app was working fine on tomcat 7. Now, I have already added and changed some configurations. Added jboss-deployment-structure.xml <jboss-deployment-structure xmlns="urn:jboss:deployment-structure:1.1"> <deployment> <exclusions> <module name="org.apache.log4j" /> <module name="javax.faces.api" slot="main"/> <module name="com.sun.jsf-impl" slot="main"/> <module name="org.hibernate"/> <module name="org.javassist" /> <module name="javaee.api" /> <module name="org.hibernate.validator" /> <module name="org.jboss.as.web" /> <module name="org.jboss.logging" /> <module name="javax.persistence.api" /> <module name="org.jboss.interceptor" /> </exclusions> </deployment> </jboss-deployment-structure> 2. Inside web.xml added these lines: <persistence-unit-ref> <persistence-unit-ref-name>persistence/persistenceUnit</persistence-unit-ref-name> <persistence-unit-name>persistenceUnit</persistence-unit-name> </persistence-unit-ref> 3. Inside applicationContext.xml, changed bean definition for entityManagerFactory by adding this property <property name="persistenceXmlLocation" value="classpath*:META-INF/persistence.xml"/> Now, do I still need to do something more than these which is obvious to you? Because, while I am trying to deploy it from eclipse indigo SR2, getting this 14:10:32,046 INFO [org.jboss.modules] JBoss Modules version 1.1.1.GA 14:10:33,054 INFO [org.jboss.msc] JBoss MSC version 1.0.2.GA 14:10:33,200 INFO [org.jboss.as] JBAS015899: JBoss AS 7.1.1.Final "Brontes" starting 14:10:36,375 INFO [org.xnio] XNIO Version 3.0.3.GA 14:10:36,384 INFO [org.jboss.as.server] JBAS015888: Creating http management service using socket-binding (management-http) 14:10:36,432 INFO [org.xnio.nio] XNIO NIO Implementation Version 3.0.3.GA 14:10:36,462 INFO [org.jboss.remoting] JBoss Remoting version 3.2.3.GA 14:10:36,587 INFO [org.jboss.as.logging] JBAS011502: Removing bootstrap log handlers 14:10:36,714 INFO [org.jboss.as.security] (ServerService Thread Pool -- 44) JBAS013101: Activating Security Subsystem 14:10:36,735 INFO [org.jboss.as.naming] (MSC service thread 1-2) JBAS011802: Starting Naming Service 14:10:37,043 INFO [org.jboss.as.mail.extension] (MSC service thread 1-6) JBAS015400: Bound mail session [java:jboss/mail/Default] 14:10:37,208 INFO [org.jboss.as.connector] (MSC service thread 1-7) JBAS010408: Starting JCA Subsystem (JBoss IronJacamar 1.0.9.Final) 14:10:37,295 INFO [org.jboss.as.security] (MSC service thread 1-7) JBAS013100: Current PicketBox version=4.0.7.Final 14:10:37,740 INFO [org.jboss.as.connector.subsystems.datasources] (ServerService Thread Pool -- 27) JBAS010403: Deploying JDBC-compliant driver class org.h2.Driver (version 1.3) 14:10:38,792 INFO [org.jboss.ws.common.management.AbstractServerConfig] (MSC service thread 1-3) JBoss Web Services - Stack CXF Server 4.0.2.GA 14:10:38,833 INFO [org.apache.coyote.http11.Http11Protocol] (MSC service thread 1-2) Starting Coyote HTTP/1.1 on http-localhost-127.0.0.1-8080 14:10:39,534 INFO [org.jboss.as.server.deployment.scanner] (MSC service thread 1-1) JBAS015012: Started FileSystemDeploymentService for directory F:\work\softwares\Application Servers\JBoss\jboss-as-7.1.1.Final\jboss-as-7.1.1.Final\standalone\deployments 14:10:39,618 INFO [org.jboss.as.remoting] (MSC service thread 1-3) JBAS017100: Listening on localhost/127.0.0.1:4447 14:10:39,623 INFO [org.jboss.as.remoting] (MSC service thread 1-2) JBAS017100: Listening on /127.0.0.1:9999 14:10:39,698 INFO [org.jboss.as.server.deployment.scanner] (DeploymentScanner-threads - 1) JBAS015014: Re-attempting failed deployment treasury.war 14:10:39,706 INFO [org.jboss.as.server.deployment.scanner] (DeploymentScanner-threads - 1) JBAS015003: Found com.misl.treasury.ui.war in deployment directory. • C# XmlSchemaSet - Resolving included schemas to enumerate attribute groups

