• Use jQuery.post() result in javascript function

  I've got no clue how to do the following, so I wasn't sure what to search for either. For validating my registration form I've a javascript function that checkes the existence of the inserted username in the database onblur of the username textfield. function checkUsername(username){ $.post("checkmail.php", {mail: mailcheck} , function(data){ var $response=$(data); var response = $response.filter('#mail-response').text(); if(response == "taken") { document.getElementById('username').style.borderColor = rood; valid = false; } }); } This works fine, but now I want to validate it again onsubmit of the form in case users decide to submit an existing username. function validateForm() { var valid = true; //checks different fields //now check voor username existence var username = document.getElementById('username').value; checkUsername.call(username); if (!valid) { return false; } else { return true; } } I'm not familiar enough with Javascript to get this working. • how do i detect \r\n in a u_char type of buffer?

  i am trying to construct http content from packet sniffing in C. right now i am able to save all the packets in a file but i want to get rid of the headers in the first packet. they are also being saved as per they are a part of tcp payload. the actual body after the header starts after double "crlf" or \r\n\r\n in http response. how do i detect \r\n so that i can only save the following part of the buffer in the file. the buffer is u_char type. i cant figure out the command or the part i looked on google and other places but i mostly find c# commands, nothing in C.

• Aborting $.post() / responsive search results

  I have the following kludgey code; HTML <input type="search" id="search_box" /> <div id="search_results"></div> JS var search_timeout, search_xhr; $("#search_box").bind("textchange", function(){ clearTimeout(search_timeout); search_xhr.abort(); search_term = $(this).val(); search_results = $("#search_results"); if(search_term == "") { if(search_results.is(":visible")) search_results.stop().hide("blind", 200); } else { if(search_results.is(":hidden")) search_results.stop().show("blind", 200); } search_timeout = setTimeout(function () { search_xhr = $.post("search.php", { q: search_term }, function(data){ search_results.html(data); }); }, 100); }); (uses the textchange plugin by Zurb) The problem I had with my original more simple code was that it was horribly unresponsive. Results would appear seconds later, especially when typed slower, or when Backspace was used, etc. I made all this, and the situation isn't much better. Requests pile up. My original intention is to use .abort() to cancel out whatever previous request is still running as the textchange event is fired again (as per 446594). This doesn't work, as I get repeated errors like this in console; Uncaught TypeError: Cannot call method 'abort' of undefined How can I make .abort() work in my case? Furthermore, is this approach the best way to fetch 'realtime' search results? Much like Facebook's search bar, which gives results as the user types, and seems to be very quick on its feet.

  I'm trying to use linux elinks text browser to go to a website. This site requires http authentication. If I press escape it and hide the login prompt once and then If I try to go the particular website again it doesn't show the login prompt again. I try "flush all caches" But it doesn't work until I close my terminal and get a new one. Is there any other way to get over with this? This should be a simple question. But I googled and couldn't find a answer.

  This is driving the whole team crazy. There must be some simple mis-configured part of IIS or our Web Server, but every time we try to run out ASP.NET Web Application on IIS 7.5 we get the following error... Here's the error in full: HTTP Error 500.19 - Internal Server Error The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid. `Detailed Error Information` Module IIS Web Core Notification Unknown Handler Not yet determined Error Code 0x8007000d Config Error Config File \\?\E:\wwwroot\web.config Requested URL http://localhost:80/Default.aspx Physical Path Logon Method Not yet determined Logon User Not yet determined Config Source -1: 0: The machine is running Windows Server 2008 R2. We're developing our Web Application using Visual Studio 2008. According to Microsoft the code 8007000d means there's a syntax error in our web.config -- except the project builds and runs fine locally. Looking at the web.config in XML Notepad doesn't bring up any syntax errors, either. I'm assuming it must be some sort of poor configuration on my part...? Does anyone know where I might find further information about the error? Nothing is showing in EventViewer, either :( Not sure what else would be helpful to mention... Assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks! UPDATES! - POSTED WEB.CONFIG BELOW Ok, since I posted the original question above, I've tracked down the precise lines in the web.config that were causing the error. Here are the lines (they appear between <System.webServer> tags)... <httpHandlers> <remove verb="*" path="*.asmx"/> <add verb="*" path="*.asmx" validate="false" type="System.Web.Script.Services.ScriptHandlerFactory, System.Web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=f2cb5667dc123a56"/> </httpHandlers> Note: If I delete the lines between the <httpHandlers> I STILL get the error. I literally have to delete <httpHandlers> (and the lines inbetween) to stop getting the above error. Once I've done this I get a new 500.19 error, however. Removing this attribute then makes it complain that the same line doesn't have the required "name" attribute. Adding this attribute then brings up ASP.NET error... Could not load file or assembly 'System.web.Extensions, Version=1.0.61025.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=f2cb5667dc123a56' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified. Obviously I think these new errors have just arisen from me deleting the <httpHandlers> tags in the first place -- they're obviously needed by the application -- so the question remains: Why would these tags kick up an error in IIS in the first place??? Do I need to install something to IIS to make it work with them? Thanks again for any help. WEB.CONFIG Here's the troublesome bits of our web.Config... How can I repair it? • ASP.NET MVC 2 JQuery POST not displaying the model state errors

