• Vhost in Apache only working locally?

  Ok, I have added lines like: 127.0.0.1 somedomain.com Or some other domain that points to my routers IP, and is forwarded, but I get to the main site, but I want it to go to the subfolder I defined in my httpd-vhosts.conf: NameVirtualHost somedomain.com:80 <VirtualHost somedomain.com:80> DocumentRoot "D:/Apps/xampp/htdocs/somedomain" ServerName somedomain.com ServerAlias somedomain.com </VirtualHost> So, locally somedomain.com works, just remotely it goes to the root htdocs. So If I use a *:80 wildcard I works, but then everything points to the subfolder and all the other vhosts seem to get ignored. Any Idea why this is?

  For each development sites I want to have a unique port number. For instance, domain.com:1234 This is what I have in my httpd.conf file. After restart the page domain.com:1234 is not showing in the browser. Is there anything else that I need to do besides what I have already done to make this work? Listen *:1234 <VirtualHost *:1234> DocumentRoot /var/www/dev_sites/test ServerName domain.com:1234 </VirtualHost> It looks like if I go to my local hostname (kk.local:1234) it shows. Is there some sort of dns that I need to do? I really don't want to go into godaddy everytime I add a development site. Is there a way around that?

• Apache httpd VirtualHost config - multiple sites

  [Advised to post here from StackExchange] I have a site to work on, because of the way the URLs are built the application seems to have been created on the assumption that it will be at the server root (only app). On my dev server I have other projects and up to now a simple symlink has been working for me, but that's not the case now because this new app wants to sit at the route and process all URLs arriving on :80. Hopefully this snippet from httpd.conf will help explain what I'm trying to acheive: # default for any not matched elsewhere <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName localhost DocumentRoot /var/www/html/newproject </VirtualHost> # now try to pick out specific URLs <VirtualHost localhost/webdev> DocumentRoot /var/www/html/existingProject ServerName localhost/project </VirtualHost> Also need to be able to get same affect from wherever I'm accessing the httpd instance from. • Setting up Django application on lighttpd behind apache reverse proxy

  I have a Django app at http://some_other_example.com (it will be behind firewall) running on lighttpd server with fastcgi. I need make it available under http://example.com/myapp. It works fine except for redirects - when I login from http://example.com/myapp/login it redirects me to http://example.com instead of http://example.com/myapp. When logging-in from http://some_other_example.com/login it is ok. • 502 errors with apache mod_proxy hot standby (or equivalent)

  Anyone knows how to configure the hot standby (+H) mod_proxy feature so that the takeover occurs immediately (without even one user receiving a 502) error during a shutdown? We aren't looking for real load-balancing, we just want a secondary server to take over while we shutdown the primary. The problem is that whenever the primary goes down, I'm able to slip one invalid request resulting in a 502 HTTP error reaching the end user,before the secondary actually takes over. • Starting Apache through XAMPP is not working

  I've checked the error logs for this particular problem and it seems no access can be made to port 80. (OS 10013)An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. : make_sock: could not bind to address [::]:80 Turning the Windows firewall off didn't work, so I'm a bit lost. All of this is running on my laptop so I don't have my own "server" per se but I was under the impression that this would work without the need for one independent of my own personal computer. How would I solve this?

  I am getting ready to do a "spring cleaning" on the web heads at work. I would really like to put my config files into a git repo, and use the same config files for all the web heads. This is a problem for the sites that are on port 443. Is there anyway to do an if statement or something like that inside the conf file itself? I am trying to avoid writing a script to generate the conf files. Any ideas are greatly appreciated!! Thank you! Jeff

• Sticking with Ubuntu 12.04 while heavily using PPA for newest software updates (Apache 2.4, PHP 5.5)

  I was wondering whether is it worthwhile to stick with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS until 14.04 comes or should I be switching to just the latest Ubuntu server version 13.10. My server needs are not enterprise heavy and previous thought to keep with LTS was simply to gain the security updates without having to upgrade the servers every couple months. But as we are moving forward with our software development, I have found that alot of the default version of software with 12.04 is way out of the date forcing me to up date via PPA or from source instead of from default apt-get. ie PHP 5.3 is on 12.04, and I'd like to get it to 5.5. Is it worthwhile to simply move to 13.10 in that situation? With the idea to move to 14.04 when it comes?

  I would like subdomain.mydomain.com to invisibly redirect to https://[myServerIP]:2083. (There is an SSL issue here). So far I managed to do it, but the redirection is visible and I don't want it: RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^subdomain.\.mydomain\.com$ RewriteRule ^ https://[myServerIP]:2083/ Would it be a way to achieve the same redirection while maintaining permanently my beautiful "subdomain.mydomain.com" in the address bar? When i'm trying to get into foobar.com/dir providing valid username/password pair i get 403 forbidden page instead of that directory contents. www.foobar.com/dir has 777 rights, .httpaswd is chmoded 644. But i can't figure out why i am still not seeing contents. Please, give me a hint.   We have several developers who maintain the system and I want them to easily read the log files in /var/log/httpd without needing root access. • Boost asio async vs blocking reads, udp speed/quality

  I have a quick and dirty proof of concept app that I wrote in C# that reads high data rate multicast UDP packets from the network. For various reasons the full implementation will be written in C++ and I am considering using boost asio. The C# version used a thread to receive the data using blocking reads. I had some problems with dropped packets if the computer was heavily loaded (generally with processing those packets in another thread). What I would like to know is if the async read operations in boost (which use overlapped io in windows) will help ensure that I receive the packets and/or reduce the cpu time needed to receive the packets. The single thread doing blocking reads is pretty straightforward, using the async reads seems like a step up in complexity, but I think it would be worth it if it provided higher performance or dropped fewer packets on a heavily loaded system. Currently the data rate should be no higher than 60Mb/s.

