  • Is there a Drupal module for Forms with powerful CRUD style behaviour?

    We are building a website that contains a large number of database tables that need to be edited by the CMS administrator. Some of the tables are fed by form submissions from users on the front end of the website. Some of the tables are purely in the CMS and are used to create custom modules on the front end of the website. Although there is a forms module in Drupal, I think our requirements cannot be met by it. Does anyone know of a system that allows forms to be saved to a CRUD style database with the following features? Export of all database fields. View a summary of the records in a filterable table. With paging You can have one to many relationships in records eg To code this manually for 10 forms is A LOT of work. Particularly the one to many relationships. If there is a powerful module available it would save us writing one.

  • Is it acceptible to expect mentoring to replace many years experience?

    Hi all Just a quick question Here's my situation: I've been maintaining, extending and creating websites against a CMS for the last 18 months In that time I've learnt a LOT more about ASP.Net, javascript, and of course the quirks of the CMS we are using My manager wants to get others involved, and I'm expected to mentor another programmer whilst they work on production code Now, I've got no problem mentoring someone and it would be great for me to not be the only one with the skillset. But what I HAVE got a problem with is mentoring someone within an agreed timescale of the piece of work (10 days in this case) AND expected to deliver the product to the same standard. I guess what I'm getting at is: 18 months experience != a few days mentoring, not to mention the level of C#/.Net/ASP.Net/Javascript required may also not be up to scratch. Am I right to think this is a little, wrong?

  • Best Practice: Legitimate Cross-Site Scripting

    While cross-site scripting is generally regarded as negative, I've run into several situations where it's necessary. I was recently working within the confines of a very limiting content management system. I needed to include database code within the page, but the hosting server didn't have anything usable available. I set up a couple barebones scripts on my own server, originally thinking that I could use AJAX to import the contents of my scripts directly into the template of the CMS (thus retaining dynamic images, menu items, CSS, etc.). I was wrong. Due to the limitations of XMLHttpRequest objects, it's not possible to grab content from a different domain. So I thought "iFrame" - even though I'm not a fan of frames, I thought that I could create a frame that matched the width and height of the content, so that it would appear native. Again, I was blocked by cross-site scripting "protections." While I could indeed load a remote file into the iFrame, I couldn't execute JavaScript to modify its size on either the host page or inside the loaded page. In this particular scenario, I wasn't able to point a subdomain to my server. I also couldn't create a script on the CMS server that could proxy content from my server, so my last thought was to use a remote JavaScript. A remote JavaScript works. It breaks when the user has JavaScript disabled, which is a downside; but it works. The "problem" I was having with using a remote JavaScript was that I had to use the JS function document.write() to output any content. Any output that isn't JS causes script errors. In addition to using document.write() for every line, you also have to ensure that the content is escaped - or else you end up with more script errors. My solution was as follows: My script received a GET parameter ("page") and then looked for the file ({$page}.php), and read the contents into a variable. However, I had to use awkward buffering techniques in order to actually execute the included scripts (for things like database interaction) then strip the final content of all line break characters ("\n") followed by escaping all required characters. The end result is that my original script (which outputs JavaScript) accesses seemingly "standard" scripts on my server and converts their standard output to JavaScript for displaying within the CMS template. While this solution works, it seems like there may be a better way to accomplish the same thing. What is the best way to make cross-site scripting work specifically for the purpose of including content from a completely different domain?

We have just completed design of Data Access Layer which is generic in the sense that it works using XML and reflection to persist data. Any ways now we are in the phase of designing business layer. We have read some books related to Enterprise Architecture and Design so we have found that there are few patterns that can be applied on business layer. Table Pattern and Domain Model are example of such patterns. Also we have found Domain Driven Design as well. Earlier we decided to build Entities against table objects. But we found that there is difference in Entities and Value Objects when it comes to DDD. For those of you who have gone through such design. Please guide me related to pattern, practice and sample.   • Can a BufferedImage be written to file any format?

    Is it correct that if we have a BufferedImage object in java, we could potentially write it out in ANY format using ImageIO.write (if we have a Writer object for the same)? I tried writing a BufferedImage object into a jpg file, it outputted an empty image file however when i tried writing it in to a png file, it worked fine.

Currently, here it is: ^[a-zA-Z\s/-]+ I'm using it to pull out medication names from a variety of formulation strings, for example: SULFAMETHOXAZOLE-TRIMETHOPRIM 200-40 MG/5ML PO SUSP AMOX TR/POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE 125 mg-31.25 mg ORAL TABLET, CHEWABLE AMOXICILLIN TRIHYDRATE 125 mg ORAL TABLET, CHEWABLE AMOX TR/POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE 125 mg-31.25 mg ORAL TABLET, CHEWABLE Amoxicillin 1000 MG / Clavulanate 62.5 MG Extended Release Tablet The resulting matches on these examples are: SULFAMETHOXAZOLE-TRIMETHOPRIM AMOX TR/POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE AMOXICILLIN TRIHYDRATE AMOX TR/POTASSIUM CLAVULANATE Amoxicillin The first four are what I want, but on the fifth, I really need "Amoxicillin / Clavulanate". How would I pull out patterns like "Amoxicillin / Clavulanate" (in fifth row) while missing patterns like "MG/5 ML" (in the first row)?