    - by satixx
    Hi, I currently have a compiled XmlSchemaSet from which I get possible elements/attributes for each specific "parent" element defined in the schema. I have a single "master" xsd schema which includes another schema and uses attributeGroup references for some "common" elements. Here is a sample: (MasterSchema.xsd) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="MasterSchema" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns:mstns="CommonNamespace.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" > <xs:include schemaLocation="SourceAttributeGroups.xsd"/> <xs:element name="Binding" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="2"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="Name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:attributeGroup ref="BindingSourceAttributeGroup"/> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> (SourceAttributeGroups.xsd) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="SourceAttributeGroups" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns:mstns="CommonNamespace.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" > <xs:attributeGroup id="BindingSourceAttributeGroup" name="BindingSourceAttributeGroup"> <xs:attribute name="Source"> <xs:simpleType> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="Data"/> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> </xs:attribute> <!-- When Source is None --> <xs:attribute name="Value" type="xs:string"/> <!-- Label --> <xs:attribute name="Label" type="xs:string"/> </attributeGroup> </xs:schema> I would like to create an XmlSchemaSet in C# which would resolve, compile and "merge" every references of the MasterSchema so it would finaly look like this: (MasterSchema.xsd) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <xs:schema id="MasterSchema" xmlns:xs="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" targetNamespace="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns="CommonNamespace.xsd" xmlns:mstns="CommonNamespace.xsd" elementFormDefault="qualified" > <xs:include schemaLocation="SourceAttributeGroups.xsd"/> <xs:element name="Binding" minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="2"> <xs:complexType> <xs:attribute name="Name" type="xs:string"/> <xs:attribute name="Source"> <xs:simpleType> <xs:restriction base="xs:string"> <xs:enumeration value="Data"/> </xs:restriction> </xs:simpleType> </xs:attribute> <!-- When Source is None --> <xs:attribute name="Value" type="xs:string"/> <!-- Label --> <xs:attribute name="Label" type="xs:string"/> </xs:complexType> </xs:element> </xs:schema> This way, I could traverse each XmlSchemaParticle of the compiled schema to get every single attribute for a specific element, even when its attributes are defined in an external schema. At the moment, when I get the possible attributes for a "Binding" element, I only get the "Name" attribute since it is originally defined in the "master" schema. What would be the possible solutions to this problem? Thanks! Satixx

