• Trying to setup virtual hosts on unix PHP on nginx

  I have tried to install php5-fpm and Nginx on Ubuntu machine, but I got a problem. When I have only one virtual host on a unix port it is all fine but when I try to add another virtual host Nginx goes to default web page "Welcome to Nginx!" but when I run it on a tcp port example port 9000 it work fine with multisites. It is a fresh install of ubuntu 11.10, Nginx 1.2.3 with php5-fpm installed. It also has extra php installs such as php-apc. I can only give the links to the virtual hosts because I am doing it from a mobile phone. • Local dns for testing websites using mobile devices

  Hi. I have no idea where to start from so sorry in advance if this topic has already been discussed. I usually develop web sites using my laptop as a development server, and recently I needed to test a web site using various mobile devices that can connect via wifi. Having no real AP, I set up a ad-hoc network using my laptop's wireless card and the devices can correctly browse the Internet and access the laptop's web server. The setup is as follows: subnet: 192.168.1.0/24 gateway to the Internet (wired adsl router/modem): 192.168.1.1 laptop: 192.168.1.64 (eth0, wired if connected to the gateway) and 192.168.1.32 (eth1, wifi if somewhat bridged to eth0) mobile devices (same for all, I only use one of them at any time for simplicity): 192.168.1.11 with default gw 192.168.1.1 Now, if I open either 192.168.1.32 or 192.168.1.64 from the mobile devices, I correctly get the default host of my Apache configuration. However I usually work with virtual hosts for many practical reasons, one of which being Drupal's peculiar implementation of multi-sites. For those who don't know how this works, Drupal takes the request's hostname and searches into its sites/ subdirectories for an appropriate configuration file. So, for example, suppose I request www.example.com, then Drupal would search for a config file in the following directories: sites/www.example.com/ sites/example.com/ sites/com/ sites/default/ So I decided to adopt the following style of virtual hosts: if the website I'm working on will be accessible using www.example.com I set up a sites/www.example.com/ directory and create a virtual host for local.www.example.com so Drupal have no trouble finding it. I've been told this is suboptimal from a dns point of view since I'd have to create an authoritative entry for example.com and turn Bind on only when I'm supposed to access the local copy, which is weird. However, if this is the only path I can follow, I still have some problems with Bind's configuration, as I couldn't find any guide that tells me in a clear, noob-friendly way, how to set up such an entry. On the other hand, I was wondering if I could set up an authoritative entry for local, so I could access www.example.com.local and tell in some way (which I don't even know if this is possible) Apache to put www.example.com instead of www.example.com.local in the relevant environment variable. Anyway, I have a last problem, sort of: when I launch Bind in debug mode with high verbosity, and make 192.168.1.32 as the primary dns for the devices, the output doesn't say anything about requests being made from the devices to Bind, so I'm not even sure it comes into play. As you can see, I'm a complete noob at these matters, but I'm eager to learn, so any help/pointer will be appreciated.

  I am loading an external file 'contact_us.aspx' into a jquery dialog box. the external page contains a form. When the submit button is pressed it closes the dialog box and changes the page to contact_us.aspx. is my code correct or is there a different way of doing this. see my code below, thanks.   I'm working on adding a todo list to a project system and would like to have the todo creation trigger a async postback to update the database. I'd really like to host this in a usercontrol so I can drop the todo list onto a project page, task page or stand alone todo list page. Here's what I have. I'd really rather have the response method live inside the user control as well. Since I'll be dropping it on several pages to keep from having to go put a method on each individual page. • Problem with onRetainNonConfigurationInstance

  I am writing a small app using the Android SDK, 1.6 target, and the Eclipse plug-in. I have layouts for both portrait and landscape mode, and most everything is working well. I say most because I am having issues with the orientation change. One part of the app has a ListView "on top of" another section. That section consists of 4 checkboxes, a button, and some TextViews. That is the portrait version. The landscape version replaces the ListView with a Spinner and rearranges some of the other components (but leaves the ALL resource ids the same). While in either orientation things work like they should. It's when the app switches orientation that things go off. Only 1 of the checkboxes maintains it's state throughout both layout changes. The other three CBs only maintain their state when going from landscape-portrait. I am also having problem getting the ListView/Spinner to correctly set themselves on changing. I am using onRetainNonConfigurationInstance() and creating a custom object that is returned. When I step through the code during a orientation change, the custom object is successfully pulled back out the the ether, and the widgets are being set to the correct values (inspecting them). • Squid proxy not serving modified html content

  I'm trying to use squid to modify the page content of web page requests. I followed the upside-down-ternet tutorial which showed instructions for how to flip images on pages. I need to change the actual html of the page. I've been trying to do the same thing as in the tutorial, but instead of editing the image I'm trying to edit the html page. Below is a php script I'm using to try to do it. All jpg images get flipped, but the content on the page does not get edited. • 8 bit enum, in C

  I have to store instuctions, commands that I will be receiving via serial. The commands will be 8 bits long. I'd like to use Enumerations to deal with them in my code. Only a enumeration corresponds to a ... on this platform I think a 16 bit integer. I need to preserve transparancy between command name, and its value. So as to avoid having to translate an 8-bit number received in serial into any type. BTW the platform is AVR ATmega169V microcontroller, on the Butterfly demo board. It may be being underclocked to preserve power (I'm opposed to this, I believe the ATmega169V uses no power, not next to a router. But that's getting offtopic.) So I need to keep things fast, and I don't have any luxuries like file I/O. Or operating systems. So any suggestions as to what type I should be using to store 8-bit commands? There has got to be something better than a massive header of #defines.

