• Image appearing in the wrong place.

  I have a list that I want to precede on each line with a small image. The CSS: .left div.arrow{background-image: url(../images/design/box.png); float:left; height:15px; width:15px; margin-right:2px;} .left a.list:link, a:visited, a:active {color:black; font-size:0.8em; text-decoration:none; display:block; float:left;} The HTML: <div class="panel">My quick links</div> <div class="arrow"></div> <a href="/messages.php?p=new" class="list">Send a new message</a> <br /> <div class="arrow"></div> <a href="/settings.php#password" class="list">Change my password</a> <br /> <div class="arrow"></div> <a href="/settings.php#picture" class="list">Upload a new site image</a> <br /> As you can see, each image should go before the writing. On the first line, the text "Send a new message" has the preceeding image. However, each line afterwards has the image at the end. So "Send a new message" has an image at the start and finish. It is like the images are staying at the end of the previous line. Any ideas?

• Eclipse Java Content Assist not working

  The Content Assist in Eclipse 3.4 and 3.5 has stopped working for me. When I type in the first few characters of a class and hit CRTL-space then after a delay I get the following error message It does not matter what proposals I enable/disable, I will get this (or similar) message. I have tried: Changing the Xms/Xmx values Starting Eclipse with -clean Creating a new workspace and importing my projects However none of these have worked. I have seen some posts suggesting that other apps may be taking over the CRTL-space or otherwise interfering, however I have nothing aside from a fresh Eclipse running and the problem persists. My problem is very similar to the one covered in this post albeit on a later version and on OSX 10.5.7. Does anyone have any suggestions for how this might be resolved? Thanks. UPDATE: To anyone interested I've had the best results by using Eclipse 3.5 Classic (ie. doesn't include Mylyn). I've also used the settings specified in the bug reports linked to by VonC below. Interestingly Classic doesn't come with some views eg. Snippets, but these are easy to drop in from another distro. UPDATE 2: This problem actually persisted even with the latest versions of Eclipse (3.6 M1). It is caused by a large JAR file generated my Altova Mapforce to handle EDIFACT transformations in our application. It is reproducible by adding this JAR to the buildpath and no changes to Content Assist settings help. The bug (and JAR) can be seen at https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=289057

• How to share the credentials between Webform and Winform?

  Hi! Question: I want to make a login form at the Clickonce deployment webpage, and only allow the authenticated users to download the application. and I want the downloaded application to use the same credentials entered at the webpage, without prompting the users to enter the credentials again. Details: I have an application(Windows Client) which needs customized settings for different users. the application is deployed through ClickOnce. Currently, the users are given the ClickOnce webpage URL, then download the application from there. after download and running the application, the application prompts users with a login form. If their credentials are authenticated, the application loads the customized settings from the server's database according to the credentials given. The problem is, any unauthenticated users can download the application if they just know the ClickOnce deployement webpage's URL. Unauthenticated users won't be able to run the application anyways, because the application asks for credentials when started, but I want to prevent the unauthenticated users from downloading the application at all. Am I asking the wrong question maybe? Your help is much appreciated!

  A problem that I stumbled upon recently, and, even though I solved it, I would like to hear your opinion of what correct/simple/adopted solution would be. I'm developing website using Django + python. When I run it on local machine with "python manage.py runserver", local address is http://127.0.0.1:8000/ by default. However, on production server my app has other url, with path - like "http://server.name/myproj/" I need to generate and use permanent urls. If I'm using {% url view params %}, I'm getting paths that are relative to / , since my urls.py contains this urlpatterns = patterns('', (r'^(\d+)?$', 'myproj.myapp.views.index'), (r'^img/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/img' }), (r'^css/(.*)$', 'django.views.static.serve', {'document_root': settings.MEDIA_ROOT + '/css' }), ) So far, I see 2 solutions: modify urls.py, include '/myproj/' in case of production run use request.build_absolute_uri() for creating link in views.py or pass some variable with 'hostname:port/path' in templates Are there prettier ways to deal with this problem? Thank you. Update: Well, the problem seems to be not in django, but in webfaction way to configure wsgi. Apache configuration for application with URL "hostname.com/myapp" contains the following line WSGIScriptAlias / /home/dreamiurg/webapps/pinfont/myproject.wsgi So, SCRIPT_NAME is empty, and the only solution I see is to get to mod_python or serve my application from root. Any ideas?