  • NHibernate Query across multiple tables

    - by Dai Bok
I am using NHibernate, and am trying to figure out how to write a query, that searchs all the names of my entities, and lists the results. As a simple example, I have the following objects; public class Cat { public string name {get; set;} } public class Dog { public string name {get; set;} } public class Owner { public string firstname {get; set;} public string lastname {get; set;} } Eventaully I want to create a query , say for example, which and returns all the pet owners with an name containing "ted", OR pets with a name containing "ted". Here is an example of the SQL I want to execute: SELECT TOP 10 d.*, c.*, o.* FROM owners AS o INNER JOIN dogs AS d ON o.id = d.ownerId INNER JOIN cats AS c ON o.id = c.ownerId WHERE o.lastname like '%ted%' OR o.firstname like '%ted%' OR c.name like '%ted%' OR d.name like '%ted%' When I do it using Criteria like this: var criteria = session.CreateCriteria<Owner>() .Add( Restrictions.Disjunction() .Add(Restrictions.Like("FirstName", keyword, MatchMode.Anywhere)) .Add(Restrictions.Like("LastName", keyword, MatchMode.Anywhere)) ) .CreateCriteria("Dog").Add(Restrictions.Like("Name", keyword, MatchMode.Anywhere)) .CreateCriteria("Cat").Add(Restrictions.Like("Name", keyword, MatchMode.Anywhere)); return criteria.List<Owner>(); The following query is generated: SELECT TOP 10 d.*, c.*, o.* FROM owners AS o INNER JOIN dogs AS d ON o.id = d.ownerId INNER JOIN cats AS c ON o.id = c.ownerId WHERE o.lastname like '%ted%' OR o.firstname like '%ted%' AND d.name like '%ted%' AND c.name like '%ted%' How can I adjust my query so that the .CreateCriteria("Dog") and .CreateCriteria("Cat") generate an OR instead of the AND? thanks for your help.

  • ASP.NET MVC Areas: How to hide "Area" name in URL?

    - by Mark Redman
When running the MVC 2 Areas example that has a Blog Area and Blog Controller the URL looks like this: http://localhost:50526/Blog/Blog/ShowRecent in the format: RootUrl / AreaName / ControllerName / ActionName Having just discovered MVC Areas, it seem like a great way to organise code, ie create an Area for each section, which in my case each section has its own controller. This means that each AreaName = ControllerName. The effect of this is the double AreaName/ControllerName path in the Url eg /Blog/Blog/ above Not having a complete clear understanding of routing, how could I setup routing to not show the AreaName?

  • Grails - Simple hasMany Problem - Using CheckBoxes rather than HTML Select in create.gsp

    - by gav
My problem is this: I want to create a grails domain instance, defining the 'Many' instances of another domain that it has. I have the actual source in a Google Code Project but the following should illustrate the problem. class Person { String name static hasMany[skills:Skill] static constraints = { id (visible:false) skills (nullable:false, blank:false) } } class Skill { String name String description static constraints = { id (visible:false) name (nullable:false, blank:false) description (nullable:false, blank:false) } } If you use this model and def scaffold for the two Controllers then you end up with a form like this that doesn't work; My own attempt to get this to work enumerates the Skills as checkboxes and looks like this; But when I save the Volunteer the skills are null! This is the code for my save method; def save = { log.info "Saving: " + params.toString() def skills = params.skills log.info "Skills: " + skills def volunteerInstance = new Volunteer(params) log.info volunteerInstance if (volunteerInstance.save(flush: true)) { flash.message = "${message(code: 'default.created.message', args: [message(code: 'volunteer.label', default: 'Volunteer'), volunteerInstance.id])}" redirect(action: "show", id: volunteerInstance.id) log.info volunteerInstance } else { render(view: "create", model: [volunteerInstance: volunteerInstance]) } } This is my log output (I have custom toString() methods); 2010-05-10 21:06:41,494 [http-8080-3] INFO bumbumtrain.VolunteerController - Saving: ["skills":["1", "2"], "name":"Ian", "_skills":["", ""], "create":"Create", "action":"save", "controller":"volunteer"] 2010-05-10 21:06:41,495 [http-8080-3] INFO bumbumtrain.VolunteerController - Skills: [1, 2] 2010-05-10 21:06:41,508 [http-8080-3] INFO bumbumtrain.VolunteerController - Volunteer[ id: null | Name: Ian | Skills [Skill[ id: 1 | Name: Carpenter ] , Skill[ id: 2 | Name: Sound Engineer ] ]] Note that in the final log line the right Skills have been picked up and are part of the object instance. When the volunteer is saved the 'Skills' are ignored and not commited to the database despite the in memory version created clearly does have the items. Is it not possible to pass the Skills at construction time? There must be a way round this? I need a single form to allow a person to register but I want to normalise the data so that I can add more skills at a later time. If you think this should 'just work' then a link to a working example would be great. If I use the HTML Select then it works fine! Such as the following to make the Create page; <tr class="prop"> <td valign="top" class="name"> <label for="skills"><g:message code="volunteer.skills.label" default="Skills" /></label> </td> <td valign="top" class="value ${hasErrors(bean: volunteerInstance, field: 'skills', 'errors')}"> <g:select name="skills" from="${uk.co.bumbumtrain.Skill.list()}" multiple="yes" optionKey="id" size="5" value="${volunteerInstance?.skills}" /> </td> </tr> But I need it to work with checkboxes like this; <tr class="prop"> <td valign="top" class="name"> <label for="skills"><g:message code="volunteer.skills.label" default="Skills" /></label> </td> <td valign="top" class="value ${hasErrors(bean: volunteerInstance, field: 'skills', 'errors')}"> <g:each in="${skillInstanceList}" status="i" var="skillInstance"> <label for="${skillInstance?.name}"><g:message code="${skillInstance?.name}.label" default="${skillInstance?.name}" /></label> <g:checkBox name="skills" value="${skillInstance?.id.toString()}"/> </g:each> </td> </tr> The log output is exactly the same! With both style of form the Volunteer instance is created with the Skills correctly referenced in the 'Skills' variable. When saving, the latter fails with a null reference exception as shown at the top of this question. Hope this makes sense, thanks in advance! Gav

