  • How to access an Exchange 2010 mailbox from Outlook 2010 not in the domain?

    Assuming there exists a user with a laptop that is not part of the domain, is it possible for an Outlook 2010 on this machine to access mailbox, calendar and the rest associated with the user's mailbox on an Exchange 2010 server? OWA is a solution, but given the significance of the user, it would be very handy if the same could be achieved with Outlook 2010 and without his laptop joining the domain.

  • Critical Patch Updates During EBS 11i Exception to Sustaining Support Period

    As previously blogged in the EBS 11i and 12.1 Support Timeline Changes entry, two important changes to the Oracle Lifetime Support policies were announced at Oracle OpenWorld 2012 - San Francisco.  These changes affect E-Business Suite Releases 11i and 12.1. Critical Patch Updates for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support Period You may be wondering about the availability of Critical Patch Updates (CPU) for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support period.  The following details the E-Business Suite Critical Patch Update support policy for EBS 11i during the Exception to Sustaining Support period: Oracle will continue to provide CPUs containing critical security fixes for E-Business Suite 11i.  CPUs will be packaged and released as as cumulative patches for both ATG RUP 6 and ATG RUP 7. As always, we try to minimize the number of patches and dependencies required for uptake of a CPU; however, there have been quite a few changes to the 11i baseline since its release.  For dependency reasons the 11i CPUs may require a higher number of files in order to bring them up to a consistent, stable, and well tested level. EBS 11i customer will continue to receive CPUs up to and including the October 2014 CPU. Where can I learn more? There are two interlocking policies that affect the E-Business Suite:  Oracle's Lifetime Support policies for each EBS release (timelines which were updated by this announcement), and the Error Correction Support policies (which state the minimum baselines for new patches).   • New MyOracleSupport (MOS)Interface Coming 13 July 2012

    On July 13, 2012, we plan to upgrade the My Oracle Support HTML-based user interface (UI) with additional functionality that will allow those users remaining on the Flash-based user interface to switch over to the HTML version. Our goal is to provide a single-online support portal so that all My Oracle Support users can benefit from the same features and functionality. Prior to July 13, 2012, users of Oracle On Demand, Oracle CRM On Demand, Taleo, and Oracle Configuration Manager should continue accessing the My Oracle Support Flash-based user interface. After July 13, 2012, the above features and functionality to support these users will be available on the HTML interface. All other users of My Oracle Support can make the switch now. Benefits of using the HTML-based user interface include: Streamlined, three-step process for initiating new Service Requests (SRs) Single, consistent workflow for both hardware and software incidents Enhanced personalization and filtering within the user interface New accessibility features (enabling screen readers, large fonts, etc.) Additionally, please note Internet Explorer 6 (IE6) will no longer be supported.   • Plans for Java 7 and E-Business Suite Certification

    As of June 2012, Java 7 has not been certified yet with Oracle E-Business Suite.  EBS customers should continue to run JRE 6 on their Windows end-user desktops, and JDK 6 on their EBS servers. Our plans for certifying Java 7 for the E-Business Suite We plan on releasing the Java 7 certification for E-Business Suite customers in two phases: Phase 1: Certify JRE 7 for Windows end-user desktops Phase 2: Certify JDK 7 for server-based components When will Java 7 be certified with EBS? We're working on the first phase now. As usual, I cannot discuss release dates here, but you can monitor or subscribe to this blog for updates. Current known issues with JRE 7 in EBS environments Our current testing shows that there are known incompatibilities between JRE 7 and the Forms-invocation process in EBS environments.  We have been working directly with the Java division on this for a while now.  In the meantime, EBS customers should not deploy JRE 7 to their end-user Windows desktop clients. You should stick with JRE 1.6 for now.  But wait, you previously said... Older JRE certification announcements stated: Our standard policy is that all E-Business Suite customers can apply all JRE updates to end-user desktops from JRE 1.6.0_03 and higher.  We test all new JRE releases in parallel with the JRE development process, so all JRE releases are considered certified with the E-Business Suite on the same day that they're released by our Java team.  You do not need to wait for a certification announcement before applying new JRE releases to your EBS users' desktops. Yes, this is true.  This standard boilerplate text was written before JRE 7 was released, so there was no possibility of misunderstanding.  With the availability of JRE 7, that boilerplate needs to be revised to read: Our standard policy is that all E-Business Suite customers can apply all JRE updates to end-user desktops from JRE 1.6.0_03 and later updates on the 1.6 codeline.  We test all new JRE 1.6 releases in parallel with the JRE development process, so all new JRE 1.6 releases are considered certified with the E-Business Suite on the same day that they're released by our Java team.  You do not need to wait for a certification announcement before applying new JRE 1.6 releases to your EBS users' desktops.   • Exchange ActiveSync is not working with Android's 'verify certificate' setting, what do I need to do to make them work together?

    All other methods of Activesync and web access to my Exchange server are working fine with no errors or issues, but when we attempt to configure Android phones for the server, it will only work with 'verify certificate' checked off. Ideally, I'd like my users to be able to use the default configuration, which includes the 'Verify Certificate' option. My primary question is: 'What does Verify Certificate do?', as I imagine if I knew that, I might have some idea why it isn't working.