• Phonegap / jquery mobile slide transition not workign properly on first call

  I have an awkward visual glitch. I want nice transition when changing pages on the app. Unfortunately first time i change to another page, Instead of sliding current pagg out and new page in , current page is immediately replaces by the new page, then slides out... and when it's out of view it's the new page is shown... the second time around it works like a charm though !!! • Max Daily Budget exceeded and Billing Status "Changing Daily Budget"

  We've exceeded the Max Daily Budget for our app, but we can't increase the budget due to a serious flaw in Google's billing system. Google App Engine and Google Wallet do not have very capable support for multiple sign-in. As a result, I went to change the budget, but it used the wrong Google Wallet account (a different Google Account I was signed in as). I had to go back and try again, but now our GAE app shows the following status: Billing Status: Changing Daily Budget Your account has been locked while we process your budget changes. If you were redirected to Google Checkout but did not complete the process, your settings will remain unchanged. (You will be able to make changes to your budget settings again once the outstanding payment is processed.) Now I'm completely prevented from making any billing changes, our app is shut off (over quota), and I have NOTHING I can do to fix it. This is a seriously fundamental flaw in App Engine's billing system and Google Wallet integration. Has anyone run into this before? Is there a workaround anyone is aware of? Right now, our production app is completely down thanks to this issue. Any help you can offer would be greatly appreciated? If you're from Google and you might be able to help on the backend, our app id is "nhldraftpik". Thanks! Brian

  I am attempting to create a WrapPanel with seamless ImageButtons containing Artwork. I put together the following ContentTemplate in the hopes that it would provide the seamless look required; however a thin white-line remained around each of the buttons. • ODP.NET Procedure Compilation

  When I try to execute a create procedure using ODP.NET I get back ORA-24344: success with compilation error. However, when I run the same statement in SQL Developer it compiles successfully. Does anyone know what I need to change to get my procedure to compile? Is it a character set issue? • MySql Query lag time?

  When there are multiple PHP scripts running in parallel, each making an UPDATE query to the same record in the same table repeatedly, is it possible for there to be a 'lag time' before the table is updated with each query? I have basically 5-6 instances of a PHP script running in parallel, having been launched via cron. Each script gets all the records in the items table, and then loops through them and processes them. However, to avoid processing the same item more than once, I store the id of the last item being processed in a seperate table. So this is how my code works: function getCurrentItem() { $sql = "SELECT currentItemId from settings"; $result = $this->db->query($sql); return $result->get('currentItemId'); } function setCurrentItem($id) { $sql = "UPDATE settings SET currentItemId='$id'"; $this->db->query($sql); } $currentItem = $this->getCurrentItem(); $sql = "SELECT * FROM items WHERE status='pending' AND id > $currentItem'"; $result = $this->db->query($sql); $items = $result->getAll(); foreach ($items as $i) { //Check if $i has been processed by a different instance of the script, and if so, //leave it untouched. if ($this->getCurrentItem() > $i->id) continue; $this->setCurrentItem($i->id); // Process the item here } But despite of all the precautions, most items are being processed more than once. Which makes me think that there is some lag time between the update queries being run by the PHP script, and when the database actually updates the record. Is it true? And if so, what other mechanism should I use to ensure that the PHP scripts always get only the latest currentItemId even when there are multiple scripts running in parrallel? Would using a text file instead of the db help?

• Creating a cocoa Application without nib files/fully pragmatic

  Yes, I know this goes against the whole MVC principle! However, I'm just trying to whip up a pretty trivial application - and I've pretty much implemented it pragmatically. However, I have a problem... I create an Empty Project, copy all the frameworks over and set the build settings - and I get errors about the executable.. or lack of executable. The build settings all appear fine, but it tells me there is no executable - it will build + run fine.. however it doesn't run. There is no error either - it just appears to run very fast and cleanly! Unless I try and run gdb which politely tells me I need to give it a file first.. Running… No executable file specified. Use the "file" or "exec-file" command. So I created a Cocoa Application, removed all the stuff I didn't need (i.e the MainMenu.xib file..) and now I can compile my code perfectly.. however it dies with complaining that its "Unable to load nib file: MainMenu, exiting" I have gone through the Project Symbols and see that the code actually relies upon the nib file heavily, even if you don't touch it code-wise. (MVC again I guess..) So my question is - is there a simple way to compile just what you code, no added nib files, just the code you write and the frameworks you add? I assume it would be a blank project but my experience tells me otherwise?!

• Facebook IFrame Application issues for certain users

  We have a strange issue with running an Facebook IFrame application (using MVC 2). When I run my app and log into Facebook, I get to the application just fine. But when my coworker does it, she gets the following error: API Error Code: 100 API Error Description: Invalid parameter Error Message: Requires valid next URL. Typically this error is resolved by updating the "New Data Permissions" setting of the Facebook application. However, in this case it doesn't help. We've also tried logging in with our accounts from different computers and it seems that neither computer nor which one the MVC ASP.NET app is running from matters. The only difference is who is logged into Facebook. We've looked at our Facebook account settings, but couldn't find any obvious differences. We both have Developer access to the FB application and we both can edit its settings. However, only one of us can actually run the application without getting the above mentioned error message. Any idea what could be happening here?

• PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer vs Filters -- Spring Beans

  Hi there. I've got a question regarding the difference between PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer (org.springframework.beans.factory.config.PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer) and normal filters defined in my pom.xml. I've been looking at examples, and it seems that even though filters are defined and marked to be active by default in the pom.xml they still make use of PropertyPlaceholderConfigurer in Spring's applicationContext.xml. This means that the pom.xml has a reference to a filter-LOCAL.properties while applicationContext.xml has a reference to application.properties and they both contain the same settings. Why is that? Is that how it is supposed to be done? I'm able to run the goal mvn jetty:run without the application.properties present, but if I add settings to the application.properties that differ from the filter-LOCAL.properties they don't seem to override. • Setting White balance and Exposure mode for iphone camera + enum default

  I am using the back camera of an iphone4 and doing the standard and lengthy process of creating an AVCaptureSession and adding to it an AVCaptureDevice. Before attaching the AvCaptureDeviceInput of that camera to the session, I am testing my understanding of white balance and exposure, so I am trying this: [self.theCaptureDevice lockForConfiguration:nil]; [self.theCaptureDevice setWhiteBalanceMode:AVCaptureWhiteBalanceModeLocked]; [self.theCaptureDevice setExposureMode:AVCaptureExposureModeContinuousAutoExposure]; [self.theCaptureDevice unlockForConfiguration]; 1- Given that the various options for white balance mode are in an enum, I would have thought that the default is always zero since the enum Typedef variable was never assigned a value. I am finding out, if I breakpoint and po the values in the debugger, that the default white balance mode is actually set to 2. Unfortunately, the header files of AVCaptureDevice does not say what the default are for the different camera setting. 2- This might sound silly, but can I assume that once I stop the app, that all settings for whitebalance, exposure mode, will go back to their default. So that if I start another app right after, the camera device is not somehow stuck on those "hardware settings".

• UIAlertView choice causing resignFirstResponder to fail

  Hi everyone. I'm having a similar issue to Anthony Chan's question, and after trying every suggested solution, I'm still stuck. Somehow, only after interacting with my UIAlertView, I'm unable to dismiss the keyboard in another view of my app. It's as though the Alert is breaking my UITextField's ability to resignFirstResponder. Below I instantiate my UIAlertView, which then calls its didDismissWIthButtonIndex method. Then, I call the showInfo method, which loads another UIViewController. So I added C:\Python25\Lib\site-packages\django\bin which is the folder of django-admin.py in User variables for shin Variable PATH, Value C:\Program Files\Google\google_appengine\;C:\Python25\Lib\site-packages\django\bin\ Am I supposed to add to System variables??   I'm revising code I did not write that uses JavaMail, and having a little trouble understanding why the JavaMail API is designed the way it is. I have the feeling that if I understood, I could be doing a better job. We call: transport = session.getTransport("smtp"); transport.connect(hostName, port, user, password); So why is Eclipse warning me that this: transport.send(message, message.getAllRecipients()); is a call to a static method? Why am I getting a Transport object and providing settings that are specific to it if I can't use that object to send the message? How does the Transport class even know what server and other settings to use to send the message? It's working fine, which is hard to believe. What if I had instantiated Transport objects for two different servers; how would it know which one to use? In the course of writing this question, I've discovered that I should really be calling: transport.sendMessage(message, message.getAllRecipients()); So what is the purpose of the static Transport.send() method? Is this just poor design, or is there a reason it is this way?

• Starting Beyond Compare from the Command Line

  I have Beyond Compare 3 installed at; "C:\Program Files\Beyond Compare 3\BCompare.exe" and Cygwin; "C:\Cygwin\bin\bash.exe" What I would like is to be able to use a command such as; diff <file1> <file2> into the Cygwin shell and to have the shell fork a process opening the two files in beyond compare. I looked at the Beyond Compare Support Page but I'm afraid It was too brief for me. I tried copying the text verbatim (apart from path to executable) to no avail; Instead of using a batch file, create a file named "bc.sh" with the following line: "$(cygpath 'C:\Progra~1\Beyond~1\bcomp.exe')" `cygpath -w "$6"` `cygpath -w "$7"` /title1="$3" /title2="$5" /readonly Was I supposed to replace cygpath? • A C# Refactoring Question...

  I came accross the following code today and I didn't like it. It's fairly obvious what it's doing but I'll add a little explanation here anyway: Basically it reads all the settings for an app from the DB and the iterates through all of them looking for the DB Version and the APP Version then sets some variables to the values in the DB (to be used later). I looked at it and thought it was a bit ugly - I don't like switch statements and I hate things that carry on iterating through a list once they're finished. So I decided to refactor it. My question to all of you is how would you refactor it? Or do you think it even needs refactoring at all? • django dynamically deduce SITE_ID according to the domain

  I am trying to develop a site which will render multiple customized sites according to the domain name (subdomain to be more precise). My all the domain names are redirected to the So for each site there will be a corresponding model which defines how the site should look (SITE - SITE_SETTINGS) What will be the best way to utilize the django sites framework to get the SITE_ID of the current site from the domain name instead of hard-coding it in the settings files (django sites documentation) and run database queries, render the views accordingly? If using multiple settings file is my only option can this (wsgi script handle domain name) be done? Update So finally, following lukes answer, what I will do is define a custom middleware which makes the views available with the important vars required according to the domain. And as far as sitemaps and comments is concerned, I will have to customize sitemaps app and a custom sites model on which the other models of sites will be based. And since the comments system is based on the hard-coded sitemap ID I can use it just as is on the models (models will already be filtered according to the site based on my sites framework) though the permalink feature will have to be customized. So a lot of customization. Please suggest if I am going wrong anywhere in this because I have to ensure that the features of the project are optimized. Thanks!