  • PHP SimpleXML recursive function to list children and attibutes

    - by Phill Pafford
    I need some help on the SimpleXML calls for a recursive function that lists the elements name and attributes. Making a XML config file system but each script will have it's own config file as well as a new naming convention. So what I need is an easy way to map out all the elements that have attributes, so like in example 1 I need a simple way to call all the processes but I don't know how to do this without hard coding the elements name is the function call. Is there a way to recursively call a function to match a child element name? I did see the xpath functionality but I don't see how to use this for attributes. Any ideas? Also does the XML in the examples look correct? can I structure my XML like this? Example 1: <application> <processes> <process id="123" name="run batch A" /> <process id="122" name="run batch B" /> <process id="129" name="run batch C" /> </processes> <connections> <databases> <database usr="test" pss="test" hst="test" dbn="test" /> </databases> <shells> <ssh usr="test" pss="test" hst="test-2" /> <ssh usr="test" pss="test" hst="test-1" /> </shells> </connections> </application> Example 2: <config> <queues> <queue id="1" name="test" /> <queue id="2" name="production" /> <queue id="3" name="error" /> </queues> </config> Pseudo code: // Would return matching process id getProcess($process_id) { return the process attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching DBN (database name) getDatabase($database_name) { return the database attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching SSH Host getSSHHost($ssh_host) { return the ssh attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching SSH User getSSHUser($ssh_user) { return the ssh attributes as array that are in the XML } // Would return matching Queue getQueue($queue_id) { return the queue attributes as array that are in the XML } EDIT: Can I pass two parms? on the first method you have suggested @Gordon public function findProcessById($id, $name) { $attr = false; $el = $this->xml->xpath("//process[@id='$id']"); // How do I also filter by the name? if($el && count($el) === 1) { $attr = (array) $el[0]->attributes(); $attr = $attr['@attributes']; } return $attr; }

  • Loading Properties with Spring (via System Properties)

