  • Strange behaviour on postback in ASP.NET

    - by C-King
    I'm working on a website with a login form. To log in, a postback is used to an OnClick handler in the codebehind. Somehow, the value returned from the Text-property of the username and password textboxes is ten times the value I entered, separated by commas. I checked my entire code for double ID's (which seems to be the most common problem causing this behaviour), but I found each ID defined only once. In the ASPX file I have this: <asp:Label ID="lblFeedback" ForeColor="Red" Font-Bold="true" runat="server" Visible="false" /><br /> <asp:Panel ID="pnlLogin" runat="server"> <table style="border-style: none;"> <tr> <td> <asp:Label ID="lblUsername" AssociatedControlID="txtUsername" runat="server" /> </td> <td> <asp:TextBox ID="txtUsername" runat="server" /><br /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> <asp:Label ID="lblPassword" AssociatedControlID="txtPassword" runat="server" /> </td> <td> <asp:TextBox ID="txtPassword" runat="server" TextMode="password" /><br /> </td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td> <asp:Button ID="btnLogin" OnClick="btnLogin_Click" runat="server" /> </td> </tr> </table> </asp:Panel> The OnClick handler in the Codebehind: protected void btnLogin_Click(object sender, EventArgs e) { string username = Util.Escape(txtUsername.Text); string password = Util.Escape(txtPassword.Text); WebsiteUser user = WebsiteUser.Create(username, password); if (user != null) { //Set some session variables and redirect to user profile } else { lblFeedback.Text = Localizer.Translate("INVALID_LOGIN"); lblFeedback.ForeColor = Color.Red; lblFeedback.Visible = true; pnlLogin.Visible = true; } } The website is running on ASP.NET 2.0 on ISS 5.1 (Win XP Pro)

    - by user261935
    Hello, I'm trying to open a write-protected ms excel 2007 file using win32com in python -- I know the password. I can open it with user input of the password into the excel dialog box. I want to be able to open the file without any user interaction. I've tried the following, but it still pops up the dialog box. app.Workbooks.Open("filename.xls", WriteResPassword="secret") Any ideas what I'm doing wrong please? Thanks, Dave.

  • Why no Win16 support in 64-bit Windows?

    - by dsimcha
    My understanding (from Wikipedia) is that the x64 instruction set supports executing 16-bit protected mode code from long mode, but cannot execute real mode code without being switched out of long mode because long mode lacks virtual 8086 mode. Therefore, it stands to reason that real mode DOS apps can't be run in Win64 w/o software emulation or dynamic translation. However, why was support for Win16 protected-mode apps excluded when support for them seems (at least at first glance) to be reasonably implementable and is included in newer versions of Win32? Was it just a matter of demand not being high enough to justify implementation costs (and the win32 version was already implemented), or is there a good technical reason?

  • ask help: I need to create a demo application in Java to test my new designed Java Api

    - by Christophe
    A new programmer needs yourhelp. I'm working on a porject of re-developement of Java driver for the company's PIN pad terminals. the Java Api (CPXApplicationUpdate) will allow the applications in pinpads to be updated and to be downloaded at different speed (Baud rate). the Java Api was created. i followed the protocolto build the message. the message is to send to a RS-232 port. i'm trying to use setter and getter to let the code work as an API. import java.io.InputStream; import java.io.OutputStream; import java.util.Properties; public class CPXApplicationUpdate extends CPXCommand { private int speed; // TODO: temporary variable for baud rate test stub. // speed: baud rate of the maintenance application performing DL /** Creates a new instance of CPXApplicationUpdate */ public CPXApplicationUpdate() { speed = 9600; // no baud rate change CPXProcessor.logger.fine("-------CPXApplicationUpdate constructor"); // setParam("timeout", _cmdInfo.getDefaultParValue("timeout")); } public CPXApplicationUpdate(int speedinit) { speed = speedinit; // TODO: where to get the speed? wait for user input. • How can I deny users to add/modify/remove printers to cups ?

    - by ajcaruana
    Hi, I am using Mac OS X 10.6. I wrote a program which will add and remove printers to a CUPS server using libcups. It works, but now I am considering the security aspects. This program takes a user name and password to authenticate on the CUPS server. Whatever user name and password I use, it works as long as it is valid on the system. How do I restrict access to only a specific user ? Regards Alan

  • Solution for ora-1017 error for odp.net 2.111.7.0 ?

