  I am trying to understand the technology which many news websites use please have a look at this website http://www.shritimes.com/ if you click any news item then the particular thing gets zoomed and viewer can read the news as far as I can understand they have done some programming by which a gif image is opened up in a new pop up, can some one help to understand as what thing is used here javascript,html, php or what exactly? I have seen this feature in a lot of websites I want to know how it is achieved? I am looking from the code side of the things if some one can advise me any function call which does this I am a programmer but into C I am new to web kind of things.

• Lining things up while using columns

  I have a request that may not be possible. I'd like to line up the elements of a form so that the inputs all start at the same place: Name: [ ] Company: [ ] Some question with a long name: [ ] But my list is (somewhat) long and I would like to show them in multiple columns on screens that are wide enough. Ideally, I'd find a POSH method (table-free is semantically appropriate, I think) that works on a reasonable number of browsers. My current page uses a table. I tried CSS with columns: auto; -moz-column-count: auto; -moz-column-width: auto; -webkit-column-count: auto; -webkit-column-width: auto; but Firefox (at least) won't break a table across columns.

• IE issues with my Website (Help me fix my CSS)

  I'm struggling geting my website to test fully positive in IE, the following problems keep arising, only in IE; My '#grey box' div displaying 200px to the left out of place, and it seems to move with the adjustment of the IE window size, does this in no other browsers, just IE. It creates this unnecessary horizontal scroll. I have the width set to pretty large, but have "overflow: hidden" and again, works fine across except for IE. On a few of my pages, the footer is somewhat cropped and out of place. • Website migration is not working for all computers

  We got 2 servers on same network, Server-A and Server-B. On Server-A (widows server 2003), we have IIS 5.2 and our website was hosted on it few month ago (about 7-8 months). We bought a new server, Server-B (Windows Server 2008) with IIS 7.5 and copied our old website on this new machine. On our router, we forward the port 80 to Server-B. The Server-A is still on because we need to access some old data by our old website. I would like to access it with it's internal Ip (192.168.1.xxx/mywebsite) On my Windows 7 computer, if I write www.example.com or example.com (without www.), I'm being redirected to Server-B and I can see our new interface. On some Windows Vista computer, example.com (without www.) redirect to Server-B, but if I write www.example.com, I'm still on Server-A. In our website code (on Server-B), we sometimes redirect with a "www." so this is causing some error because we are trying to access a webpage that exist on Server-B but not Server-A and because the www.example I compared 2 computers with Vista Home on them and Internet Options looks the same. I cannot figure why this is happening

  Hi I have a Magento installation linked with a Google Analytics account. It works very well in that I can see conversions, I can see the products that are selling directly from analytics and I can get an overview of traffic sources for those sales. What I can't work out how to track/see is what keywords are being used by the customers that are completing sales. Can anybody let me know how this data can be gathered or if it's even possible? (is this possibly a privacy issue?)

  Is it possible with PHP to dynamically toggle CNAME entries? For example I have two mirrors with media to be served on my website. Mirror 1 has a monthly bandwidth cap so upon reaching it I want to automatically toggle to mirror 2. I want to use CNAME because the resulting urls appear to be identical to search engines, an SEO friendly approach. If there are SEO friendly alternatives I'd like to hear them as well.

• Gradient and window re sizing with css [migrated]

  The situation: A table with width set to 100%, that has a cell inside with 1000px width. The table is centered, and so is the cell. I would like to have a gradient from left to right, and right to left that would end at the beginning of the centered cell, with the same color as the cell. The problem is, to occupy the whole page, no matter what size the browser is, the table is set to 100%, the cell is set to 1000px so it'll never change its size, How can i achieve, if possible, what i want, making sure that in smaller resolutions/monitors or with window re sizing, the gradient will stop at the beginning of that cell, since gradients are set with percentage?

  I'm studing a way to create my company domain based on it's name. Consider that my company's name is Another Store and I want to register a domain like anothersto.re - this is just an example. That domain is strictly chosen by marketing. What happens is that my company is stabilished in Brazil and our domain here is .br. The .re domain stands for an island near France so haves nothing to do with my country. If that domain is chosen what it can imply about SEO questions? Did it will have any influence on search engines results considering that they look over user's region? This kind of domain use became common between modern companies - and marketing strategies - and that is why I'm considering it.

  I'm keen to use some of the new features in Google Universal Analytics. I have an old site though that I don't want to lose the historical data for. The comparisons with historical data are interesting for example. However Google doesn't appear to allow you to change a property from the classic code to the new code. Am I missing something? I'm surprised this isn't a bigger issue for many other users.