    My problem is as follows: I have server.properties for different environments. The path to those properties is provided trough a system property called propertyPath. How can I instruct my applicationContext.xml to load the properties with the given propertyPath system property without some ugly MethodInvokingBean which calls System.getProperty(''); My applicationContext.xml <bean id="systemPropertyConfigurer" class="org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer"> <property name="systemPropertiesModeName" value="SYSTEM_PROPERTIES_MODE_OVERRIDE"/> <property name="placeholderPrefix" value="sys{"/> <property name="properties"> <props> <prop key="propertyPath">/default/path/to/server.properties</prop> </props> </property> </bean> <bean id="propertyResource" class="org.springframework.core.io.FileSystemResource" dependency-check="all" depends-on="systemPropertyConfigurer"> <constructor-arg value="sys{propertyPath}"/> </bean> <bean id="serviceProperties" class="org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertiesFactoryBean"> <property name="location" ref="propertyResource"/> </bean> <bean id="propertyConfigurer" class="org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer"> <property name="location" ref="propertyResource"/> <property name="placeholderPrefix" value="prop{"/> <property name="ignoreUnresolvablePlaceholders" value="true"/> <property name="ignoreResourceNotFound" value="false"/> </bean> <bean id="dataSource" class="org.springframework.jndi.JndiObjectFactoryBean"> <property name="jndiName" value="prop{datasource.name}"/> </bean> with this configuration the propertyResource alsways complains about java.io.FileNotFoundException: sys{propertyPath} (The system cannot find the file specified) Any suggestions? ;-) Thanks gabe

  • Android - Autocomplete with contacts

    - by The Salt
I've created an AutoCompleteTextView box that displays the names of all contacts, but after looking in the Android APIs, it seems my method is probably quite inefficient. Currently I am grabbing a cursor of the all the contacts, placing each name and each contact id into two different arrays, then passing the name array to the AutoCompleteTextView. When a user selects an item, I lookup which ID the contact selected in the second id array created above. Code below: private ContactNames mContactData; // Fill the autocomplete textbox Cursor contactsCursor = grabContacts(); mContactData = new ContactNames(contactsCursor); ArrayAdapter<String> adapter = new ArrayAdapter<String>(this, R.layout.contact_name, mContactData.namesArray); mNameText.setAdapter(adapter); private class ContactNames { private String[] namesArray; private long[] idsArray; private ContactNames(Cursor cur) { namesArray = new String[cur.getCount()]; idsArray = new long[cur.getCount()]; String name; Long contactid; // Get column id's int nameColumn = cur.getColumnIndex(People.NAME); int idColumn = cur.getColumnIndex(People._ID); int i=0; cur.moveToFirst(); // Check that there are actually any contacts returned by the cursor if (cur.getCount()>0){ do { // Get the field values name = cur.getString(nameColumn); contactid = Long.parseLong(cur.getString(idColumn)); // Do something with the values. namesArray[i] = name; idsArray[i] = contactid; i++; } while (cur.moveToNext()); } } private long search(String name){ // Lookup name in the contact list that we've put in an array int indexOfName = Arrays.binarySearch(namesArray, name); long contact = 0; if (indexOfName>=0) { contact = idsArray[indexOfName]; } return contact; } } private Cursor grabContacts(){ // Form an array specifying which columns to return. String[] projection = new String[] {People._ID, People.NAME}; // Get the base URI for the People table in the Contacts content provider. Uri contacts = People.CONTENT_URI; // Make the query. Cursor managedCursor = managedQuery(contacts, projection, null, null, People.NAME + " ASC"); // Put the results in ascending order by name startManagingCursor(managedCursor); return managedCursor; } There must be a better way of doing this - basically I'm struggling to see how I can find which item a user selected in an AutoCompleteTextView. Any ideas? Cheers.

  • Jboss logging issue

    - by balaji
Our application is deployed on JBoss As 4.0x and we face some issues with JBoss logging. Whenever the server is restarted, JBoss stops logging, and there is no update in server.log. After that it is not updating the log file. Then we do touch cmd on log4j.xml, so that it creates the log files again. Please help me in fixing the issue we cant do touch everytime. We face this issue in both the nodes. I could not figure where the problem is? If any other issues, we can check the log files. If log itself is not getting updated/logged, how can we move further in analyzing the issues without the recent/updated logs? • Prevent ListBox from focusing but leave ListBoxItem(s) focusable (wpf)