  • Simple database design and LINQ

    I have very little experience designing databases, and now I want to create a very simple database that does the same thing I have previously had in xml. Here's the xml: <services> <service type="writing"> <small>125</small> <medium>100</medium> <large>60</large> <xlarge>30</xlarge> </service> <service type="analysis"> <small>56</small> <medium>104</medium> <large>200</large> <xlarge>250</xlarge> </service> </services> Now, I wanted to create the same thing in a SQL database, and started doing this ( hope this formats ok, but you'll get the gist, four columns and two rows): > ServiceType Small Medium Large > > Writing 125 100 60 > > Analysis 56 104 200 This didn't work too well, since I then wanted to use LINQ to select, say, the Large value for Writing (60). But I couldn't use LINQ for this (as far as I know) and use a variable for the size (see parameters in the method below). I could only do that if I had a column like "Size" where Small, Medium, and Large would be the values. But that doesn't feel right either, because then I would get several rows with ServiceType = Writing (3 in this case, one for each size), and the same for Analysis. And if I were to add more servicetypes I would have to do the same. Simply repetitive... Is there any smart way to do this using relationships or something? Using the second design above (although not good), I could use the following LINQ to select a value with parameters sent to the method: protected int GetHourRateDB(string serviceType, Size size) { CalculatorLinqDataContext context = new CalculatorLinqDataContext(); var data = (from calculatorData in context.CalculatorDatas where calculatorData.Service == serviceType && calculatorData.Size == size.ToString() select calculatorData).Single(); return data.Hours; } But if there is another better design, could you please also describe how to do the same selection using LINQ with that design? It often reports "<" instead of "<====" or similar. What is wrong?

  • Text Editor For Flash?

    Hi, I work for a company which produces flash websites. The CMS is built in PHP. The client can update the text on the CMS site. Currently it uses a really old, bad, flash text-editor. It needs to be upgraded to something much much better. I need a text editor that will produce 'flash-html' as well as 'valid-html'. Or even something that marks up the text in the way that would allow me to do this. I tried using TinyMCE and ran into problems trying to convert the HTML. Has anyone tried doing this? Can anyone recommend anything or give any tips on how I can do this?

Like this however, I end up with a WEB-INF/lib containing the subdirectories from my patterns: WEB-INF/lib/external/castor-1.1.jar WEB-INF/lib/external/... Is there any way to flatten this, so the JAR files appear top-level under WEB-INF/lib, regardless of the directories specified in the patterns? I looked at mapper but it seems you cannot use them inside lib.

  • Authenticate sites with different domain names using the Facebook API

    We have a CMS that supports multiple sites, one of our features allows our users (The site admin) to connect to the site facebook account to allow status updates, create events and upload pictures to FB from with in the CMS. The authentication needs to occur once since each site may have multiple site admins that do not have access to the site FB user name and password. We use iframe and authenticate using $facebook-require_login() which redirects the user to the FB login and authentication pages. All this works just fine but when the user hits "Allow" the authentication will break as it will only redirect to whatever is in the "Post-Authorize Redirect URL" field making the app obsolete for any other domain except the one in the "Post-Authorize Redirect URL" I know other API's authentication methods like in Vimeo and YouTube will allow you to specify a NEXT parameter which is the equivalent of the "Post-Authorize Redirect URL" and it can be set at run time. How can I make this work for multiple domain names? Any hints on this issue will be of great help

    I'm writing out wave files in Java using AudioInputStream output = new AudioInputStream(new ByteArrayInputStream(rawPCMSamples), new AudioFormat(22000,16,1,true,false), rawPCMSamples.length) AudioSystem.write(output, AudioFileFormat.Type.WAVE, new FileOutputStream('somefile.wav')) And I get what appears to be corrupt wave files on OSX. They won't play from Finder however using the same code behind a servlet writing directly to the response stream and setting the Content-Type to audio/wave seems to play fine in quicktime. What gives?

  • are there any negative implications of sourcing a javascript file that does not actually exist?

    If you do script src="/path/to/nonexistent/file.js" in an HTML file and call that in a browser, and there are no dependencies or resources anywhere else in the HTML file that expect the file or code therein to actually exist, is there anything inherently bad-practice about doing this? Yes, it is an odd question. The rationale is the developer is dealing with a CMS that allows custom (self-contained) javascript files to be provided in certain circumstances. The problem is the CMS is not very flexible when it comes to creating conditional includes for javascript. Therefore it is easier to just make references to the self-contained js files regardless of whether they are actually at the specified path. Since no errors are displayed to the user, should this practice be considered a viable option?