• Prevent azure subdomain indexation

  Let me explain my situation, I have an azure website (with azurewebsites.net sub domain), and a custom domain.com, built with asp.net MVC Both are being indexed by Google, but I've noticed the custom domain is being penalized and it doesn't show up in results, it only shows when I search for "site:domain.com" I want to remove and block the azurewebsites.net subdomain from Google. I've read the "possible" solutions: Adding robots.txt: won't work, because the subdomain and the domain are the exact same content, so subdomain.azures.net/robots.txt will lead to domain.com/robots.txt, removing the domain as well. Adding the tag, is the same situation as the previous point. I'm using a CNAME register to redirect the domain to the subdomain, so I can't redirect to a sub directory. Do you have any other ideas?

  Hey all, Recently, I uploaded a new site to an existing domain and I'd like to figure out how I can forward all links to said domain to a new domain. I'm looking for a wordpress solution if possible, but in the end I I seem myself writing a small header script that I will paste into ever directory's index file saying header('Location:http://xxx.yyy.zzz') Is there a cleaner way to do this without having to resort to managing the whole file structure? • Easy way to identify pages which are index, but not linked to on my site

  I'm just wondering if there is an easy way to find out what pages Google has indexed, that are not directly linked on my site, for example: www.mysite.com/skype.html originally had a link in my site menu, but this link was removed. The page is still available when the url is typed directly, but there is no direct link to it. I don't want Google indexing this page any more and want to put a 'disallow' in my robots.txt.

I have an image inside a container, and to allow for multiple screen sizes, I am setting all dimensions in % rather than pixels. in iphone portrait mode, everything is fine. • Why did my Google links disappear after a redesign?

  I recently did a complete redesign of my site. As soon as Google picked up the changes (I could tell because the excerpt in the search results was brought up to date), I noticed that my traffic slowed by about 30%. I started to investigate, ran a "link:" query on my site and saw only two links there. I know there are many more links to my site, mostly from reputable sources like magazines and large blogs. Why aren't these links showing up anymore? There's nothing even remotely spammy about my site, so I don't see why there would be weirdness going on.

  I had my website on rohbits.com but for some reasons I had to delete it and recreate it with this URL wwww.rohbits.com/blog. My problem is that the old links are still visible on google search and when people click on those links, they land on a 404 Error page of the hosting company. I want to either delete all the previous data from the search engines or have an 404 Error page of my own so that I can tell my visitors where the actual website is. I have already redirected all the traffic which comes to rohbits.com to www.rohbits.com/blog but when they click on the expired links, they get this error page.   I'm trying to determine the best possible schema.org type to declare for the content section in the template of a content management system, which will handle regular news posts for small, local hospitality businesses. The type should represent the content of that page, which is likely to be a wide range of things. The description for Article pretty strongly encourages its use to be limited to the articles of a publication. For purely semantic reasons, I'm not sure if Blog is appropriate in this case -- businesses won't be creating typical "blog" content but are more likely to be writing about upcoming events, special deals, awards, etc. Would Webpage be appropriate in this instance? Although I'm a fan of the schema.org concept, I frequently find myself unsure how broadly or narrowly I'm meant to infer the meaning of a type. In such cases, is it safe to use a high-level element, such as CreativeWork, or does this blunt the usefulness of the markup?

We have partnered with a vendor that has built a site for our staff to order customized stationery, etc. I need to create a link on the SharePoint site that will take the user to the external site but identify them individually. The vendor is suggesting this format: https://www.VENDORSITE.com/UI/Profile.hcf?id=a02b8106-4115-47cd-bca7-ce4dd447ef89&username=<user name>&password=<password>&name1=<first name>&name2=<last name>&email=<email> Here's the problem: I don't know how to pass that info, or even a single variable, from the SharePoint site to the external site. (i will use a video hosting platform with api like fliqz.com) I must manage a big user system.. where users can create their own "sub-users"... the site must manage paid subscriptions and payments through paypal.. and other payment gateways... So the question is.. i have to use a pre-built CMS and extend it.. or just a good framework? I've been thinking about joomla, drupal and expressionengine... It's not neccesary to use a open source cms... I've looking at drupal.. but is not as easy to understand and extend... Can anyone help me to make a good decision?

• If my URL's are static, but then parsed by Javascript, does that make it crawlable?

This allows for the actual href to be seen by crawlers, but gives client-side users with JS enabled an ajax-based website. Does this 'help' the general SEO issues that come along with hashtags? I know hashbangs are 'ok', but afaik they aren't reliable?

• Specific website not working on my connection [closed]

  For some reason, the website http://www.woopra.com/ doesn't work well (shows as plain html, no css/images/JS) on my computer and my Android tablet (they both share the same internet connection). It does however, work on my WP 7.5 phone (3G). When I try to set a wifi hotspot and use the tablet it still doesn't work (tried to clean cache). I tried FF, Chrome and IE (multiple versions). What is going on here? I'm clueless! Thanks.
