  • Unable to start phpmyadmin ?

    hi, I did installed xampp on my macbook a day before. It worked perfectly yesterday. But today when I try to start the phpmyadmin it gives the following error: Can't create/write to file '/var/folders/Uu/UuhwtR9xE3Ozsao8ttdIWU+++TI/-Tmp-/#sql1b5_8_0.MYI' (Errcode: 13) Can anybody tell the solution for this problem.   • Replace clock battery on Dell Inspiron 8200?

    I have an old Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop. Still mostly works, but the clock battery has died so everytime I power it on I need to go into the BIOS and set the proper clock time. From what I've been able to tell, replacing this battery is non-trivial, but I haven't found a clear answer. How do I replace the clock battery? And how do I buy a replacement?

  • OpenOffice - make autocorrect keep the original letter case

    I use OpenOffice to write in about 5 languages, using the US keyboard only. I therefore make extensive use of the autocorrect feature to add accents and the like automatically. The problem is that OpenOffice insists on ignoring the letter case I use, and instead it always uses that which I used when setting up the autocorrect. For example, now when I type, in French, "D'apres", it gets converted to "d’après" instead of "D’après". Is there a way to tell OpenOffice not to change the letter case?

  • Get XMMS2 to call outside script on automatic playlist advance?

    Is there a way to get XMMS2 to call an outside script when it advances in a playlist - either automatically or via manual intervention (e.g. xmms2 next)? The goal is to have balloons pop up on my desktop to tell me what new song has started playing, and I really, really don't want to write a background daemon that polls 'xmms2 info' or 'xmms2 current' if there's a way to get it to issue the callback.     Hard drives are transitioning from 512 byte to 4096 byte sector sizes, and it looks like Windows XP won't support these newer drives without additional software (such as WDalign from Western Digital) My question is: how does this affect external hard drives? I'll be buying a 1TB USB external drive, and it'll be plugged into a mix of Windows 7 and XP machines. Is there an easy way to tell what the sector size on an external hard drive is?

  • TTY with 256 colors?

    With URxvt and xterm it is possible to use a virtual terminal supporting 256 colors instead of only eight. Since my Intel GMA graphics card is well-supported by the KMS framebuffer driver, I am exclusively working on the TTY. Unfortunately it only supports eight colors although with MPlayer (-vo fbdev/fbdev2) and other framebuffer tools far more can be addressed. Is there a way to tell the TTY to use more than eight colors?

  • ArcServer creates additional jobs

    We're running CA ARCserve Backup r12.5 (Build 5854) - Small Business Server Edition on our Small Business Server 2008. There is a daily job which saves the systemdrive, exchange and 3 databases to our backup storage. It seems like this daily job creates these additional jobs every time it runs. I don't know why it's doing this. Can anybody tell me why this is happening? (I'm sorry this screenshot is in german... "Ergänzungsjob" means something like "extensionjob" or "additionjob")

  • find command in Linux to locate pdf files

    My goal is to find all pdf files on a remote machine, so I resort to the useful command find. So I type find ~ *.pdf or find ~ "*.pdf" and I get nothing. I do the same on my machine and I get nothing. I do a regular search from the menu on my machine and I find quite a few pdf files. Would somebody please tell me what am I doing wrong?

    I know I can assign different wallpaper for each monitor that is connected to my computer in Windows 8(by right clicking and selecting "set for monitor 1,2,etc"), but I don't know how to assign different wallpaper slideshow or different theme for each monitor. Can anyone tell me how to do that? It is quite interesting to see different wallpapers on different monitors, but seeing static wallpaper on each of those monitors is no fun. thanks

    I run check disk pretty regularly on my hard drive, and lately it's been saying that I have some bad sectores (66, to be exact). I've run smartctl and HD Tune. Both tell me that I have bad sectors and the drive is in "pre-fail" stage. The drive is only a couple of years old. How worried should I be? My drive is a FUJITSU MHW2160BJ FFS G2

The pages are indexed by google and have the following structure http://mypage.com/myfolder/page.apsx The new structure is http://mypage.com/page.aspx Now all urls that google knows are wrong. How can I tell google to reindex and that the structure has changed? Internally I redirect in ASP.NET when the url contains the myfolder by I want google to update the urls.

    Hi All, I know this is weird, but is there a .plist or key that I can edit to make the Finder use a different folder besides ~/Desktop for its Desktop folder? Why? Because I really like the BumpTop Desktop for Mac, but when I am not using it, I want my actual Finder Desktop to be of different contents. BumpTop only looks at ~/Desktop that I can tell.

    I am writing a script that uses MS KB 823732 to temporarily prevent users from plugging in new USB storage devices. This works fine, and the HKLM\...\Services\UsbStor registry key successfully blocks newly-connected devices from being accessed. Is there a WMI event that will tell me that a drive was connected, regardless of whether it was mounted? I tried querying for __InstanceCreationEvent but that is apparently raised only after the drive is mounted and made available, which doesn't fit my requirements.

    Can anyone tell me which BES IT policy option controls the radio being disabled when the device first starts up. I have been given an IT policy which when applied to a user causes the radio on the device to be off by default when it starts up, requiring the user to activate it every time (after entering his password). When the default policy is applied this does not happen, so it is an option in the IT policy that has caused it. Does anyone know which of the options this is?

    Looking to install php on a 08 box already holding iis/sql box. I've tried the webinstaller a couple times but the installer locks before completion or managing to echo any sort of error message. Before hunting down a manual install how-to i wonder if the box is trying to tell me something i should be paying attention to.   • Telnet disconnected on login failure

    Hi, I have two servers running Linux 2.6.9 kernel. When i telnet to server1 , the telnet will be disconnected only after 3 login failures. While, when i telnet to server2, telnet will be disconnected after the first login failure. I expect server2 to behave the same way as server1 when telnet is executed.   • Ubuntu says FAT16, windows says NTF?

    I created a partition on USB harddisk in windows and it reports to be an NTFS partition. Yet in ubuntu 9.10 fdisk says it a FAT16 partition. If I mount with -t ntfs I see nothing, but if I mount without it I see all the files. Can anyone tell me whats going on here? Windows computer disk management definately says its NTFS, and a quick look at the raw data suggests it is NTFS, as I know the FAT16 very well.