  Hello, I have been using asp.net mvc for a bit (but I'm still a beginer). I want to have the ability to update two views as a result of a jquery postback. Basically I have a list and a details view. The details view is presented using a jquery popup (using jquery-UI popup). I only want to update the list if the details save is successful (i.e. there are no validation errors on the details view). However, if there are any validation errros in the details view, I want to update the details view so that the user sees the validation errors. so I thought in my controller, I return a JsonResult instead of a View. [HttpPost] public ActionResult SavePersonInfo(Person p) { if(ModelState.Valid) { return View("PersonList"); } return Json({Error = true, View = PartialView("PersonDetails", p)}); } As you can see if there are no errors I return the person list view, but if there are any validation errors, I have return the details view. The reason that I'm returning a JsonResult is I need to tell my view there is an error so that the view (jquery) knows which section to update (as in whether to update the person list 'div' or the popup dialog 'div'). Could someone tell me why I'm not seeing the validation errors? although I'm using a JSonResult, I do use the right property which is a valid view when I render the 'dvDetails'. Am I doing something that I'm not suppose to in asp.net mvc? Btw I'm using asp.net mvc2 RC with Visual Studio 2010 RC. Thank you.

  I am trying to write a function to post form data and save returned cookie info in a file so that the next time the page is visited, the cookie information is sent to the server (i.e. normal browser behavior). I wrote this relatively easily in C++ using curlib, but have spent almost an entire day trying to write this in Python, using urllib2 - and still no success. • jquery ajax post callback - manipulation stops after the "third" call

  EDIT: The problem is not related to Boxy, I've run into the same issue when I've used JQuery 's load method. EDIT 2: When I take out link.remove() from inside the ajax callback and place it before ajax load, the problem is no more. Are there restrictions for manipulating elements inside an ajax callback function. I am using JQuery with Boxy plugin. When the 'Flag' link on the page is clicked, a Boxy modal pops-up and loads a form via ajax. When the user submits the form, the link (<a> tag) is removed and a new one is created from the ajax response. This mechanism works for, well, 3 times! After the 3rd, the callback function just does not remove/replace/append (tested several variations of manipulation) the element. The only hint I have is that after the 3rd call, the parent of the link becomes non-selectable. However I can't make anything of this. Sorry if this is a very trivial issue, I have no experience in client-side programming. • MVC Rendered Partial, how to get partial/view model in main model post to controller

  I have a text file and when users upload the file, the controller action method parses that file using state machine and uses a generic list to store some values. I pass this back to the view in the form of an IEnumerable. Within my main view, based on this ienumerable list I render a partail view to iterate items and display labels and a textarea. Users could add their input in the text area. • How to repeat a POST request using Chrome's developer tools?

  Not sure if this is the right stack exchange to ask this, but here goes... I'm trying to wean myself off of Firebug, which has served me very well for a lot of years. One feature that seems to be missing in Chrome's dev tools is the ability to repeat an AJAX POST. In firebug I can right click on the request in the console and hit "Open in new tab" and the request is repeated exactly as it was originally sent. In Chrome, the same action just does a normal GET on the link, without any of the post data. Is there any way to repeat an AJAX POST in Chrome's dev tools?

  I'm 17 years old and wish to post an application on the iOS App Store. My situation is a little different to other users doing the same thing, though. I'm finding this very frustrating. It's very annoying that Apple don't let younger talent post themselves. Is it true that if I do post under my Father's name I can choose a different name to be listed on the app store? I want to keep this professional, I don't want my father's name to appear underneath the application on the store. :P I have registered myself as the company director of a private limited company. Even though I'm the only one in the company, is this a way to bypass the 18+ restriction or do I need a minimum of 2 employees? Why the hell has this been closed? Thanks

I have a WCF 4 web service that uses the global.asax routing approach and very simplified web.config using the standard endpoint method. This wcf service runs as an application with the default web site on iis 7.5 at present. I need it support both http and https interfaces, if possible. If that's too complex then only https. How is that best handled maintaining the current approach?   I have a ASP.NET 1.1 application running on IIS 6 / Windows Server 2003. It's our application, but we're trying to specifically replicate a customer's installation so the app folder has been copied entirely from their production server onto our test machine, and then we've created the Virtual Directory and Web Application for IIS manually. The problem I have is that when we access the app, we get the standard IIS security error message: The page cannot be displayed You have attempted to execute a CGI, ISAPI, or other executable program from a directory that does not allow programs to be executed. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please try the following: •Contact the Web site administrator if you believe this directory should allow execute access. HTTP Error 403.1 - Forbidden: Execute access is denied. Internet Information Services (IIS) Now this is pretty standard, except as far as I can see it's not anything so simple. I have checked: IIS user has read access to the directory IIS user and Network Service users have read/write access to the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder Virtual directory is set to the correct version of ASP.NET ASP.NET 1.1 Web Service Extension is allowed Virtual directory has the correct mappings of file extensions and all verbs to the aspnet 1.1 DLL Virtual directory properties allow Scripts and Executables to be run Anonymous access is turned on and the username and password is correct What am I missing?