(aka copy on move) The question: How can I determine if a file will be either logically or physically moved ? I'm transferring large files (700+ megs) and would adopt a different behaviors for each situation. Edit: I've already coded a moving file dialog with a worker thread that perform the blocking io call to copy the file a meg at a time. It provide information to the user like rough estimate of the remaining time and transfer rate. The problem is: how do I know if the file can be moved logically before trying to move it physically ?

• How to detect filesystem has changed in java

  Hi all, I would like to know how to efficiently implement filesystem changes in java? Say I got a file in a folder and modify that file. I would like to be notified by java about this change as soon as possible(no frequently polling if possible.). • java I/O is blocked while reading on socket when i put off the battery from device.

• Java BufferedReader readline blocking?

  I want to make an HTTP request and then get the response as sketched here: URLConnection c = new URL("http://foo.com").openConnection(); c.setDoOutput(true); /* write an http request here using a new OutputStreamWriter(c.getOutputStream) */ BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(c.getInputStream)); reader.readLine(); But my question is, if the request I send takes a long time before a response is received, what happens in the call reader.readLine() above? Will this process stay running/runnable on the CPU or will it get taken off the CPU and be notified to wake up and run again when there is IO to be read? If it stays on the CPU, what can be done to make it get off and be notified later?

• printing menu in terminal and choosing an option, how to?

  I'm a haskell beginner. I'm trying to make a program that shows a menu through terminal and ask user to introduce an option. Here is the code: main :: IO () main = do putStrLn "0 <- quit" putStrLn "1 <- Hello" putStr "Choose an option: " c <- getChar case c of '0' -> return () '1' -> putChar '\n' >> putStrLn "Hello World" >> main When I use this module in the ghci interpreter everything works like it's suposed to do. But if i compile this with: ghc hello.hs and run it in the terminal, it doesn't display the line "Choose an option:" before ask for a char to be introduced. I think this may be caused because of haskell lazy nature and I don't know how to fix it. Any ideas?

• Can I use meteor for this?

  I'm looking for a way to create an app which has a realtime web interface as well as an API which can be called by a node.js client while sharing most of its code. I'd like to be able to manage data, monitor and execute tasks inside of my app via browser, but also have an automation/scheduling program which connects to my web app and tells it to run various tasks and get results of each task. Unfortunately it doesn't look like I can connect to Meteor from the server, so I'm wondering if there's another approach? Is what I described even possible using Meteor? I have done some testing using socket.io and I think I may be able to do it this way, but Meteor seems like it'd be really great for the realtime user interface.

  Hi, I need to accomplish the following task: Attempt to move a file. If file is locked schedule for moving as soon as it becomes available. I am using File.Move which is sufficient for my program. Now the problems are that: 1) I can't find a good way to check if the file I need to move is locked. I am catching System.IO.IOException but reading other posts around I discovered that the same exception may be thrown for different reasons as well. 2) Determining when the file gets unlocked. One way of doing this is probably using a timer/thread and checking the scheduled files lets say every 30 seconds and attempting to move them. But I hope there is a better way using FileSystemWatcher. This is a .net 3.5 winforms application. Any comments/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks for attention.

  Using imageData = context.getImageData(0, 0, width, height); JSON.stringify(imageData.data); I grab the pixel data, convert it to a string, and then send it over the wire via websockets. However, this string can be pretty large, depending on the size of the canvas object. I tried using the compression technique found here: JavaScript implementation of Gzip but socket.io throws the error Websocket message contains invalid character(s). Is there an effective way to compress this data so that it can be sent over websockets?

• Why do [flush-8:16] and [jbd2/sdb2-8] occasionally use 99.99% disk IO?

  Approximately twice a week, the entire graphical interface will lock up for about 10-20 seconds without warning while I am doing simple tasks such as browsing the web or writing a paper. When this happens, GUI elements do not respond to mouse or keyboard input, and the System Monitor applet displays 100% IOWait processor usage. Today, I finally happened to have GNOME Terminal already open when the problem started. Despite other applications such as Google Chrome, Firefox, GNOME Do, and GNOME Panel being unresponsive, the terminal was usable. I ran iotop and observed that commands named [flush-8:16] and [jbd2/sdb2-8] were alternately using 99.99% IO. What are these, and how can I prevent them from causing GUI unresponsiveness? Here is dumpe2fs /dev/sdb2, if it's relevant.