    - by Prithis
    Hi, As you are aware Oracle 11g has new facility of case sensitive password. We want to make use of it. When my C# application connects to oracle databse using ODP.Net 2.111.7.0 I am getting ora-1017 error. When we switch off this case sensitive feature it works without any change to the connection string. Any idea what is missing? is there any escape sequence we can use to specify lowercase characters in password? Thanks

  • How do I convert this cURL command to PHP (libcurl)?

    - by Daddy Warbox
    In continuation off of this question, what are the PHP statements I need to accomplish this: curl -is -F 'J:A-login=BTDT::Action::Login' -F 'J:A:F-address-login=EMAILADDRESS' -F 'J:A:F-password-login=PASSWORD' http://hiveminder.com/splash | grep -o 'JIFTY_SID_HIVEMINDER=[0-9a-f]\+' The flags and fields are still mysterious, and I've not the time presently to swim through docs to figure out how this translates. I do at least understand the | grep ... portion, though.

  • Persistence scheme & state data for low memory situations (iphone)

    - by Robin Jamieson
    What happens to state information held by a class's variable after coming back from a low memory situation? I know that views will get unloaded and then reloaded later but what about some ancillary classes & data held in them that's used by the controller that launched the view? Sample scenario in question: @interface MyCustomController: UIViewController { ServiceAuthenticator *authenticator; } -(id)initWithAuthenticator:(ServiceAuthenticator *)auth; // the user may press a button that will cause the authenticator // to post some data to the service. -(IBAction)doStuffButtonPressed:(id)sender; @end @interface ServiceAuthenticator { BOOL hasValidCredentials; // YES if user's credentials have been validated NSString *username; NSString *password; // password is not stored in plain text } -(id)initWithUserCredentials:(NSString *)username password:(NSString *)aPassword; -(void)postData:(NSString *)data; @end The app delegate creates the ServiceAuthenticator class with some user data (read from plist file) and the class logs the user with the remote service. inside MyAppDelegate's applicationDidFinishLaunching: - (void)applicationDidFinishLaunching:(UIApplication *)application { ServiceAuthenticator *auth = [[ServiceAuthenticator alloc] initWithUserCredentials:username password:userPassword]; MyCustomController *controller = [[MyCustomController alloc] initWithNibName:...]; controller.authenticator = auth; // Configure and show the window [window addSubview:..]; // make everything visible [window makeKeyAndVisible]; } Then whenever the user presses a certain button, 'MyCustomController's doStuffButtonPressed' is invoked. -(IBAction)doStuffButtonPressed:(id)sender { [authenticator postData:someDataFromSender]; } The authenticator in-turn checks to if the user is logged in (BOOL variable indicates login state) and if so, exchanges data with the remote service. The ServiceAuthenticator is the kind of class that validates the user's credentials only once and all subsequent calls to the object will be to postData. Once a low memory scenario occurs and the associated nib & MyCustomController will get unloaded -- when it's reloaded, what's the process for resetting up the 'ServiceAuthenticator' class & its former state? I'm periodically persisting all of the data in my actual model classes. Should I consider also persisting the state data in these utility style classes? Is that the pattern to follow?

If i use my localhost i get the answer fast, but when i connect to outside my localhost it takes 50sc - 1.5 min to response and the program frezz until it done. • Webservice for uploading data: security considerations