    - by modosansreves
Here is what happens: I have a listbox with items. Listbox has focus. Some item (say, 5th) is selected (has a blue background), but has no 'border'. When I press 'Down' key, the focus moves from ListBox to the first ListBoxItem. (What I want is to make 6th item selected, regardless of the 'border') When I navigate using 'Tab', the Listbox never receives the focus again. But when the collection is emptied and filled again, ListBox itself gets focus, pressing 'Down' moves the focus to the item. How to prevent ListBox from gaining focus? P.S. listBox1.SelectedItem is my own class, I don't know how to make ListBoxItem out of it to .Focus() it. EDIT: the code Xaml: <UserControl.Resources> <me:BooleanToVisibilityConverter x:Key="visibilityConverter"/> <me:BooleanToItalicsConverter x:Key="italicsConverter"/> </UserControl.Resources> <ListBox x:Name="lbItems"> <ListBox.ItemTemplate> <DataTemplate> <Grid> <ProgressBar HorizontalAlignment="Stretch" VerticalAlignment="Bottom" Visibility="{Binding Path=ShowProgress, Converter={StaticResource visibilityConverter}}" Maximum="1" Margin="4,0,0,0" Value="{Binding Progress}" /> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=VisualName}" FontStyle="{Binding Path=IsFinished, Converter={StaticResource italicsConverter}}" Margin="4" /> </Grid> </DataTemplate> </ListBox.ItemTemplate> <me:OuterItem Name="Regular Folder" IsFinished="True" Exists="True" IsFolder="True"/> <me:OuterItem Name="Regular Item" IsFinished="True" Exists="True"/> <me:OuterItem Name="Yet to be created" IsFinished="False" Exists="False"/> <me:OuterItem Name="Just created" IsFinished="False" Exists="True"/> <me:OuterItem Name="In progress" IsFinished="False" Exists="True" Progress="0.7"/> </ListBox> where OuterItem is: public class OuterItem : IOuterItem { public Guid Id { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public bool IsFolder { get; set; } public bool IsFinished { get; set; } public bool Exists { get; set; } public double Progress { get; set; } /// Code below is of lesser importance, but anyway /// #region Visualization helper properties public bool ShowProgress { get { return !IsFinished && Exists; } } public string VisualName { get { return IsFolder ? "[ " + Name + " ]" : Name; } } #endregion public override string ToString() { if (IsFinished) return Name; if (!Exists) return " ??? " + Name; return Progress.ToString("0.000 ") + Name; } public static OuterItem Get(IOuterItem item) { return new OuterItem() { Id = item.Id, Name = item.Name, IsFolder = item.IsFolder, IsFinished = item.IsFinished, Exists = item.Exists, Progress = item.Progress }; } } ?onverters are: /// Are of lesser importance too (for understanding), but will be useful if you copy-paste to get it working public class BooleanToItalicsConverter : IValueConverter { public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { bool normal = (bool)value; return normal ? FontStyles.Normal : FontStyles.Italic; } public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } public class BooleanToVisibilityConverter : IValueConverter { public object Convert(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { bool exists = (bool)value; return exists ? Visibility.Visible : Visibility.Collapsed; } public object ConvertBack(object value, Type targetType, object parameter, System.Globalization.CultureInfo culture) { throw new NotImplementedException(); } } But most important, is that UserControl.Loaded() has: lbItems.Items.Clear(); lbItems.ItemsSource = fsItems; where fsItems is ObservableCollection<OuterItem>. The usability problem I describe takes place when I Clear() that collection (fsItems) and fill with new items.

