  • find command in Linux

    My goal is to find all pdf files on a remote machine, so I resort to the useful command find. So I type find ~ *.pdf or find ~ "*.pdf" and I get nothing. I do the same on my machine and I get nothing. I do a regular search from the menu on my machine and I find quite a few pdf files. Would somebody please tell me what am I doing wrong?

  • How to route certain applications through a VPN and others to use my 'standard' connection in OSX 10.6?

    I am currently working abroad and use my company's VPN for FTP and some browsing. This is a relatively slow connection and while it is suitable for those VPN necessities; much of my other internet usage can be done without the VPN at a much higher speed. Is there a way to tell Safari and my FTP software to use the VPN and for all other connections to go directly to the internet. I am currently using OSX's Network Prefs for running my VPN connection.     I am trying to install xp on a old laptop (compaq presario 700) with a stored verion of xp that i burn to an iso the copy of xp is legit but it won't boot to it. I am able to boot to the crap recover cd that is basically just dos and to a copy of "ultimate boot cd v5" that i just now downloaded and created from the same computer and burner that the xp cd was made from. everything boots but this xp cd. is there a way to tell if its boot-able

    I use psexec to run a batch script on remote machines.The batch script is used to setup my web application and starts and stops IIS during setup. The script works fine but it fails while stopping and starting IIS.The account I use for remote connection is an admin on that box.   • Uninstaller that can work with failed installs

    I'd like an application that can uninstall applications that does not show up in the normal add/remove applications. I have an application that failed to install properly. It installs half way and then crashes leaving short cuts, folders with exe and config files in and some stuff in the registry. Ideally I would like to be able to point the uninstaller to the install dir and tell it to remove everything that references files in that dir.

  • How can I forward all web traffic from my Cisco ASA 5100 to a checkpoint firewall?

    Hi, I currently have two Cisco ASA 5100 routers setup with a site-to-site VPN at different physical locations. They are successfully configured so that all traffic at our remote site is forwarded over this VPN tunnel to our router here, which is fine, however I need the web traffic that comes here to then be forwarded onto our Check Point firewall router.     Hi Team, While preparing a Word 2007 document, I made a mistake. (Not to say I don't have any other copy of the document) While formatting (as a try) I applied the style "Apply Style to Body to match selection". This caused the document to go totally in a wronfg format - having numbers even in tables. Have you ever faced this? Could you please tell how to correct it? Thanks Lijo

    Hello, A DAS box is attached to my linux box using LSI SCSI HBA. Volume is properly detected on the linux box and filesystem is created using mkfs.ext2 /dev/sdc #No partition table I can not mount the volume using mount/dev/sdc /mnt/temp -t ext3 But I can mount it using mount /dev/sdc /mnt/temp -t ext3 -o loop Can anybody please tell me what "-o loop" option does internally? This makes it quite hard to tell at a glance which exact menu item is highlighted at any one time.     Currently we manually document the connections to the ports of our switches. Of course, maintenance is a chore, and the documentation is out of date as soon as you save it. Are there any tools for querying switches, preferably via SNMP, that can tell you what is connected on the other end? For the record, we use primarily HP ProCurve switches.

    I've been trying to configure my freeradius server on Linux to authenticate users from an existing Active Directory (windows server 2003) and i've already done that. Now i need to assign VLANs to those users and i dont know how to :(. The logical procedure should be with an AD attribute but i haven't found which one nor how to read it from the AD to use it on the freeradius server...