    - by Philip Daubmeier
    Hi everyone! Im not sure about what authentification method I should use for my webservice. I've searched on SO, and found nothing that helped me. Preliminary Im building an application that uploads data from a local database to a server (running my webservice), where all records are merged and stored in a central database. I am currently binary serializing a DataTable, that holds a small fragment of the local database, where all uninteresting stuff is already filtered out. The byte[] (serialized DataTable), together with the userid and a hash of the users password is then uploaded to the webservice via SOAP. The application together with the webservice already work exactly like intended. The Problem The issue I am thinking about is now: What is if someone just sniffs the network traffic, 'steals' the users id and password hash to send his own SOAP message with modified data that corrupts my database? Options The approaches to solving that problem, I already thought of, are: Using ssl + certificates for establishing the connection: I dont really want to use ssl, I would prefer a simpler solution. After all, every information that is transfered to the webservice can be seen on the website later on. What I want to say is: there is no secret/financial/business-critical information, that has to be hidden. I think ssl would be sort of an overkill for that task. Encrypting the byte[]: I think that would be a performance killer, considering that the goal of the excercise was simply to authenticate the user. Hashing the users password together with the data: I kind of like the idea: Creating a checksum from the data, concatenating that checksum with the password-hash and hashing this whole thing again. That would assure the data was sent from this specific user, and the data wasnt modified. The actual question So, what do you think is the best approach in terms of meeting the following requirements? Rather simple solution (As it doesnt have to be super secure; no secret/business-critical information transfered) Easily implementable retrospectively (Dont want to write it all again :) ) Doesnt impact to much on performance What do you think of my prefered solution, the last one in the list above? Is there any alternative solution I didnt mention, that would fit better? You dont have to answer every question in detail. Just push me in the right direction. I very much appreciate every well-grounded opinion. Thanks in advance!

  • Problem detaching entire object graph in GAE-J with JDO

    - by tempy
    I am trying to load the full object graph for User, which contains a collection of decks, which then contains a collection of cards, as such: User: @PersistenceCapable(detachable = "true") @Inheritance(strategy = InheritanceStrategy.SUBCLASS_TABLE) @FetchGroup(name = "decks", members = { @Persistent(name = "_Decks") }) public abstract class User { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) protected Key _ID; @Persistent protected String _UniqueIdentifier; @Persistent(mappedBy = "_Owner") @Element(dependent = "true") protected Set<Deck> _Decks; protected User() { } } Each Deck has a collection of Cards, as such: @PersistenceCapable(detachable = "true") @FetchGroup(name = "cards", members = { @Persistent(name = "_Cards") }) public class Deck { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key _ID; @Persistent String _Name; @Persistent(mappedBy = "_Parent") @Element(dependent = "true") private Set<Card> _Cards = new HashSet<Card>(); @Persistent private Set<String> _Tags = new HashSet<String>(); @Persistent private User _Owner; } And finally, each card: @PersistenceCapable public class Card { @PrimaryKey @Persistent(valueStrategy = IdGeneratorStrategy.IDENTITY) private Key _ID; @Persistent private Text _Question; @Persistent private Text _Answer; @Persistent private Deck _Parent; } I am trying to retrieve and then detach the entire object graph. I can see in the debugger that it loads fine, but then when I get to detaching, I can't make anything beyond the User object load. (No Decks, no Cards). At first I tried without a transaction to simply "touch" all the fields on the attached object before detaching, but that didn't help. Then I tried adding everything to the default fetch group, but that just generated warnings about GAE not supporting joins. I tried setting the fetch plan's max fetch depth to -1, but that didn't do it. Finally, I tried using FetchGroups as you can see above, and then retrieving with the following code: PersistenceManager pm = _pmf.getPersistenceManager(); pm.setDetachAllOnCommit(true); pm.getFetchPlan().setGroup("decks"); pm.getFetchPlan().setGroup("cards"); Transaction tx = pm.currentTransaction(); Query query = null; try { tx.begin(); query = pm.newQuery(GoogleAccountsUser.class); //Subclass of User query.setFilter("_UniqueIdentifier == TheUser"); query.declareParameters("String TheUser"); List<User> results = (List<User>)query.execute(ID); //ID = Supplied parameter //TODO: Test for more than one result and throw if(results.size() == 0) { tx.commit(); return null; } else { User usr = (User)results.get(0); //usr = pm.detachCopy(usr); tx.commit(); return usr; } } finally { query.closeAll(); if (tx.isActive()) { tx.rollback(); } pm.close(); } This also doesn't work, and I'm running out of ideas...

  • Why is file sharing over internet still working, despite all firewall exceptions for filesharing being disabled?