  • Nhibernate Guid with PK MySQL

    - by Andrew Kalashnikov
Hello colleagues. I've got a question. I use NHibernate with MySql. At my entities I use Id(PK) for my business-logic usage and Guid(for replication). So my BaseDomain: public class BaseDomain { public virtual int Id { get; set; } public virtual Guid Guid { get; set; } public class Properties { public const string Id = "Id"; public const string Guid = "Guid"; } public BaseDomain() { } } My usage domain: public class ActivityCategory : BaseDomain { public ActivityCategory() { } public virtual string Name { get; set; } public new class Properties { public const string Id = "Id"; public const string Guid = "Guid"; public const string Name = "Name"; private Properties() { } } } Mapping: <class name="ActivityCategory, Clients.Core" table='Activity_category'> <id name="Id" unsaved-value="0" type="int"> <column name="Id" not-null="true"/> <generator class="native"/> </id> <property name="Guid"/> <property name="Name"/> </class> But when I insert my entity: [Test] public void Test() { ActivityCategory ac = new ActivityCategory(); ac.Name = "Test"; using (var repo = new Repository<ActivityCategory>()) repo.Save(ac); } I always get '00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000' at my Guid field. What should I do for generate right Guid. May be mapping? Thanks a lot!

  • JSF Page does not submit when onclick javascript is added to menu item?

    - by Padmarag
I show some detail using popup windows. I want to close those when the user clicks on sign-out link. I have a JavaScript function that'll close the windows. The sign-out link is rendered using Navigation MenuModel. The definition in faces-config is as below - <managed-bean> <managed-bean-name>signoutNavigation</managed-bean-name> <managed-bean-class>com.xxx.xxx.framework.NavigationItem</managed-bean-class> <managed-bean-scope>none</managed-bean-scope> <managed-property> <property-name>label</property-name> <value>Sign Out</value> </managed-property> <managed-property> <property-name>viewId</property-name> <value>/signout.jsp</value> </managed-property> <managed-property> <property-name>outcome</property-name> <value>signout</value> </managed-property> <managed-property> <property-name>onclick</property-name> <value>closeOrderWindows()</value> </managed-property> </managed-bean> The problem is when I use the "onclick" property on managed-bean, the page doesn't submit to "signout.jsp" and remains on same page. When I remove/comment the "onclick" part, the page gets submitted properly. I use MyFaces Trinidad.

  • PHP MySQL Update query

    - by Jordan Pagaduan
I have a website that has an update query. Example. Table name - myTable Table Content - id(AI) name -- myName age -- 13 image -- (no values) birthdate -- (no values) I only put values in name and age. In image and birthdate, I haven't put anything. If I edit it and update it and I don't put anything in name and in age, I only put values in image and in birthdate. The output is like this. (This ouput I wanted) Table name - myTable Table Content - id(AI) name -- myName age -- 13 image -- myImage.jpg birthdate -- Feb. 31, 2010 This is my code: <?php //mysql connect... //mysql select database... $sql = "UPDATE myTable SET name = '".$name."', age = '".$age."', image = '".$image."', birthdate"'$birthdate.."' WHERE id = $id"; mysql_query($sql); ?> I used this code but the output is: Table name - myTable Table Content - id(AI) name -- (no values) age -- (no values) image -- myImage.jpg birthdate -- Feb. 31, 2010 Feel free to ask if you don't understand my question Thank you

  • Why is "wsdl" namespace interjected into action name when using savon for ruby soap communication?