• SharePoint custom web service consumption problems - HTTP 401: Unauthorized

  I have a custom web service deployed into WSS 3. It has two web methods. The first one returns the version of the loaded assembly without any invocation of the SharePoint objects. The second returns some basic info about the library, something like: var spLibrary = [find library logic]; return spLibrary.Name+"@"+spLibrary.Url; In the client app I have something like the following: var service = new WebService1(); service.Url = [url]; service.Credentials = System.Net.CredentialCache.DefaultCredentials; service.Method1(); service.Method2(); When the client app runs on the machine where SharePoint is deployed, everything works just fine. When the client app runs on the remote machine (but under the same user) the first method still works, but the second one throws System.Net.WebException: HTTP 401: Unauthorized. I have tried to set credentials manualy (service.Credentials = new System.Net.NetworkCredential(login, password, domain);) but this doesnt help. I've tried to invoke the built in SharePoint web services using a similar scenario, and they work just fine: Sorry for the mistake... • Visual Studio 2008 Web Project error: Unable to start program http://localhost:port

  I am re-hashing this question because I have looked at over 50 threads in different forums and have not been able to get a resolution to my problem. Here are the specs: Windows XP SP3, Visual Studio 2008 SP1, .NET 3.5, ASP. NET MVC 2 project, IE 7 (was IE 8) Up until a few days ago I was not having any issues. It is now happening on any solution that I try to debug. I start a debug session (F5), the solution rebuilds, a VS development web server starts and then I get this error: Unable to start program http://localhost:2012/ If I open a web browser and enter the URL the application loads up. I had upgraded to IE 8 a few weeks ago and read there may be some issues so it has been uninstalled and I am currently on IE 7. Also, while IE 8 was installed I had switched my default browser to Firefox but my current default broweser is now IE7. I have reveiewed the threads on this site and others and have not been able to fix the issue. Any help would be appreciated.

• Japanese text garbled while passing to a http restlet service

  Hi , I have a perl client which is calling a http restlet service (put method). Some of the parameters in this call contain japanese text. when I printed the contents of these request parameters in the restlet service I found these chars garbled ! This is my PERL client code: my %request_headers = ( 'DocumentName' => $document_name, --> This name is a JAPANESE String 'DocumentDescription' => 'Test Japanese Chars', 'content-length' => 200, 'Content-Type' => 'application/octet-stream; charset=utf-8', 'User-Agent' => "JPCharTester", ); $s-write_request('PUT', '/test-document/TEST/TEST_DOCUMENT' , %request_headers, $content); in this call both the values of $context and $document_name are JAPANESE Strings. But ONLY the document_name is received as garbled in my backend service. Here goes the Service code: String URL_ENCODING = "UTF-8"; String documentName = requestHeaders.getFirstValue("DocumentName"); System.out.println("Encoded Document Name : "+documentName+" <<<"); --> documentName is garbled here try { documentName = URLDecoder.decode(documentName, URL_ENCODING); System.out.println(>>> Decoded Document Name : "+documentName+" <<<"); --> documentName is garbled here } catch (java.io.UnsupportedEncodingException ex) { throwException(ex.getMessage(), Status.SERVER_ERROR_INTERNAL, ex); } both the above log statements printed GARBLED TEXT !! • NSString's stringByAppendingPathComponent: removes a '/' in http://

  I've been modifying some code to work between Mac OS X and iPhone OS. I came across some code that was using NSURL's URLByAppendingPathComponent: (added in 10.6), which as some may know, isn't available in the iPhone SDK. My solution to make this code work between OS's is to use NSString *urlString = [myURL absoluteString]; urlString = [urlString stringByAppendingPathComponent:@"helloworld"]; myURL = [NSURL urlWithString:urlString]; The problem with this is that NSString's stringByAppendingPathComponent: seems to remove one of the /'s from the http:// part of the URL. Is this intended behaviour or a bug? Edit Ok, So I was a bit too quick in asking the question above. I re-read the documentation and it does say: Note that this method only works with file paths (not, for example, string representations of URLs) However, it doesn't give any pointers in the right direction for what to do if you need to append a path component to a URL on the iPhone... I could always just do it manually, adding a /if necessary and the extra string, but I was looking to keep it as close to the original Mac OS X code as possible...