    - by Triynko
    Every exception in my windows server firewall that starts with "File and Printer Sharing" is disabled (ordered by name, so that includes domain, public (active), and private profiles). The Network and Sharing Center's options for everything except password protected sharing are off. Why would I still be able to access a network share on that server via an address like "\\my.server.com\" over the internet? The firewall is on for all profiles and blocking incoming connections by default. A "netstat -an" command on the server reveals the share connection is occurring over port 445 (SMB). I restarted the client to ensure it was actually re-establishing a new connection successfully. Is the "Password protected sharing: On" option in Network and Sharing Center bypassing the firewall restrictions, or adding some other exception somewhere that I'm missing? EDIT: "Custom" rules are not the problem. It's the "built-in" rules for Terminal Services that was the problem. Can you believe port 445 (File Sharing Port) has to be wide open to the internet to use Terminal Services Licensing?)

Protocol: --------------- Request for the command processing, with optional extra byte for changing Baud Rate: LGT : length message ( LGT = 5 ) TYPE : 0x06 TO(time out): 0x0000 CMD : (1 byte) 0x02 application update Baud Rate : (1 byte) 0xNN (optional parameter to change baud rate of the Mnt App) where NN can be: 0x00 = No Baud Rate Change (similar to 4-byte command above) 0x09 = Change to 9600 Baud for Application Update speed 0x0A = Change to 19200 Baud for Application Update speed 0x0E = Change to 115200 Baud for Application Update speed All other bytes are not accepted and will result in a status of 0x01. ------------------ I'm trying to test if my code works or not by creating another class (TestApplication.java) and pass the "3 differenr Baut rate" to this CPXAppliaction. the 3 Baud Rate is supposed to input by reading a file.txt. Question: How do you think these code (first half)? please don't warry about the details about the "sending part". I mean, do I need setter/getter for the "speed" parameter pass? I created the demo test class DemoApp.java (input speed by reading a txt file, and pass into CPXAppliaction). how do you think about that code? Many thanks to you guys!! public class CPXApplication extends CPXCommand { private int speed; . public CPXApplication() { speed = 9600; } public CPXApplication(int speedinit) { speed = speedinit; // TODO: where to get the speed? } protected void buildRequest() throws ElitePortException { String trans = ""; // build the full-qualified message following the protocol trans = addToRequest(trans, (char) 0); trans = addToRequest(trans, (char) 5); trans = addToRequest(trans, (char) 6); trans = addToRequest(trans, (char) 0); trans = addToRequest(trans, (char) 0); trans = addToRequest(trans, (char) 2); switch (speed) { case 9600: trans = addToRequest(trans, (char) 0x09); break; case 19200: trans = addToRequest(trans, (char) 0x0A); break; case 115200: trans = addToRequest(trans, (char) 0x0E); break; default: // TODO: unexpected baud rate. throw(); break; } trans = EncryptBinary(trans); trans = "F0." + trans; wrapRequest(trans); } protected String addToRequest(String req, char c) { return req + c; } protected String addToRequest(String req, String s) { return req + s; } protected String addToRequest(String req) { return req; } public void analyzeResponse() { //.............. } } Here is the demo test code: package com.ingenico.testApp; import com.ingenico.EliteFd.; import java.util.Scanner; import java.io.; class Run { public static void run() { CPXAppliactionUpdate input = new CpXApplicationUpdate(); int lineno = 0; try { FileReader fr = new FileReader("baudRateSpeed.txt"); BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(fr); String line = reader.readLine(); Scanner scan = null; while (line != null) { scan = new Scanner(line); String speed; speed = scan.next(); if (lineno == 0) { input.speed = speed; lineno++; } else { input = cpxapplicationupdate(speed, input); } line = reader.readLine(); } reader.close(); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { System.out.println("Could not find the file"); } catch (IOException e) { System.out.println("Had a problem reading from file"); } } public class DemoApp{ public void main(String args[]) { run(); } } }

  • Both OpenID and normal Login on the same View?

    - by PlayKid
    Hi there, Is there any site that show both OpenID and normal login on the same view? Most of the sites either have OpenID implementation or Normal Login implementation on different views. I tried to do that, but it seems my code is very dirty, passing a blank username and password if using OpenID, otherwise OpenID will be blank but passed the username and password. But then I lose the capability of verifying whether the user has entered the correct values, is there any best practice for me to do that? Thanks a lot

  • Directory on another machine - Login credentials

    - by Adam Witko
    My application needs to access files on a remote machine that requires a username and password for accessing it. I'm trying to find out if a directory exists (using Directory.Exists) to verify I can make the 'connection. Is there a way to supply the username and password when working with remote directories? Currently Exists returns false. Cheers,