    - by Nick Gorbikoff
I'm trying to access a SOAP service i don't control. One of the actions is called ProcessMessage. I follow example and generate a SOAP request, but I get an error back saying that the action doesn't exist. I traced the problem to the way the body of the envelope is generated. <env:Envelope ... "> <env:Header> <wsse:Security ... "> <wsse:UsernameToken ..."> <wsse:Username>USER</wsse:Username> <wsse:Nonce>658e702d5feff1777a6c741847239eb5d6d86e48</wsse:Nonce> <wsu:Created>2010-02-18T02:05:25Z</wsu:Created> <wsse:Password ... >password</wsse:Password> </wsse:UsernameToken> </wsse:Security> </env:Header> <env:Body> <wsdl:ProcessMessage> <payload> ...... </payload> </wsdl:ProcessMessage> </env:Body> </env:Envelope> That ProcessMessage tag should be : <ProcessMessage xmlns="http://www.starstandards.org/webservices/2005/10/transport"> That's what it is when it is generated by the sample java app, and it works. That tag is the only difference between what my ruby app generates and the sample java app. Is there any way to get rid of the "wsdl:" namesaplce in front of that one tag and add an attribute like that. Barring that, is there a way to make force the action to be not to be generated by just passed as a string like the rest of the body? Here is my code. require 'rubygems' require 'savon' client = Savon::Client.new "https://gmservices.pp.gm.com/ProcessMessage?wsdl" response = client.process_message! do | soap, wsse | wsse.username = "USER" wsse.password = "password" soap.namespace = "http://www.starstandards.org/webservices/2005/10/transport" #makes no difference soap.action = "ProcessMessage" #makes no difference soap.input = "ProcessMessage" #makes no difference #my body at this point is jsut one big xml string soap.body = "<payload>...</payload>" # putting <ProccessMessage> tag here doesn't help as it just creates a duplicate tag in the body, since Savon keeps interjecting <wsdl:ProcessMessage> tag. end Thank you P.S.: I tried handsoap but it doesn't support httpS and is confusing, and I tried soap4r but but it'even more confusing than handsoap.

  • RESTful services architecture question

    - by abovesun
    This is question more about service architecture strategy, we are building big web system based on rest services on back end. And we are currently trying to build some standard internal to follow while developing rest services. Some queries returns list of entities, for example lets consider we have image galleries retrieving service: /gell_all_galeries, returning next response: <galleries> <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <name>my photos</name> <photos> <photo> <id>123</id> <name>my photo</name> <location>http://mysite/photo/show/123</location> ...... <author> <id>some_id</id> <name>some name</name> ....... <author> </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> </photos> </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> </galleries> As you see here, response quite big and heavy, and not always we need such deep info level. Usual solution is to use or http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atom elements for each gallery instead of full gallery data: <galleries> <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <link href="http://mysite/gallery/some_gallery_id"/> </gallery> <gallery> <id>second_gallery_id</id> <link href="http://mysite/gallery/second_gallery_id"/> </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> <gallery> .... </gallery> </galleries> The first question, is next: maybe instead we shouldn't even use and types, and just use generic and for all resources that return list objects: <list> <item><link href="http://mysite/gallery/some_gallery_id"/></item> <item><link href="http://mysite/gallery/other_gallery_id"/></item> <item>....</item> </list> And the second question, after user try to retrieve info about some concrete gallery, he'll use for example http://mysite/gallery/some_gallery_id link, what should he see as results? Should it be: <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <name>my photos</name> <photos> <photo> <id>123</id> <name>my photo</name> <location>http://mysite/photo/show/123</location> ...... <author> <id>some_id</id> <name>some name</name> ....... <author> </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> </photos> </gallery> or : <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <name>my photos</name> <photos> <photo><link href="http://mysite/photo/11111"/></photo> <photo><link href="http://mysite/photo/22222"/></photo> <photo><link href="http://mysite/photo/33333"/> </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> </photos> </gallery> or <gallery> <id>some_gallery_id</id> <name>my photos</name> <photos> <photo> <link href="http://mysite/photo/11111"/> <author> <link href="http://mysite/author/11111"/> </author> </photo> <photo> <link href="http://mysite/photo/22222"/> <author> <link href="http://mysite/author/11111"/> </author> </photo> <photo> <link href="http://mysite/photo/33333"/> <author> <link href="http://mysite/author/11111"/> </author> </photo> <photo> ..... </photo> </photos> </gallery> I mean if we use link instead of full object info, how deep we should go there? Should I show an author inside photo and so on. Probably my question ambiguous, but what I'm trying to do is create general strategy in such cases for all team members to follow in future.