I have used BFS algorithm to do the job, but unfortunately I can only print one shortest path not all of them, for example if they are 4 paths having lenght 3, my algorithm only prints the first one but I would like it to print all the four shortest paths.   I'm building a process which extracts data from 6 csv-style files and two poorly laid out .txt reports and builds output CSVs, and I'm fully aware that there's going to be some overhead searching through all that whitespace thousands of times, but I never anticipated converting about about 50,000 records would take 12 hours. My Scanner id is scanning a java.util.String, figured buffering it to memory would reduce I/O since the search here is being performed thousands of times on a relatively small file. The performance increase compared to scanning a BufferedReader(FileReader(File)) was probably less than 1%, the process still looks to be taking a LONG time. I've also traced execution and the slowness of my overall conversion process is definitely between the first and last like of the lookup method. In fact, so much so that I ran a shortcut process to count the number of occurrences of various identifiers in the .csv-style files (I use 2 lookup methods, this is just one of them) and the process completed indexing approx 4 different identifiers for 50,000 records in less than a minute. Compared to 12 hours, that's instant. Some notes (updated): I don't necessarily need the pattern-matching behaviour, I only get the first field of a line of text so I need to match line breaks or use Scanner.nextLine(). All ID numbers I need start at position 0 of a line and run through til the first block of whitespace, after which is the name of the corresponding object. I would ideally want to return a String, not an int locating the line number or start position of the result, but if it's faster then it will still work just fine. If an int is being returned, however, then I would now have to seek to that line again just to get the ID; storing the ID of every line that is searched sounds like a way around that. Anything to help me out, even if it saves 1ms per search, will help, so all input is appreciated. Thankyou! Usage scenario 1: I have a list of objects in file A, who in the old-style system have an id number which is not in file A. It is, however, POSSIBLY in another csv-style file (file B) or possibly still in a .txt report (file C) which each also contain a bunch of other information which is not useful here, and so file B needs to be searched through for the object's full name (1 token since it would reside within the second column of any given line), and then the first column should be the ID number. If that doesn't work, we then have to split the search token by whitespace into separate tokens before doing a search of file C for those tokens as well. Much like a person's name. As per a comment, I will pre-compile the regex for my objectSearchToken, which is just [\r\n]+. What's ending up happening in file C is, every single line is being checked, even the 95% of lines which don't contain an ID number and object name at the start. Would it be quicker to use ^[\r\n]+.*(objectname) instead of two separate regexes? It may reduce the number of _match executions. The more general case of that would be, concatenate all tokensBefore with all tokensAfter, and put a .* in the middle. It would need to be matching backwards through the file though, otherwise it would match the correct line but with a huge .* block in the middle with lots of lines. The above situation could be resolved if I could get java.util.Scanner to return the token previous to the current one after a call to findWithinHorizon. I have another usage scenario. Will put it up asap.

  I'm working on a album viewer. At the top I want a horizontal container of all the image thumbnails. Right now all the thumbnails are wrapped in a div with float:left. I'm trying to figure out how to keep these thumbnails from wrapping to the next line when there are too many, but rather stay all in one horizontal row and use the scrollbar. • Use a subdirectory as root with htaccess in Apache 1.3

  I'm trying to deploy a site generated with Jekyll and would like to keep the site in its own subfolder on my server to keep everything more organized. Essentially, I'd like to use the contents of /jekyll as the root unless a file similarly named exists in the actual web root. So something like /jekyll/sample-page/ would show as http://www.example.com/sample-page/, while something like /other-folder/ would display as http://www.example.com/other-folder. My test server runs Apache 2.2 and the following .htaccess (adapted from http://gist.github.com/97822) works flawlessly: RewriteEngine On # Map http://www.example.com to /jekyll. RewriteRule ^$ /jekyll/ [L] # Map http://www.example.com/x to /jekyll/x unless there is a x in the web root. How can I use the /jekyll/ directory as the site root without revealing the actual URL structure? Edit: After a ton of research into Apache 1.3, I've found that this problem is essentially a combination of two different issues listed at the Apache 1.3 URL Rewriting Guide. I have a (partially) moved DocumentRoot, which in theory would be taken care of with something like this: RewriteRule ^/$ /e/www/ [R] I also have the infamous "Trailing Slash Problem," which is solved by setting the RewriteBase (as was suggested in one of the responses below): RewriteBase /~quux/ RewriteRule ^foo$ foo/ [R] The problem is combining the two. Moving the document root doesn't (can't?) use RewriteBase—fixing trailing slashes requires(?) it… Hmm…

• htaccess redirect from root to subfolder and then mask the url?

  Hello all, Two things: Firstly - I have version 2 of a website located in a folder named v2, and I want to redirect any traffic that is NOT a child of the v2 folder, to www.example.com/v2 The old site located in the root was created in iWeb and has a LOT of subfolders and sub-subfolders. So: www.example.com/v2 = New site www.example.com/Page.html www.example.com/category/Page.html ww.example.com/category/subcategory/Page.html = All generic examples of what I need to redirect. Secondly, and I don't know if this is possible, I want to hide /v2/ in the URL, so that visitors will just see www.example.com/page even though they are actually on www.example.com/v2/page Links are hardcoded to the v2 folder, like so <a href="v2/contact.html" Any help is MOST appreciated. I've spent hours trying to figure this out, but I'm only just learning about htaccess and regular expressions, and am totally confused. Thanks so much!

  I'm having an annoying :) I use regexes from this: http://forums.codecharge.com/posts.php?post_id=77123 if you enter [url]www.bob.com[/url] it leads too http://localhost/test/www.bobsbar.com So I added before http://$1 in the replacement. That fix it but then [url]http://www.bob.com[/url] will lead to http://http://www.bobsbar.com How would you fix this? I want my users to be able to post links with AND without http:// and i want it to redirect to the site -_- Hope you understand this.
